We consider the core blocks corresponding to the Hecke algebras of type B over a field of arbitrary characteristic. To each core block B, we associate two non-negative integers which determine the indexing of the Specht modules and simple modules in the block, the weight of the block, the multicharge of the algebra (up to a shift) and the block decomposition matrix.
We classify blocks of category $\mathcal{O}$ for rational Cherednik algebras and of cyclotomic Hecke algebras of type G(r,p,n) by using the "residue equivalence" for multi-partitions.
We define and study RoCK blocks for double covers of symmetric groups. We prove that RoCK blocks of double covers are Morita equivalent to standard `local' blocks. The analogous result for blocks of symmetric groups, a theorem of Chuang and Kessar, was an important step in Chuang and Rouquier ultimately proving Broué's abelian defect group conjecture for symmetric groups. Indeed we prove Broué's conjecture for the RoCK blocks defined in this article. Our methods involve translation into the quiver Hecke superalgebras setting using the Kang-Kashiwara-Tsuchioka isomorphism and categorification m…
James's Conjecture predicts that the adjustment matrix for blocks of the Iwahori-Hecke algebra of the symmetric group is the identity matrix when the weight of the block is strictly less than the characteristic of the field. In this paper, we consider the case when the characteristic of the field is greater than or equal to 5, and prove that the adjustment matrix for the principal block of $\mathcal{H}_{5e}$ is the identity matrix whenever $e\neq4$. When $e=4$, we are able to calculate all but two entries of the adjustment matrix.
The families of characters, defined by Lusztig for Weyl groups, play an important role in the representation theory of finite reductive groups. The definition of Rouquier for the families of characters in terms of blocks of the Hecke algebra has made possible the generalization of this notion to the case of complex reflection groups. In this article, we study the Rouquier blocks of the cyclotomic Hecke algebras and we show that they depend on numerical data determined by the generic Hecke algebra. Moreover, we provide the algorithm and the results of their determination for all exceptional com…
The "Rouquier blocks" of the cyclotomic Hecke algebras, introduced by Rouquier, are a substitute for the "families of characters", defined by Lusztig for Weyl groups, which can be applied to all complex reflection groups. In this article, we determine them for the cyclotomic Hecke algebras of the groups of the infinite series, G(de,e,r), thus completing their calculation for all complex reflection groups.
In this paper we construct an action of the affine Hecke category (in its "Soergel bimodules" incarnation) on the principal block of representations of a simply-connected semisimple algebraic group over an algebraically closed field of characteristic bigger than the Coxeter number. This confirms a conjecture of G. Williamson and the second author, and provides a new proof of the tilting character formula in terms of antispherical $p$-Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials.
We establish bounds for the representation dimension of skew group algebras and wreath products. Using this, we obtain bounds for the representation dimension of a block of a Hecke algebra of type A, in terms of the weight of the block. This includes certain blocks of group algebras of symmetric groups.
We construct an explicit isomorphism between blocks of cyclotomic Hecke algebras and (sign-modified) Khovanov-Lauda algebras in type A. These isomorphisms connect the categorification conjecture of Khovanov and Lauda to Ariki's categorification theorem. The Khovanov-Lauda algebras are naturally graded, which allows us to exhibit a non-trivial Z-grading on blocks of cyclotomic Hecke algebras, including symmetric groups in positive characteristic.
This paper classifies the blocks of the cyclotomic Hecke algebras of type G(r,1,n) over an arbitrary field. Rather than working with the Hecke algebras directly we work instead with the cyclotomic Schur algebras. The advantage of these algebras is that the cyclotomic Jantzen sum formula gives an easy combinatorial characterization of the blocks of the cyclotomic Schur algebras. We obtain an explicit description of the blocks by analyzing the combinatorics of `Jantzen equivalence'. We remark that a proof of the classification of the blocks of the cyclotomic Hecke algebras was announced in 1999.…
We prove that the center of each degenerate cyclotomic Hecke algebra associated to the complex reflection group of type B_d(l) consists of symmetric polynomials in its commuting generators. The classification of the blocks of the degenerate cyclotomic Hecke algebras is an easy consequence. We then deduce that the center of an integral block of parabolic category O for the Lie algebra gl_n(C) is generated by the center of its universal enveloping algebra.
In this paper we construct representations of certain graded double affine Hecke algebras (DAHA) with possibly unequal parameters from geometry. More precisely, starting with a simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ together with a $\mathbb{Z}/m\mathbb{Z}$-grading $\oplus_{i}\mathfrak{g}_{i}$ and a block of $G_{\underline{0}}$-equivariant complexes on the nilpotent cone of $\mathfrak{g}_{\underline{1}}$ as introduced in \cite{LY1}, we attach a graded DAHA and construct its action on the direct sum of spiral inductions in that block. This generalizes results of Vasserot \cite{V} and Oblomkov-Yun \ci…
Let $\mathscr{H}_n$ denote the Iwahori-Hecke algebra corresponding to the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_n$. We set up a Green correspondence for bimodules of these Hecke algebras, and a Brauer correspondence between their blocks. We examine Specht modules for $\mathscr{H}_n$ and compute the vertices of certain Specht modules, before using this to give a classification of the vertices of blocks of $\mathscr{H}_n$ in any characteristic. Finally, we apply this classification to resolve the Dipper-Du conjecture about the structure of vertices of indecomposable $\mathscr{H}_n$-modules.
We find representation type of the cyclotomic quiver Hecke algebras of level two in affine type A. In particular, we have determined representation type for all the block algebras of Hecke algebras of classical type (except for characteristic two in type D), which has not been known for a long time. As an application of this result, we prove that block algebras of finite representation type are Brauer tree algebras whose Brauer trees are straight lines without exceptional vertex if the Hecke algebras are of classical type and the characteristic of the base field is odd. We conjecture that this…
For any algebra $A$ over an algebraically closed field $\mathbb{F}$, we say that an $A$-module $M$ is Schurian if $\mathrm{End}_A(M) \cong \mathbb{F}$. We say that $A$ is Schurian-finite if there are only finitely many isomorphism classes of Schurian $A$-modules, and Schurian-infinite otherwise. In this paper, we build on the work of Ariki and the second author to show that all blocks of type $A$ Hecke algebras of weight at least $2$ in quantum characteristic $e \geq 3$ are Schurian-infinite. This proves that if $e \geq 3$ then blocks of type $A$ Hecke algebras are Schurian-finite if and only …
Following the definition of Rouquier for the "families of characters" of a Weyl group and its generalization to the case of complex reflection groups, already appeared in the works of Broue-Kim and Malle-Rouquier, we show that these "families" depend on a numerical datum of the group, its "essential hyperplanes". Using this characterization, we provide the algorithm and the results of the determination of the Rouquier blocks of the cyclotomic Hecke algebras of all exceptional complex reflection groups.
In this article we classify all infinitesimal Hecke algebras of so_N. We establish isomorphism of their universal versions and the W-algebras of so_{N+2m+1} with a 1-block nilpotent element of the Jordan type (1,...,1,2m+1). This should be considered as a continuation of the recent joint paper with I. Losev, where the analogous results were obtained for the cases of gl_n and sp_{2n}.
We consider RoCK (or Rouquier) blocks of symmetric groups and Hecke algebras at roots of unity. We prove a conjecture of Turner asserting that a certain idempotent truncation of a RoCK block of weight $d$ of a symmetric group $\mathfrak S_n$ defined over a field $F$ of characteristic $e$ is Morita equivalent to the principal block of the wreath product $\mathfrak S_e \wr \mathfrak S_d$. This generalises a theorem of Chuang and Kessar that applies to RoCK blocks with abelian defect groups. Our proof relies crucially on an isomorphism between $F\mathfrak S_n$ and a cyclotomic Khovanov-Lauda-Rouq…
Külshammer, Olsson and Robinson conjectured that a certain set of numbers determined the invariant factors of the $\ell$-Cartan matrix for $S_n$ (equivalently, the invariant factors of the Cartan matrix for the Iwahori-Hecke algebra $\mathcal{H}_n(q)$, where $q$ is a primitive $\ell$th root of unity). We call these invariant factors Cartan invariants. In a previous paper, the second author calculated these Cartan invariants when $\ell=p^r$, $p$ prime, and $r\leq p$ and went on to conjecture that the formulae should hold for all $r$. Another result was obtained, which is surprising and counteri…
In this paper we propose a new approach to tilting modules for reductive algebraic groups in positive characteristic. We conjecture that translation functors give an action of the (diagrammatic) Hecke category of the affine Weyl group on the principal block. Our conjecture implies character formulas for the simple and tilting modules in terms of the p-canonical basis, as well as a description of the principal block as the anti-spherical quotient of the Hecke category. We prove our conjecture for GL_n using the theory of 2-Kac-Moody actions. Finally, we prove that the diagrammatic Hecke categor…
For a split reductive group $G$ over a finite field, we show that the neutral block of its mixed Hecke category with a fixed monodromy under the torus action is monoidally equivalent to the mixed Hecke category of the corresponding endoscopic group $H$ with trivial monodromy. We also extend this equivalence to all blocks. We give two applications. One is a relationship between character sheaves on $G$ with a fixed semisimple parameter and unipotent character sheaves on the endoscopic group $H$, after passing to asymptotic versions. The other is a similar relationship between representations of…
Consider representation theory associated to symmetric groups, or to Hecke algebras in type A, or to q-Schur algebras, or to finite general linear groups in non-describing characteristic. Rock blocks are certain combinatorially defined blocks appearing in such a representation theory, first observed by R. Rouquier. Rock blocks are much more symmetric than general blocks, and every block is derived equivalent to a Rock block. Motivated by a theorem of J. Chuang and R. Kessar in the case of symmetric group blocks of abelian defect, we pursue a structure theorem for these blocks.
We describe new families of the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov-Bernard (KZB) equations related to the WZW-theory corresponding to the adjoint $G$-bundles of different topological types over complex curves $Σ_{g,n}$ of genus $g$ with $n$ marked points. The bundles are defined by their characteristic classes - elements of $H^2(Σ_{g,n},\mathcal{Z}(G))$, where $\mathcal{Z}(G)$ is a center of the simple complex Lie group $G$. The KZB equations are the horizontality condition for the projectively flat connection (the KZB connection) defined on the bundle of conformal blocks over the moduli space of curves. …
Let $K$ be a non-discrete non-Archimedean local field with residue characteristic $p$. Let $G$ be the group of $K$ rational points of a algebraic connected reductive group defined over $K$. In this article we compute the extensions between characters of affine pro-$p$ Iwahori--Hecke algebra $\mathcal{H}^{\text{aff}}$ over an algebraically closed field $R$ of characteristic $p$. In rank one case we deduce the relation between the blocks and $L$-packets.
The definition of Rouquier for the families of characters of Weyl groups in terms of blocks of the associated Iwahori-Hecke algebra has made possible the generalization of this notion to the complex reflection groups. Here we give an algorithm for the determination of the "Rouquier blocks" of the cyclotomic Ariki-Koike algebras.
Let $H=H_q(n)$ be the Hecke algebra of the symmetric group of degree n, over a field of arbitrary characteristic, and where q is a primitive l-th root of unity in $K$. Let $H_ρ$ be an l-parabolic subalgebra of $H$. We give an elementary explicit construction for the basic algebra of a non-simple block of $H_ρ$. We also discuss homological properties of $H_ρ$-modules, in particular existence of varieties for modules, and some consequences.
The main question we are going to address in this paper is: How much does the representation theory of the $p$-adic group $\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathcal{D})$ depend on the $p$-adic division algebra $\mathcal{D}$? Let $\mathcal{D}$ be a central division algebra defined over some locally compact non-archimedean local field. Using Bushnell-Kutzko theory of types and Sécherre-Stevens decomposition of spherical Hecke algebras associated to types, we obtain that the cuspidal blocks in the Bernstein decomposition of the category $\mathcal{R} \left( \mathrm{GL}_n(\mathcal{D}) \right)$ of smooth complex repre…
We prove Turner's conjecture, which describes the blocks of the Hecke algebras of the symmetric groups up to derived equivalence as certain explicit Turner double algebras. Turner doubles are Schur-algebra-like `local' objects, which replace wreath products of Brauer tree algebras in the context of the Broué abelian defect group conjecture for blocks of symmetric groups with non-abelian defect groups. The main tools used in the proof are generalized Schur algebras corresponding to wreath products of zigzag algebras and imaginary semicuspidal quotients of affine KLR algebras.
We investigate certain categories, associated by Fiebig with the geometric representation of a Coxeter system, via sheaves on Bruhat graphs. We modify Fiebig's definition of translation functors in order to extend it to the singular setting and use it to categorify a parabolic Hecke module. As an application we obtain a combinatorial description of indecomposable projective objects of (truncated) non-critical singular blocks of (a deformed version of) category $\mathcal{O}$, using indecomposable special modules over the structure algebra of the corresponding Bruhat graph.
This paper classifies and constructs explicitly all the irreducible representations of affine Hecke algebras of rank two root systems. The methods used to obtain this classification are primarily combinatorial and are, for the most part, an application of the methods used in a recent preprint of Ram. A special effort has been made special effort to describe how the classification here relates to the classifications by Langlands parameters (coming from p-adic group theory) and by indexing triples (coming from a q-analogue of the Springer correspondence). The examples here illustrate and clarify…
The main result of this paper shows that, over large enough fields of characteristic different from $2$, the alternating Hecke algebras are $\mathbb{Z}$-graded algebras that are isomorphic to fixed-point subalgebras of the quiver Hecke algebra of the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_n$. As a special case, this shows that the group algebra of the alternating group, over large enough fields of characteristic different from $2$, is a $\mathbb{Z}$-graded algebra. We give a homogeneous presentation for these algebras, compute their graded dimension and show that the blocks of the quiver Hecke algebras…
For simply-laced quivers, we consider the fixed-point subalgebra of the quiver Hecke algebra under the homogeneous sign map. This leads to a new family of algebras we call alternating quiver Hecke algebras. We give a basis theorem and a presentation by generators and relations which is strikingly similar to the KLR presentation for quiver Hecke algebras.
