We develop a theory of quasi-Lie bialgebroids using a homological approach. This notion is a generalization of quasi-Lie bialgebras, as well as twisted Poisson structures with a 3-form background which have recently appeared in the context of string theory, and were studied by Ševera and Weinstein using a different method.
Bialgebroids (resp. Hopf algebroids) are bialgebras (Hopf algebras) over noncommutative rings. Drinfeld twist techniques are particularly useful in the (deformation) quantization of Lie algebras as well as underlying module algebras (=quantum spaces). Smash product construction combines these two into the new algebra which, in fact, does not depend on the twist. However, we can turn it into bialgebroid in the twist dependent way. Alternatively, one can use Drinfeld twist techniques in a category of bialgebroids. We show that both techniques indicated in the title: twisting of a bialgebroid or …
We construct an invertible normalised 2 cocycle on the Ehresmann Schauenburg bialgebroid of a cleft Hopf Galois extension under the condition that the corresponding Hopf algebra is cocommutative and the image of the unital cocycle corresponding to this cleft Hopf Galois extension belongs to the centre of the coinvariant subalgebra. Moreover, we show that any Ehresmann Schauenburg bialgebroid of this kind is isomorphic to a 2-cocycle twist of the Ehresmann Schauenburg bialgebroid corresponding to a Hopf Galois extension without cocycle, where comodule algebra is an ordinary smash product of the…
In this article, we extend our preceding studies on higher algebraic structures of (co)homology theories defined by a left bialgebroid (U,A). For a braided commutative Yetter-Drinfel'd algebra N, explicit expressions for the canonical Gerstenhaber algebra structure on Ext_U(A,N) are given. Similarly, if (U,A) is a left Hopf algebroid where A is an anti Yetter-Drinfel'd module over U, it is shown that the cochain complex computing Cotor_U(A,N) defines a cyclic operad with multiplication and hence the groups Cotor_U(A,N) form a Batalin-Vilkovisky algebra. In the second part of this article, Pois…
Universal solutions to deformation quantization problems can be conveniently classified by the cohomology of suitable graph complexes. In particular, the deformation quantizations of (finite-dimensional) Poisson manifolds and Lie bialgebras are characterised by an action of the Grothendieck-Teichmüller group via one-colored directed and oriented graphs, respectively. In this note, we study the action of multi-oriented graph complexes on Lie bialgebroids and their "quasi" generalisations. Using results due to T. Willwacher and M. Zivković on the cohomology of (multi)-oriented graphs, we show th…
In our earlier article [Lett. Math. Phys. 107 (2017), 475-503, arXiv:1409.8188], we explicitly described a topological Hopf algebroid playing the role of the noncommutative phase space of Lie algebra type. Ping Xu has shown that every deformation quantization leads to a Drinfeld twist of the associative bialgebroid of h-adic series of differential operators on a fixed Poisson manifold. In the case of linear Poisson structures, the twisted bialgebroid essentially coincides with our construction. Using our explicit description of the Hopf algebroid, we compute the corresponding Drinfeld twist ex…
We show how to extend the construction of Tulczyjew triples to Lie algebroids via graded manifolds. We also provide a generalisation of triangular Lie bialgebroids as higher Poisson and Schouten structures on Lie algebroids.
We define \textit{graded manifolds} as a version of supermanifolds endowed with an additional $\mathbb Z$-grading in the structure sheaf, called \textit{weight} (not linked with parity). Examples are ordinary supermanifolds, vector bundles over supermanifolds, double vector bundles, iterated constructions like $TTM$, etc. I give a construction of \textit{doubles} for \textit{graded} $QS$- and \textit{graded $QP$-manifolds} (graded manifolds endowed with a homological vector field and a Schouten/Poisson bracket). Relation is explained with Drinfeld's Lie bialgebras and their doubles. Graded $QS…
Poisson manifolds may be regarded as the infinitesimal form of symplectic groupoids. Twisted Poisson manifolds considered by Severa and Weinstein [math.SG/0107133] are a natural generalization of the former which also arises in string theory. In this note it is proved that twisted Poisson manifolds are in bijection with a (possibly singular) twisted version of symplectic groupoids.
The purpose of this Note is to unify quantum groups and star-products under a general umbrella: quantum groupoids. It is shown that a quantum groupoid naturally gives rise to a Lie bialgebroid as a classical limit. The converse question, i.e., the quantization problem, is posed. In particular, any regular triangular Lie bialgebroid is shown quantizable. For the Lie bialgebroid of a Poisson manifold, its quantization is equivalent to a star-product.
We describe a deformation quantization of a modification of Poisson geometry by a closed 3-form. Under suitable conditions it gives rise to a stack of algebras. The basic object used for this aim is a kind of families of Poisson structures given by a Maurer-Cartan equation; they are easily quantized using Kontsevich's Formality theorem.
We will introduce an associative (or quantum) version of Poisson structure tensors. This object is defined as an operator satisfying a "generalized" Rota-Baxter identity of weight zero. Such operators are called generalized Rota-Baxter operators. We will show that generalized Rota-Baxter operators are characterized by a cocycle condition so that Poisson structures are so. By analogy with twisted Poisson structures, we propose a new operator "twisted Rota-Baxter operators" which is a natural generalization of generalized Rota-Baxter operators. It is known that classical Rota-Baxter operators ar…
Over many decades, the word "double" has appeared in various contexts, at times seemingly unrelated. Several have some relation to mathematical physics. Recently, this has become particularly strking in DFT (double field theory). Two 'doubles' that are particularly relevant are double vector bundles and Drinfel'd doubles. The original Drinfel'd double occurred in the contexts of quantum groups and of Lie bialgebras. Quoting T. Voronov: "Double Lie algebroids arose in the works on double Lie groupoids and in connection with an analog for Lie bialgebroids of the classical Drinfel'd double of Lie…
We construct an action of the braid group B_N on the twisted quantized enveloping algebra U'_q(o_N) where the elements of B_N act as automorphisms. In the classical limit q -> 1 we recover the action of B_N on the polynomial functions on the space of upper triangular matrices with ones on the diagonal. The action preserves the Poisson bracket on the space of polynomials which was introduced by Nelson and Regge in their study of quantum gravity and re-discovered in the mathematical literature. Furthermore, we construct a Poisson bracket on the space of polynomials associated with another twiste…
Crawley-Boevey introduced the definition of a noncommutative Poisson structure on an associative algebra A that extends the notion of the usual Poisson bracket. Let V be a symplectic manifold and G be a finite group of symplectimorphisms of V. Consider the twisted group algebra A=C[V]#G. We produce a counterexample to prove that it is not always possible to define a noncommutative poisson structure on C[V]#G that extends the Poisson bracket on C[V]^G.
We exhibit a Poisson module restoring a twisted Poincare duality between Poisson homology and cohomology for the polynomial algebra R=C[X_1,...,X_n] endowed with Poisson bracket arising from a uniparametrised quantum affine space. This Poisson module is obtained as the semiclassical limit of the dualising bimodule for Hochschild homology of the corresponding quantum affine space. As a corollary we compute the Poisson cohomology of R, and so retrieve a result obtained by direct methods (so completely different from ours) by Monnier.
It has been shown recently that extended supersymmetry in twisted first-order sigma models is related to twisted generalized complex geometry in the target. In the general case there are additional algebraic and differential conditions relating the twisted generalized complex structure and the geometrical data defining the model. We study in the Hamiltonian formalism the case of vanishing metric, which is the supersymmetric version of the WZ-Poisson sigma model. We prove that the compatibility conditions reduce to an algebraic equation, which represents a considerable simplification with respe…
Whenever a given Poisson manifold is equipped with discrete symmetries the corresponding algebra of invariant functions or the algebra of functions twisted by the symmetry group can have new deformations, which are not captured by Kontsevich Formality. We consider the simplest example of this situation: $\mathbb{R}^2$ with the reflection symmetry $\mathbb{Z}_2$. The usual quantization leads to the Weyl algebra. While Weyl algebra is rigid, the algebra of even or twisted by $\mathbb{Z}_2$ functions has one more deformation, which was identified by Wigner and is related to Feigin's $gl_λ$ and to…
Let X be a smooth algebraic variety over a field of characteristic 0. We introduce the notion of twisted associative (resp. Poisson) deformation of the structure sheaf O_X. These are stack-like versions of usual deformations. We prove that there is a twisted quantization map from twisted Poisson deformations to twisted associative deformations, which is canonical and bijective on equivalence classes.
Let X be a smooth algebraic variety over a field K containing the real numbers. We introduce the notion of twisted associative (resp. Poisson) deformation of the structure sheaf of X. These are stack-like versions of usual deformations. We prove that there is a twisted quantization operation from twisted Poisson deformations to twisted associative deformations, which is canonical and bijective on gauge equivalence classes. This result extends work of Kontsevich, and our own earlier work, on deformation quantization of algebraic varieties.
The topics covered in this thesis may be divided into three parts. Firstly, we perform a study on the most general branes which are consistent with the Poisson sigma model, both at the classical and quantum levels. The second part is devoted to the particular case in which the target Poisson manifold is a Poisson-Lie group. Finally, we investigate the supersymmetric version of the twisted Poisson sigma model and its connection with twisted generalized complex geometry.
We provide an explicit description of symplectic leaves of a simply connected connected semisimple complex Lie group equipped with the standard Poisson-Lie structure. This sharpens previously known descriptions of the symplectic leaves as connected components of certain varieties. Our main tool is the machinery of twisted generalized minors. They also allow us to present several quasi-commuting coordinate systems on every symplectic leaf. As a consequence, we construct new completely integrable systems on some special symplectic leaves.
We connect generalizations of Poisson algebras with the classical and associative Yang-Baxter equations. In particular, we prove that solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation on a vector space V are equivalent to ``twisted'' Poisson algebra structures on the tensor algebra TV. Here, ``twisted'' refers to working in the category of graded vector spaces equipped with S_n-actions in degree n. We show that the associative Yang-Baxter equation is similarly related to the double Poisson algebras of Van den Bergh. We generalize to L-infinity-algebras and define ``infinity'' versions of Yang-Ba…
We give the construction of twisted quantum Lax equations associated with quantum groups. We solve these equations using factorization properties of the corresponding quantum groups. Our construction generalizes in many respects the Adler-Kostant-Symes construction for Lie groups and the construction of M. A. Semenov Tian-Shansky for the Lie-Poisson case.
We show that having any planar (cyclic or acyclic) directed network on a disc with the only condition that all $n_1+m$ sources are separated from all $n_2+m$ sinks, we can construct a cluster-algebra realization of elements of an affine Lie--Poisson algebra $R(λ,μ)T^{1}(λ)T^{2}(μ)=T^{2}(μ)T^{1}(λ)R(λ,μ)$ with $(n_1\times n_2)$-matrices $T(λ)$ corresponding to a planar directed network on an annulus. Upon satisfaction of some invertibility conditions, we can extend this construction to realizations of a quantum loop algebra. Having the quantum loop algebra we can also construct a realization of…
We construct a class of new Lie algebras by generalizing the one-variable Lie algebras generated by the quadratic conformal algebras (or corresponding Hamiltonian operators) associated to Poisson algebras and a quasi-derivation found by Xu. These algebras can be viewed as certain twists of Xu's generalized Hamiltonian Lie algebras. The simplicity of these algebras is completely determined. Moreover, we construct a family of multiplicity-free representations of these Lie algebras and prove their irreducibility.
In this paper we study the Poisson-Lie version of the Drinfeld-Sokolov reduction defined in q-alg/9704011, q-alg/9702016. Using the bialgebra structure related to the new Drinfeld realization of affine quantum groups we describe reduction in terms of constraints. This realization of reduction admits direct quantization. As a byproduct we obtain an explicit expression for the symplectic form associated to the twisted Heisenberg double and calculate the moment map for the twisted dressing action. For some class of infinite-dimensional Poisson Lie groups we also prove an analogue of the Ginzburg-…
As a generalization of the linear Poisson bracket on the dual space of a Lie algebra, we introduce certain non-linear Poisson brackets which are ``cocycle perturbations'' of the linear Poisson bracket. We show that these special Poisson brackets are equivalent to Poisson brackets of central extension type, which resemble the central extensions of an ordinary Lie bracket via Lie algebra cocycles. We are able to formulate (strict) deformation quantizations of these Poisson brackets by means of twisted group C*-algebras. We also indicate that these deformation quantizations can be used to constru…
The Heisenberg double of a Hopf algebra may be regarded as a quantum analogue of the cotangent bundle of a Lie group. Quantum duality principle describes relations between a Hopf algebra, its dual, and their Heisenberg double in a way which extends both the theory of coadjoint orbits and the classical Fourier transform. We also describe the twisted Heisenberg double which is relevant for the study of nontrivial deformations of the quantized universal enveloping algebras.
The dual Lie bialgebra of a certain ``quasitriangular'' Lie bialgebra structure on the Heisenberg Lie algebra determines a (non-compact) Poisson--Lie group G. The compatible Poisson bracket on G is non-linear, but it can still be realized as a ``cocycle perturbation'' of the linear Poisson bracket. We construct a certain twisted group C*-algebra A, which is shown to be a strict deformation quantization of G. Motivated by the data at the Poisson (classical) level, we then construct on A its locally compact quantum group structures: comultiplication, counit, antipode and Haar weight, as well as …
