Donaldson defined a parabolic flow on Kahler manifolds which arises from considering the action of a group of symplectomorphisms on the space of smooth maps between manifolds. One can define a moment map for this action, and then consider the gradient flow of the square of its norm. Chen discovered the same flow from a different viewpoint and called it the J-flow, since it corresponds to the gradient flow of his J-functional, which is related to Mabuchi's K-energy. In this paper, we show that in the case of Kahler surfaces with two Kahler forms satisfying a certain inequality, the J-flow converges to a zero of the moment map.
In this paper, we give an alternative proof for the convergence of Kähler-Ricci flow on a Fano mnaifold $(M,J)$. This proof differs from that in [TZ3]. Moreover, we generalize the main theorem of [TZ3] to the case that $(M,J)$ may not admit any Kähler-Einstein metrics.
In this paper, we study the uniformly strong convergence of Kähler-Ricci flow on a Fano manifold with varied initial metrics and smooth deformation complex structures. As an application, we prove the uniqueness of Kähler-Ricci solitons in sense of diffeomorphism orbits. The result generalizes Tian-Zhu's theorem for the uniqueness of of Kähler-Ricci solitons on a compact complex manifold, and it is also a generalization of Chen-Sun's result of for the uniqueness of of Kähler-Einstein metric orbits.
In this paper, we consider Kahler-Ricci flow on n-dimensional Kahler manifold with semi-ample canonical line bundle and 0< m:= Kod(X)<n. Such manifolds admit a Calabi-Yau fibration over its canonical model. We prove that the scalar curvature of the Kahler metric along the normalized Kahler-Ricci flow converge to -m outside the singular set of this fibration.
In this paper, we study the long-term behavior of the conical Kähler-Ricci flow on Fano manifold $M$. First, based on our work of locally uniform regularity for the twisted Kähler-Ricci flows, we obtain a long-time solution to the conical Kähler-Ricci flow by limiting a sequence of these twisted flows. Second, we study the uniform Perelman's estimates of the twisted Kähler-Ricci flows. After that, we prove that the conical Kähler-Ricci flow must converge to a conical Kähler-Einstein metric if there exists one.
We investigate the limiting behavior of the unnormalized Kahler-Ricci flow on a Kahler manifold with a polarized initial Kahler metric. We prove that the Kahler-Ricci flow becomes extinct in finite time if and only if the manifold has positive first Chern class and the initial Kahler class is proportional to the first Chern class of the manifold. This proves a conjecture of Tian for the smooth solutions of the Kahler-Ricci flow.
We proved the convergence of a sequence of 2 dimensional comapct Kahler-Einstein orbifolds with rational quotient singularities and with some uniform bounds on the volumes and on the Euler characteristics of our orbifods to a Kahler-Einstein 2-dimensional orbifold. Our limit orbifold can have worse singularities than the orbifolds in our sequence. We will also derive some estimates on the norms of the sections of plurianticanonical bundles of our orbifolds in the sequence that we are considering and our limit orbifold.
In this paper, we prove that the $L^4$-norm of Ricci curvature is uniformly bounded along a Kähler-Ricci flow on any minimal algebraic manifold. As an application, we show that on any minimal algebraic manifold $M$ of general type and with dimension $n\le 3$, any solution of the normalized Kähler-Ricci flow converges to the unique singular Kähler-Einstein metric on the canonical model of $M$ in the Cheeger-Gromov topology.
We study the convergence of the Kähler-Ricci flow on a Fano manifold under some stability conditions. More precisely we assume that the first eingenvalue of the $\bar\partial$-operator acting on vector fields is uniformly bounded along the flow, and in addition the Mabuchi energy decays at most logarithmically. We then give different situations in which the condition on the Mabuchi energy holds.
In this paper, we establish several sufficient and necessary conditions for the convergence of a Kähler-Ricci flow, on a Kähler manifold with positive first Chern class, to a Kähler-Einstein metric (or a shrinking Kähler-Ricci soliton).
We prove that, under a semi-ampleness type assumption on the twisted canonical line bundle, the conical Kähler-Ricci flow on a minimal elliptic Kähler surface converges in the sense of currents to a generalized conical Kähler-Einstein on its canonical model. Moreover, the convergence takes place smoothly outside the singular fibers and the chosen divisor.
A short proof of the convergence of the Kahler-Ricci flow on Fano manifolds admitting a Kahler-Einstein metric or a Kahler-Ricci soliton is given, using a variety of recent techniques
In this short note we announce a regularity theorem for Kähler-Ricci flow on a compact Fano manifold (Kähler manifold with positive first Chern class) and its application to the limiting behavior of Kähler-Ricci flow on Fano 3-manifolds. Moreover, we also present a partial $C^0$ estimate to the Kähler-Ricci flow under the regularity assumption, which extends previous works on Kähler-Einstein metrics and shrinking Kähler-Ricci solitons (cf. \cite{Ti90}, \cite{DoSu12}, \cite{Ti12}, \cite{PSS12}). The detailed proof will appear in \cite{TiZh13}.
In this paper, we prove the existence of a Kahler Ricci soliton on any smooth Fano horospherical manifold by a study of the Kahler-Ricci flow. Indeed, we prove that the renormalized Kahler Ricci flow converges in the sense of Cheeger Gromov and that this limit is a Kahler-Ricci soliton.
We study the behaviour of the normalized Kähler-Ricci flow on complete Kähler manifolds of negative holomorphic sectional curvature. We show that the flow exists for all time and converges to a Kähler-Einstein metric of negative scalar curvature, recovering a result of Wu and Yau.
These notes are based on a lecture series given at the Park City Math Institute in the summer of 2013. The notes are intended as a leisurely introduction to the Kähler-Ricci flow on compact Kähler manifolds, aimed at graduate students with some background in differential geometry.
On a Fano manifold, we prove that the Kahler-Ricci flow starting from a Kahler metric in the anti-canonical class which is sufficiently close to a Kahler-Einstein metric must converge in a polynomial rate to a Kahler-Einstein metric. The convergence can not happen in general if we study the flow on the level of Kahler potentials. Instead we exploit the interpretation of the Ricci flow as the gradient flow of Perelman's μfunctional. This involves modifying the Ricci flow by a canonical family of gauges. In particular, the complex structure of the limit could be different in general. The main te…
We investigate Riemannian (non-Kahler) Ricci flow solutions that develop finite-time Type-I singularities and present evidence in favor of a conjecture that parabolic rescalings at the singularities converge to singularity models that are shrinking Kahler-Ricci solitons. Specifically, the singularity model for these solutions is expected to be the "blowdown soliton" discovered in [FIK03]. Our partial results support the conjecture that the blowdown soliton is stable under Ricci flow, as well as the conjectured stability of the subspace of Kahler metrics under Ricci flow.
In this paper we prove that for a given Kähler-Ricci flow with uniformly bounded Ricci curvatures in an arbitrary dimension, for every sequence of times $t_i$ converging to infinity, there exists a subsequence such that $(M,g(t_i + t))\to (Y,\bar{g}(t))$ and the convergence is smooth outside a singular set (which is a set of codimension at least 4) to a solution of a flow. We also prove that in the case of complex dimension 2, without any curvature assumptions we can find a subsequence of times such that we have a convergence to a Kähler-Ricci soliton, away from finitely many isolated singular…
In this short note, we show that given a special Kähler-Einstein degeneration with bounded geometry, for any noncentral fiber, there exists a Kähler-Ricci flow which converges to the Kähler-Einstein metric of the central fiber. As an example, Tian's deformations \cite{Tian97} of the Mukai 3-fold admit Kähler-Ricci flows which converge to Donaldson's Kähler-Einstein metric \cite{Don08} over the Mukai 3-fold.
We study the Kahler-Ricci flow on Fano manifolds. We show that if the curvature is bounded along the flow and if the manifold is K-polystable and asymptotically Chow semistable, then the flow converges exponentially fast to a Kahler-Einstein metric.
Let $(M,\overline{g})$ be a Kähler surface, and $Σ$ an immersed surface in $M$. The Kähler angle of $Σ$ in $M$ is introduced by Chern-Wolfson \cite{CW}. Let $(M,\overline{g}(t))$ evolve along the Kähler-Ricci flow, and $Σ_t$ in $(M,\overline{g}(t))$ evolve along the mean curvature flow. We show that the Kähler angle $α(t)$ satisfies the evolution equation: $$ (\frac{\partial}{\partial t}-Δ)\cosα=|\overline\nabla J_{Σ_t}|^2\cosα+R\sin^2α\cosα, $$ where $R$ is the scalar curvature of $(M, \overline{g}(t))$. The equation implies that, if the initial surface is symplectic (Lagrangian), then along …
In this paper we study a generalization of the Kahler-Ricci flow, in which the Ricci form is twisted by a closed, non-negative (1,1)-form. We show that when a twisted Kahler-Einstein metric exists, then this twisted flow converges exponentially. This generalizes a result of Perelman on the convergence of the Kahler-Ricci flow, and it builds on work of Tian-Zhu.
We show that the scalar curvature is uniformly bounded for the normalized Kahler-Ricci flow on a Kahler manifold with semi-ample canonical bundle. In particular, the normalized Kahler-Ricci flow has long time existence if and only if the scalar curvature is uniformly bounded, for Kahler surfaces, projective manifolds of complex dimension three, and for projective manifolds of all dimensions if assuming the abundance conjecture.
In this paper, we analyze the asymptotic behaviour of the Hermitian-Yang-Mills flow over a compact non-Kähler manifold $(X,g)$ with the Hermitian metric $g$ satisfying the Gauduchon and Astheno-Kähler condition.
In this short note, we study the behavior of Kaher-Ricci flow on Kahler manifolds which contract divisors to smooth submanifolds. We show that the Kahler potentials are Holder continuous and the flow converges sequentially in Gromov-Hausdorff topology to a compact metric space which is homeomorphic to the base manifold.
In this paper we show that on a Fano manifold the convergence of the Kähler-Ricci flow to a Kähler-Einstein metric follows from the integrability of the $L^2$ norm of the Ricci potential for positive time.
We show that the Kähler-Ricci flow on a manifold with positive first Chern class converges to a Kähler-Einstein metric assuming positive bisectional curvature and certain stability conditions.
For the Kähler-Ricci flow on a compact Kähler manifold with semi-ample canonical line bundle, we prove the singularity type at infinity does not depend on the choice of the initial metric. We also provide new simple proofs for some existing classification results on infinite-time singularity type of the Kähler-Ricci flow.
Let $X = M \times E$ where $M$ is an $m$-dimensional Kähler manifold with negative first Chern class and $E$ is an $n$-dimensional complex torus. We obtain $C^\infty$ convergence of the normalized Kähler-Ricci flow on $X$ to a Kähler-Einstein metric on $M$. This strengthens a convergence result of Song-Weinkove and confirms their conjecture.
In this paper, the author has considered the hyperbolic Kahler-Ricci flow introduced by Kong and Liu [11], that is, the hyperbolic version of the famous Kahler-Ricci flow. The author has explained the derivation of the equation and calculated the evolutions of various quantities associated to the equation including the curvatures. Particularly on Calabi-Yau manifolds, the equation can be simplified to a scalar hyperbolic Monge-Ampere equation which is just the hyperbolic version of the corresponding one in Kahler-Ricci flow.
$\,\,\,\,\,\,$In this paper, we prove that the nonautonomous Schrödinger flow from a compact Riemannian manifold into a Kähler manifold admits a local solution. Under some certain conditions, the solution is unique and has higher regularity.
While the Anomaly flow was originally motivated by string theory, its zero slope case is potentially of considerable interest in non-Kahler geometry, as it is a flow of conformally balanced metrics whose stationary points are precisely Kahler metrics. We establish its convergence on Kahler manifolds for suitable initial data. We also discuss its relation to some current problems in complex geometry.
We study the convergence of the Kähler-Ricci flow on a compact Kähler manifold $(M,J)$ with positive first Chern class $c_1(M;J)$ and vanished Futaki invariant on $πc_1(M;J)$. As the application we establish a criterion for the stability of the Kähler-Ricci flow (with perturbed complex structure) around a Kähler-Einstein metric with positive scalar curvature, under certain local stable condition on the dimension of holomorphic vector fields. In particular this gives a stability theorem for the existence of Kähler-Einstein metrics on a Kähler manifold with possibly nontrivial holomorphic vector…
In this paper, we propose a method of studying the modified Kahler-Ricci flow on projective bundles and give the explicit equation from the view point of symplectic geometry.
On a compact Kähler manifold with semi-ample canonical line bundle and Kodaira dimension one, we observe a relation between the infinite-time singularity type of the Kähler-Ricci flow and the characteristic indexes of singular fibers of the semi-ample fibration.
We consider the general Kähler-Ricci flows which exist for all time. The zeroth order control on the flow metric potential for various infinite time singularities is the focus. The possible semi-amplness for numerically effective classes serves as the main motivation.
Multiplier ideal sheaves are constructed as obstructions to the convergence of the Kähler-Ricci flow on Fano manifolds, following earlier constructions of Kohn, Siu, and Nadel, and using the recent estimates of Kolodziej and Perelman
In this paper, we prove that any non-flat ancient solution to Kähler-Ricci flow with bounded nonnegative bisectional curvature has asymptotic volume ratio zero. We also prove that any gradient shrinking solitons with positive bisectional curvature must be compact. Both results generalize the corresponding earlier results of Perelman in \cite{P1} and \cite{P2}. The results can be applied to study the geometry and function theory of complete Kähler manifolds with nonnegative bisectional curvature via Kähler-Ricci flow. It also implies a compactness theorem on ancient solutions to Kähler-Ricci fl…
In this short paper, we show that Kähler-Ricci flows over closed manifolds would have scalar curvature blown-up for finite time singularity. Certain control of the blowing-up is achieved with some mild assumption.
We study singularity formation of Kähler-Ricci flow on a Kähler manifold that admits a horizontally homothetic conformal submersion into another Kähler manifold. We will derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the preservation of horizontally homothetic conformal submersion along the flow and establish the formation of type I singularity together with a standard splitting of the Cheeger-Gromov limit. This generalizes the setup of Calabi symmetry that was discussed in \cite{1} and \cite{2}, thus gives new proofs for the results listed there.
In this paper, we study the behavior of Bergman kernels along the Kähler Ricci flow on Fano manifolds. We show that the Bergman kernels are equivalent along the Kähler Ricci flow under certain condition on the Ricci curvature of the initial metric. Then, using a recent work of Tian and Zhang, we can solve a conjecture of Tian for Fano manifolds of complex dimension $\le 3$.
Consider the Kahler-Ricci flow with finite time singularities over any closed Kahler manifold. We prove the existence of the flow limit in the sense of current towards the time of singularity. This answers affirmatively a problem raised by Tian on the uniqueness of the weak limit from sequential convergence construction. The notion of minimal singularity in the study of positive current, introduced by Demailly, comes up naturally. We also provide some discussion on the infinite time singularity case for comparison. The consideration can be applied to more flexible evolution equation of Kahler-…
In this paper, we discuss diameter bound and Gromov-Hausdorff convergence of a twisted conical Kähler-Ricci flow on the total spaces of some holomorphic submersions. We also observe that, starting from a model conical Kähler metric with possibly unbounded scalar curvature, the conical Kähler-Ricci flow will instantly have bounded scalar curvature for $t>0$, and the bound is of the form $\frac{C}{t}$. Several key results will be obtained by direct arguments on the conical equation without passing to a smooth approximation. In the last section, we present several remarks on a twisted Kähler-Ricc…
We show that a 1-parameter family Ricci flow ancient solutions arises from the natural collapsings of the twistor space of positive quaternion Kähler manifolds. We use these ancient solutions to show that a positive quaternion Kähler manifold is isometric to one of the Wolf spaces.
We study the J-flow on Kahler surfaces when the Kahler class lies on the boundary of the open cone for which global smooth convergence holds, and satisfies a nonnegativity condition. We obtain a C^0 estimate and show that the J-flow converges smoothly to a singular Kahler metric away from a finite number of curves of negative self-intersection on the surface. We discuss an application to the Mabuchi energy functional on Kahler surfaces with ample canonical bundle.
We study the blowup behavior at infinity of the normalized Kahler-Ricci flow on a Fano manifold which does not admit Kahler-Einstein metrics. We prove an estimate for the Kahler potential away from a multiplier ideal subscheme, which implies that the volume forms along the flow converge to zero locally uniformly away from the same set. Similar results are also proved for Aubin's continuity method.
In this paper, we prove that the Kahler Ricci flow converges to a Kahler Einstein metric when E_1 energy is small. We also prove that E_1 is bounded from below if and only if the K energy is bounded from below in the canonical class.
