We classify, up to a local isometry, all non-Kahler almost Kahler 4-manifolds for which the fundamental 2-form is an eigenform of the Weyl tensor, and whose Ricci tensor is invariant with respect to the almost complex structure. Equivalently, such almost Kahler 4-manifolds satisfy the third curvature condition of A. Gray. We use our local classification to show that, in the compact case, the third curvature condition of Gray is equivalent to the integrability of the corresponding almost complex structure.
Among other results, a compact almost Kähler manifold is proved to be Kähler if the Ricci tensor is semi-negative and its length coincides with that of the star Ricci tensor or if the Ricci tensor is semi-positive and its first order covariant derivatives are Hermitian. Moreover, it is shown that there are no compact almost Kähler manifolds with harmonic Weyl tensor and non-parallel semi-positive Ricci tensor. Stronger results are obtained in dimension 4.
We survey some recent results and constructions of almost-Kähler manifolds whose curvature tensors have certain algebraic symmetries. This is an updated and corrected version of the (to be) published manuscript.
If $W_+$ denotes the self dual part of the Weyl tensor of any Kähler 4-manifold and $S$ its scalar curvature, then the relation $|W_+|^2 = S^2/6$ is well-known. For any almost Kähler 4-manifold with $S \ge 0$, this condition forces the Kähler property. A compact almost Kähler 4-manifold is already Kähler if it satisfies the conditions $| W_+ |^2 = S^2/6$ and $δW_+=0$ and also if it is Einstein and $| W_+|$ is constant. Some further results of this type are proved. An almost Hermitian 4-manifold $(M,g,J)$ with $\mathrm{supp} (W_+)=M$ is already Kähler if it satisfies the condition $| W_+ |^2 = …
We establish a new criterion for a compatible almost complex structure on a symplectic four-manifold to be integrable and hence Kähler. Our main theorem shows that the existence of three linearly independent closed J-anti-invariant two-forms implies the integrability of the almost complex structure. This proves the conjecture of Draghici-Li-Zhang in the almost-Kähler case
The various scalar curvatures on an almost Hermitian manifold are studied, in particular with respect to conformal variations. We show several integrability theorems, which state that two of these can only agree in the Kähler case. Our main question is the existence of almost Kähler metrics with conformally constant Chern scalar curvature. This problem is completely solved for ruled manifolds and in a complementary case where methods from the Chern-Yamabe problem are adapted to the non-integrable case. Also a moment map interpretation of the problem is given, leading to a Futaki invariant and …
We study the question of integrability of a compatible almost complex structure on a compact symplectic 4-manifold, under various natural assumptions on the curvature of the associated almost Kahler metric.
The local structure of 4-dimensional, conformally flat, almost $ε$-Kählerian (i.e., almost pseudo-Kählerian and almost para-Kählerian) manifolds is characterized with the help of left-regular and right-regular paraquaternionic functions. Examples of such structures are discussed.
In this paper, the notion of an almost contact Kählerian structure is introduced. The interior geometry of almost contact Kählerian spaces is investigated. On the zero-curvature distribution of an almost contact metric structure, as on the total space of a vector bundle, an almost contact Kählerian structure is obtained.
The covariant derivative of the Kähler form of an almost pseudo-Hermitian or of an almost para-Hermitian manifold satisfies certain algebraic relations. We show, conversely, that any 3-tensor which satisfies these algebraic relations can be realized geometrically.
The aim of this paper is to determine left-invariant strictly almost Kähler structures on 4-dimensional Lie groups $(g, J, Ω)$ such that the Ricci tensor is $J$-invariant.
The notion of Kodaira dimension has recently been extended to general almost complex manifolds. In this paper we focus on the Kodaira dimension of almost Kähler manifolds, providing an explicit computation for a family of almost Kähler threefolds on the differentiable manifold underlying a Nakamura manifold. We concentrate also on the link between Kodaira dimension and the curvature of the canonical connection of an almost Kähler manifold, and show that in the previous example (and in another one obtained from a Kodaira surface) the Ricci curvature of the almost Kähler metric vanishes for all …
We show the existence of strictly almost-Kahler anti-self-dual metrics on certain 4-manifolds by deforming scalar-flat Kahler metrics. On the other hand, we prove the non-existence of such metrics on certain other 4-manifolds by means of Seiberg-Witten theory. In the process, we provide a simple new proof of the fact that any almost-Kahler anti-self-dual 4-manifold must have a non-trivial Seiberg-Witten invariant.
In this paper, we prove that a sequence of weak almost Kähler-Ricci solitons under further suitable conditions converge to a Kähler-Ricci soliton with complex codimension of singularities at least 2 in the Gromov-Hausdorff topology. As a corollary, we show that on a Fano manifold with the modified K-energy bounded below, there exists a sequence of weak almost Kähler-Ricci solitons which converge to a Kähler-Ricci soliton with complex codimension of singularities at least 2 in the Gromov-Hausdorff topology.
We show that a closed almost Kähler 4-manifold of globally constant holomorphic sectional curvature $k\geq 0$ with respect to the canonical Hermitian connection is automatically Kähler. The same result holds for $k<0$ if we require in addition that the Ricci curvature is J-invariant. The proofs are based on the observation that such manifolds are self-dual, so that Chern-Weil theory implies useful integral formulas, which are then combined with results from Seiberg--Witten theory.
We study the J-invariant and J-anti-invariant cohomological subgroups of the de Rham cohomology of a compact manifold M endowed with an almost-Kähler structure (J, ω, g). In particular, almost-Kähler manifolds satisfying a Lefschetz type property, and solvmanifolds endowed with left-invariant almost-complex structures are investigated.
We show that any non-Kahler, almost Kahler 4-manifold for which both the Ricci and the Weyl curvatures have the same algebraic symmetries as they have for a Kahler metric is locally isometric to the (only) proper 3-symmetric 4-dimensional space described by O. Kowalski.
It is proved that if an almost Kähler manifold of dimension greater or equal to 8 is of pointwise constant antiholomorphic sectional curvature, then it is a complex space form.
We study left-invariant generalized Kähler structures on almost abelian Lie groups, i.e., on solvable Lie groups with a codimension-one abelian normal subgroup. In particular, we classify six-dimensional almost abelian Lie groups which admit a left-invariant complex structure and establish which of those have a left-invariant Hermitian structure whose fundamental 2-form is $\partial \bar \partial$-closed. We obtain a classification of six-dimensional generalized Kähler almost abelian Lie groups and determine the 6-dimensional compact almost abelian solvmanifolds admitting an invariant generali…
In this short note we prove that a Kahler manifold with lower Ricci curvature bound and almost maximal volume is Gromov-Hausdorff close to the projective space with the Fubini-Study metric. This is done by combining the recent results of Kewei Zhang and Yuchen Liu on holomorphic rigidity of such Kahler manifolds with the structure theorem of Tian-Wang for almost Einstein manifolds. This can be regarded as the complex analog of the result on Colding on the shape of Riemannian manifolds with almost maximal volume
The main purpose of this article is to prove that there exist no proper $AK_3$-manifold of dimension $2n\ge 6$ with vanishing Tricerri-Vanhecke Bochner curvature tensor and constant scalar curvature.
We characterize quasi Kähler manifolds whose curvature tensor associated to the canonical Hermitian connection satisfies the first Bianchi identity. This condition is related with the third Gray identity and in the almost Kähler case implies the integrability. Our main tool is the existence of generalized holomorphic frames introduced by the second author previously. By using such frames we also give a simpler and shorter proof of a Theorem of Goldberg. Furthermore we study almost Hermitian structures having the curvature tensor associated to the canonical Hermitian connection equal to zero. W…
In this paper, we give a lower bound of Bergman kernels for a sequence of almost Kähler-Einstein Fano manifolds, or more general, a sequence of Fano manifolds with almost Kähler-Ricci solitons. This generalizes a result by Donaldson-Sun, Tian for Kähler-Einstein manifolds sequence with positive scalar curvature. As an application of our result, we prove that the Gromov-Hausdorff limit of sequence is homomorphic to a log terminal $Q$-Fano variety which admits a Kähler-Ricci soliton on its smooth part.
This paper is concerned with the existence of metrics of constant Hermitian scalar curvature on almost-Kähler manifolds obtained as smoothings of a constant scalar curvature Kähler orbifold, with $A_1$ singularities. More precisely, given such an orbifold that does not admit nontrivial holomorphic vector fields, we show that an almost-Kähler smoothing $(M_\varepsilon, ω_\varepsilon)$ admits an almost-Kähler structure $(\hat J_\varepsilon, \hat g_\varepsilon)$ of constant Hermitian curvature. Moreover, we show that for $\varepsilon>0$ small enough, the $(M_\varepsilon, ω_\varepsilon)$ are all s…
On a 4-dimensional compact symplectic manifold, we consider a smooth family of compatible almost-complex structures such that at time zero the induced metric is Hermite-Einstein almost-Kähler metric with zero or negative Hermitian scalar curvature. We prove, under certain hypothesis, the existence of a smooth family of compatible almost-complex structures, diffeomorphic at each time to the initial family, and inducing constant Hermitian scalar curvature metrics.
The space $SL(2,\mathbb{R})\times SL(2,\mathbb{R})$ admits a natural homogeneous pseudo-Riemannian nearly Kaehler structure. We investigate almost complex surfaces in this space. In particular we obtain a complete classification of the totally geodesic almost complex surfaces and of the almost complex surfaces with parallel second fundamental form.
It is proved that if an AK2-manifold of dimension greater or equal to 6 is of pointwise constant antiholomorphic sectional curvature, then it is a 6-dimensional manifold of constant negative sectional curvature or a Kähler manifold of constant holomorphic sectional curvature.
We prove that compact Kähler manifolds whose sectional curvatures are close to 1/4-pinched have ratios of Chern numbers close to the corresponding ratios of a complex hyperbolic space form. We deduce that the Mostow-Siu surfaces (and their three-dimensional analogues constructed by the first author) do not admit Kähler metrics with pinching close to 1/4.
An {\em almost p-Kähler manifold} is a triple $(M,J,Ω)$, where $(M,J)$ is an almost complex manifold of real dimension $2n$ and $Ω$ is a closed real tranverse $(p,p)$-form on $(M,J)$, where $1\leq p\leq n$. When $J$ is integrable, almost $p$-Kähler manifolds are called $p$-{\em Kähler manifolds}. We produce families of almost $p$-Kähler structures $(J_t,Ω_t)$ on $\C^3$, $\C^4$, and on the real torus $\mathbb{T}^6$, arising as deformations of Kähler structures $(J_0,g_0,ω_0)$, such that the almost complex structures $J_t$ cannot be locally compatible with any symplectic form for $t\neq 0$. Furt…
In this paper almost complex surfaces of the nearly Kähler $S^3\times S^3$ are studied in a systematic way. We show that on such a surface it is possible to define a global holomorphic differential, which is induced by an almost product structure on the nearly Kähler $S^3\times S^3$. We also find a correspondence between almost complex surfaces in the nearly Kähler $S^3\times S^3$ and solutions of the general $H$-system equation introduced by Wente, thus obtaining a geometric interpretation of solutions of the general $H$-system equation. From this we deduce a correspondence between constant m…
In this paper, we consider left-invariant para-complex structures on six-dimensional nilpotent Lie groups. A complete list of six-dimensional nilpotent Lie groups that admit para-Kähler structures is obtained, explicit expressions for para-complex structures are found, and curvature properties of associated para-Kähler metrics are investigated. It is shown that paracomplex structures are nilpotent and the corresponding para-Kähler metrics are Ricci-flat.
We show a higher order integrability theorem for distributions generated by a family of vector fields under a horizontal regularity assumption on their coefficients. We use as chart a class of almost exponential maps which we discuss in details
Let $(X,J,g,ω)$ be a compact $2n$-dimensional almost-Kähler manifold. We prove primitive decompositions of $\partial$-, $\overline{\partial}$-harmonic forms on $X$ in bidegree $(1,1)$ and $(n-1,n-1)$ (such bidegrees appear to be optimal). We provide examples showing that in bidegree $(1,1)$ the $\partial$- and $\overline{\partial}$-decompositions differ.
On 5-dimensional almost contact B-metric manifolds, the form of any Kähler-type tensor (i.e. a tensor satisfying the properties of the curvature tensor of the Levi-Civita connection in the special class of the parallel structures on the manifold) is determined. The associated 1-forms are derived by the scalar curvatures of the Kähler-type tensor for the canonical connection on the manifolds from the main classes with closed 1-forms.
Given a non compact semisimple Lie group $G$ we describe all homogeneous spaces $G/L$ carrying an invariant almost Kähler structure $(ω,J)$. When $L$ is abelian and $G$ is of classical type, we classify all such spaces which are Chern-Einstein, i.e. which satisfy $ρ= λω$ for some $λ\in\mathbb R$, where $ρ$ is the Ricci form associated to the Chern connection.
This note is concerned in so called harmonic complex structures introduced by the author previously. I will recall some previous results and emphasize the motivation: Provide an attempt to a fundamental problem in geometry--determining the complex structures on an almost complex manifold. I also discuss the almost-Hermitian case of harmonic complex structures and the connections with balanced structures.
In this article, we study the $L^{2}$-harmonic forms on the complete $2n$-dimensional almost Käher manifold $X$. We observe that the $L^{2}$-harmonic forms can decomposition into Lefschetz powers of primitive forms. Therefore we can extend vanishing theorems of $d$(bounded) (resp. $d$(sublinear)) Kähler manifold proved by Gromov (resp. Cao-Xavier, Jost-Zuo) to almost Kählerian case, that is, the spaces of all harmonic $(p,q)$-forms on $X$ vanishing unless $p+q=n$. We also give a lower bound on the spectra of the Laplace operator to sharpen the Lefschetz vanishing theorem on $d$(bounded) case.
We introduce the notion of Kähler manifolds that are almost Einstein and we define a generalized mean curvature vector field along submanifolds in them. We prove that Lagrangian submanifolds remain Lagrangian, when deformed in direction of the generalized mean curvature vector field. For a Kähler manifold that is almost Einstein, and which in addition has a trivial canonical bundle, we show that the generalized mean curvature vector field of a Lagrangian submanifold is the dual vector field associated to the Lagrangian angle.
The main purpose of the present work is to investigate statistical manifolds endowed with almost product structures. We prove that the statistical structure of a para-Kähler-like statistical manifold of constant curvature in the Kurose's sense is a Hessian structure. We also derive the main properties of statistical submersions which are compatible with almost product structures. The results are illustrated by several nontrivial examples.
We study the existence of lattices in almost abelian Lie groups that admit left invariant locally conformal Kähler or locally conformal symplectic structures in order to obtain compact solvmanifolds equipped with these geometric structures. In the former case, we show that such lattices exist only in dimension $4$, while in the latter case we provide examples of such Lie groups admitting lattices in any even dimension.
For a closed smooth manifold $M$ admitting a symplectic structure, we define a smooth topological invariant $Z(M)$ using almost-Kähler metrics, i.e. Riemannian metrics compatible with symplectic structures. We also introduce $Z(M, [[ω]])$ depending on symplectic deformation equivalence class $[[ω]]$. We first prove that there exists a 6-dimensional smooth manifold $M$ with more than one deformation equivalence classes with different signs of $Z(M, [[ω]] )$. Using $Z$ invariants, we set up a Kazdan-Warner type problem of classifying symplectic manifolds into three categories. We finally prove t…
We show that the almost complex structure underlying a non-Kahler, nearly Kahler 6-manifold (in particular, the standard almost complex structure of S^6) cannot be compatible with any symplectic form, even locally.
The set of maximal non-integrable structures $(SU(2)\times SU(2),B,I)$, where $B$ is Killing-Cartan metric is described as subset of $\mathbb{CP}^3$. The visualization of complex projective space $\mathbb{CP}^3$ as tetrahedron which edges and faces are $\mathbb{CP}^1$ and $\mathbb{CP}^2$ is used.
We provide a general criteria for the integrability of the almost para-quaternionic structure of an almost para-quaternionic manifold (M,P) of dimension bigger or equal to eight, in terms of the integrability of two or three sections of the defining rank three vector bundle P. We relate it with the integrability of the canonical almost complex structure of the twistor space and to the integrability of the canonical almost para-complex structure of the reflector space of (M,P). We show that (M, P) has plenty of locally defined, compatible, complex and para-complex structures, provided that P is…
We define a generalized almost para-Hermitian structure to be a commuting pair $(\mathcal{F},\mathcal{J})$ of a generalized almost para-complex structure and a generalized almost complex structure with an adequate non-degeneracy condition. If the two structures are integrable the pair is called a generalized para-Kähler structure. This class of structures contains both the classical para-Kähler structure and the classical Kähler structure. We show that a generalized almost para-Hermitian structure is equivalent to a triple $(γ,ψ,F)$, where $γ$ is a (pseudo) Riemannian metric, $ψ$ is a $2$-form…
It is known that there are 34 classes of isomorphic connected simply connected six-dimensional nilpotent Lie groups. Of these, only 26 classes suppose left-invariant symplectic structures \cite{Goze-Khakim-Med}. In \cite{CFU2} it is shown that 14 classes of symplectic six-dimensional nilpotent Lie groups suppose compatible complex structures and, therefore, define pseudo-Kähler metrics. In this paper we show that on the remaining 12 classes of six-dimensional nilpotent symplectic Lie groups there are left-invariant almost pseudo-Kähler metrics, and we study their geometrical properties.
A nearly Kähler manifold is an almost Hermitian manifold with the weakened Kähler condition, that is, instead of being zero, the covariant derivative of the almost complex structure is skew-symmetric. We give the explicit parameterization of geodesic lines on the nearly Kähler S^3\timesS^3.
In this paper we show that space of spatial polygons in semi riemann space gives a Kahler manifold. We describe the tangent space and almost complex structure which has many computational advantages.
Aguilar introduced isotropic almost complex structures $J_{δ, σ}$ on the tangent bundle of a Riemannian manifold $(M, g)$. In this paper, some results will be obtained on the integrability of these structures. These structures with the Liouville 1-form define a class of Riemannian metrics $g_{δ, σ}$ on $T M$ which are a generalization of the Sasaki metric. Moreover, the notion of a harmonic unit vector field is introduced with respect to these metrics like as the Sasaki metric and the necessary and sufficient conditions for a unit vector field to be a harmonic unit vector field are obtained.
We study the conditions under which an almost Hermitian structure $(G,J)$ of general natural lift type on the cotangent bundle $T^*M$ of a Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$ is K\" ahlerian. First, we obtain the algebraic conditions under which the manifold $(T^*M,G,J)$ is almost Hermitian. Next we get the integrability conditions for the almost complex structure $J$, then the conditions under which the associated 2-form is closed. The manifold $(T^*M,G,J)$ is K\" ahlerian iff it is almost Kahlerian and the almost complex structure $J$ is integrable. It follows that the family of Kahlerian structures…
