We survey some recent results and constructions of almost-Kähler manifolds whose curvature tensors have certain algebraic symmetries. This is an updated and corrected version of the (to be) published manuscript.
We classify, up to a local isometry, all non-Kahler almost Kahler 4-manifolds for which the fundamental 2-form is an eigenform of the Weyl tensor, and whose Ricci tensor is invariant with respect to the almost complex structure. Equivalently, such almost Kahler 4-manifolds satisfy the third curvature condition of A. Gray. We use our local classification to show that, in the compact case, the third curvature condition of Gray is equivalent to the integrability of the corresponding almost complex structure.
Among other results, a compact almost Kähler manifold is proved to be Kähler if the Ricci tensor is semi-negative and its length coincides with that of the star Ricci tensor or if the Ricci tensor is semi-positive and its first order covariant derivatives are Hermitian. Moreover, it is shown that there are no compact almost Kähler manifolds with harmonic Weyl tensor and non-parallel semi-positive Ricci tensor. Stronger results are obtained in dimension 4.
If $W_+$ denotes the self dual part of the Weyl tensor of any Kähler 4-manifold and $S$ its scalar curvature, then the relation $|W_+|^2 = S^2/6$ is well-known. For any almost Kähler 4-manifold with $S \ge 0$, this condition forces the Kähler property. A compact almost Kähler 4-manifold is already Kähler if it satisfies the conditions $| W_+ |^2 = S^2/6$ and $δW_+=0$ and also if it is Einstein and $| W_+|$ is constant. Some further results of this type are proved. An almost Hermitian 4-manifold $(M,g,J)$ with $\mathrm{supp} (W_+)=M$ is already Kähler if it satisfies the condition $| W_+ |^2 = …
We prove that any $4$-dimensional almost-Kähler Lie algebra of constant Hermitian holomorphic sectional curvature with respect to the canonical Hermitian connection is Kähler.
There is considered a connection with skew symmetric torsion on a quasi-Kähler manifold with Norden metric. Some necessary and sufficient conditions are derived for the corresponding curvature tensor to be Kählerian. In the case when this tensor is Kählerian, some relations are obtained between its scalar curvature and the scalar curvature of other curvature tensors. Conditions are given for the considered manifolds to be isotropic-Kähler.
We establish a new criterion for a compatible almost complex structure on a symplectic four-manifold to be integrable and hence Kähler. Our main theorem shows that the existence of three linearly independent closed J-anti-invariant two-forms implies the integrability of the almost complex structure. This proves the conjecture of Draghici-Li-Zhang in the almost-Kähler case
In this paper we show that on a Fano manifold the convergence of the Kähler-Ricci flow to a Kähler-Einstein metric follows from the integrability of the $L^2$ norm of the Ricci potential for positive time.
We construct a compact Kähler manifold of nonnegative quadratic bisectional curvature, which does not admit any Kähler metric of nonnegative orthogonal bisectional curvature. The manifold is a 7-dimensional Kähler C-space with second Betti number equal to 1, and its canonical metric is a Kähler-Einstein metric of positive scalar curvature
The various scalar curvatures on an almost Hermitian manifold are studied, in particular with respect to conformal variations. We show several integrability theorems, which state that two of these can only agree in the Kähler case. Our main question is the existence of almost Kähler metrics with conformally constant Chern scalar curvature. This problem is completely solved for ruled manifolds and in a complementary case where methods from the Chern-Yamabe problem are adapted to the non-integrable case. Also a moment map interpretation of the problem is given, leading to a Futaki invariant and …
We define the orthogonal Bakry-Émery tensor as a generalization of the orthogonal Ricci curvature, and then study diameter theorems on Kähler and quaternionic Kähler manifolds under positivity assumption on the orthogonal Bakry-Émery tensor. Moreover, under such assumptions on the orthogonal Bakry-Émery tensor and the holomorphic or quaternionic sectional curvature on a Kähler manifold or a quaternionic Kähler manifold respectively, the Bonnet-Myers type diameter bounds are sharper than in the Riemannian case.
We study the behaviour of the normalized Kähler-Ricci flow on complete Kähler manifolds of negative holomorphic sectional curvature. We show that the flow exists for all time and converges to a Kähler-Einstein metric of negative scalar curvature, recovering a result of Wu and Yau.
For certain compact complex Fano manifolds $M$ with reductive Lie algebras of holomorphic vector fields, we determine the analytic subvariety of the second cohomology group of $M$ consisting of Kähler classes whose Bando-Calabi-Futaki character vanishes. Then a Kähler class contains a Kähler metric of constant scalar curvature if and only if the Kähler class is contained in the analytic subvariety. On examination of the analytic subvariety, it is shown that $M$ admits infinitely many nonhomothetic Kähler classes containing Kähler metrics of constant scalar curvature but does not admit any Kähl…
We show that a closed almost Kähler 4-manifold of globally constant holomorphic sectional curvature $k\geq 0$ with respect to the canonical Hermitian connection is automatically Kähler. The same result holds for $k<0$ if we require in addition that the Ricci curvature is J-invariant. The proofs are based on the observation that such manifolds are self-dual, so that Chern-Weil theory implies useful integral formulas, which are then combined with results from Seiberg--Witten theory.
We show that the scalar curvature is uniformly bounded for the normalized Kahler-Ricci flow on a Kahler manifold with semi-ample canonical bundle. In particular, the normalized Kahler-Ricci flow has long time existence if and only if the scalar curvature is uniformly bounded, for Kahler surfaces, projective manifolds of complex dimension three, and for projective manifolds of all dimensions if assuming the abundance conjecture.
Based on Donaldson's method, we prove that, for an integral Kahler class, when there is a Kahler metric of constant scalar curvature, then it minimizes the K-energy. We do not assume that the automorphism group is discrete.
We find a necessary condition for the existence of an action of a Lie group $G$ by quaternionic automorphisms on an integrable quaternionic manifold in terms of representations of $\mathfrak{g}$. We check this condition and prove that a Riemannian symmetric space of dimension $4n$ for $n\geq 2$ has an invariant integrable almost quaternionic structure if and only if it is quaternionic vector space, quaternionic hyperbolic space or quaternionic projective space.
We prove that a Kahler manifold with positive bisectional curvature and maximal diameter is isometric to the complex projective space with the Fubini-Study metric.
In this paper, we mainly study the mean curvature flow in Kähler surfaces with positive holomorphic sectional curvatures. We prove that if the ratio of the maximum and the minimum of the holomorphic sectional curvatures is less than 2, then there exists a positive constant $δ$ depending on the ratio such that $\cosα\geqδ$ is preserved along the flow.
We obtain a partial parallelism of the complex structure on Kähler Finsler manifolds. As applications, we prove Synge-Tsukamoto theorem and Bonnet-Myers theorem for positively curved Kähler Finsler manifolds. Moreover, we generalize a comparison theorem due to Ni-Zheng by introducing the notion of orthogonal Ricci curvature to Kähler Finsler geometry.
We study the behavior of connections and curvature under the HK/QK correspondence, proving simple formulae expressing the Levi-Civita connection and Riemann curvature tensor on the quaternionic Kähler side in terms of the initial hyper-Kähler data. Our curvature formula refines a well-known decomposition theorem due to Alekseevsky. As an application, we compute the norm of the curvature tensor for a series of complete quaternionic Kähler manifolds arising from flat hyper-Kähler manifolds. We use this to deduce that these manifolds are of cohomogeneity one.
Motivated by the torus stability problem, in this work we study Kähler metrics with almost non-negative scalar curvature on complex torus. We prove that after passing to a subsequence, non-collapsing sequence of Kähler metrics with almost non-negative scalar curvature will converge to flat torus weakly.
We show that the Kähler-Ricci flow on a manifold with positive first Chern class converges to a Kähler-Einstein metric assuming positive bisectional curvature and certain stability conditions.
We produce complete bounded curvature solutions to Kähler-Ricci flow with existence time estimates, assuming only that the initial data is a smooth \K metric uniformly equivalent to another complete bounded curvature \K metric. We obtain related flow results for non-smooth as well as degenerate initial conditions. We also obtain a stability result for complex space forms under the flow.
If a normalized Kähler-Ricci flow $g(t),t\in[0,\infty),$ on a compact Kähler $n$-manifold, $n\geq 3$, of positive first Chern class satisfies $g(t)\in 2πc_{1}(M)$ and has $L^{n}$ curvature operator uniformly bounded, then the curvature operator will also uniformly bounded along the flow. Consequently the flow will converge along a subsequence to a Kähler-Ricci soliton.
B. Y. Chen establish the relationship between the Ricci curvature and the squared mean curvature for submanifolds of Riemannian space form with arbitrary codimension. In this paper, we generalize the relationship between the Ricci curvature and the squared norm of mean curvature vector for submanifolds of Bochner Kahler manifolds.
It is proved that if an AK2-manifold of dimension greater or equal to 6 is of pointwise constant antiholomorphic sectional curvature, then it is a 6-dimensional manifold of constant negative sectional curvature or a Kähler manifold of constant holomorphic sectional curvature.
In this paper we prove the existence and uniqueness of the form-type Calabi-Yau equation on Kähler manifolds of nonnegative orthogonal bisectional curvature.
Starting with a model conical Kähler metric, we prove a uniform scalar curvature bound for solutions to the conical Kähler-Ricci flow assuming a semi-ampleness type condition on the twisted canonical bundle. In the proof, we also establish uniform estimates for the potentials and their time derivatives.
In this paper, we study any Kähler manifold where the positive orthogonal bisectional curvature is preserved on the Kähler Ricci flow. Naturally, we always assume that the first Chern class $C_1$ is positive. In particular, we prove that any irreducible Kähler manifold with such property must be biholomorphic to $\mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^n. $ This can be viewed as a generalization of Siu-Yau\cite{Siuy80}, Morri's solution \cite{Mori79} of the Frankel conjecture. According to [8], note that any Kähler manifold with 2-positive traceless bisectional curvature operator is preserved under Kahler Ricci …
We study the question of integrability of a compatible almost complex structure on a compact symplectic 4-manifold, under various natural assumptions on the curvature of the associated almost Kahler metric.
In this paper, we consider Kahler-Ricci flow on n-dimensional Kahler manifold with semi-ample canonical line bundle and 0< m:= Kod(X)<n. Such manifolds admit a Calabi-Yau fibration over its canonical model. We prove that the scalar curvature of the Kahler metric along the normalized Kahler-Ricci flow converge to -m outside the singular set of this fibration.
In this paper we obtain three results concerning the geometry of complete noncompact positively curved Kähler manifolds at infinity. The first one states that the order of volume growth of a complete noncompact Kähler manifold with positive bisectional curvature is at least half of the real dimension (i.e., the complex dimension). The second one states that the curvature of a complete noncompact Kähler manifold with positive bisectional curvature decays at least linearly in the average sense. The third result is concerned with the relation between the volume growth and the curvature decay. We …
On Kahler manifolds with Ricci curvature bounded from below, we establish some theorems which are counterparts of some classical theorems in Riemannian geometry, for example, Bishop-Gromov's relative volume comparison, Bonnet-Meyers theorem, and Yau's gradient estimate for positive harmonic functions. The tool is a Bochner type formula reflecting the Kahler structure.
A compactness theorem is proved for a family of Kähler surfaces with constant scalar curvature and volume bounded from below, diameter bounded from above, Ricci curvature bounded and the signature bounded from below. Furthermore, a splitting theorem and some rigidity theorems are proved for Einstein-Maxwell systems.
In this work, we obtain a existence criteria for the longtime Kähler Ricci flow solution. Using the existence result, we generalize a result by Wu-Yau on the existence of Kähler Einstein metric to the case with possibly unbounded curvature. Moreover, the Kähler Einstein metric with negative scalar curvture must be unique up to scaling.
For all complex dimensions n>=2, we construct complete Kaehler manifolds of bounded curvature and non-negative Ricci curvature whose Kaehler--Ricci evolutions immediately acquire Ricci curvature of mixed sign.
In this short paper, we show that Kähler-Ricci flows over closed manifolds would have scalar curvature blown-up for finite time singularity. Certain control of the blowing-up is achieved with some mild assumption.
We study the conditions under which a Kählerian structure $(G,J)$ of general natural lift type on the cotangent bundle $T^*M$ of a Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$ has constant holomorphic sectional curvature. We obtain that a certain parameter involved in the condition for $(T^*M,G,J)$ to be a Kählerian manifold, is expressed as a rational function of the other two, their derivatives, the constant sectional curvature of the base manifold $(M,g)$, and the constant holomorphic sectional curvature of the general natural Kählerian structure $(G,J)$.
Let $(M,\overline{g})$ be a Kähler surface, and $Σ$ an immersed surface in $M$. The Kähler angle of $Σ$ in $M$ is introduced by Chern-Wolfson \cite{CW}. Let $(M,\overline{g}(t))$ evolve along the Kähler-Ricci flow, and $Σ_t$ in $(M,\overline{g}(t))$ evolve along the mean curvature flow. We show that the Kähler angle $α(t)$ satisfies the evolution equation: $$ (\frac{\partial}{\partial t}-Δ)\cosα=|\overline\nabla J_{Σ_t}|^2\cosα+R\sin^2α\cosα, $$ where $R$ is the scalar curvature of $(M, \overline{g}(t))$. The equation implies that, if the initial surface is symplectic (Lagrangian), then along …
It is proved that if an almost Kähler manifold of dimension greater or equal to 8 is of pointwise constant antiholomorphic sectional curvature, then it is a complex space form.
In this work we consider compact Kähler manifolds with non-positive mixed curvature which is a "convex combination" of Ricci curvature and holomorphic sectional curvature. We show that in this case, the canonical line bundle is nef. Moreover, if the curvature is negative at some point, then the manifold is projective with canonical line bundle being big and nef. If in addition the curvature is negative, then the canonical line bundle is ample. As an application, we answer a question of Ni concerning manifolds with negative $k$-Ricci curvature and generalize a result of Wu-Yau and Diverio-Trapa…
In this paper we prove classification results for gradient shrinking Ricci solitons under two invariant conditions, namely nonnegative orthogonal bisectional curvature and weakly PIC1, without any curvature bound. New results on ancient solutions for the Ricci and Kähler-Ricci flow are also obtained. The main new feature is that no curvature upper bound is assumed.
