Let $D_j\subset\Bbb C^{n_j}$ be a pseudoconvex domain and let $A_j\subset D_j$ be a locally pluriregular set, $j=1,...,N$. Put $$ X:=\bigcup_{j=1}^N A_1\times...\times A_{j-1}\times D_j\times A_{j+1}\times ...\times A_N\subset\Bbb C^{n_1}\times...\times\Bbb C^{n_N}=\Bbb C^n. $$ Let $U\subset\Bbb C^n$ be an open neighborhood of $X$ and let $M\subset U$ be a relatively closed subset of $U$. For $j\in\{1,...,N\}$ let $Σ_j$ be the set of all $(z',z'')\in(A_1\times...\times A_{j-1}) \times(A_{j+1}\times...\times A_N)$ for which the fiber $M_{(z',\cdot,z'')}:=\{z_j\in\Bbb C^{n_j}\: (z',z_j,z'')\in M\}$ is not pluripolar. Assume that $Σ_1,...,Σ_N$ are pluripolar. Put $$ X':=\bigcup_{j=1}^N\{(z',z_j,z'')\in(A_1\times...\times A_{j-1})\times D_j \times(A_{j+1}\times...\times A_N)\: (z',z'')\notinΣ_j\}. $$ Then there exists a relatively closed pluripolar subset $\hat M\subset\hat X$ of the `envelope of holomorphy' $\hat X\subset\Bbb C^n$ of $X$ such that: $\hat M\cap X'\subset M$, for every function $f$ separately holomorphic on $X\setminus M$ there exists exactly one function $\hat f$ holomorphic on $\hat X\setminus\hat M$ with $\hat f=f$ on $X'\setminus M$, and $\hat M$ is singular with respect to the family of all functions $\hat f$. Some special cases were previously studied in \cite{Jar-Pfl 2001c}.
We prove that the image of a finely holomorphic map on a fine domain in $\mathbb{C}$ is pluripolar subset of $\mathbb{C}^{n}$. We also discuss the relationship between pluripolar hulls and finely holomorphic function.
We study the pluripolar hull of the graph of a holomorphic function f, defined on a domain D in the complex plane outside a polar set A of D. This leads to a theorem that describes under what conditions f is nowhere extendable over A, while the graph of f over D \ A is NOT complete pluripolar.
Let A be a closed polar subset of a domain D in the complex plane C. We give a complete description of the pluripolar hull in D X C of the graph of a holomorphic function defined on D A. To achieve this, we prove for pluriharmonic measure certain semi-continuity properties and a localization principle.
The aim of this paper is to present an extension theorem for the functions separately holomorphic on generalized (N,k)-crosses with pluripolar singularities.
We prove that in the extension theorem for separately holomorphic functions on an $N$-fold cross with singularities the case of analytic singularities follows from the case of pluripolar singularities.
We prove that every bounded finely plurisubharmonic function can be locally (in the pluri-fine topology) written as the difference of two usual plurisubharmonic functions. As a consequence finely plurisubharmonic functions are continuous with respect to the pluri-fine topology. Moreover we show that -infinity sets of finely plurisubharmonic functions are pluripolar, hence graphs of finely holomorphic functions are pluripolar.
Let $D_j\subset\mathbb C^{n_j}$ be a pseudoconvex domain and let $A_j\subset D_j$ be a locally pluriregular set, $j=1,...,N$. We prove the following theorem: Let X be a Stein manifold of dimension at least 2 and Y a closed complete pluripolar subset of X. Given a point p in the complement of Y there is a proper holomorphic map f from the unit disc to X such that f(0)=p and the image of f avoids Y.
Let D_1 be a subdomain of D_2 in the complex plane CC. Under very mild conditions on D_2 we show that there exist holomorphic functions f, defined on D_1 with the property that $f$ is nowhere extendible across the boundary of D_1, while the graph of f over D_1 is NOT complete pluripolar in D_2 times CC. This refutes a conjecture of Levenberg, Martin and Poletsky.
We prove an analogue of Sadullaev's theorem concerning the size of the set where a maximal totally real manifold can meet a pluripolar set. The manifold has to be of class C-1 only. This readily leads to a version of Shcherbina's theorem for C-1 functions f that are defined in a neighborhood of certain compact sets K in the complex plane. If the graph of f on K is pluripolar, then f satisfies the Cauchy Riemann equations in the closure of the fine interior of K.
Examples by Poletsky and the author and by Zwonek show the existence nowhere extendable holomorphic functions with the property that the pluripolar hull of their graphs is much larger than the graph of the respective functions and contains multiple sheets. We will explain this phenomenon by fine analytic continuation of the function over part of a Cantor-type set involved. This gives more information on the hull, and allows for weakening and effectiveness of the conditions in the original examples.
In this article, we consider currents given by the p-fold non-pluripolar product associated with a quasi-plurisubharmonic function of finite energy, and prove that normalized pull-backs of such currents converge to the Green (p, p)-current exponentially fast in the sense of currents for holomorphic endomorphisms of Pk.
A weak and a strong concept of plurifinely plurisubharmonic and plurifinely holomorphic functions are introduced. Strong will imply weak. The weak concept is studied further. A function f is weakly plurifinely plurisubharmonic if and only if f o h is finely subharmonic for all complex affine-linear maps h. As a consequence, the regularization in the plurifine topology of a pointwise supremum of such functions is weakly plurifinely plurisubharmonic, and it differs from the pointwise supremum at most on a pluripolar set. Weak plurifine plurisubharmonicity and weak plurifine holomorphy are preser…
We describe a part of the recent developments in the theory of separately holomorphic mappings between complex analytic spaces. Our description focuses on works using the technique of holomorphic discs.
We first exhibit counterexamples to some open questions related to a theorem of Sakai. Then we establish an extension theorem of Sakai type for separately holomorphic/meromorphic functions.
Using recent development in Poletsky theory of discs, we prove the following result: Let $X,$ $Y$ be two complex manifolds, let $Z$ be a complex analytic space which possesses the Hartogs extension property, let $A$ (resp. $B$) be a non locally pluripolar subset of $X$ (resp. $Y$). We show that every separately holomorphic mapping $f: W:=(A\times Y) \cup (X\times B)\longrightarrow Z$ extends to a holomorphic mapping $\hat{f}$ on $\hat{W}:=\left\lbrace(z,w)\in X\times Y:\ \widetildeω(z,A,X)+\widetildeω(w,B,Y)<1 \right\rbrace$ such that $\hat{f}=f$ on $W\cap \hat{W},$ where $\widetildeω(\cdot,A,…

Let $f$ be a holomorphic endomorphism of $\mathbb{CP}^k$ having an attracting set $A$. In this paper, we address the question of the "size" of $A$ in a pluripolar sense. We introduce a conceptually simple framework to have non-algebraic attracting sets. We prove that adding a dimensional condition, these sets support a closed positive current with bounded quasi-potential (which answers a question from T.C. Dinh). Therefore, they are not pluripolar. Moreover, the examples are abundant on $\mathbb{CP}^k$.
We establish extension theorems for separately holomorphic mappings defined on sets of the form W\setminus M with values in a complex analytic space which possesses the Hartogs extension property. Here W is a 2-fold cross of arbitrary complex manifolds and M is a set of singularities which is locally pluripolar (resp. thin) in fibers.
We extend the theory of separately holomorphic mappings between complex analytic spaces. Our method is based on Poletsky theory of discs, Rosay Theorem on holomorphic discs and our recent joint-work with Pflug on cross theorems in dimension 1. It also relies on our new technique of conformal mappings and a generalization of Siciak's relative extremal function. Our approach illustrates the unified character: ``From local informations to global extensions". Moreover, it avoids systematically the use of the classical method of doubly orthogonal bases of Bergman type.
Let $D_j\subset\Bbb C^{k_j}$ be a pseudoconvex domain and let $A_j\subset D_j$ be a locally pluripolar set, $j=1,...,N$. Put$$X:=\bigcup_{j=1}^N A_1\times...\times A_{j-1}\times D_j\times A_{j+1}\times...\times A_N\subset\Bbb C^{k_1+...+k_N}.$$Let $U$ be an open connected neighborhood of $X$ and let $M\varsubsetneq U$ be an analytic subset. Then there exists an analytic subset $\hat M$ of the `envelope of holomorphy' $\hat X$ of $X$ with $\hat M\cap X\subset M$ such that for every function $f$ separately holomorphic on $X\setminus M$ there exists an $\hat f$ holomorphic on $\hat X\setminus\hat…
Let $D\subset \C^n,$ $G\subset \C^m$ be pseudoconvex domains, let $A$ (resp. $B$) be an open subset of the boundary $\partial D$ (resp. $\partial G$) and let $X$ be the 2-fold cross $((D\cup A)\times B)\cup (A\times(B\cup G)).$ Suppose in addition that the domain $D$ (resp. $G$) is {\it locally $\mathcal{C}^2$ smooth on $A$} (resp. $B$). We shall determine the "envelope of holomorphy" $\hat{X}$ of $X$ in the sense that any function continuous on $X$ and separately holomorphic on $(A\times G) \cup (D\times B)$ extends to a function continuous on $\hat{X}$ and holomorphic on the interior of $\ha…
For each $n\geq2$ we construct an unbounded closed pseudoconcave complete pluripolar set $\mathcal E$ in $\mathbb C^n$ which contains no analytic variety of positive dimension (we call it a \textit{Wermer type set}). We also construct an unbounded strictly pseudoconvex domain $Ω$ in $\mathbb C^n$ and a smooth $CR$ function $f$ on $\partialΩ$ which has a single-valued holomorphic extension exactly to the set $\barΩ\setminus\mathcal E$.}
We apply a notion of geodesics of plurisubharmonic functions to interpolation of compact subsets of $C^n$. Namely, two non-pluripolar, polynomially closed, compact subsets of $C^n$ are interpolated as level sets $L_t=\{z: u_t(z)=-1\}$ for the geodesic $u_t$ between their relative extremal functions with respect to any ambient bounded domain. The sets $L_t$ are described in terms of certain holomorphic hulls. In the toric case, it is shown that the relative Monge-Ampère capacities of $L_t$ satisfy a dual Brunn-Minkowski inequality.
Let $\mathbb{B}^2$ denote the open unit ball in $\mathbb{C}^2$, and let $p\in \mathbb{C}^2\setminus\overline{\mathbb{B}^2}$. We prove that if $f$ is an analytic function on the sphere $\partial\mathbb{B}^2$ that extends holomorphically in each variable separately and along each complex line through $p$, then $f$ is the trace of a holomorphic function in the ball.
Let $X, Y$ be two complex manifolds, let $D\subset X,$ $ G\subset Y$ be two nonempty open sets, let $A$ (resp. $B$) be an open subset of $\partial D$ (resp. $\partial G$), and let $W$ be the 2-fold cross $((D\cup A)\times B)\cup (A\times(B\cup G)).$ Under a geometric condition on the boundary sets $A$ and $B,$ we show that every function locally bounded, separately continuous on $W,$ continuous on $A\times B,$ and separately holomorphic on $(A\times G) \cup (D\times B)$ "extends" to a function continuous on a "domain of holomorphy" $\hat{W}$ and holomorphic on the interior of $\hat{W}.$
Let $D$ be a domain in the complex plane, $M$ be an extended real function on $D$. If $f$ is a non-zero holomorphic function on $D$ with an upper constraint $|f|\leq \exp M$ on this domain $D$, then it is natural to expect that there must be some upper constraints on the distribution of zeros of this holomorphic function exclusively in terms of the function $M$ and the geometry of the domain $D$. We have investigated this question in detail in our previous works in the case when $M$ is a subharmonic function and the domain $D$ is arbitrary or with a non-polar boundary. The answer was given in …
The main result of this paper is some "annulus" formula for the relative extremal function in the context of Stein spaces (Theorem 1.1). Our result may be useful in the theory of the extension of separately holomorphic functions on generalized (N,k)-crosses lying in the product of Stein manifolds (Theorem 4.6).
Let $D, G\subset{\Bbb C}$ be domains, let $A\subset D$, $B\subset G$ be locally regular sets, and let $X:=(D\times B)\cup(A\times G)$. Assume that $A$ is a Borel set. Let $M$ be a proper analytic subset of an open neighborhood of $X$. Then there exists a pure 1-dimensional analytic subset $\hat M$ of the envelope of holomorphy $\hat X$ of $X$ such that any function separately holomorphic on $X\setminus M$ extends to a holomorphic function on $\hat X\setminus\hat M$. The result generalizes special cases which were studied in \cite{Ökt 1998}, \cite{Ökt 1999a}, and \cite{Sic 2000}.

Given a domain $D$ in $\mathbb{C}^n$ and $K$ a compact subset of $D$, the set $\mathcal{A}_K^D$ of all restrictions of functions holomorphic on $D$ the modulus of which is bounded by $1$ is a compact subset of the Banach space $C(K)$ of continuous functions on $K$. The sequence $(d_m(\mathcal{A}_K^D))_{m\in \mathbb{N}}$ of Kolmogorov $m$-widths of $\mathcal{A}_K^D$ provides a measure of the degree of compactness of the set $\mathcal{A}_K^D$ in $C(K)$ and the study of its asymptotics has a long history, essentially going back to Kolmogorov's work on $ε$-entropy of compact sets in the 1950s. We discuss the problem of the existence of envelopes of holomorphy of the A-crosses, which leads us to the far-reaching generalizations of the famous Hartogs theorem. We also take under consideration the issue of the existence of "nice" general descriptions of envelopes of holomorphy of the cross-like objects in terms of the relative extremal function, which seems to be very natural in the light of the extension theory of separately holomorphic functions on classical crosses and (N,k)-crosses.
Let $X, Y$ be two complex manifolds of dimension 1 which are countable at infinity, let $D\subset X,$ $ G\subset Y$ be two open sets, let $A$ (resp. $B$) be a subset of $\partial D$ (resp. $\partial G$), and let $W$ be the 2-fold cross $((D\cup A)\times B)\cup (A\times(B\cup G)).$ Suppose in addition that $D$ (resp. $G$) is {\it Jordan-curve-like on $A$} (resp. $B$) and that $A$ and $B$ are {\it of positive length}. We determine the "envelope of holomorphy" $\hat{W}$ of $W$ in the sense that any function locally bounded on $W,$ measurable on $A\times B,$ and separately holomorphic on $(A\times…
Let $D$ and $G$ be copies of the open unit disc in $\C,$ let $A$ (resp. $B$) be a measurable subset of $\partial D$ (resp. $\partial G$), let $W$ be the 2-fold cross $\big((D\cup A)\times B\big)\cup \big(A\times(B\cup G)\big),$ and let $M$ be a relatively closed subset of $W.$ Suppose in addition that $A$ and $B$ are of positive one-dimensional Lebesgue measure and that $M$ is fiberwise polar (resp. fiberwise discrete) and that $M\cap (A\times B)=\varnothing.$ We determine the "envelope of holomorphy" $\hat{W\setminus M}$ of $W\setminus M$ in the sense that any function locally bounded on $W\s…
In this article we consider the following equivalence relation on the class of all functions of two variables on a set $X$: we will say that $L,M: X\times X\to \mathbb{C}$ are rescalings if there are non-vanishing functions $f,g$ on $X$ such that $M\left(x,y\right)=f\left(x\right)g\left(y\right) L\left(x,y\right)$, for any $x,y\in X$. We give criteria for being rescalings when $X$ is a topological space, and $L$ and $M$ are separately continuous, or when $X$ is a domain in $\mathbb{C}^{n}$ and $L$ and $M$ are sesqui-holomorphic. A special case of interest is when $L$ and $M$ are symmetric, and…
