In this paper, we'll prove a L^2-concentration result of Zakharov system in space dimension two, with radial initial data (u_0,n_0,n_1)\in H^s\times L^2\times H^{-1} ({16/17}<s<1), when blow up of the solution happens by I-method. In additional to that we find a blow up character of this system. Furthermore, we improve the global existence result of Bourgain's to above spaces.
We consider the focusing modified Zakharov-Kuznetsov (mZK) equation in two space dimensions. We prove that solutions which blow up in finite time in the $H^1(\R^{2})$ norm have the property that they concentrate a non-trivial portion of their mass (more precisely, at least the amount equal to the mass of the ground state) at blow-up time. For finite-time blow-up solutions in the $H^s(\R^2)$ norm for $\frac{17}{18} < s < 1$, we prove a slightly weaker result. Moreover, we prove that the stronger concentration result can be extended to the range $ \frac{17}{18} < s \le 1$ under an additional ass…
The Cauchy problem for the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation is shown to be locally well-posed in H^s(R^2) for all s>1/2 by using the Fourier restriction norm method and bilinear refinements of Strichartz type inequalities.
The Cauchy problem for the classical Zakharov system is shown to be ill-posed in the sense of norm inflation in a range of Sobolev spaces $H^s(\mathbb{R}^d)\times H^l(\mathbb{R}^d)$ for all dimensions $d$. This proves several results on well-posedness, which includes existence of solutions, uniqueness and continuous dependence on the initial data, to be sharp up to endpoints.
We consider the Zakharov system in the energy critical dimension $d=4$ with energy below the ground state. It is known that below the ground state solutions exist globally in time, and scatter in the radial case. Scattering below the ground state in the non-radial case is an open question. We show that if scattering fails, then there exists a minimal energy non-scattering solution below the ground state. Moreover the orbit of this solution is precompact modulo translations. The proof follows by a concentration compactness argument, together with a refined small data theory for energy dispersed…
It is shown that the spatial Sobolev norms of regular global solutions of the (2+1),(3+1) and (4+1)-dimensional Klein-Gordon-Schroedinger system and the (2+1) and (3+1)-dimensional Zakharov system grow at most polynomially with the bound depending on the regularity class of the data. The proof uses the Fourier restriction norm method.
An initial-boundary value problem for the 2D Zakharov-Kuznetsov-Burgers equation posed on a channel-type strip was considered. The existence and uniqueness results for regular and weak solutions in weighted spaces as well as exponential decay of small solutions without restrictions on the width of a strip were proven both for regular solutions in an elevated norm and for weak solutions in the $L^2$-norm.
We consider the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation (ZK) in space dimension 2. Solutions u with initial data u\_0 $\in$ H s are known to be global if s $\ge$ 1. We prove that for any integer s $\ge$ 2, u(t) H s grows at most polynomially in t for large times t. This result is related to wave turbulence and how a solution of (ZK) can move energy to high frequencies. It is inspired by analoguous results by Staffilani on the non linear Schr{ö}dinger Korteweg-de-Vries equation. The main ingredients are adequate bilinear estimates in the context of Bourgain's spaces.
We prove small energy scattering for the 3D Klein-Gordon-Zakharov system with radial symmetry. The idea of proof is the same as the Zakharov system studied in \cite{GN}, namely to combine the normal form reduction and the radial-improved Strichartz estimates

We prove small energy scattering for the 3D Zakharov system with radial symmetry. The main ingredients are normal form reduction and the radial-improved Strichartz estimates.
The initial value problem of the Zakharov system on two dimensional torus with general period is shown to be locally well-posed in the Sobolev spaces of optimal regularity, including the energy space. Proof relies on a standard iteration argument using the Bourgain norms. The same strategy is also applicable to three and higher dimensional cases.
The Zakharov system in dimension $d=2,3$ is shown to have a local unique solution for any initial values in the energy space $H^{s} \times H^{l} \times H^{l-1}$, where the range of regularity $(s, l)$ is extended, especially at $s=l-1$. The result is obtained mainly by the normal form reduction and the Strichartz estimates.
Spatial regularity properties of certain global-in-time solutions of the Zakharov system are established. In particular, the evolving solution $u(t)$ is shown to satisfy an estimate $\Hsup s {u(t)} \leq C {{|t|}^{(s-1)+}}$, where $H^s$ is the standard spatial Sobolev norm. The proof is an adaptation of earlier work on the nonlinear Schrödinger equation which reduces matters to bilinear estimates.
We study here the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation in dimension $2$ and $3$ and the modified Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation in dimension $2$. Those equations admit solitons, characterized by their velocity and their shift. Given the parameters of $K$ solitons $R^k$ (with distinct velocities), we prove the existence and uniqueness of a multi-soliton $u$ such that $\left\| u- \sum_{k=1}^K R^k \right\|_{H^1}\rightarrow 0 $ as $t \rightarrow +\infty$. The convergence takes place in $H^s$ with an exponential rate for all $s\geq 0$. The construction is made by successive approximations of the multi-soliton.…
The two-dimensional Zakharov system is shown to have a unique global solution for data without finite energy if the L^2 - norm of the Schrödinger part is small enough. The proof uses a refined I-method originally initiated by Colliander, Keel, Staffilani, Takaoka and Tao. A polynomial growth bound for the solution is also given.
We study decay properties for solutions to the initial value problem associated with the one-dimensional Zakharov-Rubenchik/Benney-Roskes system. We prove time-integrability in growing compact intervals of size $t^{r}$, $r<2/3$, centered on some characteristic curves coming from the underlying transport equations associated with the ZR/BR system. Additionally, we prove decay to zero of the local energy-norm in so-called far-field regions. Our results are independent of the size of the initial data and do not require any parity condition.
We consider the final-state problem for the Zakharov system in the energy space in three space dimensions. For $(u_+, v_+) \in H^1 \times L^2$ without any size restriction, symmetry assumption or additional angular regularity, we perform a physical-space randomization on $u_+$ and an angular randomization on $v_+$ yielding random final states $(u_+^ω, v_+^ω)$. We obtain that for almost every $ω$, there is a unique solution of the Zakharov system scattering to the final state $(u_+^ω, v_+^ω)$. The key ingredient in the proof is the use of time-weighted norms and generalized Strichartz estimates…
We prove low-regularity global well-posedness for the 1d Zakharov system and 3d Klein-Gordon-Schrödinger system, which are systems in two variables $u:\mathbb{R}_x^d\times \mathbb{R}_t \to \mathbb{C}$ and $n:\mathbb{R}^d_x\times \mathbb{R}_t\to \mathbb{R}$. The Zakharov system is known to be locally well-posed in $(u,n)\in L^2\times H^{-1/2}$ and the Klein-Gordon-Schrödinger system is known to be locally well-posed in $(u,n)\in L^2\times L^2$. Here, we show that the Zakharov and Klein-Gordon-Schrödinger systems are globally well-posed in these spaces, respectively, by using an available conser…
In this paper we consider the Zakharov system with periodic boundary conditions in dimension one. In the first part of the paper, it is shown that for fixed initial data in a Sobolev space, the difference of the nonlinear and the linear evolution is in a smoother space for all times the solution exists. The smoothing index depends on a parameter distinguishing the resonant and nonresonant cases. As a corollary, we obtain polynomial-in-time bounds for the Sobolev norms with regularity above the energy level. In the second part of the paper, we consider the forced and damped Zakharov system and …
We consider here the local existence of strong solutions for the Zakharov-Kuznestov (ZK) equation posed in a limited domain (0,1)_{x}\times(-pi /2, pi /2)^d, d=1,2. We prove that in space dimensions 2 and 3, there exists a strong solution on a short time interval, whose length only depends on the given data. We use the parabolic regularization of the ZK equation to derive the global and local bounds independent of epsilon for various norms of the solution. In particular, we derive the local bound of the nonlinear term by a singular perturbation argument. Then we can pass to the limit and hence…
The present paper is devoted to the study of the well-posedness and the lower bound of blow-up rate to the Cauchy problem of the generalized Zakharov(GZ) equations with magnetic field in R^d. The work of well-posedness of the GZ system bases on the local well-posedness theory in [9]. At first, the existence, uniqueness and continuity of solution to the GZ system with magnetic field in Rd is proved. Next, we establish the lower bound of blow-up rate of blow-up solution in sobolev spaces to the GZ system, which is almost a critical index. Finally, we obtain the long time behavior of global solut…
We show that the initial value problem associated to the dispersive generalized Benjamin-Ono-Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation$$ u\_t-D\_x^αu\_{x} + u\_{xyy} = uu\_x,\quad (t,x,y)\in\R^3,\quad 1\le α\le 2,$$is locally well-posed in the spaces $E^s$, $s\textgreater{}\frac 2α-\frac 34$, endowed with the norm$\|f\|\_{E^s} = \|\langle |ξ|^α+μ^2\rangle^s\hat{f}\|\_{L^2(\R^2)}.$As a consequence, we get the global well-posedness in the energy space $E^{1/2}$ as soon as $α\textgreater{}\frac 85$. The proof is based on the approach of the short time Bourgain spaces developed by Ionescu, Kenig and Tataru \cit…
We consider the scalar Zakharov system in $\R^3$ for initial conditions $(ψ(0), n(0), n_t(0)) \in H^{\ell+1/2} \times H^\ell \times H^{\ell-1} $, $0\leq\ell \leq 1$. Assuming that the solution blows up in a finite time $t^* < \infty$, we establish a lower bound for the rate of blow-up of the corresponding Sobolev norms in the form $$ \|ψ(t)\|_{H^{\ell+1/2}} +\|n(t)\|_{H^{\ell}} + \|n_t(t)\|_{H^{\ell-1}} > C(t^*-t)^{-θ_\ell} $$ with $θ_\ell = \frac{1}{4}(1+ 2 \ell)^-$. The analysis is a reappraisal of the local wellposedness theory of Ginibre, Tsutsumi and Velo (1997) combined with an argument …
We prove local in time well-posedness for the Zakharov system in two space dimensions with large initial data in L^2 x H^{-1/2} x H^{-3/2}. This is the space of optimal regularity in the sense that the data-to-solution map fails to be smooth at the origin for any rougher pair of spaces in the L^2-based Sobolev scale. Moreover, it is a natural space for the Cauchy problem in view of the subsonic limit equation, namely the focusing cubic nonlinear Schroedinger equation. The existence time we obtain depends only upon the corresponding norms of the initial data - a result which is false for the cu…
We consider the inhomogeneous nonlinear Schrödiger equation (INLS) in $\mathbb{R}^N$ $$i \partial u_t + Δu + |x|^{-b} |u|^{2σ}u = 0,$$ and show the $L^2$-norm concentration for the finite time blow-up solutions in the $L^2$-critical case, $σ=\frac{2-b}{N}$. Moreover, we provide an alternative for the classification of minimal mass blow-up solutions first proved by Genoud and Combet [4]. For the case $\frac{2-b}{N} < σ< \frac{2-b}{N-2}$, we show results regarding the $L^p$-critical norm concentration, generalizing the argument of Holmer and Roudenko [16] to the INLS setting.
We consider the inhomogeneous biharmonic nonlinear Schrödinger (IBNLS) equation in $\mathbb{R}^N$, $$i \partial_t u +Δ^2 u -|x|^{-b} |u|^{2σ}u = 0,$$ where $σ>0$ and $b>0$. We first study the local well-posedness in $\dot H^{s_c}\cap \dot H^2 $, for $N\geq 5$ and $0<s_c<2$, where $s_c=\frac{N}{2}-\frac{4-b}{2σ}$. Next, we established a Gagliardo-Nirenberg type inequality in order to obtain sufficient conditions for global existence of solutions in $\dot H^{s_c}\cap \dot H^2$ with $0\leq s_c<2$. Finally, we study the phenomenon of $L^{σ_c}$-norm concentration for finite time blow up solutions w…
This paper is concerned with two dual aspects of the regularity question of the Navier-Stokes equations. First, we prove a local in time localized smoothing effect for local energy solutions. More precisely, if the initial data restricted to the unit ball belongs to the scale-critical space $L^3$, then the solution is locally smooth in space for some short time, which is quantified. This builds upon the work of Jia and Šverák, who considered the subcritical case. Second, we apply these localized smoothing estimates to prove a concentration phenomenon near a possible Type I blow-up. Namely, we …
We observe a link between the window size of mass concentration and the rate of explosion of the Strichartz norm by revisiting Bourgain's mass concentration for the L^2-critical nonlinear Schrodinger equations.
We consider in this article the system of gravity-capillary waves in all dimensions and under the Zakharov/Craig-Sulem formulation. Using a paradifferential approach introduced by Alazard-Burq-Zuily, we symmetrize this system into a quasilinear dispersive equation whose principal part is of order $3/2$. The main novelty, compared to earlier studies, is that this reduction is performed at the Sobolev regularity of quasilinear pdes: $H^s(R^d)$ with $s\textgreater{}3/2+d/2$, $d$ being the dimension of the free surface. From this reduction, we deduce a blow-up criterion involving solely the Lipsch…
A multi-scale characterization of the field concentrations inside composite and polycrystalline media is developed. The analysis focuses on gradient fields associated with the intensive quantities given by the temperature and the electric potential. In the linear regime these quantities are modeled by the solution of a second order elliptic partial differential equation with oscillatory coefficients. Field concentrations are measured using the $L^p$ norm of the gradient of the solution for p>2. The analysis focuses on the case when the length scale of the heterogeneities are small relative to …
We exclude Type I blow-up, which occurs in the form of atomic concentrations of the $L^2$ norm for the solution of the 3D incompressible Euler equations. As a corollary we prove nonexistence of discretely self-similar blow-up in the energy conserving scale.
- In this article, we prove some universal bounds on the speed of concentration on small (frequency-dependent) neighborhoods of submanifolds of L 2-norms of quasi modes for Laplace operators on compact manifolds. We deduce new results on the rate of decay of weakly damped wave equations. R{é}sum{é}.
We consider singularities of the focusing subconformal nonlinear wave equation and some generalizations of it. At noncharacteristic points on the singularity surface, Merle and Zaag have identified the rate of blow-up of the $H^1$-norm of the solution inside cones that terminate at the singularity. We derive bounds that restrict how this $H^1$-energy can be distributed inside such cones. Our proof relies on new localized estimates obtained using Carleman- type inequalities for such nonlinear waves. These bound the $L^{p+1}$-norm in the interior of timelike cones by their $H^1$-norm near the bo…
We consider the drift-diffusion equation $u_t-εΔu + \nabla \cdot(u\nabla K^*u)=0$ in the whole space with global-in-time solutions bounded in all Sobolev spaces; for simplicity, we restrict ourselves to the model case $K(x)=-|x|$. We quantify the mass concentration phenomenon, a genuinely nonlinear effect, for radially symmetric solutions of this equation for small diffusivity $ε$ studied in our previous paper [3], obtaining optimal sharp upper and lower bounds for Sobolev norms.
We survey recent results related to the concentration of eigenfunctions. We also prove some new results concerning ball-concentration, as well as showing that eigenfunctions saturating lower bounds for $L^1$-norms must also, in a measure theoretical sense, have extreme concentration near a geodesic.
