The universal $2$-parameter vertex algebra $W_{\infty}$ of type $W(2,3,4,\dots)$ serves as a classifying object for vertex algebras of type $W(2,3,\dots,N)$ for some $N$ in the sense that under mild hypothesis, all such vertex algebras arise as quotients of $W_{\infty}$. There is an $\mathbb{N} \times \mathbb{N}$ family of such $1$-parameter vertex algebras which, after tensoring with a Heisenberg algebra, are known as $Y$-algebras. They were introduced by Gaiotto and Rapčák and are expected to be the building blocks for all $W$-algebras in type $A$, i.e., every $W$-(super) algebra in type $A$ is an extension of a tensor product of finitely many $Y$-algebras. Similarly, the orthosymplectic $Y$-algebras are $1$-parameter quotients of a universal $2$-parameter vertex algebra $W^{\text{ev}}_{\infty}$ of type $W(2,4,6,\dots)$, which is a classifying object for vertex algebras of type $W(2,4,\dots, 2N)$ for some $N$. Unlike type $A$, these algebras are not all the building blocks for $W$-algebras of types $B$, $C$, and $D$. In this paper, we construct a new universal $2$-parameter vertex algebra of type $W(1^3, 2, 3^3, 4, 5^3,6,\dots)$ which we denote by $W^{\mathfrak{sp}}_{\infty}$ since it contains a copy of the affine vertex algebra $V^k(\mathfrak{sp}_2)$. We identify $8$ infinite families of $1$-parameter quotients of $W^{\mathfrak{sp}}_{\infty}$ which are analogues of the $Y$-algebras. We regard $W^{\mathfrak{sp}}_{\infty}$ as a fundamental object on equal footing with $W_{\infty}$ and $W^{\text{ev}}_{\infty}$, and we give some heuristic reasons for why we expect the $1$-parameter quotients of these three objects to be the building blocks for all $W$-algebras of classical types. Finally, we prove that $W^{\mathfrak{sp}}_{\infty}$ has many quotients which are strongly rational. This yields new examples of strongly rational $W$-superalgebras.
We construct an explicit isomorphism between blocks of cyclotomic Hecke algebras and (sign-modified) Khovanov-Lauda algebras in type A. These isomorphisms connect the categorification conjecture of Khovanov and Lauda to Ariki's categorification theorem. The Khovanov-Lauda algebras are naturally graded, which allows us to exhibit a non-trivial Z-grading on blocks of cyclotomic Hecke algebras, including symmetric groups in positive characteristic.
The affine quantum Schur algebra is a certain important infinite dimensional algebra whose representation theory is closely related to that of quantum affine $\frak{gl}_n$. Finite dimensional irreducible modules for the affine quantum Schur algebra ${\mathcal S}_{\vartriangle}(n,r)_{v}$ were classified in \cite{DDF}, where $v\in{\mathbb C}^*$ is not a root of unity. We will classify blocks of the affine quantum Schur algebra ${\mathcal S}_{\vartriangle}(n,r)_{v}$ in this paper.
The category of finite dimensional (type 1) representations of a quantum affine algebra $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak g})$ is not semisimple. However, as any abelian category with finite-length objects, it admits a unique decomposition into a direct sum of indecomposable subcategorie (blocks). We define the elliptic central character of a finite dimensional (type 1) representation of $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak g})$. Then we show that the block decomposition of this category is paramentrized by these elliptic central characters.
The aim of this paper is to study a Lie conformal algebra of Block type. In this paper, conformal derivation, conformal module of rank 1 and low-dimensional comohology of the Lie conformal algebra of Block type are studied. Also, the vertex Poisson algebra structure associated with the Lie conformal algebra of Block type is constructed.
We rule out a certain $9$-dimensional algebra over an algebraically closed field to be the basic algebra of a block of a finite group, thereby completing the classification of basic algebras of dimension at most $12$ of blocks of finite group algebras.
Let $K$ be a normal subgroup of the finite group $H$. To a block of a $K$-interior $H$-algebra we associate a group extension, and we prove that this extension is isomorphic to an extension associated to a block given by the Brauer homomorphism. This may be regarded as a generalization and an alternative treatment of Dade's results "Block extensions" Section 12.
We classify blocks of category $\mathcal{O}$ for rational Cherednik algebras and of cyclotomic Hecke algebras of type G(r,p,n) by using the "residue equivalence" for multi-partitions.
Let L be the Lie algebra of Block type over a field F of characteristic zero, defined with basis {L_{i,j} | i,j\in Z} and relations [L_{i,j},L_{k,l}]=((j+1)k-(l+1)i)L_{i+k,j+l}. Then L is Z^2-graded. In this paper, Z^2-graded L-modules of the intermediate series are classified.
Let ${\mathcal N}$ be the Lie algebra of all $n\times n$ strictly block upper triangular matrices over a field ${\mathbb F}$ relative to a given partition. In this paper, we give an explicit description of all derivations of ${\mathcal N}$.
We establish bounds for the representation dimension of skew group algebras and wreath products. Using this, we obtain bounds for the representation dimension of a block of a Hecke algebra of type A, in terms of the weight of the block. This includes certain blocks of group algebras of symmetric groups.
We develop new techniques to classify basic algebras of blocks of finite groups over algebraically closed fields of prime characteristic. We apply these techniques to simplify and extend previous classifications by Linckelmann, Murphy and Sambale. In particular, we fully classify blocks with 16-dimensional basic algebra.
Classical invariants for representations of one Lie group can often be related to invariants of some other Lie group. Physics suggests that the right objects to consider for these questions are certain refinements of classical invariants known as conformal blocks. Conformal blocks appear in algebraic geometry as spaces of global sections of line bundles on the moduli stack of parabolic bundles on a smooth curve. Rank-level duality connects a conformal block associated to one Lie algebra to a conformal block for a different Lie algebra. In this paper we prove a rank-level duality for type so(2r…
We study the Dunkl-Opdam subalgebra of the rational Cherednik algebra for wreath products at $t=0$, and use this to describe the block decomposition of restricted rational Cherednik algebras for $G(m,d,n)$.
Brauer algebras form a tower of cellular algebras. There is a well-defined notion of limiting blocks for these algebras. In this paper we give a complete description of these limiting blocks over any field of positive characteristic. We also prove the existence of a class of homomorphisms between cell modules.
A pointed $p$-group is a pointed group $P_γ$ such that $P$ is a $p$-group. We parameterize the pointed $p$-groups on a group algebra or on a block algebra of a group algebra. The parameterization involves $p$-subgroups and irreducible characters of centralizers of $p$-subgroups.
We show, using basic Morita equivalences between block algebras of finite groups, that the Conjecture of H. Sasaki from [9] is true for a new class of blocks called nilpotent covered blocks. When this Conjecture is true we define some transfer maps between cohomology of block algebras and we analyze them through transfer maps between Hochschild cohomol- ogy algebras.
We prove Turner's conjecture, which describes the blocks of the Hecke algebras of the symmetric groups up to derived equivalence as certain explicit Turner double algebras. Turner doubles are Schur-algebra-like `local' objects, which replace wreath products of Brauer tree algebras in the context of the Broué abelian defect group conjecture for blocks of symmetric groups with non-abelian defect groups. The main tools used in the proof are generalized Schur algebras corresponding to wreath products of zigzag algebras and imaginary semicuspidal quotients of affine KLR algebras.
Let $G$ be a finite group and $(K,\mathcal{O},k)$ be a $p$-modular system "large enough". Let $R=\mathcal{O}$ or $k$. There is a bijection between the blocks of the group algebra $RG$ and the central primitive idempotents (the blocks) of the so-called cohomological Mackey algebra $coμ_{R}(G)$. Here, we prove that a so-called permeable derived equivalence between two blocks of group algebras implies the existence of a derived equivalence between the corresponding blocks of cohomological Mackey algebras. In particular, in the context of Broué's abelian defect group conjecture, if two blocks are …
We determine the blocks of the Brauer algebra in characteristic zero. We also give information on the submodule structure of standard modules for this algebra.
When the characteristic of the underlying field is at least 5, we prove that the adjustment matrix for blocks of $q$-Schur algebras of weights 3 and 4 is the identity matrix. Moreover, we show that the decomposition numbers for weight 3 blocks of $q$-Schur algebras are bounded above by one.
We give a construction that in many cases gives a simple way to construct infinite families of algebras that are not Morita equivalent, but are all derived equivalent to the same block algebra of a finite group, and apply it to some small blocks. We make some remarks relating this construction to Donovan's Conjecture and Broue's Abelian Defect Group Conjecture.
In this paper, we construct a new class of modules over the Block algebra $\BB(q)$, where $q$ is a nonzero complex number. We determined the irreducibilities of these modules and the isomorphisms among them.
We show that if $B$ is a block of a finite group algebra $kG$ over an algebraically closed field $k$ of prime characteristic $p$ such that $\HH^1(B)$ is a simple Lie algebra and such that $B$ has a unique isomorphism class of simple modules, then $B$ is nilpotent with an elementary abelian defect group $P$ of order at least $3$, and $\HH^1(B)$ is in that case isomorphic to the Jacobson-Witt algebra $\HH^1(kP)$. In particular, no other simple modular Lie algebras arise as $\HH^1(B)$ of a block $B$ with a single isomorphism class of simple modules.
We study the twist-field representations of W-algebras and generalize construction of the corresponding vertex operators to D- and B-series. It is shown, how the computation of characters of these representations leads to nontrivial identities involving lattice theta-functions. We also propose a way to calculate their exact conformal blocks, expressing them for D-series in terms of geometric data of the corresponding Prym variety for covering curve with involution.
We study the relationship between the central ideals and the Jacobson radicals of blocks of group algebras. In particular, we characterize the blocks with the property that the square of the radical is a non-zero central ideal. Moreover, we also consider the blocks with the property that the cube of the radical becomes a non-zero central ideal.
We give a geometric description of the blocks of the Brauer algebra $B_n(δ)$ in characteristic zero as orbits of the Weyl group of type $D_n$. We show how the corresponding affine Weyl group controls the representation theory of the Brauer algebra in positive characteristic, with orbits corresponding to unions of blocks.
We give an algebraic proof for a theorem of Mislin in the case of cohomology of saturated fusion systems defined on p-groups when p is odd. Some applications of this theorem to block algebras of finite groups are also given.
We discuss finiteness/infiniteness of $τ$-tilting modules over tensor products of two symmetric algebras. As an application, we discuss that over block algebras of direct products of finite groups.
We study combinatorial blocks of multipartitions, exploring further the notions of weight, hub and core block introduced by the author in earlier papers. We answer the question of which pairs (w,theta) occur as the weight and hub of a block, and we examine the action of the affine Weyl group on the set of blocks.
We give an explicit approach for Bockstein homomorphisms of the Hochschild cohomology of a group algebra and of a block algebra of a finite group and we show some properties. To give explicit definitions for these maps we use an additive decomposition and a Product Formula for the Hochschild cohomology of group algebras given by Siegel and Witherspoon in 1999. For k an algebraically closed field of characteristic p and G a finite group we prove an additive decomposition and a Product Formula for the cohomology algebra of a defect group of a block ideal of kG with coefficients in the source alg…
We introduce the notion of the ell-weight lattice and the ell-root lattice adapted to the study of finite-dimensional representations of quantum affine algebras. We then study the ell-weights of the fundamental representations and show that they are invariant under the action of the associated braid group, in the case when the underlying simple Lie algebra is of classical type. As an application of this result we are able to give explicit formulas for their q-characters. An example is worked out in detail in Section 5. Finally, we describe the blocks in the category and prove that they are par…
In this paper, we study Whittaker modules for a Lie algebras of Block type. We define Whittaker modules and under some conditions, obtain a one to one correspondence between the set of isomorphic classes of Whittaker modules over this algebra and the set of ideals of a polynomial ring, parallel to a result from the classical setting and the case of the Virasoro algebra.
Given a block of a finite group, any source algebra has a basis invariant under the multiplicative actions of the defect group. Is such a basis a characteristic biset of the block fusion system? If the basis can be chosen to consist entirely of units, the question is answered in the affirmative. We prove the equivalence of several reformulations of this stronger condition on the source algebra.
We present some blocks of Ariki-Koike algebras $\mathcal{H}_{n,r}$ for which the decomposition matrices are independent of the characteristic of the underlying field. We complete the description of the graded decomposition numbers for blocks of Ariki-Koike algebras of weight at most two, which consists of analysing the indecomposable core blocks at level $r = 3$, and give a closed formula for the decomposition numbers in this case.
We study certain representations of quantum toroidal $\mathfrak{gl}_1$ algebra for $q=t$. We construct explicit bosonization of the Fock modules $\mathcal{F}_u^{(n',n)}$ with a nontrivial slope $n'/n$. As a vector space, it is naturally identified with the basic level 1 representation of affine $\mathfrak{gl}_n$. We also study twisted $W$-algebras of $\mathfrak{sl}_n$ acting on these Fock modules. As an application, we prove the relation on $q$-deformed conformal blocks which was conjectured in the study of $q$-deformation of isomonodromy/CFT correspondence.
We study the representation theory of the uniform block permutation algebra in the context of the representation theory of factorizable inverse monoids. The uniform block permutation algebra is a subalgebra of the partition algebra and is also known as the party algebra. We compute its characters and provide a Frobenius characteristic map to symmetric functions. This reveals connections of the characters of the uniform block permutation algebra and plethysms of Schur functions.
This paper classifies the blocks of the cyclotomic Hecke algebras of type G(r,1,n) over an arbitrary field. Rather than working with the Hecke algebras directly we work instead with the cyclotomic Schur algebras. The advantage of these algebras is that the cyclotomic Jantzen sum formula gives an easy combinatorial characterization of the blocks of the cyclotomic Schur algebras. We obtain an explicit description of the blocks by analyzing the combinatorics of `Jantzen equivalence'. We remark that a proof of the classification of the blocks of the cyclotomic Hecke algebras was announced in 1999.…
The definition of Rouquier for the families of characters of Weyl groups in terms of blocks of the associated Iwahori-Hecke algebra has made possible the generalization of this notion to the complex reflection groups. Here we give an algorithm for the determination of the "Rouquier blocks" of the cyclotomic Ariki-Koike algebras.
In this paper we consider the category of F^σof finite-dimensional representations of a twisted loop algebra corresponding to a finite-dimensional Lie algebra with non-trivial diagram automorphism. Although F^σis not semisimple, it can be written as a sum of indecomposable subcategories (the blocks of the category). To describe these summands, we introduce the twisted spectral characters for the twisted loop algebra. These are certain equivalence classes of the spectral characters defined by Chari and Moura for an untwisted loop algebra, which were used to provide a description of the blocks o…
Let $G=SL(2,5)$ be the special linear group of $2 \times 2$-matrices with coefficients in the field with $5$ elements. We show that the principal block over a splitting field $K$ of characteristic two of the group algebra $KG$ has a $3$-cluster tilting module. This gives the first example of a representation-infinite block of a group algebra having a cluster tilting module and answers a question by Erdmann and Holm.
In this paper we investigate gradings on tame blocks of group algebras whose defect group is dihedral. We classify gradings on an arbitrary dihedral block up to graded Morita equivalence. We do this by computing the group of outer automorphisms that fix the isomorphism classes of simple modules. We also show how to grade these blocks via transfer of gradings via dervied equivalences.
We verify a finiteness conjecture of Feit on sources of simple modules over group algebras for various classes of finite groups related to the symmetric groups.
We contribute to the classification of finite dimensional algebras under stable equivalence of Morita type. More precisely we give a classification of the class of Erdmann's algebras of dihedral, semi-dihedral and quaternion type and obtain as byproduct the validity of the Auslander-Reiten conjecture for these classes of algebras.
Let $G$ be a finite group and $(K,\mathcal{O},k)$ be a $p$-modular system. Let $R=\mathcal{O}$ or $k$. There is a bijection between the blocks of the group algebra and the blocks of the so-called $p$-local Mackey algebra $μ_{R}^{1}(G)$. Let $b$ be a block of $RG$ with abelian defect group $D$. Let $b'$ be its Brauer correspondant in $N_{G}(D)$. It is conjectured by Broué that the blocks $RGb$ and $RN_{G}(D)b'$ are derived equivalent. Here we look at equivalences between the corresponding blocks of $p$-local Mackey algebras. We prove that an analogue of the Broué's conjecture is true for the $p…
Block type Lie algebras have been studied by many authors in the latest twenty years. In this paper, we will study a class of more general Block type Lie algebra $\mathcal{B}(p,q)$, which is a class of infinite-dimensional Lie algebra by using the generalized Balinskii-Novikov's construction method to Witt type Novikov algebra. We study the representation theory for $\mathcal{B}(p,q)$. We classify quasifinite irreducible highest weight $\mathcal{B}(p,q)$-module. We also prove that any quasifinite irreducible module of Block type Lie algebras $\mathcal{B}(p,q)$ is either a highest or lowest wei…
We study the interaction between the block decompositions of reduced universal enveloping algebras in positive characteristic, the PBW filtration, and the nilpotent cone. We provide two natural versions of the PBW filtration on the block subalgebra $A_λ$ of the restricted universal enveloping algebra $\mathcal{U}_χ(\mathfrak{g})$ and show these are dual to each other. We also consider a shifted PBW filtration for which we relate the associated graded algebra to the algebra of functions on the Frobenius neighbourhood of $0$ in the nilpotent cone and the coinvariants algebra corresponding to $λ$…
In this paper, we introduce a class of infinite Lie conformal algebras $\mathfrak{B}(α,β,p)$, which are the semi-direct sums of Block type Lie conformal algebra $\mathfrak{B}(p)$ and its non-trivial conformal modules of $\Z$-graded free intermediate series. The annihilation algebras are a class of infinite-dimensional Lie algebras, which include a lot of interesting subalgebras: Virasoro algebra, Block type Lie algebra, twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra and so on. We give a complete classification of all finite non-trivial irreducible conformal modules of $\mathfrak{B}(α,β,p)$ for $α,β\in\C,…
We consider RoCK (or Rouquier) blocks of symmetric groups and Hecke algebras at roots of unity. We prove a conjecture of Turner asserting that a certain idempotent truncation of a RoCK block of weight $d$ of a symmetric group $\mathfrak S_n$ defined over a field $F$ of characteristic $e$ is Morita equivalent to the principal block of the wreath product $\mathfrak S_e \wr \mathfrak S_d$. This generalises a theorem of Chuang and Kessar that applies to RoCK blocks with abelian defect groups. Our proof relies crucially on an isomorphism between $F\mathfrak S_n$ and a cyclotomic Khovanov-Lauda-Rouq…
We study birational geometry of the moduli space of parabolic bundles over a projective line, in the framework of Mori's program. We show that the moduli space is a Mori dream space. As a consequence, we obtain the finite generation of the algebra of type A conformal blocks. Furthermore, we compute the H-representation of the effective cone which was previously obtained by Belkale. For each big divisor, the associated birational model is described in terms of moduli space of parabolic bundles.
We construct and study a family of toric degenerations of the algebra of conformal blocks for a stable marked curve $(C, \vec{p})$ with structure group $SL_3(\mathbb{C}).$ We find that this algebra is Gorenstein. For the genus $0, 1$ cases we find the level of conformal blocks necessary to generate the algebra. In the genus 0 case we also find bounds on the degrees of relations required to present the algebra. Along the way we recover polyhedral rules for counting conformal blocks originally due to Senechal, Mathieu, Kirillov, and Walton.
We determine the blocks of the walled Brauer algebra in characteristic zero. These can be described in terms of orbits of the action of a Weyl group of type $A$ on a certain set of weights. In positive characteristic we give a linkage principle in terms of orbits of the corresponding affine Weyl group. We also classify the semisimple walled Brauer algebras in all characteristics.
