A five term sequence for the low degree cohomology of a smash product of (cocommutative) Hopf algebras is obtained, generalizing that of Tahara for a semi-direct product of groups.
In this paper we study twisted algebras of multiplier Hopf ($^*$-)algebras which generalize all kinds of smash products such as generalized smash products, twisted smash products, diagonal crossed products, L-R-smash products, two-sided crossed products and two-sided smash products for the ordinary Hopf algebras appeared in [P-O].
Let $(A,\a)$ and $(B,\b)$ be two Hom-Hopf algebras. In this paper, we construct a class of new Hom-Hopf algebras: $R$-smash product $(A\natural_R B,\aø\b)$. Moreover, necessary and sufficient conditions for $(A\natural_R B,\aø\b)$ to be a cobraided Hom-Hopf algebra are given.
We consider the category of comodules over a smash coproduct coalgebra $C\smashco H$. We show that there is a Grothendieck spectral sequence connecting the derived functors of the Hom functors coming from $C\smashco H$-colinear, $H$-colinear and rational $C$-colinear morphisms. We give several applications and connect our results to existing spectral sequences in the literature.
We define the partial group cohomology as the right derived functor of the functor of partial invariants, we relate this cohomology with partial derivations and with the partial augmentation ideal and we show that there exists a Grothendieck spectral sequence relating cohomology of partial smash algebras with partial group cohomology and algebra cohomology.
We give some general results on the ring structure of Hochschild cohomology of smash products of algebras with Hopf algebras. We compute this ring structure explicitly for a large class of finite dimensional Hopf algebras of rank one.
In this work we define partial (co)actions on multiplier Hopf algebras, we also present examples and properties. From a partial comodule coalgebra we construct a partial smash coproduct generalizing the constructions made by the L. Delvaux, E. Batista and J. Vercruysse.
We introduce the Hom-analogue of the L-R-smash product and use it to define the Hom-analogue of the diagonal crossed product. When H is a finite dimensional Hom-Hopf algebra with bijective antipode and bijective structure map, we define the Drinfeld double of H; its algebra structure is a Hom-diagonal crossed product and it has all expected properties, namely it is quasitriangular and modules over it coincide with left-right Yetter-Drinfeld modules over H.
The main purpose of this paper is to unify the theory of actions of Hopf algebras, weak Hopf algebras and multiplier Hopf algebras to one of actions of weak multiplier Hopf algebras introduced by A. Van Daele and S. H. Wang. Using such developed actions, we will define the notion of a module algebra over weak multiplier Hopf algebras and construct their smash products. The main result is the duality theorem for actions and their dual actions on the smash product of weak multiplier Hopf algebras. As an application, we recover the main results found in the literature for weak Hopf algebras, mult…
Let H be a Hopf algebra and let B be a Koszul H-module algebra. We provide necessary and sufficient conditions for a filtered algebra to be a Poincare-Birkhoff-Witt (PBW) deformation of the smash product algebra B#H. Many examples of these deformations are given.
Let H be a Hopf algebra and A be an H-module algebra. This article investigates when the smash product A#H is (skew) Calabi-Yau, has Van den Bergh duality or is Artin-Schelter regular or Gorenstein. In particular, if A and H are skew Calabi-Yau, then so is A#H and its Nakayama automorphism is expressed using the ones of A and H. This is based on a description of the inverse dualising complex of A#H when A is a homologically smooth dg algebra and H is homologically smooth and with invertible antipode. This description is also used to explain the compatibility of standard constructions of Calabi…
We investigate Frobenius algebras and symmetric algebras in the monoidal category of right comodules over a Hopf algebra $H$; for the symmetric property $H$ is assumed to be cosovereign. If $H$ is finite dimensional and $A$ is an $H$-comodule algebra, we uncover the connection between $A$ and the smash product $A\# H^*$ with respect to the Frobenius and symmetric properties.
Given a Hopf algebra H and an H-module algebra A, we explicitly describe the Arens-Michael envelope of the smash product A#H in terms of the Arens-Michael envelope of H and a certain completion of A. We also give an example (Manin's quantum plane) showing that the result fails for non-Hopf bialgebras.
Stefan and Guichardet have provided Lyndon-Hochschild-Serre type spectral sequences which converge to the Hochschild cohomology and Ext groups of a smash product. We show that these spectral sequences carry natural multiplicative structures, and that these multiplicative structures can be used to calculate the cup product on Hochschild cohomology and the Yoneda product on an Ext algebra.
For a semisimple quasi-triangular Hopf algebra $\left( H,R\right) $ over a field $k$ of characteristic zero, and a strongly separable quantum commutative $H$-module algebra $A$ over which the Drinfeld element of $H$ acts trivially, we show that $A\#H$ is a weak Hopf algebra, and it can be embedded into a weak Hopf algebra $\operatorname{End}A^{\ast}\otimes H$. With these structure, $_{A\#H}\operatorname{Mod}$ is the monoidal category introduced by Cohen and Westreich, and $_{\operatorname{End}A^{\ast}\otimes H}\mathcal{M}$ is tensor equivalent to $_{H}\mathcal{M}$. If $A$ is in the M{ü}ger cen…
In this paper we introduce the notions of partial bimodule algebra and partial bico- module algebra. We also deal with the existence of globalizations for these structures, generalizing related results appeared in [2, 4]. As an application we construct the partial (L;R)-smash product, extending the corresponding global notion appeared in [14] to the context of partial Hopf actions.
It is an open question whether the smash product of a semisimple Hopf algebra and a semiprime module algebra is semiprime. In this paper we show that the smash product of a commutative semiprime module algebra over a semisimple cosemisimple Hopf algebra is semiprime. In particular we show that the central $H$-invariant elements of the Martindale ring of quotients of a module algebra form a von Neumann regular and self-injective ring whenever $A$ is semiprime. For a semiprime Goldie PI $H$-module algebra $A$ with central invariants we show that $\AH$ is semiprime if and only if the $H$-action c…
We discuss a general construction of a deformation of a smash product algebra coming from an action of a particular Hopf algebra. This Hopf algebra is generated by skew-primitive and group-like elements, and depends on a complex parameter. The smash product algebra is defined on the quantum symmetric algebra of a finite-dimensional vector space and a group. In particular, an application of this result has enabled us to find a deformation of such a smash product algebra which is, to the best of our knowledge, the first known example of a deformation in which the new relations in the deformed al…
If A is a cocommutative algebra with coproduct, then so is the smash product algebra of a symmetric algebra Sym(V) with A, where V is an A-module. Such smash product algebras, with A a group ring or a Lie algebra, have families of deformations that have been studied widely in the literature; examples include symplectic reflection algebras and infinitesimal Hecke algebras. We introduce a family of deformations of these smash product algebras for general A, and characterize the PBW property. We then characterize the Jacobi identity for "grouplike" algebras (that include group rings and the nilCo…
This is a survey article on a question, posed in 1986 by M.Cohen and D.Fishman, whether the smash product $A\#H$ of a semisimple Hopf algebra and a semiprime left $H$-module algebra $A$ is itself semiprime.
In this work we investigate partial actions of a Hopf algebra H on nonunital algebras and the associated partial smash products. We show that our partial actions correspond to nonunital algebras in the category of partial representations of H. The central problem of existence of a globalization for a partial action is studied in detail, and we provide sufficient conditions for the existence (and uniqueness) of a minimal globalization for associative algebras in general. Extending previous results by Abadie, Dokuchaev, Exel and Simon, we define Morita equivalence for partial Hopf actions, and w…
Motivated by partial group actions on unital algebras, in this article we extend many results obtained by Exel and Dokuchaev to the context of partial actions of Hopf algebras, according to Caenepeel and Jansen. First, we generalize the theorem about the existence of an enveloping action, also known as the globalization theorem. Second, we construct a Morita context between the partial smash product and the smash product related to the enveloping action. Third, we dualize the globalization theorem to partial coactions and finally, we define partial representations of Hopf algebras and show som…
We study Doi-Hopf data and Doi-Hopf modules for Hopf group-coalgebras. We introduce modules graded by a discrete Doi-Hopf datum; to a Doi-Hopf datum over a Hopf group coalgebra, we associate an algebra graded by the underlying discrete Doi-Hopf datum, using a smash product type construction. The category of Doi-Hopf modules is then isomorphic to the category of graded modules over this algebra. This is applied to the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules over a Hopf group coalgebra, leading to the construction of the Drinfeld double. It is shown that this Drinfeld double is a quasitriangular gra…
In this paper we discuss about the semiprimitivity and the semiprimality of partial smash products. Let $H$ be a semisimple Hopf algebra over a field $\mathbb{k}$ and let $A$ be a left partial $H$-module algebra. We study the $H$-prime and the $H$-Jacobson radicals of $A$ and its relations with the prime and the Jacobson radicals of $\underline{A\#H}$, respectively. In particular, we prove that if $A$ is $H$-semiprimitive, then $\underline{A\#H}$ is semiprimitive provided that all irreducible representations of $A$ are finite-dimensional, or $A$ is an affine PI-algebra over $\mathbb{k}$ and $\…
Let $H$ be a finite dimensional semisimple Hopf algebra, $A$ a differential graded (dg for short) $H$-module algebra. Then the smash product algebra $A\#H$ is a dg algebra. For any dg $A\#H$-module $M$, there is a quasi-isomorphism of dg algebras: $\mathrm{RHom}_A(M,M)\#H\longrightarrow \mathrm{RHom}_{A\#H}(M\ot H,M\ot H)$. This result is applied to $d$-Koszul algebras, Calabi-Yau algebras and AS-Gorenstein dg algebras
In the theory of dynamical Yang-Baxter equation, with any Hopf algebra $H$ and a certain $H$-module and $H$-comodule algebra $L$ (base algebra) one associates a monoidal category. Given an algebra $A$ in that category, one can construct an associative algebra $A\rtimes L$, which is a generalization of the ordinary smash product when $A$ is an ordinary $H$-algebra. We study this "dynamical smash product" and its modules induced from one-dimensional representation of the subalgebra $L$. In particular, we construct an analog of the Galois map $A\otimes_{A^H} A\to A\otimes H^*$.
We introduce the notion of a dilation for a partial representation (i.e. a partial module) of a Hopf algebra, which in case the partial representation origins from a partial action (i.e.a partial module algebra) coincides with the enveloping action (or globalization). This construction leads to categorical equivalences between the category of partial $H$-modules, a category of (global) $H$-modules endowed with a projection satisfying a suitable commutation relation and the category of modules over a (global) smash product constructed upon $H$, from which we deduce the structure of a Hopfish al…
The characterization of $H$-prime radical is given in many ways. Meantime, the relations between the radical of smash product $R # H$ and the $H$-radical of Hopf module algebra $R$ are obtained.
Primitive cohomology of a Hopf algebra is defined by using a modification of the cobar construction of the underlying coalgebra. Among many of its applications, two classifications are presented. Firstly we classify all non locally PI, pointed Hopf algebra domains of Gelfand-Kirillov dimension two; and secondly we classify all pointed Hopf algebras of rank one. The first classification extends some results of Brown, Goodearl and others in an ongoing project to understand all Hopf algebras of low Gelfand-Kirillov dimension. The second generalizes results of Krop-Radford and Wang-You-Chen which …
Let g be a finite-dimensional complex Lie algebra, and let U(g) be its universal enveloping algebra. We prove that if \hat{U}(g), the Arens-Michael envelope of U(g), is stably flat over U(g) (i.e., if the canonical homomorphism U(g)-->\hat{U}(g) is a localization in the sense of Taylor), then g is solvable. To this end, given a cocommutative Hopf algebra H and an H-module algebra A, we explicitly describe the Arens-Michael envelope of the smash product A#H as an ``analytic smash product'' of their completions w.r.t. certain families of seminorms.
Let $H$ be a Hopf algebra over a field $k$, and $A$ an $H$-comodule algebra. The categories of comodules and relative Hopf modules are then Grothendieck categories with enough injectives. We study the derived functors of the associated Hom functors, and of the coinvariants functor, and discuss spectral sequences that connect them. We also discuss when the coinvariants functor preserves injectives.
Let $G$ be a group which admits a generating set consisting of finite order elements. We prove that any Hopf algebra which factorizes through the Taft algebra and the group Hopf algebra $K[G]$ (equivalently, any bicrossed product between the aforementioned Hopf algebras) is isomorphic to a smash product between the same two Hopf algebras. The classification of these smash products is shown to be strongly linked to the problem of describing the group automorphisms of $G$. As an application, we completely describe by generators and relations and classify all bicrossed products between the Taft a…
In continuation of our recent work about smash product Hom-Hopf algebras in \cite{MLY}, we introduce Hom-Yetter-Drinfeld category $_H^H{\mathbb{YD}}$ via Radford biproduct Hom-Hopf algebra, and prove that the Hom-Yetter-Drinfeld modules can provide solutions of the Hom-Yang-Baxter equation and $_H^H{\mathbb{YD}}$ is a pre-braided tensor category, where $(H, \b, S)$ is a Hom-Hopf algebra. Furthermore, we obtain that $(A^{\natural}_{\diamond} H,\aø\b)$ is a Radford biproduct Hom-Hopf algebra if and only if $(A,\a)$ is a Hopf algebra in the category $_H^H{\mathbb{YD}}$. At last, some examples and…
The effectiveness of the aplication of constructions in $G$-graded $k$-categories to the computation of the fundamental group of a finite dimensional $k$-algebra, alongside with open problems still left untouched by those methods and new problems arisen from the introduction of the concept of fundamental group of a $k$-linear category, motivated the investigation of $H$-module categories, i.e., actions of a Hopf algebra $H$ on a $k$-linear category. The $G$-graded case corresponds then to actions of the Hopf algebra $k^G$ on a $k$-linear category. In this work we take a step further and introd…
We introduce non-abelian cohomology sets of Hopf algebras with coefficients in Hopf modules. We prove that these sets generalize Serre's non-abelian group cohomology theory. Using descent techniques, we establish that our construction enables to classify as well twisted forms for modules over Hopf-Galois extensions as torsors over Hopf-modules.
For module algebras and module coalgebras over an arbitrary bialgebra, we define two types of bivariant cyclic cohomology groups called bivariant Hopf cyclic cohomology and bivariant equivariant cyclic cohomology. These groups are defined through an extension of Connes' cyclic category $Λ$. We show that, in the case of module coalgebras, bivariant Hopf cyclic cohomology specializes to Hopf cyclic cohomology of Connes and Moscovici and its dual version by fixing either one of the variables as the ground field. We also prove an appropriate version of Morita invariance for both of these theories.
The finite dual $H^{\circ}$ of an affine commutative-by-finite Hopf algebra $H$ is studied. Such a Hopf algebra $H$ is an extension of an affine commutative Hopf algebra $A$ by a finite dimensional Hopf algebra $F$. The main theorem gives natural conditions under which $H^{\circ}$ decomposes as a crossed or smash product of $F^{\ast}$ by the finite dual of $A$. This decomposition is then further analysed using the Cartier- Gabriel-Kostant theorem to obtain component Hopf subalgebras of $H^{\circ}$ mapping onto the classical components of $A^{\circ}$. The detailed consequences for a number of f…
In this work, the cohomology theory for partial actions of co-commutative Hopf algebras over commutative algebras is formulated. This theory generalizes the cohomology theory for Hopf algebras introduced by Sweedler and the cohomology theory for partial group actions, introduced by Dokuchaev and Khrypchenko. Some nontrivial examples, not coming from groups are constructed. Given a partial action of a co-commutative Hopf algebra $H$ over a commutative algebra $A$, we prove that there exists a new Hopf algebra $\widetilde{A}$, over a commutative ring $E(A)$, upon which $H$ still acts partially a…
We give explicit formulas for maps in a long exact sequence connecting bialgebra cohomology to Hochschild cohomology. We give a sufficient condition for the connecting homomorphism to be surjective. We apply these results to compute all bialgebra two-cocycles of certain Radford biproducts (bosonizations). These two-cocycles are precisely those associated to the finite dimensional pointed Hopf algebras in the recent classification of Andruskiewitsch and Schneider, in an interpretation of these Hopf algebras as graded bialgebra deformations of Radford biproducts.
By work of Farinati, Solberg, and Taillefer, it is known that the Hopf algebra cohomology of a quasi-triangular Hopf algebra, as a graded Lie algebra under the Gerstenhaber bracket, is abelian. Motivated by the question of whether this holds for nonquasi-triangular Hopf algebras, we show that Gerstenhaber brackets on Hopf algebra cohomology can be expressed via an arbitrary projective resolution using Volkov's homotopy liftings as generalized to some exact monoidal categories. This is a special case of our more general result that a bracket operation on cohomology is preserved under exact mono…
We prove finite generation of the cohomology ring of any finite dimensional pointed Hopf algebra, having abelian group of grouplike elements, under some mild restrictions on the group order. The proof uses the recent classification by Andruskiewitsch and Schneider of such Hopf algebras. Examples include all of Lusztig's small quantum groups, whose cohomology was first computed explicitly by Ginzburg and Kumar, as well as many new pointed Hopf algebras. We also show that in general the cohomology ring of a Hopf algebra in a braided category is braided commutative. As a consequence we obtain som…
Let $A$ be a finite dimensional symmetric Hopf algebra over a field $k$. We show that there are $A$-modules whose Tate cohomology is not finitely generated over the Tate cohomology ring of $A$. However, we also construct $A$-modules which have finitely generated Tate cohomology. It turns out that if a module in a connected component of the stable Auslander-Reiten quiver associated to $A$ has finitely generated Tate cohomology, then so does every module in that component. We apply some of these finite generation results on Tate cohomology to an algebra defined by Radford and to the restricted u…
Let $H$ be a Hopf algebra. We consider $H$-equivariant modules over a Hopf module category $\mathcal C$ as modules over the smash extension $\mathcal C\# H$. We construct Grothendieck spectral sequences for the cohomologies as well as the $H$-locally finite cohomologies of these objects. We also introduce relative $(\mathcal D,H)$-Hopf modules over a Hopf comodule category $\mathcal D$. These generalize relative $(A,H)$-Hopf modules over an $H$-comodule algebra $A$. We construct Grothendieck spectral sequences for their cohomologies by using their rational $Hom$ objects and higher derived func…
Based on a pairing of two regular multiplier Hopf algebras $A$ and $B$, Heisenberg double $\mathscr{H}$ is the smash product $A \# B$ with respect to the left regular action of $B$ on $A$. Let $\mathscr{D}=A\bowtie B$ be the Drinfel'd double, then Heisenberg double $\mathscr{H}$ is a Yetter-Drinfel'd $\mathscr{D}$-module algebra, and it is also braided commutative by the braiding of Yetter-Drinfel'd module, which generalizes the results in [10] to some infinite dimensional cases.
We introduce Yetter-Drinfeld modules over a weak Hopf algebra $H$, and show that the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules is isomorphic to the center of the category of $H$-modules. The categories of left-left, left-right, right-left and right-right Yetter-Drinfeld modules are isomorphic as braided monoidal categories. Yetter-Drinfeld modules can be viewed as weak Doi-Hopf modules, and, a fortiori, as weak entwined modules. If $H$ is finitely generated and projective, then we introduce the Drinfeld double using duality results between entwining structures and smash product structures, and show …
Partial actions of Hopf algebras can be considered as a generalization of partial actions of groups on algebras. Among important properties of partial Hopf actions, it is possible to assure the existence of enveloping actions. This allows to extend several results from the theory of partial group actions to the Hopf algebraic setting. In this article, we explore some properties of the fixed point subalgebra with relations to a partial action of a Hopf algebra. We also construct, for partial actions of finite dimensional Hopf algebras a Morita context relating the fixed point subalgebra and the…
