The Zakharov system in dimension $d\leqslant 3$ is shown to be locally well-posed in Sobolev spaces $H^s \times H^l$, extending the previously known result. We construct new solution spaces by modifying the $X^{s,b}$ spaces, specifically by introducing temporal weights. We use contraction mapping principle to prove local well-posedness in the same. The result obtained is sharp up to endpoints.
A family of dispersive equations is considered which links a higher dimensional Benjamin-Ono equation and the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation. For these fractional Zakharov-Kuznetsov equations new well-posedness results are proved using transversality and localization of time to small frequency dependent time intervals.
The 1-dimensional Zakharov system is shown to have a unique global solution for data without finite energy. The proof uses the " I-method " introduced by Colliander, Keel, Staffilani, Takaoka, and Tao in connection with a refined bilinear Strichatz estimate.
We are interested in the long time asymptotic behavoir of solutions to the scalar Zakharov system \[ i u_{t} + Δu = nu,\] \[n_{tt} - Δn= Δ|u|^2\] and the Klein-Gordon Zakharov system \[ u_{tt} - Δu + u = - nu,\] \[ n_{tt} - Δn= Δ|u|^2\] in one dimension of space. For these two systems, we give two results proving decay of solutions for initial data in the energy space. The first result deals with decay over compact intervals asuming smallness and parity conditions ($u$ odd). The second result proves decay in far field regions along curves for solutions whose growth can be dominated by an incre…
The Cauchy Problem for the modified Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation in three space dimensions is shown to be locally well-posed in $H^s(\R^3)$ for $s > \frac12$. Combined with the conservation of mass and energy this result implies global well-posedness for small data in $H^1(\R^3)$.
We prove global existence and scattering for small localized solutions of the Cauchy problem for the Zakharov system in 3 space dimensions. The wave component is shown to decay pointwise at the optimal rate of t^{-1}, whereas the Schrödinger component decays almost at a rate of t^{-7/6}.
The Zakharov system in dimension $d=2,3$ is shown to have a local unique solution for any initial values in the energy space $H^{s} \times H^{l} \times H^{l-1}$, where the range of regularity $(s, l)$ is extended, especially at $s=l-1$. The result is obtained mainly by the normal form reduction and the Strichartz estimates.
The two-dimensional Zakharov system is shown to have a unique global solution for data without finite energy if the L^2 - norm of the Schrödinger part is small enough. The proof uses a refined I-method originally initiated by Colliander, Keel, Staffilani, Takaoka and Tao. A polynomial growth bound for the solution is also given.
We prove that the Cauchy problem associated to the Zakharov-Schulman system $iu_t+L_1u=uv$, $L_2v=L_3(|u|^2)$ is locally well-posed for given initial data in Sobolev spaces $H^s(R^n)$, $s\geq n/4$, for n =2,3. Here, L_j denote second order operators, with L_1 non-degenerate and L_2 elliptic.
The orbital instability of standing waves for the Klein-Gordon-Zakharov system has been established in two and three space dimensions under radially symmetric condition, see Ohta-Todorova (SIAM J. Math. Anal. 2007). In the one space dimensional case, for the non-degenerate situation, we first check that the Klein-Gordon-Zakharov system satisfies Grillakis-Shatah-Strauss' assumptions on the stability and instability theorems for abstract Hamiltonian systems, see Grillakis-Shatah-Strauss (J. Funct. Anal. 1987). As to the degenerate case that the frequency $|ω|=1/\sqrt{2}$, we follow Wu (ArXiv: 1…
The Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation in spatial dimension $d\geq 5$ is considered. The Cauchy problem is shown to be globally well-posed for small initial data in critical spaces and it is proved that solutions scatter to free solutions as $t \to \pm \infty$. The proof is based on i) novel endpoint non-isotropic Strichartz estimates which are derived from the $(d-1)$-dimensional Schrödinger equation, ii) transversal bilinear restriction estimates, and iii) an interpolation argument in critical function spaces. Under an additional radiality assumption, a similar result is obtained in dimension $d=4$…
We consider the final-state problem for the Zakharov system in the energy space in three space dimensions. For $(u_+, v_+) \in H^1 \times L^2$ without any size restriction, symmetry assumption or additional angular regularity, we perform a physical-space randomization on $u_+$ and an angular randomization on $v_+$ yielding random final states $(u_+^ω, v_+^ω)$. We obtain that for almost every $ω$, there is a unique solution of the Zakharov system scattering to the final state $(u_+^ω, v_+^ω)$. The key ingredient in the proof is the use of time-weighted norms and generalized Strichartz estimates…
The initial value problem of the Zakharov system on two dimensional torus with general period is shown to be locally well-posed in the Sobolev spaces of optimal regularity, including the energy space. Proof relies on a standard iteration argument using the Bourgain norms. The same strategy is also applicable to three and higher dimensional cases.
The Cauchy problem for a modified Zakharov system is proven to be locally well-posed for rough data in two and three space dimensions. In the three dimensional case the problem is globally well-posed for data with small energy. Under this assumption there also exists a global classical solution for sufficiently smooth data.
It is shown that the spatial Sobolev norms of regular global solutions of the (2+1),(3+1) and (4+1)-dimensional Klein-Gordon-Schroedinger system and the (2+1) and (3+1)-dimensional Zakharov system grow at most polynomially with the bound depending on the regularity class of the data. The proof uses the Fourier restriction norm method.
We consider the well-posedness of the initial value problem associated to the k-generalized Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation in fractional weighted Sobolev spaces. Our method of proof is based on the contraction mapping principle and it mainly relies on the well-posedness results recently obtained for this equation in the Sobolev spaces H^s(\R^2) and a new pointwise commutator type formula involving the group induced by the linear part of the equation and the fractional anisotropic weights to be considered
We show an improved global well-posedness result for the Zakharov system in two space dimensions with minimal regularity assumptions for the data. Especially we are able to allow Schroedinger and wave data, which do not belong to H^1 and L^2, respectively, thus with infinite energy. The proof uses a refined I-method originally initiated by Colliander, Keel, Staffilani, Takaoka and Tao and bilinear estimates by Bejenaru, Herr, Holmer and Tataru. A polynomial growth bound for the solution is also given.
We prove that the Cauchy problem for the two-dimensional Zakharov system is locally well-posed for initial data which are localized perturbations of a line solitary wave. Furthermore, for this Zakharov system, we prove weak convergence to a nonlinear Schrödinger equation.
We consider the Zakharov system in two space dimension with periodic boundary condition. We prove the existence of finite time blow-up solutions. Further, we show there exists no minimal mass blow-up solution.
We study the Cauchy problem of the Klein-Gordon-Zakharov system in spatial dimension $d \ge 5$ with initial datum $(u, \partial_t u, n, \partial_t n)|_{t=0} \in H^{s+1}(\mathbb{R}^d) \times H^s(\mathbb{R}^d) \times \dot{H}^s(\mathbb{R}^d) \times \dot{H}^{s-1}(\mathbb{R}^d)$. The critical value of $s$ is $s_c=d/2-2$. By $U^2, V^2$ type spaces, we prove that the small data global well-posedness and scattering hold at $s=s_c$ in $d \ge 5$.
This work is concerned with the Cauchy problem for a Zakharov system with initial data in Sobolev spaces $H^k(\mathbb R^d)\!\times\!H^l(\mathbb R^d)\!\times\!H^{l-1}\!(\mathbb R^d)$. We recall the well-posedness and ill-posedness results known to date and establish new ill-posedness results. We prove $C^2$ ill-posedness for some new indices $(k,l)\in\mathbb R^2$. Moreover, our results are valid in arbitrary dimension. We believe that our detailed proofs are built on a methodical approach and can be adapted to obtain similar results for other systems and equations.
The initial value problem for two-dimensional Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation on periodic boundary setting is shown to be locally well-posed in the cylinder for 9/10 < s < 1. We prove this theorem by using bilinear estimates thinking separetely the first variable and the second variable of space.
The Cauchy problem for the 1-dimensional Zakharov system is shown to be globally well-posed for large data which not necessarily have finite energy. The proof combines the local well-posedness result of Ginibre, Tsutsumi, Velo and a general method introduced by Bourgain to prove a similar result for nonlinear Schrödinger equations.
We study here the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation in dimension $2$ and $3$ and the modified Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation in dimension $2$. Those equations admit solitons, characterized by their velocity and their shift. Given the parameters of $K$ solitons $R^k$ (with distinct velocities), we prove the existence and uniqueness of a multi-soliton $u$ such that $\left\| u- \sum_{k=1}^K R^k \right\|_{H^1}\rightarrow 0 $ as $t \rightarrow +\infty$. The convergence takes place in $H^s$ with an exponential rate for all $s\geq 0$. The construction is made by successive approximations of the multi-soliton.…
We prove the local well-posedness of the three-dimensional Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation $\partial_tu+Δ\partial_xu+ u\partial_xu=0$ in the Sobolev spaces $H^s(\R^3)$, $s>1$, as well as in the Besov space $B^{1,1}_2(\R^3)$. The proof is based on a sharp maximal function estimate in time-weighted spaces.
We study in this article the stochastic Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation driven by a multiplicative noise. We establish, in space dimensions two and three the global existence of martingale solutions, and in space dimension two the global pathwise uniqueness and the existence of pathwise solutions. New methods are employed in the passage to the limit on a special type of boundary conditions and in the verification of the pathwise uniqueness of martingale solutions with a lack of regularity, where both difficulties arise due to the partly hyperbolic feature of the model.
Ginibre-Tsutsumi-Velo (1997) proved local well-posedness for the Zakharov system for any dimension $d$, in the inhomogeneous Sobolev spaces $(u,n)\in H^k(\mathbb{R}^d)\times H^s(\mathbb{R}^d)$ for a range of exponents $k$, $s$ depending on $d$. Here we restrict to dimension $d=1$ and present a few results establishing local ill-posedness for exponent pairs $(k,s)$ outside of the well-posedness regime. The techniques employed are rooted in the work of Bourgain (1993), Birnir-Kenig-Ponce-Svanstedt-Vega (1996), and Christ-Colliander-Tao (2003) applied to the nonlinear Schroedinger equation.
We study the Cauchy problem for the Zakharov system in spatial dimension $d\ge 4$ with initial datum $(u(0), n(0), \partial_t n(0)) \in H^k(\mathbb{R}^d) \times \dot{H}^l(\mathbb{R}^d)\times \dot{H}^{l-1}(\mathbb{R}^d)$. According to Ginibre, Tsutsumi and Velo, the critical exponent of $(k,l)$ is $((d-3)/2,(d-4)/2)$. We prove the scattering and the small data global well-posedness at the critical space. It seems difficult to get the crucial bilinear estimate only by applying the $U^2,\ V^2$ type spaces introduced by Koch-Tataru. To avoid the difficulty, we use an intersection space of $V^2$ ty…
The Cauchy problem for the classical Zakharov system is shown to be ill-posed in the sense of norm inflation in a range of Sobolev spaces $H^s(\mathbb{R}^d)\times H^l(\mathbb{R}^d)$ for all dimensions $d$. This proves several results on well-posedness, which includes existence of solutions, uniqueness and continuous dependence on the initial data, to be sharp up to endpoints.
The 1D Cauchy problem for the Zakharov system is shown to be locally well-posed for low regularity Schrödinger data u_0 \in \hat{H^{k,p}} and wave data (n_0,n_1) \in \hat{H^{l,p}} \times \hat{H^{l-1,p}} under certain assumptions on the parameters k,l and 1<p\le 2, where \|u_0\|_{\hat{H^{k,p}}} := \| < ξ>^k \hat{u_0}\|_{L^{p'}}, generalizing the results for p=2 by Ginibre, Tsutsumi, and Velo. Especially we are able to improve the results from the scaling point of view, and also allow suitable k<0, l<-1/2, i.e. data u_0 \not\in L^2 and (n_0,n_1)\not\in H^{-1/2}\times H^{-3/2}, which was excluded…
In this paper, we'll prove a L^2-concentration result of Zakharov system in space dimension two, with radial initial data (u_0,n_0,n_1)\in H^s\times L^2\times H^{-1} ({16/17}<s<1), when blow up of the solution happens by I-method. In additional to that we find a blow up character of this system. Furthermore, we improve the global existence result of Bourgain's to above spaces.
We study the Cauchy problem for the Klein-Gordon-Zakharov system in spatial dimension $d \ge 4$ with radial or non-radial initial datum $(u, \partial_t u, n, \partial_t n)|_{t=0}\in H^{s+1}(\mathbb{R}^d) \times H^s(\mathbb{R}^d) \times \dot{H}^s(\mathbb{R}^d) \times \dot{H}^{s-1}(\mathbb{R}^d)$. The critical value of $s$ is $s=s_c=d/2-2$. If the initial datum is radial, then we prove the small data global well-posedness and scattering at the critical space in $d \ge 4$ by applying the radial Strichartz estimates and $U^2, V^2$ type spaces. On the other hand, if the initial datum is non-radial,…
In this paper we study the initial-value problem associated with the Benjamin-Ono-Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation. Such equation appears as a two-dimensional generalization of the Benjamin-Ono equation when transverse effects are included via weak dispersion of Zakharov-Kuznetsov type. We prove that the initial-value problem is locally well-posed in the usual $L^2(\R^2)$-based Sobolev spaces $H^{s}(\R^2)$, $s>11/8$, and in some weighted Sobolev spaces. To obtain our results, most of the arguments are accomplished taking into account the ones for the Benjamin-Ono equation.
We show that the one-dimensional periodic Zakharov system is globally well-posed in a class of low-regularity Fourier-Lebesgue spaces. The result is obtained by combining the I-method with Bourgain's high-low decomposition method. As a corollary, we obtain probabilistic global existence results in $L^2$-based Sobolev spaces. We also obtain global well-posedness in $H^{\frac12+} \times L^2$, which is sharp (up to endpoints) in the class of $L^2$-based Sobolev spaces.
The Cauchy problem for the Zakharov system in four dimensions is considered. Some new well-posedness results are obtained. For small initial data, global well-posedness and scattering results are proved, including the case of initial data in the energy space. None of these results is restricted to radially symmetric data.
We are interested in the Klein-Gordon-Zakharov system in $\mathbb{R}^{1+2}$, which is an important model in plasma physics with extensive mathematical studies. The system can be regarded as semilinear coupled wave and Klein-Gordon equations with nonlinearities violating the null conditions. Without the compactness assumptions on the initial data, we aim to establish the existence of small global solutions, and in addition, we want to illustrate the optimal pointwise decay of the solutions. Furthermore, we show that the Klein-Gordon part of the system enjoys linear scattering while the wave par…
We prove local well-posedness for the $L^2$ critical generalized Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation in $H^s, \, s \in (3/4,1).$ We also prove that the equation is "almost well-posedness" for initial data $u_0 \in H^s, \, s \in [1,2),$ in the sense that the solution belongs to a certain intersection $C([0,T] : H^s(\mathbb{R}^3)) \cap X^s_T$ and is unique within that class, where we can ensure continuity of the data-to-solution map in an only slightly larger space. We also prove that solutions satisfy the expected conservation of $L^2-$mass for the whole $s \in (3/4,2)$ range, and energy for $s \in (1,…
We study decay properties for solutions to the initial value problem associated with the one-dimensional Zakharov-Rubenchik/Benney-Roskes system. We prove time-integrability in growing compact intervals of size $t^{r}$, $r<2/3$, centered on some characteristic curves coming from the underlying transport equations associated with the ZR/BR system. Additionally, we prove decay to zero of the local energy-norm in so-called far-field regions. Our results are independent of the size of the initial data and do not require any parity condition.
In this paper we consider the Zakharov system with periodic boundary conditions in dimension one. In the first part of the paper, it is shown that for fixed initial data in a Sobolev space, the difference of the nonlinear and the linear evolution is in a smoother space for all times the solution exists. The smoothing index depends on a parameter distinguishing the resonant and nonresonant cases. As a corollary, we obtain polynomial-in-time bounds for the Sobolev norms with regularity above the energy level. In the second part of the paper, we consider the forced and damped Zakharov system and …
In this work we consider the initial value problem (IVP) associated to the two dimensional Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation $$\left. \begin{array}{rl} u_t+\partial_x^3 u+\partial_x \partial_y^2 u +u \partial_x u &\hspace{-2mm}=0,\qquad\qquad (x,y)\in\mathbb R^2,\; t\in\mathbb R,\\ u(x,y,0)&\hspace{-2mm}=u_0(x,y). \end{array} \right\}$$ We study the well-posedness of the IVP in the weighted Sobolev spaces $$H^s(\mathbb R^2) \cap L^2((1+x^2+y^2)^{r} dx dy),$$ with $s,r\in\mathbb R$.
We prove the local well-posedness for the two-dimensional Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation in $H^s(\mathbb{R}^2)$, for $s\in [1,2]$, on the background of an $L^\infty(\mathbb{R}^3)$-function $Ψ(t,x,y)$, with $Ψ(t,x,y)$ satisfying some natural extra conditions. This result not only gives us a framework to solve the ZK equation around a Kink, for example, but also around a periodic solution, that is, to consider localized non-periodic perturbations of periodic solutions. Additionally, we show the global well-posedness in the energy space $H^1(\mathbb{R}^2)$.
We consider the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation (ZK) in space dimension 2. Solutions u with initial data u\_0 $\in$ H s are known to be global if s $\ge$ 1. We prove that for any integer s $\ge$ 2, u(t) H s grows at most polynomially in t for large times t. This result is related to wave turbulence and how a solution of (ZK) can move energy to high frequencies. It is inspired by analoguous results by Staffilani on the non linear Schr{ö}dinger Korteweg-de-Vries equation. The main ingredients are adequate bilinear estimates in the context of Bourgain's spaces.
We prove local in time well-posedness for the Zakharov system in two space dimensions with large initial data in L^2 x H^{-1/2} x H^{-3/2}. This is the space of optimal regularity in the sense that the data-to-solution map fails to be smooth at the origin for any rougher pair of spaces in the L^2-based Sobolev scale. Moreover, it is a natural space for the Cauchy problem in view of the subsonic limit equation, namely the focusing cubic nonlinear Schroedinger equation. The existence time we obtain depends only upon the corresponding norms of the initial data - a result which is false for the cu…
We consider the generalized two-dimensional Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation $u_t+\partial_x Δu+\partial_x(u^{k+1})=0$, where $k\geq3$ is an integer number. For $k\geq8$ we prove local well-posedness in the $L^2$-based Sobolev spaces $H^s(\mathbb{R}^2)$, where $s$ is greater than the critical scaling index $s_k=1-2/k$. For $k\geq 3$ we also establish a sharp criteria to obtain global $H^1(\R^2)$ solutions. A nonlinear scattering result in $H^1(\R^2)$ is also established assuming the initial data is small and belongs to a suitable Lebesgue space.
We prove a high-dimensional version of the Strichartz estimates for the unitary group associated to the free Zakharov--Kuznetsov equation. As a by--product, we deduce maximal estimates which allow us to prove local well-posedness for the generalized Zakharov--Kuznetsov equation in the whole subcritical case whenever $d \ge 4, k \ge 4,$ complementing the recent results of Kinoshita and Herr--Kinoshita. Finally, we use some of those maximal estimates in order to prove pointwise convergence results for the flow of the generalized Zakharov--Kuznetsov equation in any dimension, in the same spirit o…
We consider here the local existence of strong solutions for the Zakharov-Kuznestov (ZK) equation posed in a limited domain (0,1)_{x}\times(-pi /2, pi /2)^d, d=1,2. We prove that in space dimensions 2 and 3, there exists a strong solution on a short time interval, whose length only depends on the given data. We use the parabolic regularization of the ZK equation to derive the global and local bounds independent of epsilon for various norms of the solution. In particular, we derive the local bound of the nonlinear term by a singular perturbation argument. Then we can pass to the limit and hence…
