An equivalence between Lu's bialgebroids, Xu's bialgebroids with an anchor and Takeuchi's $\times_{A}$-bialgebras is explicitly proven. A new class of examples of bialgebroids is constructed. A (formal) dual of a bialgebroid, termed bicoalgebroid, is defined. A weak Hopf algebra is shown to be an example of such a bicoalgebroid.
Bialgebroids (resp. Hopf algebroids) are bialgebras (Hopf algebras) over noncommutative rings. Drinfeld twist techniques are particularly useful in the (deformation) quantization of Lie algebras as well as underlying module algebras (=quantum spaces). Smash product construction combines these two into the new algebra which, in fact, does not depend on the twist. However, we can turn it into bialgebroid in the twist dependent way. Alternatively, one can use Drinfeld twist techniques in a category of bialgebroids. We show that both techniques indicated in the title: twisting of a bialgebroid or …
Universal solutions to deformation quantization problems can be conveniently classified by the cohomology of suitable graph complexes. In particular, the deformation quantizations of (finite-dimensional) Poisson manifolds and Lie bialgebras are characterised by an action of the Grothendieck-Teichmüller group via one-colored directed and oriented graphs, respectively. In this note, we study the action of multi-oriented graph complexes on Lie bialgebroids and their "quasi" generalisations. Using results due to T. Willwacher and M. Zivković on the cohomology of (multi)-oriented graphs, we show th…
We explore special features of the pair (U^*, U_*) formed by the right and left dual over a (left) bialgebroid U in case the bialgebroid is, in particular, a left Hopf algebroid. It turns out that there exists a bialgebroid morphism S^* from one dual to another that extends the construction of the antipode on the dual of a Hopf algebra, and which is an isomorphism if U is both a left and right Hopf algebroid. This structure is derived from Phung's categorical equivalence between left and right comodules over U without the need of a (Hopf algebroid) antipode, a result which we review and extend…
The paper presents a detailed description of duality for braided algebras, coalgebras, bialgebras, Hopf algebras and their modules and comodules in the infinite setting. Assuming that the dual objects exist, it is shown how a given braiding induces compatible braidings for the dual objects, and how actions (resp. coactions) can be turned into coactions (resp. actions) of the dual coalgebra (resp. algebra), with an emphasis on braided bialgebras and their braided (co)module algebras.
We prove that the action of the Grothendieck-Teichmüller group on the genus completed properad of (homotopy) Lie bialgebras commutes with the reversing directions involution of the latter. We also prove that every universal quantization of Lie bialgebras is homotopy equivalent to the one which commutes with the duality involution exchanging Lie bracket and Lie cobracket. The proofs are based on a new result in the theory of oriented graph complexes (which can be of independent interest) saying that the involution on an oriented graph complex that changes all directions on edges induces the ide…
The "quantum duality principle" states that the quantization of a Lie bialgebra - via a quantum universal enveloping algebra (QUEA) - provides also a quantization of the dual Lie bialgebra (through its associated formal Poisson group) - via a quantum formal series Hopf algebra (QFSHA) - and, conversely, a QFSHA associated to a Lie bialgebra (via its associated formal Poisson group) yields a QUEA for the dual Lie bialgebra as well; more precisely, there exist functors QUEA --> QFSHA and QFSHA --> QUEA, inverse of each other, such that in either case the Lie bialgebra associated to the target ob…
