We continue to study (strong) property-$(R_1)$ in Banach spaces. As discussed by Pai \& Nowroji in [{\it On restricted centers of sets}, J. Approx. Theory, {\bf 66}(2), 170--189 (1991)], this study corresponds to a triplet $(X,V,\mathcal{F})$, where $X$ is a Banach space, $V$ is a closed convex set, and $\mathcal{F}$ is a subfamily of closed, bounded subsets of $X$. It is observed that if $X$ is a Lindenstrauss space then $(X,B_X,\mathcal{K}(X))$ has strong property-$(R_1)$, where $\mathcal{K}(X)$ represents the compact subsets of $X$. It is established that for any $F\in\mathcal{K}(X)$, $ extrm{Cent}_{B_X}(F)
eq\emptyset$. This extends the well-known fact that a compact subset of a Lindenstrauss space $X$ admits a nonempty Chebyshev center in $X$. We extend our observation that $ extrm{Cent}_{B_X}$ is Lipschitz continuous in $\mathcal{K}(X)$ if $X$ is a Lindenstrauss space. If $Y$ is a subspace of a Banach space $X$ and $\mathcal{F}$ represents the set of all finite subsets of $B_X$ then we observe that $B_Y$ exhibits the condition for simultaneously strongly proximinal (viz. property-$(P_1)$) in $X$ for $F\in\mathcal{F}$ if $(X, Y, \mathcal{F}(X))$ satisfies strong property-$(R_1)$, where $\mathcal{F}(X)$ represents the set of all finite subsets of $X$. It is demonstrated that if $P$ is a bi-contractive projection in $\ell_\infty$, then $(\ell_\infty, Range (P), \mathcal{K}(\ell_\infty))$ exhibits the strong property-$(R_1)$, where $\mathcal{K}(\ell_\infty)$ represents the set of all compact subsets of $\ell_\infty$. Furthermore, stability results for these properties are derived in continuous function spaces, which are then studied for various sums in Banach spaces.
In this paper we study greedy approximation in Banach spaces. We discuss a modification of the Weak Chebyshev Greedy Algorithm, in which steps of the algorithm can be executed imprecisely. Such inaccuracies are represented by both absolute and relative errors, which provides more flexibility for numerical applications. We obtain the conditions on the error parameters that guarantee convergence of the algorithm in all uniformly smooth Banach spaces and prove that these conditions are sharp. Additionally, we discuss the conditions that need to be imposed on a Banach space to guarantee convergenc…
In this paper, we discuss the stability of (restricted) Chebyshev centers in few function spaces. For an extremally disconnected compact Hausdorff space $K$ and a finite dimensional Banach space $X$, we prove the existence of Chebyshev centers of closed bounded subsets of the space of $X$-valued continuous functions on $K$, $C(K,X)$ and that of compact subsets of $M$-ideals in $C(K,X)$. It is also proved that the existence of restricted Chebyshev centers is stable in the space of vector-valued bounded functions on an arbitrary set. Furthermore, the stability of continuity properties of the Che…
In this paper, we prove the existence of a common fixed point in $C(K)$, the Chebyshev center of K, for a left reversible semigroup of isometry mappings. This existence result improves the results obtained by Lim et al. and Brodskii and Milman.
In this paper, we provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a restricted Chebyshev center of a compact subset of an $L_{1}$-predual space in a closed convex subset of the $L_{1}$-predual space. We also provide a geometrical characterization of an $L_{1}$-predual space in terms of the restricted Chebyshev radius in the following manner. A real Banach space $X$ is an $L_{1}$-predual space if and only if for each non-empty finite subset $F$ of $X$ and closed convex subset $V$ of $X$, $rad_{V}(F) = rad_{X}(F) + d(V, cent_{X}(F))$, where we denote $rad_{X}(F)$, $rad_{V}(F)$,…
For a compact Hausdorff space $S$, we prove that the closed unit ball of a closed linear subalgebra of the space of real-valued continuous functions on $S$, denoted by $C(S)$, satisfies property-$(P_1)$ (the set-valued generalization of strong proximinality) for the non-empty closed bounded subsets of the bidual of $C(S)$. Various stability results related to property-$(P_1)$ and semi-continuity properties of restricted Chebyshev-center maps are also established. As a consequence, we derive that if $Y$ is a proximinal finite co-dimensional subspace of $c_0$ then the closed unit ball of $Y$ sat…
In this paper, we present some common fixed point theorems for a commuting pair of mappings, including a generalized nonexpansive single valued mapping and a generalized nonexpansive multivalued mapping in strictly convex Banach spaces. The results obtained in this paper extend and improve some recent known results.
A linear continuous nonzero operator G:X->Y is a Daugavet center if every rank-1 operator T:X->Y satisfies ||G+T||=||G||+||T||. We study the case when either X or Y is a sum $X_1 \oplus_F X_2$ of two Banach spaces $X_1$ and $X_2$ by some two-dimensional Banach space F. We completely describe the class of those F such that for some spaces $X_1$ and $X_2$ there exists a Daugavet center acting from $X_1\oplus_F X_2$, and the class of those F such that for some pair of spaces $X_1$ and $X_2$ there is a Daugavet center acting into $X_1\oplus_F X_2$. We also present several examples of such Daugavet…
Let $E$ be a Banach lattice. Its ideal center $Z(E)$ is embedded naturally in the ideal center $Z(E')$ of its dual. The embedding may be extended to a contractive algebra and lattice homomorphism of $Z(E)"$ into $Z(E')$. We show that the extension is onto $Z(E')$ if and only if $E$ has a topologically full center. (That is, for each $x\in E$, the closure of $Z(E)x$ is the closed ideal generated by $x$.) The result can be generalized to the ideal center of the order dual of an Archimedean Riesz space and in a modified form to the orthomorphisms on the order dual of an Archimedean Riesz space.
In previous papers, we used abstract potential theory, as developed by Fuglede and Ohtsuka, to a systematic treatment of rendezvous numbers. We introduced energies, Chebyshev constants as two variable set functions, and the modified notion of rendezvous intervals which proved to be rather nicely behaved even for only lower semicontinuous kernels or for not necessarily compact metric spaces. Here we study the rendezvous and average numbers of possibly infinite dimensional normed spaces. It turns out that very general existence and uniqueness results hold for the modified rendezvous numbers in a…
We prove that for a Banach algebra $A$ having a bounded $\mathcal{Z}(A)$-approximate identity and for every $\bf[IN]$ group $G$ with weight $w$ which is either constant on conjugacy classes or $w \geq 1$, $\mathcal{Z}\big(L^1_w(G) \otimes^γA\big) \cong \mathcal{Z}(L^1_w(G)) \otimes^γ\mathcal{Z}(A)$. As an application, we discuss the conditions under which $\mathcal{Z}\big(L^1_w(G,A)\big)$ enjoys certain Banach algebraic properties, for example, weak amenability, semisimplicity etc.
For Banach left and right module actions, we extend some propositions from Lau and $\ddot{U}lger$ into general situations and we establish the relationships between topological centers of module actions. We also introduce the new concepts as $Lw^*w$-property and $Rw^*w$-property for Banach $A-bimodule$ $B$ and we obtain some conclusions in the topological center of module actions and Arens regularity of Banach algebras. we also study some factorization properties of left module actions and we find some relations of them and topological centers of module actions. For Banach algebra $A$, we exte…
We study sparse approximation by greedy algorithms. We prove the Lebesgue-type inequalities for the Weak Chebyshev Greedy Algorithm (WCGA), a generalization of the Weak Orthogonal Matching Pursuit to the case of a Banach space. The main novelty of these results is a Banach space setting instead of a Hilbert space setting. The results are proved for redundant dictionaries satisfying certain conditions. Then we apply these general results to the case of bases. In particular, we prove that the WCGA provides almost optimal sparse approximation for the trigonometric system in $L_p$, $2\le p<\infty$…
Let $B$ be a Banach $A-bimodule$. We introduce the weak topological centers of left module action and we show it by $ ilde{Z}^\ell_{B^{**}}(A^{**})$. For a compact group, we show that $L^1(G)= ilde{Z}_{M(G)^{**}}^\ell(L^1(G)^{**})$ and on the other hand we have $ ilde{Z}_1^\ell{(c_0^{**})}
eq c_0^{**}$. Thus the weak topological centers are different with topological centers of left or right module actions. In this manuscript, we investigate the relationships between two concepts with some conclusions in Banach algebras. We also have some application of this new concept and topological cen…
Let $X$ be a left introverted subspace of dual of a Banach algebra. We study $Z_t(X^*),$ the topological center of Banach algebra $X^*$. We fined the topological center of $(X\cA)^*$, when $\cA$ has a bounded right approximate identity and $\cA\subseteq X^*.$ So we introduce a new notation of amenability for a dual Banach algebra $\cal A$. A dual Banach algebra $\cal A$ is weakly Connes-amenable if the first $weak^*-$continuous cohomology group of $\cal A$ with coefficients in $\cal A$ is zero; i.e., $H^1_{w^*}(\cal A, \cal A)=\{o\}$. We study the weak Connes-amenability of some dual Banach al…
In this paper, we will study the topological centers of $n-th$ dual of Banach $A-module$ and we extend some propositions from Lau and $\ddot{U}lger$ into $n-th$ dual of Banach $A-modules$. Let $B$ be a Banach $A-bimodule$. By using some new conditions, we show that ${{Z}^\ell}_{A^{(n)}}(B^{(n)})=B^{(n)}$ and ${{Z}^\ell}_{B^{(n)}}(A^{(n)})=A^{(n)}$. We also have some conclusions in dual groups.
Let $A$ be a Banach algebra and $A^{**}$ be the second dual of it. We define $ ilde{Z}_1(A^{**})$ as a weak topological center of $A^{**}$ with respect to first Arens product and find some relations between it and the topological center of $A^{**}$. We also extend this new definition into module actions and find relationship between weak topological center of module actions and reflexivity or Arens regularity of some Banach algebras, and we investigate some applications of this new definition in the weak amenability of some Banach algebras.

In this paper, first we study some Arens regularity properties of module actions. Let $B$ be a Banach $A-bimodule$ and let ${Z}^\ell_{B^{**}}(A^{**})$ and ${Z}^\ell_{A^{**}}(B^{**})$ be the topological centers of the left module action $π_\ell:~A imes B\rightarrow B$ and the right module action $π_r:~B imes A\rightarrow B$, respectively. In this paper, we prove that if $E$ is a uniquely remotal subset of a real normed linear space $X$ such that $E$ has a Chebyshev center $c \in X$ and the farthest point map $F:X\rightarrow E$ restricted to $[c,F(c)]$ is partially statistically continuous at $c$, then $E$ is a singleton. We obtain a necessary condition on uniquely remotal subsets of uniformly rotund Banach spaces to be a singleton. Moreover, we show that there exists a remotal set $M$ having a Chebyshev center $c$ such that the farthest point map $F:\mathbb{R}\rightarrow M$ is not continuous at $c$ but is partially statisticall…
In this paper, we will study the topological centers of $n-th$ dual of Banach $A-module$ and we extend some propositions from Lau and Ülger into $n-th$ dual of Banach $A-modules$ where $n\geq 0$ is even number. Let $B$ be a Banach $A-bimodule$. By using some new conditions, we show that ${{Z}^\ell}_{A^{(n)}}(B^{(n)})=B^{(n)}$ and ${{Z}^\ell}_{B^{(n)}}(A^{(n)})=A^{(n)}$. Let $S$ be an inverse semigroup with an upward directed set of idempotents $E$. In this paper we define the module topological center of second dual of a Banach algebra which is a Banach module over another Banach algebra with compatible actions, and find it for $ \ell ^{1}(S)^{**}$ (as an $\ell^{1}(E)$-module). We also prove that $ \ell ^{1}(S)^{**}$ is $\ell^{1}(E)$-module amenable if and only if an appropriate group homomorphic image of $S$ is finite.
Assume that $A$, $B$ are Banach algebras and $m:A imes B o B$, $m^\prime:A imes A o B$ are bounded bilinear mappings. We will study the relation between Arens regularities of $m$, $m^\prime$ and the Banach algebras $A$, $B$. For Banach $A-bimodule$ $B$, we show that $B$ factors with respect to $A$ if and only if $B^{**}$ is an unital $A^{**}-module$, and we define locally topological center for elements of $A^{**}$ and will show that when locally topological center of mixed unit of $A^{**}$ is $B^{**}$, then $B^*$ factors on both sides with respect to $A$ if and only if $B^{**}$ has a unit…

We discuss a set-valued generalization of strong proximinality in Banach spaces, introduced by J. Mach [Continuity properties of Chebyshev centers, J. Approx. Theory, 29(3):223--230, 1980] as property-$(P_1)$. We establish that if the closed unit ball of a closed subspace of a Banach space $X$ possesses property-$(P_1)$ for each of the classes of closed bounded, compact and finite subsets of $X$, then so does the subspace. It is also proved that the closed unit ball of an $M$-ideal in an $L_{1}$-predual space satisfies property-$(P_{1})$ for the compact subsets of the space. For a Choquet simp…
The purpose of this paper is to introduce $ω$-Chebyshev-greedy and $ω$-partially greedy approximation classes and to study their relation with $ω$-approximation spaces, where the latter are a generalization of the classical approximation spaces. The relation gives us sufficient conditions of when certain continuous embeddings imply different greedy-type properties. Along the way, we generalize a result by P. Wojtaszczyk as well as characterize semi-greedy Schauder bases in quasi-Banach spaces, generalizing a previous result by the first author.
We present some new results concerning Lebesgue-type inequalities for the Weak Chebyshev Greedy Algorithm (WCGA) in uniformly smooth Banach spaces $\mathbb{X}$. First, we generalize a result of Temlyakov to cover situations in which the modulus of smoothness and the so called A3 parameter are not necessarily power functions. Secondly, we apply this new theorem to the Zygmund spaces $\mathbb{X}=L^p(\log L)^α$, with $1<p<\infty$ and $α\in\mathbb{R}$, and show that, when the Haar system is used, then optimal recovery of $N$-sparse signals occurs when the number of iterations is $ϕ(N)=O(N^{\max\{1…
We provide some new consequences on the Lipschitz numerical radius and index which were introduced recently. More precisely, we give some renorming results on the Lipschitz numerical index, introduce a concept of Lipschitz numerical radius attaining functions in order to show that the denseness fails for an arbitrary Banach space, and study a Lipschitz version of Daugavet centers. Furthermore, we discuss the Lipschitz numerical index of vector-valued function spaces, absolute sums of Banach spaces, the Köthe-Bochner spaces, and Banach spaces which contain a dense union of increasing family of …
For every nonempty compact convex subset $K$ of a normed linear space a (unique) point $c_K \in K$, called the generalized Chebyshev center, is distinguished. It is shown that $c_K$ is a common fixed point for the isometry group of the metric space $K$. With use of the generalized Chebyshev centers, the central measure $μ_X$ of an arbitrary compact metric space $X$ is defined. For a large class of compact metric spaces, including the interval $[0,1]$ and all compact metric groups, another `central' measure is distinguished, which turns out to coincide with the Lebesgue measure and the Haar one…
We obtain formulae to calculate the asymptotic center and radius of bounded sequences in ${\cal C}_0(L)$ spaces. We also study the existence of continuous selectors for the asymptotic center map in general Banach spaces. In Hilbert spaces, even a Hölder-type estimation is given.
In this paper, we will study some Arens regularity properties of module actions. In this paper, we will extend some problems from topological center of second dual of Banach algebra $A$, $Z_1(A^{**})$, into spaces ${Z}^\ell_{B^{**}}(A^{**})$ and ${Z}^\ell_{A^{**}}(B^{**})$. We investigate some relationships between ${Z}_1({A^{**}})$ and t…
For a Banach left module action, we will extend some propositions from Lau and $\ddot{U}$lger and others into general situations and we establish the relationships between topological centers of the left module action with the multiplier and factorization properties of left module actions. We have some applications in the dual groups.
This work will be centered in commutative Banach subalgebras of the algebra of bounded linear operators defined on a Free Banach spaces of countable type. The main goal of this work wil be to formulate a representation theorem for these operators through integrals defined by spectral measures type. In order to get this objective, we will show that, under special conditions, each one of these algebras is isometrically isomorphic to some space of continuous functions defined over a compact set. Then, we will identify such compact developing the Gelfand space theory in the non-archimedean setting…
In this paper we study properties of complete sets and of completions of sets in Banach spaces. We consider the family of completions of a given set and its size; we also study in detail the relationships concerning diameters, radii, and centers. The results are illustrated by several examples.
The paper deals with the study of Banach spaces whose duals are injective Banach lattices. Davies in 1967 proved that an ordered Banach space is an $L^1$-predual space if and only if it is a simplex space. In 2007 Duan and Lin proved that a real Banach space is an $L^1$-predual space if and only if its every four-point subset is centerable. We prove the counterparts of these remarkable results for injectives by the new machinery of Boolean valued transfer from $L^1$-spaces to injective Banach lattices.
In this article, we show that every centered Gaussian measure on an infinite dimensional separable Fréchet space $X$ over $\mathbb R$ admits some full measure Banach intermediate space between $X$ and its Cameron-Martin space. We provide a way of generating such spaces and, by showing a partial converse, give a characterization of Banach intermediate spaces. Finally, we show an example of constructing an $α$-Hölder intermediate space in the space of continuous functions, $\mathcal C_0[0, 1]$ with the classical Wiener measure.
Let $B$ be a Banach $A-bimodule$ and let $n\geq 0$. We investigate the relationships between some cohomological groups of $A$, that is, if the topological center of the left module action $π_\ell:A imes B\rightarrow B$ of $A^{(2n)}$ on $B^{(2n)}$ is $B^{(2n)}$ and $H^1(A^{(2n+2)},B^{(2n+2)})=0$, then we have $H^1(A,B^{(2n)})=0$, and we find the relationships between cohomological groups such as $H^1(A,B^{(n+2)})$ and $H^1(A,B^{(n)})$, spacial $H^1(A,B^*)$ and $H^1(A,B^{(2n+1)})$. We obtain some results in Connes-amenability of Banach algebras, and so for every compact group $G$, we conclude t…
An operator $G : \allowbreak X o Y$ is said to be a Daugavet center if $\|G + T\| = \|G\| + \|T\|$ for every rank-1 operator $T : \allowbreak X o Y$. The main result of the paper is: if $G : \allowbreak X o Y$ is a Daugavet center, $Y$ is a subspace of a Banach space $E$, and $J: Y o E$ is the natural embedding operator, then $E$ can be equivalently renormed in such a way, that $J \circ G : X o E$ is also a Daugavet center. This result was previously known for particular case $X=Y$, $G=\mathrm{Id}$ and only in separable spaces. The proof of our generalization is based on an idea comp…
In this paper, we study the Arens regularity properties of module actions and we extend some proposition from Baker, Dales, Lau and others into general situations. We establish some relationships between them and factorization properties of $A^*$ and $B^*$. We search some necessary and sufficient conditio…
Let $n\geq 3$, and let $B_1^n$ be the standard $n$-dimensional cross-polytope (i.e. the convex hull of standard coordinate vectors and their negatives). We show that there exists a symmetric convex body $\mathcal G_m$ in ${\mathbb R}^n$ such that the Banach--Mazur distance $d(B_1^n,\mathcal G_m)$ satisfies $d(B_1^n,\mathcal G_m)\geq n^{5/9}\log^{-C}n$, where $C>0$ is a universal constant. The body $\mathcal G_m$ is obtained as a typical realization of a random polytope in ${\mathbb R}^n$ with $2m:=2n^C$ vertices (for a large constant $C$). The result improves upon an earlier estimate of S.Szar…
Let $X$ be a separable Banach space endowed with a non-degenerate centered Gaussian measure $μ$. The associated Cameron--Martin space is denoted by $H$. Consider two sufficiently regular convex functions $U:X\rightarrow\mathbb{R}$ and $G:X\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$. We let $ν=e^{-U}μ$ and $Ω=G^{-1}(-\infty,0]$. In this paper we are interested in the $W^{2,2}$ regularity of the weak solutions of elliptic equations of the type \begin{align}\label{Probelma in abstract} λu-L_{ν,Ω} u=f, \end{align} where $λ>0$, $f\in L^2(Ω,ν)$ and $L_{ν,Ω}$ is the self-adjoint operator associated with the quadratic fo…
