In this paper, by using Schwarz rearrangement and isoperimetric inequalities, we prove comparison results for the solutions of Poisson equations on complete Riemannian manifolds with $Ric\geq (n-1)κ$, $\, κ\geq 0$, which extends the results in \cite{ANT-Talenti-a}. Furthermore, as applications of our comparison results, we obtain the Saint-Venant inequality and Bossel-Daners inequality for Robin Laplacian.
We consider the first Robin eigenvalue $ł_p(M,\a)$ for the $p$-Laplacian on a compact Riemannian manifold $M$ with nonempty smooth boundary, with $\a \in \R$ being the Robin parameter. Firstly, we prove eigenvalue comparison theorems of Cheng type for $ł_p(M,\a)$. Secondly, when $\a>0$ we establish sharp lower bound of $ł_p(M,\a)$ in terms of dimension, inradius, Ricci curvature lower bound and boundary mean curvature lower bound, via comparison with an associated one-dimensional eigenvalue problem. The lower bound becomes an upper bound when $\a<0$. Our results cover corresponding comparison …
In this short note, we study the gradient estimate of positive solutions to Poisson equation and the non-homogeneous heat equation in a compact Riemannian manifold (M^n,g). Our results extend the gradient estimate for positive harmonic functions and positive solutions to heat equations.
We study the Robin eigenvalue problem for the Laplace-Beltrami operator on Riemannian manifolds. Our first result is a comparison theorem for the second Robin eigenvalue on geodesic balls in manifolds whose sectional curvatures are bounded from above. Our second result asserts that geodesic balls in nonpositively curved space forms maximize the second Robin eigenvalue among bounded domains of the same volume.
We prove an existence result for the Poisson equation on non-compact Riemannian manifolds satisfying weighted Poincaré inequalities outside compact sets. Our result applies to a large class of manifolds including, for instance, all non-parabolic manifolds with minimal positive Green's function vanishing at infinity. On the source function we assume a sharp pointwise decay depending on the weight appearing in the Poincaré inequality and on the behavior of the Ricci curvature at infinity. We do not require any curvature or spectral assumptions on the manifold.
A formal treatment of Killing 1-form and 2-Killing 1-form on Riemannian Poisson manifold, Riemannian Poisson warped product space are presented. In this way, we obtain Bochner type result on compact Riemannian Poisson manifold, compact Riemannian Poisson warped product space for Killing 1-form and 2-Killing 1-form. Finally, we give the characterization of a 2-Killing 1-form on $(\mathbb{R}^2,g,Π)$.
In this paper, we study the Sobolev regularity of solutions to nonlinear second order elliptic equations with super-linear first-order terms on Riemannian manifolds, complemented with Neumann boundary conditions, when the source term of the equation belongs to a Lebesgue space, under various integrability regimes. Our method is based on an integral refinement of the Bochner's identity, and leads to "semilinear Calderón-Zygmund" type results. Applications to the problem of smoothness of solutions to Mean Field Games systems with Neumann boundary conditions posed on convex domains of the Euclide…
Given a three dimensional pseudo-Einstein CR manifold $(M,T^{1,0}M,θ)$, we study the existence of a contact structure conformal to $θ$ for which the logarithmic Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev (LHLS) inequality holds. Our approach closely follows \cite{Ok1} in the Riemannian setting. For this purpose, we introduce the notion of Robin mass as the constant term appearing in the expansion of the Green's function of the $P'$-operator. We show that the LHLS inequality appears when we study the variation of the total mass under conformal change. Then we exhibit an Aubin type result guaranteeing the existen…
Arnlind, Hoppe and Huisken showed how to express the Gauss and mean curvature of a surface embedded in a Riemannian manifold in terms of Poisson brackets of the embedding coordinates. We generalize these expressions to the pseudo-Riemannian setting and derive explicit formulas for the case of surfaces embedded in $\R^m$ with indefinite metric.
Let $(G,Π_{G},\tilde{g})$ be a Poisson-Lie group equipped with a left invariant pseudo-Riemannian metric $\tilde{g}$ and let $(TG,Π_{TG},\tilde{g}^{c})$ be the Sanchez de Alvarez tangent Poisson-Lie group of $G$ equipped with the left invariant pseudo-Riemannian metric $\tilde{g}^{c}$, complete lift of $\tilde{g}$. In this paper, we express respectively the Levi-Civita connection, curvature and metacurvature of $(TG,Π_{TG},\tilde{g}^{c})$ in terms of the Levi-Civita connection, curvature and metacurvature of the basis Poisson-Lie group $(G,Π_{G},\tilde{g})$ and we prove that the space of diffe…
In this article, we establish a $L^1$ estimate for solutions to Poisson equation with mixed boundary condition, on complete noncompact manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature and compact manifolds with positive Ricci curvature respectively. On Riemann surfaces we obtain a Talenti-type comparison. Our results generalize main theorems in [2] to Riemannian setting, and Chen-Li's result [8] to the case of variable Robin parameter.
In this article, we prove Talenti's comparison theorem for Poisson equation on complete noncompact Riemannian manifold with nonnegative Ricci curvature. Furthermore, we obtain the Faber-Krahn inequality for the first eigenvalue of Dirichlet Laplacian, $L^1$- and $L^\infty$-moment spectrum, especially Saint-Venant theorem for torsional rigidity and a reverse Hölder inequality for eigenfunctions of Dirichlet Laplacian.
We define the notion of Witt structure on the tangent bundle of a pseudo-Riemannian manifold and we introduce a connection adapted to a such structure. The notions of geodesics and symmetric spaces are revisited in this setting and applications are given in the special cases of Robinson and Fefferman manifolds.
In this paper, we generalize the geometry of the product pseudo-Riemannian manifold equipped with the product Poisson structure (\cite{Nas2}) to the geometry of a warped product of pseudo-Riemannian manifolds equipped with a warped Poisson structure. We construct three bivector fields on a product manifold and show that each of them lead under certain conditions to a Poisson structure. One of these bivector fields will be called the warped bivector field. For a warped product of pseudo-Riemannian manifolds equipped with a warped bivector field, we compute the corresponding contravariant Levi-C…
This work is devoted to the study of a class of Poisson-Lie groups endowed with left invariant metrics. The triples $(G,π,<,>)$ are considered, where $G$ is a simply connected Lie group, ?$π$ is a multiplicative Poisson tensor and $<,>$ is a left invariant riemannian metric such that Hawkins conditions are satisfied. Hawkins conditions are necessary conditions for the deformation of the graded algebra of differential forms of a riemannian manifold. These conditions come from the deformation of the noncommutative spectral triple describing the manifold. The main result of this thesis is the equ…
We give a notion of compatibility between a Riemannian structure and a Jacobi structure. We prove that in case of fundamental examples of Jacobi structures : Poisson structures, contact structures and locally conformally symplectic structures, we get respectively Riemann-Poisson structures in the sense of M. Boucetta, 1/2-Kenmotsu structures and locally conformally Kahler structures.
On a compact Riemannian manifold $M$ with boundary, we give an estimate for the eigenvalues $(λ\_k(τ,α))\_k$ of the magnetic Laplacian with the Robin boundary conditions. Here, $τ$ is a positive number that defines the Robin condition and $α$ is a real differential 1-form on $M$ that represents the magnetic field. We express these estimates in terms of the mean curvature of the boundary, the parameter $τ$ and a lower bound of the Ricci curvature of $M$ (see Theorem \ref{estimate1} and Corollary \ref{corestimate}). The main technique is to use the Bochner formula established in \cite{ELMP} for …
Let $M$ be a complete connected Riemannian manifold with boundary $\pp M$, $Q$ a bounded continuous function on $\pp M$, and $L= \DD+Z$ for a $C^1$-vector field $Z$ on $M$. By using the reflecting diffusion process generated by $L$ and its local time on the boundary, a probabilistic formula is presented for the semigroup generated by $L$ on $M$ with Robin boundary condition $N,\nn f+Qf=0,$ where $N$ is the inward unit normal vector field of $\pp M$. As an application, the HWI inequality is established on manifolds with (nonconvex) boundary. In order to study this semigroup, Hsu's gradient esti…
We show existence of solutions to the Poisson equation on Riemannian manifolds with positive essential spectrum, assuming a sharp pointwise decay on the source function. In particular we can allow the Ricci curvature to be unbounded from below. In comparison with previous works, we can deal with a more general setting both on the spectrum and on the curvature bounds.
In this paper we provide some local and global splitting results on complete Riemannian manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature. We achieve the splitting through the analysis of some pointwise inequalities of Modica type which hold true for every bounded solution to a semilinear Poisson equation. More precisely, we prove that the existence of a nonconstant bounded solution $u$ for which one of the previous inequalities becomes an equality at some point leads to the splitting results as well as to a classification of such a solution $u$.
In a preceding paper we introduced a notion of compatibility between a Jacobi structure and a Riemannian structure on a smooth manifold. We proved that in the case of fundamental examples of Jacobi structures : Poisson structures, contact structures and locally conformally symplectic structures, we get respectively Riemann-Poisson structures in the sense of M. Boucetta, (1/2)-Kenmotsu structures and locally conformally Kähler structures. In this paper we are generalizing this work to the framework of Lie algebroids.
We study noncommutative bundles and Riemannian geometry at the semiclassical level of first order in a deformation parameter $λ$, using a functorial approach. The data for quantisation of the cotangent bundle is known to be a Poisson structure and Poisson preconnection and we now show that this data defines to a functor $Q$ from the monoidal category of classical vector bundles equipped with connections to the monodial category of bimodules equipped with bimodule connections over the quantised algebra. We adapt this functor to quantise the wedge product of the exterior algebra and in the Riema…
In this paper, we study the existence of Poisson metrics on flat vector bundles over noncompact Riemannian manifolds and discuss related consequence, specially on the applications in Higgs bundles, towards generalizing Corlette-Donaldson-Hitchin-Simpson's nonabelian Hodge correspondence to noncompact Kähler manifolds setting.
One way to generalize the boundary Yamabe problem posed by Escobar is to ask if a given metric on a compact manifold with boundary can be conformally deformed to have vanishing $σ_k$-curvature in the interior and constant $H_k$-curvature on the boundary. When restricting to the closure of the positive $k$-cone, this is a fully nonlinear degenerate elliptic boundary value problem with fully nonlinear Robin-type boundary condition. We prove a general bifurcation theorem which allows us to construct examples of compact Riemannian manifolds $(X,g)$ for which this problem admits multiple non-homoth…
Intuition drawn from quantum mechanics and geometric optics raises the following long-standing question: can the length spectrum of a closed Riemannian manifold be recovered from its Laplace spectrum? The Poisson relation states that for any closed Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$ the singular support of the trace of its wave group---a spectrally determined tempered distribution---is contained in the set consisting of $\pm τ$, where $τ$ is the length of a smoothly closed geodesic in $(M,g)$. Therefore, in cases where the Poisson relation is an equality, we obtain a method for retrieving the length …
On a Poisson manifold endowed with a Riemannian metric we will construct a vector field that generalizes the double bracket vector field defined on semi-simple Lie algebras. On a regular symplectic leaf we will construct a generalization of the normal metric such that the above vector field restricted to the symplectic leaf is a gradient vector field with respect to this metric.
This paper is a survey of some recent results on the validity and the failure of global $W^{2,p}$ regularity properties of smooth solutions of the Poisson equation $Δu = f$ on a complete Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$. We review different methods developed to obtain a-priori $L^p$-Hessian estimates of the form $\| \Hess(u) \|_{L^p} \leq C_1 \| u \|_{L^p} + C_2 \| f \|_{L^p}$ under various geometric conditions on $M$ both in the case of real valued functions and for manifold valued maps. We also present explicit and somewhat implicit counterexamples showing that, in general, this integral inequali…
We prove that the Riemannian geometry of almost Kähler manifolds can be expressed in terms of the Poisson algebra of smooth functions on the manifold. Subsequently, Kähler-Poisson algebras are introduced, and it is shown that a corresponding purely algebraic theory of geometry and curvature can be developed. As an illustration of the new concepts we give an algebraic proof of the statement that a bound on the (algebraic) Ricci curvature induces a bound on the eigenvalues of the (algebraic) Laplace operator, in analogy with the well-known theorem in Riemannian geometry. As the correspondence be…
Given a symplectic form and a pseudo-riemannian metric on a manifold, a non degenerate even Poisson bracket on the algebra of differential forms is defined and its properties are studied. A comparison with the Koszul-Schouten bracket is established.
We consider surfaces embedded in a Riemannian manifold of arbitrary dimension and prove that many aspects of their differential geometry can be expressed in terms of a Poisson algebraic structure on the space of smooth functions of the surface. In particular, we find algebraic formulas for Weingarten's equations, the complex structure and the Gaussian curvature.
Let (E,D,P) be a flat vector bundle with a parabolic structure over a punctured Riemann surface, (M,g). We consider a deformation of the harmonic metric equation which we call the Poisson metric equation. This equation arises naturally as the dimension reduction of the Hermitian-Yang-Mills equation for holomorphic vector bundles on K3 surfaces in the large complex structure limit. We define a notion of slope stability, and show that if the flat connection D has regular singularities, and the Riemannian metric g has finite volume then E admits a Poisson metric with asymptotics determined by the…
In this paper we study the homology of a random Cech complex generated by a homogeneous Poisson process in a compact Riemannian manifold M. In particular, we focus on the phase transition for "homological connectivity" where the homology of the complex becomes isomorphic to that of M. The results presented in this paper are an important generalization of [7], from the flat torus to general compact Riemannian manifolds. In addition to proving the statements related to homological connectivity, the methods we develop in this paper can be used as a framework for translating results for random geo…
A novel gravity theory based on Poisson Generalized Geometry is investigated. A gravity theory on a Poisson manifold equipped with a Riemannian metric is constructed from a contravariant version of the Levi-Civita connection, which is based on the Lie algebroid of a Poisson manifold. Then, we show that in Poisson Generalized Geometry the $R$-fluxes are consistently coupled with such a gravity. An $R$-flux appears as a torsion of the corresponding connection in a similar way as an $H$-flux which appears as a torsion of the connection for- mulated in the standard Generalized Geometry. We give an…
A Koszul-Vinberg manifold is a manifold $M$ endowed with a pair $(\nabla,h)$ where $\nabla$ is a flat connection and $h$ is a symmetric bivector field satisfying a generalized Codazzi equation. The geometry of such manifolds could be seen as a type of bridge between Poisson geometry and pseudo-Riemannian geometry, as has been highlighted in our previous article [\textit{Contravariant Pseudo-Hessian manifolds and their associated Poisson structures}. \rm{Differential Geometry and its Applications} (2020)]. Our objective here will be to pursue our study by focusing in this setting on submanifold…
On a compact complex manifold $(M, J)$ endowed with a holomorphic Poisson tensor $π_J$ and a deRham class $α\in H^2(M, \mathbb R)$, we study the space of generalized Kähler (GK) structures defined by a symplectic form $F\in α$ and whose holomorphic Poisson tensor is $π_J$. We define a notion of generalized Kähler class of such structures, and use the moment map framework of Boulanger and Goto to extend the Calabi program to GK geometry. We obtain generalizations of the Futaki--Mabuchi extremal vector field and Calabi--Lichnerowicz--Matsushima result for the Lie algebra of the group of automorp…
In this paper, we study the existence of global Yamabe flow on asymptotically flat (in short, AF or ALE) manifolds. Note that the ADM mass is preserved in dimensions 3,4 and 5. We present a new general local existence of Yamabe flow on a complete Riemannian manifold with the initial metric quasi-isometric to a background metric of bounded scalar curvature. Asymptotic behaviour of the Yamabe flow on ALE manifolds is also addressed provided the initial scalar curvature is non-negative and there is a bounded subsolution to the corresponding Poisson equation. We also present a maximum principle fo…
