We will introduce two notions of compatibility bettwen pseudo-Riemannian metric and Poisson structure using the notion of contravariant connection introduced by Fernandes R. L., we will study some proprities of manifold endowed with such compatible structures an we will give some examples.
We give a notion of compatibility between a Riemannian structure and a Jacobi structure. We prove that in case of fundamental examples of Jacobi structures : Poisson structures, contact structures and locally conformally symplectic structures, we get respectively Riemann-Poisson structures in the sense of M. Boucetta, 1/2-Kenmotsu structures and locally conformally Kahler structures.
In a preceding paper we introduced a notion of compatibility between a Jacobi structure and a Riemannian structure on a smooth manifold. We proved that in the case of fundamental examples of Jacobi structures : Poisson structures, contact structures and locally conformally symplectic structures, we get respectively Riemann-Poisson structures in the sense of M. Boucetta, (1/2)-Kenmotsu structures and locally conformally Kähler structures. In this paper we are generalizing this work to the framework of Lie algebroids.
We characterize the Dirac structures that are parallel with respect to Gualtieri's canonical connection of a generalized Riemannian metric. On the other hand, we discuss Dirac structures that are images of generalized tangent structures. These structures turn out to be Dirac structures that, if seen as Lie algebroids, have a symplectic structure. Particularly, if compatibility with a generalized Riemannian metric is required, the symplectic structure is of the Kaehler type.
We give necessary and sufficient conditions on a smooth local map of a Riemannian manifold $M^m$ into the sphere $S^m$ to be the Gauss map of an isometric immersion $u:M^m \to R^n$, $n=m+1$. We briefly discuss the case of general $n$ as well
In the literature different concepts of compatibility between a projective structure and a conformal structure on a differentiable manifold are used. In particular compatibility in the sense of Weyl geometry is slightly more general than compatibility in the Riemannian sense. An often cited paper [Ehlers-Pirani-Schild:1972] introduces still another criterion which is natural from the physical point of view: every light like geodesics of of the conformal structure is a geodesics of the projective structure. Their claim that this type of compatibility is sufficient for introducing a Weylian metr…
We give a notion of compatibility between a Riemannian metric and a Jacobi structure. We prove that in case of Poisson structures, contact structures and locally conformally symplectic structures, fundamental examples of Jacobi structures, we get respectively Riemann-Poisson structures in the sense of M. Boucetta, $\frac{1}{ 2}$-Kenmotsu structures and locally conformally Kähler structures.
We develop the formalism for noncommutative differential geometry and Riemmannian geometry to take full account of the *-algebra structure on the (possibly noncommutative) coordinate ring and the bimodule structure on the differential forms. We show that *-compatible bimodule connections lead to braid operators $σ$ in some generality (going beyond the quantum group case) and we develop their role in the exterior algebra. We study metrics in the form of Hermitian structures on Hilbert *-modules and metric compatibility in both the usual and a cotorsion form. We show that the theory works well f…
In this paper we prove the Poincaré lemma on some $n$-dimensional corank 1 sub-Riemannian structures, formulating the $\frac{(n-1)n(n^2+3n-2)}{8}$ necessarily and sufficiently 'curl-vanishing' compatibility conditions. In particular, this result solves partially an open problem formulated by Calin and Chang. Our proof is based on a Poincaré lemma stated on Riemannian manifolds and a suitable Cesàro-Volterra path integral formula established in local coordinates. As a byproduct, a Saint-Venant lemma is also provided on generic Riemannian manifolds. Some examples are presented on the hyperbolic …
We study noncommutative bundles and Riemannian geometry at the semiclassical level of first order in a deformation parameter $λ$, using a functorial approach. The data for quantisation of the cotangent bundle is known to be a Poisson structure and Poisson preconnection and we now show that this data defines to a functor $Q$ from the monoidal category of classical vector bundles equipped with connections to the monodial category of bimodules equipped with bimodule connections over the quantised algebra. We adapt this functor to quantise the wedge product of the exterior algebra and in the Riema…
The construction of gauge theories beyond the realm of Lie groups and algebras leads one to consider Lie groupoids and algebroids equipped with additional geometrical structures which, for gauge invariance of the construction, need to satisfy particular compatibility conditions. This paper analyzes these compatibilities from a mathematical perspective. In particular, we show that the compatibility of a connection with a Lie algebroid that one finds is the Cartan condition, introduced previously by A. Blaom. For the metric on the base M of a Lie algebroid equipped with any connection, we show t…
We make a study of Poisson structures of T*M which are graded structures when restricted to the fiberwise polynomial algebra, and give examples. A class of more general graded bivector fields which induce a given Poisson structure w on the base manifold M is constructed. In particular, the horizontal lifting of a Poisson structure from M to T*M via connections gives such bivector fields and we discuss the conditions for these lifts to be Poisson bivector fields and their compatibility with the canonical Poisson structure on T*M. Finally, for a 2-form on a Riemannian manifold, we study the cond…
We study Lie algebras endowed with an abelian complex structure which admit a symplectic form compatible with the complex structure. We prove that each of those Lie algebras is completely determined by a pair (U,H) where U is a complex commutative associative algebra and H is a sesquilinear hermitian form on U which verifies certain compatibility conditions with respect to the associative product on U. The Riemannian and Ricci curvatures of the associated pseudo-Kähler metric are studied and a characterization of those Lie algebras which are Einstein but not Ricci flat is given. It is seen tha…
We introduce the concept of ODD ('$\mathbf{O}$rthogonally $\mathbf{D}$egenerating on a $\mathbf{D}$ivisor') Riemannian metrics on real analytic manifolds $M$. These semipositive symmetric $2$-tensors may degenerate on a finite collection of submanifolds, while their restrictions to these submanifolds satisfy the inductive compatibility criterion to be an ODD metric again. In this first in a series of articles on these metrics, we show that they satisfy basic properties that hold for Riemannian metrics. For example, we introduce orthonormal frames, the lowering and raising of indices, ODD volum…
An AH (affine hypersurface) structure is a pair comprising a projective equivalence class of torsion-free connections and a conformal structure satisfying a compatibility condition which is automatic in two dimensions. They generalize Weyl structures, and a pair of AH structures is induced on a co-oriented non-degenerate immersed hypersurface in flat affine space. The author has defined for AH structures Einstein equations, which specialize on the one hand to the usual Einstein Weyl equations and, on the other hand, to the equations for affine hyperspheres. Here these equations are solved for …
Inspired by the Poisson Sigma Model and its relation to 2d gravity, we consider models governing morphisms from TSigma to any Lie algebroid E, where Sigma is regarded as d-dimensional spacetime manifold. We address the question of minimal conditions to be placed on a bilinear expression in the 1-form fields, S^ij(X) A_i A_j, so as to permit an interpretation as a metric on Sigma. This becomes a simple compatibility condition of the E-tensor S with the chosen Lie algebroid structure on E. For the standard Lie algebroid E=TM the additional structure is identified with a Riemannian foliation of M…
Noncommutatively deformed geometries, such as the noncommutative torus, do not exist generically. I showed in a previous paper that the existence of such a deformation implies compatibility conditions between the classical metric and the Poisson bivector (which characterizes the noncommutativity). Here I present another necessary condition: the vanishing of a certain rank 5 tensor. In the case of a compact Riemannian manifold, I use these conditions to prove that the Poisson bivector can be constructed locally from commuting Killing vectors.
In this paper, first we introduce the notion of a phase space of a 3-Lie algebra and show that a 3-Lie algebra has a phase space if and only if it is sub-adjacent to a 3-pre-Lie algebra. Then we introduce the notion of a product structure on a 3-Lie algebra using the Nijenhuis condition as the integrability condition. A 3-Lie algebra enjoys a product structure if and only if it is the direct sum (as vector spaces) of two subalgebras. We find that there are four types special integrability conditions, and each of them gives rise to a special decomposition of the original 3-Lie algebra. They are…
