Crawley-Boevey introduced the definition of a noncommutative Poisson structure on an associative algebra A that extends the notion of the usual Poisson bracket. Let V be a symplectic manifold and G be a finite group of symplectimorphisms of V. Consider the twisted group algebra A=C[V]#G.
We produce a counterexample to prove that it is not always possible to define a noncommutative poisson structure on C[V]#G that extends the Poisson bracket on C[V]^G.
We describe a deformation quantization of a modification of Poisson geometry by a closed 3-form. Under suitable conditions it gives rise to a stack of algebras. The basic object used for this aim is a kind of families of Poisson structures given by a Maurer-Cartan equation; they are easily quantized using Kontsevich's Formality theorem.
Let a Poisson structure on a manifold M be given. If it vanishes at a point m, the evaluation at m defines a one dimensional representation of the Poisson algebra of functions on M. We show that this representation can, in general, not be quantized. Precisely, we give a counterexample for M=R^n, such that: (i) The evaluation map at 0 can not be quantized to a representation of the algebra of functions with product the Kontsevich product associated to the Poisson structure. (ii) For any formal Poisson structure extending the given one and vanishing at zero up to second order in epsilon, (i) sti…
We will introduce an associative (or quantum) version of Poisson structure tensors. This object is defined as an operator satisfying a "generalized" Rota-Baxter identity of weight zero. Such operators are called generalized Rota-Baxter operators. We will show that generalized Rota-Baxter operators are characterized by a cocycle condition so that Poisson structures are so. By analogy with twisted Poisson structures, we propose a new operator "twisted Rota-Baxter operators" which is a natural generalization of generalized Rota-Baxter operators. It is known that classical Rota-Baxter operators ar…
Poisson manifolds may be regarded as the infinitesimal form of symplectic groupoids. Twisted Poisson manifolds considered by Severa and Weinstein [math.SG/0107133] are a natural generalization of the former which also arises in string theory. In this note it is proved that twisted Poisson manifolds are in bijection with a (possibly singular) twisted version of symplectic groupoids.
We exhibit a Poisson module restoring a twisted Poincare duality between Poisson homology and cohomology for the polynomial algebra R=C[X_1,...,X_n] endowed with Poisson bracket arising from a uniparametrised quantum affine space. This Poisson module is obtained as the semiclassical limit of the dualising bimodule for Hochschild homology of the corresponding quantum affine space. As a corollary we compute the Poisson cohomology of R, and so retrieve a result obtained by direct methods (so completely different from ours) by Monnier.
It has been shown recently that extended supersymmetry in twisted first-order sigma models is related to twisted generalized complex geometry in the target. In the general case there are additional algebraic and differential conditions relating the twisted generalized complex structure and the geometrical data defining the model. We study in the Hamiltonian formalism the case of vanishing metric, which is the supersymmetric version of the WZ-Poisson sigma model. We prove that the compatibility conditions reduce to an algebraic equation, which represents a considerable simplification with respe…
We construct an action of the braid group B_N on the twisted quantized enveloping algebra U'_q(o_N) where the elements of B_N act as automorphisms. In the classical limit q -> 1 we recover the action of B_N on the polynomial functions on the space of upper triangular matrices with ones on the diagonal. The action preserves the Poisson bracket on the space of polynomials which was introduced by Nelson and Regge in their study of quantum gravity and re-discovered in the mathematical literature. Furthermore, we construct a Poisson bracket on the space of polynomials associated with another twiste…
We develop a theory of quasi-Lie bialgebroids using a homological approach. This notion is a generalization of quasi-Lie bialgebras, as well as twisted Poisson structures with a 3-form background which have recently appeared in the context of string theory, and were studied by Ševera and Weinstein using a different method.
Let X be a smooth algebraic variety over a field of characteristic 0. We introduce the notion of twisted associative (resp. Poisson) deformation of the structure sheaf O_X. These are stack-like versions of usual deformations. We prove that there is a twisted quantization map from twisted Poisson deformations to twisted associative deformations, which is canonical and bijective on equivalence classes.
Let X be a smooth algebraic variety over a field K containing the real numbers. We introduce the notion of twisted associative (resp. Poisson) deformation of the structure sheaf of X. These are stack-like versions of usual deformations. We prove that there is a twisted quantization operation from twisted Poisson deformations to twisted associative deformations, which is canonical and bijective on gauge equivalence classes. This result extends work of Kontsevich, and our own earlier work, on deformation quantization of algebraic varieties.
The topics covered in this thesis may be divided into three parts. Firstly, we perform a study on the most general branes which are consistent with the Poisson sigma model, both at the classical and quantum levels. The second part is devoted to the particular case in which the target Poisson manifold is a Poisson-Lie group. Finally, we investigate the supersymmetric version of the twisted Poisson sigma model and its connection with twisted generalized complex geometry.
Brown and Gordon asked whether the Poisson Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence holds for any complex affine Poisson algebra; that is, whether the sets of Poisson rational ideals, Poisson primitive ideals, and Poisson locally closed ideals coincide. In this article a complete answer is given to this question using techniques from differential-algebraic geometry and model theory. In particular, it is shown that while the sets of Poisson rational and Poisson primitive ideals do coincide, in every Krull dimension at least four there are complex affine Poisson algebras with Poisson rational ideals that are…
In this paper we study the Poisson-Lie version of the Drinfeld-Sokolov reduction defined in q-alg/9704011, q-alg/9702016. Using the bialgebra structure related to the new Drinfeld realization of affine quantum groups we describe reduction in terms of constraints. This realization of reduction admits direct quantization. As a byproduct we obtain an explicit expression for the symplectic form associated to the twisted Heisenberg double and calculate the moment map for the twisted dressing action. For some class of infinite-dimensional Poisson Lie groups we also prove an analogue of the Ginzburg-…
We connect generalizations of Poisson algebras with the classical and associative Yang-Baxter equations. In particular, we prove that solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation on a vector space V are equivalent to ``twisted'' Poisson algebra structures on the tensor algebra TV. Here, ``twisted'' refers to working in the category of graded vector spaces equipped with S_n-actions in degree n. We show that the associative Yang-Baxter equation is similarly related to the double Poisson algebras of Van den Bergh. We generalize to L-infinity-algebras and define ``infinity'' versions of Yang-Ba…
We classify Lagrangian subcategories of the representation category of a twisted quantum double of a finite group. In view of results of 0704.0195v2 this gives a complete description of all braided tensor equivalent pairs of twisted quantum doubles of finite groups. We also establish a canonical bijection between Lagrangian subcategories of the representation category of a twisted quantum double of a finite group G and module categories over the category of twisted G-graded vector spaces such that the dual tensor category is pointed. This can be viewed as a quantum version of V. Drinfeld's cha…
Whenever a given Poisson manifold is equipped with discrete symmetries the corresponding algebra of invariant functions or the algebra of functions twisted by the symmetry group can have new deformations, which are not captured by Kontsevich Formality. We consider the simplest example of this situation: $\mathbb{R}^2$ with the reflection symmetry $\mathbb{Z}_2$. The usual quantization leads to the Weyl algebra. While Weyl algebra is rigid, the algebra of even or twisted by $\mathbb{Z}_2$ functions has one more deformation, which was identified by Wigner and is related to Feigin's $gl_λ$ and to…
We construct a class of new Lie algebras by generalizing the one-variable Lie algebras generated by the quadratic conformal algebras (or corresponding Hamiltonian operators) associated to Poisson algebras and a quasi-derivation found by Xu. These algebras can be viewed as certain twists of Xu's generalized Hamiltonian Lie algebras. The simplicity of these algebras is completely determined. Moreover, we construct a family of multiplicity-free representations of these Lie algebras and prove their irreducibility.
We prove that we have an isomorphism of type $A_{aut}(\mathbb C_σ[G])\simeq A_{aut}(\mathbb C[G])^σ$, for any finite group $G$, and any 2-cocycle $σ$ on $G$. In the particular case $G=\mathbb Z_n^2$, this leads to a Haar-measure preserving identification between the subalgebra of $A_o(n)$ generated by the variables $u_{ij}^2$, and the subalgebra of $A_s(n^2)$ generated by the variables $X_{ij}=\sum_{a,b=1}^np_{ia,jb}$. Since $u_{ij}$ is "free hyperspherical" and $X_{ij}$ is "free hypergeometric", we obtain in this way a new free probability formula, which at $n=\infty$ corresponds to the well-…
We give the construction of twisted quantum Lax equations associated with quantum groups. We solve these equations using factorization properties of the corresponding quantum groups. Our construction generalizes in many respects the Adler-Kostant-Symes construction for Lie groups and the construction of M. A. Semenov Tian-Shansky for the Lie-Poisson case.
We provide an explicit description of symplectic leaves of a simply connected connected semisimple complex Lie group equipped with the standard Poisson-Lie structure. This sharpens previously known descriptions of the symplectic leaves as connected components of certain varieties. Our main tool is the machinery of twisted generalized minors. They also allow us to present several quasi-commuting coordinate systems on every symplectic leaf. As a consequence, we construct new completely integrable systems on some special symplectic leaves.
As a generalization of the linear Poisson bracket on the dual space of a Lie algebra, we introduce certain non-linear Poisson brackets which are ``cocycle perturbations'' of the linear Poisson bracket. We show that these special Poisson brackets are equivalent to Poisson brackets of central extension type, which resemble the central extensions of an ordinary Lie bracket via Lie algebra cocycles. We are able to formulate (strict) deformation quantizations of these Poisson brackets by means of twisted group C*-algebras. We also indicate that these deformation quantizations can be used to constru…
The Heisenberg double of a Hopf algebra may be regarded as a quantum analogue of the cotangent bundle of a Lie group. Quantum duality principle describes relations between a Hopf algebra, its dual, and their Heisenberg double in a way which extends both the theory of coadjoint orbits and the classical Fourier transform. We also describe the twisted Heisenberg double which is relevant for the study of nontrivial deformations of the quantized universal enveloping algebras.
In our earlier article [Lett. Math. Phys. 107 (2017), 475-503, arXiv:1409.8188], we explicitly described a topological Hopf algebroid playing the role of the noncommutative phase space of Lie algebra type. Ping Xu has shown that every deformation quantization leads to a Drinfeld twist of the associative bialgebroid of h-adic series of differential operators on a fixed Poisson manifold. In the case of linear Poisson structures, the twisted bialgebroid essentially coincides with our construction. Using our explicit description of the Hopf algebroid, we compute the corresponding Drinfeld twist ex…
We describe three perspectives on higher quantization, using the example of magnetic Poisson structures which embody recent discussions of nonassociativity in quantum mechanics with magnetic monopoles and string theory with non-geometric fluxes. We survey approaches based on deformation quantization of twisted Poisson structures, symplectic realization of almost symplectic structures, and geometric quantization using 2-Hilbert spaces of sections of suitable bundle gerbes. We compare and contrast these perspectives, describing their advantages and shortcomings in each case, and mention many ope…
The main feature of color Hom-algebras is that the identities defining the structures are twisted by even linear maps. The purpose of this paper is to introduce and give some constructions of admissible Hom-Novikov-Poisson color Hom-algebras and Hom-Gelfand-Dorfman color Hom-algebras. Their bimodules and matched pairs are defined and the relevant properties and theorems are given. Also, the connections between Hom-Novikov-Poisson color Hom-algebras and Hom-Gelfand-Dorfman color Hom-algebras is proved. Furthermore, we show that the class of admissible Hom-Novikov-Poisson color Hom-algebras is c…
We consider the problem of deforming simultaneously a pair of given structures. We show that such deformations are governed by an L-infinity algebra, which we construct explicitly. Our machinery is based on Th. Voronov's derived bracket construction. In this paper we consider only geometric applications, including deformations of coisotropic submanifolds in Poisson manifolds, of twisted Poisson structures, and of complex structures within generalized complex geometry. These applications can not be, to our knowledge, obtained by other methods such as operad theory.
A new family of non-degenerate involutive set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation is constructed. All these solutions are strong twisted unions of multipermutation solutions of multipermutation level at most two. A large subfamily consists of irretractable and square-free solutions. This subfamily includes a recent example of Vendramin, who first gave a counterexample to Gateva-Ivanova's Strong Conjecture. All the solutions in this subfamily are new counterexamples to Gateva-Ivanova's Strong Conjecture and also they answer a question of Cameron and Gateva-Ivanova. It is proved that…
The dual Lie bialgebra of a certain ``quasitriangular'' Lie bialgebra structure on the Heisenberg Lie algebra determines a (non-compact) Poisson--Lie group G. The compatible Poisson bracket on G is non-linear, but it can still be realized as a ``cocycle perturbation'' of the linear Poisson bracket. We construct a certain twisted group C*-algebra A, which is shown to be a strict deformation quantization of G. Motivated by the data at the Poisson (classical) level, we then construct on A its locally compact quantum group structures: comultiplication, counit, antipode and Haar weight, as well as …
We show that having any planar (cyclic or acyclic) directed network on a disc with the only condition that all $n_1+m$ sources are separated from all $n_2+m$ sinks, we can construct a cluster-algebra realization of elements of an affine Lie--Poisson algebra $R(λ,μ)T^{1}(λ)T^{2}(μ)=T^{2}(μ)T^{1}(λ)R(λ,μ)$ with $(n_1\times n_2)$-matrices $T(λ)$ corresponding to a planar directed network on an annulus. Upon satisfaction of some invertibility conditions, we can extend this construction to realizations of a quantum loop algebra. Having the quantum loop algebra we can also construct a realization of…
We define noncommutative gerbes using the language of star products. Quantized twisted Poisson structures are discussed as an explicit realization in the sense of deformation quantization. Our motivation is the noncommutative description of D-branes in the presence of topologically non-trivial background fields.
