A short proof is given to Dixmier's 6'th problem for the Weyl algebra (and other algebras of Gelfand-Kirillov dimension which is less than 3 like rings of differential operators on smooth irreducible algebraic curves).
The Dixmier Conjecture says that every endomorphism of the (first) Weyl algebra $A_1$ (over a field of characteristic zero) is an automorphism, i.e., if $PQ-QP=1$ for some $P, Q \in A_1$ then $A_1 = K \langle P, Q \rangle$. The Weyl algebra $A_1$ is a $\Z$-graded algebra. We prove that the Dixmier Conjecture holds if the elements $P$ and $Q$ are sums of no more than two homogeneous elements of $A$ (there is no restriction on the total degrees of $P$ and $Q$).
Let $A_1(K)=K \langle x,y | yx-xy= 1 \rangle$ be the first Weyl algebra over a characteristic zero field $K$ and let $α$ be the exchange involution on $A_1(K)$ given by $α(x)= y$ and $α(y)= x$. The Dixmier conjecture of Dixmier (1968) asks: Is every algebra endomorphism of the Weyl algebra $A_1(K)$ an automorphism? The aim of this paper is to prove that each $α$-endomorphism of $A_1(K)$ is an automorphism. Here an $α$-endomorphism of $A_1(K)$ is an endomorphism which preserves the involution $α$. We also prove an analogue result for the Jacobian conjecture in dimension 2, called $α-JC_2$.
Let $A_1:=K\langle x, \frac{d}{dx} \rangle$ be the Weyl algebra and $\mI_1:= K\langle x, \frac{d}{dx}, \int \rangle$ be the algebra of polynomial integro-differential operators over a field $K$ of characteristic zero. The Conjecture/Problem of Dixmier (1968) [still open]: {\em is an algebra endomorphism of the Weyl algebra $A_1$ an automorphism?} The aim of the paper is to prove that {\em each algebra endomorphism of the algebra $\mI_1$ is an automorphism}. Notice that in contrast to the Weyl algebra $A_1$ the algebra $\mI_1$ is a non-simple, non-Noetherian algebra which is not a domain. Moreo…

Dixmier's famous question says the following: Is every algebra endomorphism of the first Weyl algebra, $A_1(F)$, where $F$ is a zero characteristic field, an automorphism? Let $α$ be the exchange involution on $A_1(F)$: $α(x)= y$, $α(y)= x$. An $α$-endomorphism of $A_1(F)$ is an endomorphism which preserves the involution $α$. Then one may ask the following question, which may be called the "$α$-Dixmier's problem $1$" or the "starred Dixmier's problem $1$": Is every $α$-endomorphism of $A_1(F)$ an automorphism?
The affinoid envelope, $\widehat{U(\mathcal{L})}$ of a free, finitely generated $\mathbb{Z}_p$-Lie algebra $\mathcal{L}$ has proven to be useful within the representation theory of compact $p$-adic Lie groups. Our aim is to further understand the algebraic structure of $\widehat{U(\mathcal{L})}$, and to this end, we will define a Dixmier module over $\widehat{U(\mathcal{L})}$, and prove that this object is generally irreducible in case where $\mathcal{L}$ is nilpotent. Ultimately, we will prove that all primitive ideals in the affinoid envelope can be described in terms of the annihilators of …
We prove that the Poisson version of the Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence holds for cocommutative affine Poisson-Hopf algebras. This is a first step towards understanding the symplectic foliation and the representation theory of (cocommutative) affine Poisson-Hopf algebras. Our proof makes substantial use of the model theory of fields equipped with finitely many possibly noncommuting derivations. As an application, we show that the symmetric algebra of a finite dimensional Lie algebra, equipped with its natural Poisson structure, satisfies the Poisson Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence.
Using the author's inversion formula for automorphisms of the Weyl algebras with polynomial coefficients and the bound on its degree a slightly shorter (algebraic) proof is given of the result of A. Belov-Kanel and M. Kontsevich that the Jacobian Conjecture implies the Dixmier Proplem. No originality is claimed.
Dixmier and Moeglin gave an algebraic condition and a topological condition for recognising the primitive ideals among the prime ideals of the universal enveloping algebra of a finite-dimensional complex Lie algebra; they showed that the primitive, rational, and locally closed ideals coincide. In modern terminology, they showed that the universal enveloping algebra of a finite-dimensional complex Lie algebra satisfies the Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence. We define quantities which measure how "close" an arbitrary prime ideal of a noetherian algebra is to being primitive, rational, and locally clos…
We show that to determine all solvable elements in the Weyl algebra is closely related to the Dixmier's open question. Sufficient conditions for an elements being unsolvable are given, and properties of solvable elements are obtained.
The well-known Dixmier conjecture asks if every algebra endomorphism of the first Weyl algebra over a characteristic zero field is an automorphism. We bring a hopefully easier to solve conjecture, called the $γ,δ$ conjecture, and show that it is equivalent to the Dixmier conjecture. Up to checking that in the group generated by automorphisms and anti-automorphisms of $A_1$ all the involutions belong to one conjugacy class, we show that every involutive endomorphism from $(A_1,γ)$ to $(A_1,δ)$ is an automorphism ($γ$ and $δ$ are two involutions on $A_1$), and given an endomorphism $f$ of $A_1$ …
In this paper, we provide some topological criteria for the Poisson Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence for $A$ in terms of the poset $({\rm P. spec A}, \subseteq)$ and the symplectic leaf or core stratification on its maximal spectrum. In particular, we prove that the Zariski topology of the Poisson prime spectrum and of each symplectic leaf or core can detect the Poisson Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence for any complex affine Poisson algebra. Moreover, we generalize the weaker version of the Poisson Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence for a complex affine Poisson algebra proved in [J. Bell, S. Launois, O.L. Sánc…
An algebra $A$ satisfies the Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence if we have the equivalences: $$P~{\rm primitive}\iff P~{\rm rational}\iff P ~{\rm locally~closed~}\qquad~{\rm for}~P\in {\rm Spec}(A).$$ We study the robustness of the Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence under extension of scalars and under the formation of Ore extensions. In particular, we show that the Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence is preserved under base change for finitely generated complex noetherian algebras. We also study Ore extensions of finitely generated complex noetherian algebras $A$. If $T:A\to A$ is either a $\mathbb{C}$-algebra aut…
Let $k$ be a field and let $R$ be a left noetherian $k$-algebra. The algebra $R$ satisfies the Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence if the annihilators of irreducible representations are precisely those prime ideals that are locally closed in the ${\rm Spec}(R)$ and if, moreover, these prime ideals are precisely those whose extended centres are algebraic extensions of the base field. We show that if $R$ and $S$ are two left noetherian $k$-algebras with ${\rm dim}_k(R), {\rm dim}_k(S)<|k|$ then if $R$ and $S$ have homeomorphic spectra then $R$ satisfies the Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence if and only if $S$…
Let $p$ and $q$, where $pq-qp=1$, be the standard generators of the first Weyl algebra $A_1$ over a field of characteristic zero. Then the spectrum of the inner derivation $ad(pq)$ on $A_1$ are exactly the set of integers. The algebra $A_1$ is a $\mathbb{Z}$-graded algebra with each $i$-component being the $i$-eigenspace of $ad(pq)$, where $i\in \mathbb{Z}$. The Dixmier Conjecture says that if some elements $z$ and $w$ of $A_1$ satisfy $zw-wz=1$, then they generate $A_1$. We show that if either $z$ or $w$ possesses no component belonging to the negative spectrum of $ad(pq)$, then the Dixmier C…
The structure of Poisson polynomial algebras of the type obtained as semiclassical limits of quantized coordinate rings is investigated. Sufficient conditions for a rational Poisson action of a torus on such an algebra to leave only finitely many Poisson prime ideals invariant are obtained. Combined with previous work of the first-named author, this establishes the Poisson Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence for large classes of Poisson polynomial rings, such as semiclassical limits of quantum matrices, quantum symplectic and euclidean spaces, quantum symmetric and antisymmetric matrices. For a simila…
Given a projective scheme $X$ over a field $k$, an automorphism $σ$ of $X$, and a $σ$-ample invertible sheaf $L$, one may form the twisted homogeneous coordinate ring $B = B(X, L, σ)$, one of the most fundamental constructions in noncommutative projective algebraic geometry. We study the primitive spectrum of $B$, as well as that of other closely related algebras such as skew and skew-Laurent extensions of commutative algebras. Over an algebraically closed, uncountable field $k$ of characteristic zero, we prove that that the primitive ideals of $B$ are characterized by the usual Dixmier-Moegli…
Thanks to recent results on ring homomorphisms of Azumaya algebras and to the following ones about endomorphisms of canonical Poisson algebras and Dirac quantum algebras, and about the reformulation in positive characteristic of these conjectures in characteristic zero, we prove the equivalence of these three conjectures in any characteristic, giving also by this way a new proof of the equivalence of the complex version of the two first conjectures recently proved by Y. Tsuchimoto.
Let $K$ be a field, let $E$ be a finite directed graph, and let $L_K(E)$ be the Leavitt path algebra of $E$ over $K$. We show that for a prime ideal $P$ in $L_K(E)$, the following are equivalent: \begin{enumerate} \item $P$ is primitive; \item $P$ is rational; \item $P$ is locally closed in ${\rm Spec}(L_K(E))$. \end{enumerate} We show that the prime spectrum ${\rm Spec}(L_K(E))$ decomposes into a finite disjoint union of subsets, each of which is homeomorphic to ${\rm Spec}(K)$ or to ${\rm Spec}(K[x,x^{-1}])$. In the case that $K$ is infinite, we show that $L_K(E)$ has a rational $K^{\times}$…
We consider a skew-symmetric $n$-ary bracket on the polynomial algebra $K[x_1,\ldots,x_n,x_{n+1}]$ ($n\geq 2$) over a field $K$ of characteristic zero defined by $\{a_1,\ldots,a_n\}=J(a_1,\ldots,a_n,C)$, where $C$ is a fixed element of $K[x_1,\ldots,x_n,x_{n+1}]$ and $J$ is the Jacobian. If $n=2$ then this bracket is a Poisson bracket and if $n\geq 3$ then it is an $n$-Lie-Poisson bracket on $K[x_1,\ldots,x_n,x_{n+1}]$. We describe the center of the corresponding $n$-Lie-Poisson algebra and show that the quotient algebra $K[x_1,\ldots,x_n,x_{n+1}]/(C-λ)$, where $(C-λ)$ is the ideal generated b…
Brown and Gordon asked whether the Poisson Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence holds for any complex affine Poisson algebra; that is, whether the sets of Poisson rational ideals, Poisson primitive ideals, and Poisson locally closed ideals coincide. In this article a complete answer is given to this question using techniques from differential-algebraic geometry and model theory. In particular, it is shown that while the sets of Poisson rational and Poisson primitive ideals do coincide, in every Krull dimension at least four there are complex affine Poisson algebras with Poisson rational ideals that are…
Endomorphisms of Weyl algebras are studied using bimodules. Initially, for a Weyl algebra over a field of characteristic zero, Bernstein's inequality implies that holonomic bimodules finitely generated from the right or left form a monoidal category. The most important bimodule in this paper is the graph of an endomorphism. We prove that the graph of an endomorphism of a Weyl algebra over a field of characteristic zero is a simple bimodule. The simplicity of the tensor product of the dual graph and the graph is equivalent to the Dixmier conjecture. It is also shown how the graph construction l…
We describe the structure of the automorphism groups of algebras Morita equivalent to the first Weyl algebra $ A_1 $. In particular, we give a geometric presentation for these groups in terms of amalgamated products, using the Bass-Serre theory of groups acting on graphs. A key rôle in our approach is played by a transitive action of the automorphism group of the free algebra $ \c < x, y > $ on the Calogero-Moser varieties $ \CC_n $ defined in \cite{BW}. Our results generalize well-known theorems of Dixmier and Makar-Limanov on automorphisms of $ A_1 $, answering an old question of Stafford (s…
A polynomial endomorphism $σ\in {\rm End}_K(P_n)$ is called a Jacobian map if its Jacobian is a nonzero scalar (the field has zero characteristic). Each Jacobian map $σ$ is extended to an endomorphism $σ$ of the Weyl algebra $A_n$. The Jacobian Conjecture (JC) says that every Jacobian map is an automorphism. Clearly, the Jacobian Conjecture is true iff the twisted (by $σ$) $P_n$-module ${}^σ P_n$ is 1-generated for all Jacobian maps $σ$. It is shown that the $A_n$-module ${}^σ P_n$ is 1-generated for all Jacobian maps $σ$. Furthermore, the $A_n$-module ${}^σ P_n$ is holonomic and as a result h…
Let $A_1=K < X, Y | [Y,X]=1>$ be the (first) Weyl algebra over a field $K$ of characteristic zero. It is known that the set of eigenvalues of the inner derivation $\ad (YX)$ of $A_1$ is $\Z$. Let $ A_1\ra A_1$, $X\mapsto x$, $Y\mapsto y$, be a $K$-algebra homomorphism, i.e. $[y,x]=1$. It is proved that the set of eigenvalues of the inner derivation $\ad (yx)$ of the Weyl algebra $A_1$ is $\Z$ and the eigenvector algebra of $\ad (yx)$ is $K< x,y> $ (this would be an easy corollary of the Problem/Conjecture of Dixmier of 1968 [still open]: {\em is an algebra endomorphism of $A_1$ an automorphism…
In this paper, we study the algebra automorphisms and isomorphisms for a family of "symmetric" multiparameter quantized Weyl algebras $\A$ and some related algebras in the generic case. First, we compute the Nakayama automorphism for $\A$ and give a necessary and sufficient condition for $\A$ to be Calabi-Yau. We also prove that $\A$ is cancellative. Then we determine the automorphism group for $\A$ and its polynomial extension $\E$. As an application, we solve the isomorphism problem for $\{\A\}$ and $\{\E\}$. Similar results will be established for the Maltisiniotis multiparameter quantized …
The first (associative) Weyl algebra is formally rigid in the classical sense. In this paper, we show that it can however be formally deformed in a nontrivial way when considered as a so-called hom-associative algebra, and that this deformation preserves properties such as the commuter, while deforming others, such as the center, power associativity, the set of derivations, and some commutation relations. We then show that this deformation induces a formal deformation of the corresponding Lie algebra into what is known as a hom-Lie algebra, when using the commutator as bracket. We also prove t…
In this paper, we study a family of generalized Weyl algebras $\{\A\}$ and their polynomial extensions. We will show that the algebra $\A$ has a simple localization $\A_{\mathbb{S}}$ when none of $p$ and $q$ is a root of unity. As an application, we determine all the height-one prime ideals and the center for $\A$, and prove that $\A$ is cancellative. Then we will determine the automorphism group and solve the isomorphism problem for the generalized Weyl algebras $\A$ and their polynomial extensions in the case where none of $p$ and $q$ is a root of unity. We will establish a quantum analogue …
Deformation theory can be used to compute the cohomology of a deformed algebra with coefficients in itself from that of the original. Using the invariance of the Euler-Poincare characteristic under deformation, it is applied here to compute the cohomology of the Weyl algebra, the algebra of the quantum plane, and the q-Weyl algebra. The behavior of the cohomology when q is a root of unity may encode some number theoretic information.
We introduce a new family of twisted generalized Weyl algebras, called multiparameter twisted Weyl algebras, for which we parametrize all simple quotients of a certain kind. Both Jordan's simple localization of the multiparameter quantized Weyl algebra and Hayashi's q-analog of the Weyl algebra are special cases of this construction. We classify all simple weight modules over any multiparameter twisted Weyl algebra. Extending results by Benkart and Ondrus, we also describe all Whittaker pairs up to isomorphism over a class of twisted generalized Weyl algebras which includes the multiparameter …
We prove that any twisted generalized Weyl algebra satisfying certain consistency conditions can be embedded into a crossed product. We also introduce a new family of twisted generalized Weyl algebras, called multiparameter twisted Weyl algebras, for which we parametrize all simple quotients of a certain kind. Both Jordan's simple localization of the multiparameter quantized Weyl algebra and Hayashi's $q$-analog of the Weyl algebra are special cases of this construction. We classify all simple weight modules over any multiparameter twisted Weyl algebra. Extending results by Benkart and Ondrus,…
A new class of Poisson algebras, the class of {\em generalized Weyl Poisson algebras}, is introduced. It can be seen as Poisson algebra analogue of generalized Weyl algebras or as giving a Poisson structure to (certain) generalized Weyl algebras. A Poisson simplicity criterion is given for generalized Weyl Poisson algebras and explicit descriptions of the Poisson centre and the absolute Poisson centre are obtained. Many examples are considered.
Kanel-Belov and Kontsevich's conjecture in \cite[Conjecture 1]{BeKo} is proved: The automorphism group of the $n$-th Weyl algebra is isomorphic to the Poisson automorphism group of the $n$-th Poisson Weyl algebra.
Homological smoothness and twisted Calabi-Yau property of generalized Weyl algebras over polynomial algebras in two variables is studied. A necessary and sufficient condition to be homologically smooth is given. The Nakayama automorphisms of such algebras are also computed in terms of the Jacobian determinants of defining automorphisms.
We study the invariant theory of a class of quantum Weyl algebras under group actions and prove that the fixed subrings are always Gorenstein. We also verify the Tits alternative for the automorphism groups of these quantum Weyl algebras.
We classify up to isomorphism the quantum generalized Weyl algebras and determine their automorphism groups in all cases in a uniform way, including those where the parameter q is a root of unity, thereby completing the results obtained by [Bavula, V. V.; Jordan, D. A. Isomorphism problems and groups of automorphisms for generalized Weyl algebras. Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 353 (2001), no. 2, 769-794] and [Richard, L.; Solotar, A. Isomorphisms between quantum generalized Weyl algebras. J. Algebra Appl. 5 (2006), no. 3, 271-285]
The aim of this paper is to give relations between the category of finetely generated graded modules over the homogeneized Weyl algebra $B_{n}$, the finetely generated modules over the Weyl algebra $A_{n}$ and the finetely generated graded modules over the Yoneda algebra $B_{n}^{!}$ of $B_{n}$. We will give these relations both at the level of the categories of modules and at the level of the derived categories.
We introduce nil-Hecke algebras for Weyl groupoids. We describe a basis and some properties of these algebras which lead to a notion of Bruhat order for Weyl groupoids.
Motivated by Weyl algebra analogues of the Jacobian conjecture and the Tame Generators problem, we prove quantum versions of these problems for a family of analogues to the Weyl algebras. In particular, our results cover the Weyl-Hayashi algebras and tensor powers of a quantization of the first Weyl algebra which arises as a primitive factor algebra of $U_q^+(\mathfrak{so}_5)$.
The inversion formula is given for automorphisms of the Weyl algebras with polynomial coefficients over a field of characteristic zero. The theorem of Gabber on the degree of polynomial automorphism is extended. It is proved that any automorphism of the Weyl algebra with polynomial coefficients is determined by its left (right) faces (extending the result of J. H. McKay and S. S.-S. Wang for polynomial automorphisms).
We discuss a conjecture which says that the automorphism group of the Weyl algebra in characteristic zero is canonically isomorphic to the automorphism group of the corresponding Poisson algebra of classical polynomial symbols. Several arguments in favor of this conjecture are presented, all based on the consideration of the reduction of the Weyl algebra to positive characteristic.
