We observe a link between the window size of mass concentration and the rate of explosion of the Strichartz norm by revisiting Bourgain's mass concentration for the L^2-critical nonlinear Schrodinger equations.
In this paper we use a concentration and compactness argument to prove the existence of a nontrivial nonradial solution to the nonlinear Schrodinger-Poisson equations in R3, assuming on the nonlinearity the general hypotheses introduced by Berestycki & Lions
This paper studies the concentration phenomena to nonlinear Schrodinger equations with magnetic potentials and constant electric potentials. We find that the magnetic field plays an important role in the location of concentrations if the electric potential is constant. This is a completely new result compared with the case of non-constant electric potentials.
We prove unique continuation properties for solutions of the evolution Schrödinger equation with time dependent potentials. As an application of our method we also obtain results concerning the possible concentration profiles of blow up solutions and the possible profiles of the traveling waves solutions of semi-linear Schrödinger equations.
The present paper is devoted to weighted Nonlinear Schrödinger- Poisson systems with potentials possibly unbounded and vanishing at infinity. Using a purely variational approach, we prove the existence of solutions concentrating on a circle.
For a nonlinear Schrödinger system with mass critical exponent, we prove the existence and orbital stability of standing-wave solutions obtained as minimizers of the underlying energy functional restricted to a double mass constraint. In addition, we discuss the concentration of a sequence of minimizers as their masses approach to certain critical masses.
We consider some nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equations with magnetic field and involving continuous nonlinearities having subcritical, critical or supercritical growth. Under a local condition on the potential, we use minimax methods to investigate the existence and concentration of nontrivial weak solutions.
We consider a class of parametric Schrödinger equations driven by the fractional $p$-Laplacian operator and involving continuous positive potentials and nonlinearities with subcritical or critical growth. By using variational methods and Ljusternik-Schnirelmann theory, we study the existence, multiplicity and concentration of positive solutions for small values of the parameter.
We consider the mass concentration phenomenon for the $L^2$-critical nonlinear Schrödinger equations of higher orders. We show that any solution $u$ to $iu_{t} + (-Δ)^{\fracα2} u =\pm |u|^\frac{2α}{d}u$, $u(0,\cdot)\in L^2$ for $α>2$, which blows up in a finite time, satisfies a mass concentration phenomenon near the blow-up time. We verify that as $α$ increases, the size of region capturing a mass concentration gets wider due to the stronger dispersive effect.
In this article we study the existence and concentration behavior of bound states for a nonlinear Schrödinger-Poisson system with a parameter $\varepsilon>0$. Under some suitable conditions on the potential functions, we prove that for $\varepsilon$ small the system has a positive solution that concentrates at a point which is a global minimum of the minimax function associated to the related autonomous problem.
One of important problems in mathematical physics concerns derivation of point dynamics from field equations. The most common approach to this problem is based on WKB method. Here we describe a different method based on the concept of trajectory of concentration. When we applied this method to nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation, we derived relativistic Newton's law and Einstein's formula for inertial mass. Here we apply the same approach to nonlinear Schrodinger equation and derive non-relativistic Newton's law for the trajectory of concentration.
We consider here solutions of the nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equation $$ε^{2s}(-Δ)^s u+V(x)u=u^p.$$ We show that concentration points must be critical points for $V$. We also prove that, if the potential $V$ is coercive and has a unique global minimum, then ground states concentrate suitably at such minimal point as $ε$ tends to zero. In addition, if the potential $V$ is radial, then the minimizer is unique provided $ε$ is small.
We are concerned with the following Schrödinger-Newton problem \begin{equation} -\varepsilon^2Δu+V(x)u=\frac{1}{8π\varepsilon^2} \big(\int_{\mathbb R^3}\frac{u^2(ξ)}{|x-ξ|}dξ\big)u,~x\in \mathbb R^3. \end{equation} For $\varepsilon$ small enough, we show the uniqueness of positive solutions concentrating at the nondegenerate critical points of $V(x)$. The main tools are a local Pohozaev type of identity, blow-up analysis and the maximum principle. Our results also show that the asymptotic behavior of concentrated points to Schrödinger-Newton problem is quite different from those of Schrödinger…
In this article we are concerned with the following logarithmic Schrödinger equation $$ \left\{ \begin{array}{lc} -ε^2Δu+ V(x)u=u \log u^2, & \mbox{in} \,\, \mathbb{R}^{N}, \\ %u(x)>0, & \mbox{in} \quad \mathbb{R}^{N} \\ u \in H^1(\mathbb{R}^{N}), & \; \\ \end{array} \right. $$ where $ε>0, N \geq 1$ and $V:\mathbb{R}^{N}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a continuous potential. Under a local assumption on the potential $V$, we use the variational methods to prove the existence and concentration of positive solutions for the above problem.
We study the following singularly perturbed nonlocal Schrödinger equation $$ -\vr^2Δu +V(x)u =\vr^{μ-2}\Big[\frac{1}{|x|^μ}\ast F(u)\Big]f(u) \quad \mbox{in} \quad \R^2, $$ where $V(x)$ is a continuous real function on $\R^2$, $F(s)$ is the primitive of $f(s)$, $0<μ<2$ and $\vr$ is a positive parameter. Assuming that the nonlinearity $f(s)$ has critical exponential growth in the sense of Trudinger-Moser, we establish the existence and concentration of solutions by variational methods.
We prove the equivalence between the smoothing effect for a Schrödinger operator and the decay of the associate spectral projectors. We give two applications to the Schrödinger operator in dimension one.
In this paper we study the following nonlinear Schrödinger equation with magnetic field \[ \Big(\frac{\varepsilon}{i}\nabla-A(x)\Big)^{2}u+V(x)u=f(| u|^{2})u,\quad x\in\mathbb{R}^{2}, \] where $\varepsilon>0$ is a parameter, $V:\mathbb{R}^{2}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ and $A: \mathbb{R}^{2}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^{2}$ are continuous potentials and $f:\mathbb{R}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ has exponential critical growth. Under a local assumption on the potential $V$, by variational methods, penalization technique, and Ljusternick-Schnirelmann theory, we prove multiplicity and concentration of solutions…
This article concerns the fractional elliptic equations \begin{equation*}(-Δ)^{s}u+λV(x)u=f(u), \quad u\in H^{s}(\mathbb{R}^N), \end{equation*}where $(-Δ)^{s}$ ($s\in (0\,,\,1)$) denotes the fractional Laplacian, $λ>0$ is a parameter, $V\in C(\mathbb{R}^N)$ and $V^{-1}(0)$ has nonempty interior. Under some mild assumptions, we establish the existence of nontrivial solutions. Moreover, the concentration of solutions is also explored on the set $V^{-1}(0)$ as $λ\to\infty$.
We consider the inhomogeneous nonlinear Schrödiger equation (INLS) in $\mathbb{R}^N$ $$i \partial u_t + Δu + |x|^{-b} |u|^{2σ}u = 0,$$ and show the $L^2$-norm concentration for the finite time blow-up solutions in the $L^2$-critical case, $σ=\frac{2-b}{N}$. Moreover, we provide an alternative for the classification of minimal mass blow-up solutions first proved by Genoud and Combet [4]. For the case $\frac{2-b}{N} < σ< \frac{2-b}{N-2}$, we show results regarding the $L^p$-critical norm concentration, generalizing the argument of Holmer and Roudenko [16] to the INLS setting.
This paper is motivated by a gauged Schrodinger equation in dimension 2 including the so-called Chern-Simons term. The radially symmetric case leads to an elliptic problem with a nonlocal defocusing term, in competition with a local focusing nonlinearity. In this work we pose the equations in a ball under homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. By using singular perturbation arguments we prove existence of solutions for large values of the radius. Those solutions are located close to the boundary and the limit profile is given.
In this paper, we study the following semilinear Schrödinger equation $$ -ε^2\triangle u+ u+ V(x)u=f(u),\ u\in H^{1}(\mathbb{R}^{N}), $$ where $N\geq 2$ and $ε>0$ is a small parameter. The function $V$ is bounded in $\mathbb{R}^N$, $\inf_{\mathbb{R}^N}(1+V(x))>0$ and it has a possibly degenerate isolated critical point. Under some conditions on $f,$ we prove that as $ε\rightarrow 0,$ this equation has a solution which concentrates at the critical point of $V$.}
In this paper, we study the following nonlinear Schrödinger-Poisson type equation \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} -\varepsilon^2Δu+V(x)u+K(x)ϕu=f(u)&\text{in}\ \mathbb{R}^3,\\ -\varepsilon^2Δϕ=K(x)u^2&\text{in}\ \mathbb{R}^3, \end{cases} \end{equation*} where $\varepsilon>0$ is a small parameter, $V: \mathbb{R}^3\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a continuous potential and $K: \mathbb{R}^3\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is used to describe the electron charge. Under suitable assumptions on $V(x), K(x)$ and $f$, we prove existence and concentration properties of ground state solutions for $\varepsilon>0$ small…
In this paper, we study the following fractional Schrödinger-Poisson system \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} \varepsilon^{2s}(-Δ)^su+V(x)u+ϕu=g(u) & \hbox{in $\mathbb{R}^3$,} \varepsilon^{2t}(-Δ)^tϕ=u^2,\,\, u>0& \hbox{in $\mathbb{R}^3$,} \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} where $s,t\in(0,1)$, $\varepsilon>0$ is a small parameter. Under some local assumptions on $V(x)$ and suitable assumptions on the nonlinearity $g$, we construct a family of positive solutions $u_{\varepsilon}\in H_{\varepsilon}$ which concentrates around the global minima of $V(x)$ as $\varepsilon\rightarrow0$.
In this paper, we deal with the existence and concentration of normalized solutions to the supercritical nonlinear Schrödinger equation \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{array}{l} -Δu + V(x) u = μ_q u + a|u|^q u \quad {\rm in}\quad \mathbb{R}^2,\\ \int_{\mathbb{R}^2}|u|^2\,dx =1,\\ \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} where $μ_q$ is the Lagrange multiplier. We show that for $q>2$ close to $2$, the equation admits two solutions: one is the local minimal solution $u_q$ and another one is the mountain pass solution $v_q$. Furthermore, we study the limiting behavior of $u_q$ and $v_q$ when $q\to 2_+…
The aim of this paper is to study a concentration-compactness principle for inhomogeneous fractional Sobolev space $H^s (\mathbb{R}^N)$ for $0<s\leq N/2.$ As an application we establish Palais-Smale compactness for the Lagrangian associated to the fractional Schrödinger equation $(-Δ)^{s} u + a(x)u= f(x,u)$ for $0<s<1.$ Moreover, we prove the existence of nontrivial nonnegative solutions to this class of elliptic equations for a wide class of possible singular potentials $a(x)$; not necessarily bounded away from zero. We consider possible oscillatory nonlinearities and that may not satisfy the…
In this paper, we study the existence and concentration phenomena of solutions for the following non-local regional Schrödinger equation $$ \left\{ \begin{array}{l} ε^{2α}(-Δ)_ρ^α u + Q(x)u = K(x)|u|^{p-1}u,\;\;\mbox{in}\;\; \mathbb{R}^n,\\ u\in H^α(\mathbb{R}^n) \end{array} \right. $$ where $ε$ is a positive parameter, $0< α< 1$, $1<p<\frac{n+2α}{n-2α}$, $n>2α$; $(-Δ)_ρ^α$ is a variational version of the regional fractional Laplacian, whose range of scope is a ball with radius $ρ(x)>0$, $ρ, Q, K$ are competing functions. We study the existence of ground state and we analyze the behavior of se…
We study a variational problem for the first Schrodinger eigenvalue on closed Riemannian surfaces. More precisely, we explore concentration-compactness properties of sequences formed by its extremal potentials.
We consider ground states of $L^2$-subcritical nonlinear Schrödinger equation (1.1), which can be described equivalently by minimizers of the following constraint minimization problem $$ e(ρ):=\inf\{E_ρ(u):u\in \mathcal{H}(\mathbb{R}^d),\|u\|_2^2=1\}.$$ The energy functional $E_ρ(u)$ is defined by $$ E_ρ(u):=\frac{1}{2}\int_{\mathbb{R}^d}|\nabla u|^2dx +\frac{1}{2}\int_{\mathbb{R}^d}V(x)|u|^2dx-\frac{ρ^{p-1}}{p+1}\int_{\mathbb{R}^d}|u|^{p+1}dx,$$ where $d\geq1$, $ρ>0$, $p\in\big(1, 1+\frac{4}{d}\big)$ and $0\leq V(x)\to\infty$ as $|x| \to\infty$. We present a detailed analysis on the concentra…
This paper is devoted to the study of fractional Schrödinger-Poisson type equations with magnetic field of the type \begin{equation*} \varepsilon^{2s}(-Δ)_{A/\varepsilon}^{s}u+V(x)u+\varepsilon^{-2t}(|x|^{2t-3}*|u|^{2})u=f(|u|^{2})u \quad \mbox{ in } \mathbb{R}^{3}, \end{equation*} where $\varepsilon>0$ is a parameter, $s,t\in (0, 1)$ are such that $2s+2t>3$, $A:\mathbb{R}^{3}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^{3}$ is a smooth magnetic potential, $(-Δ)^{s}_{A}$ is the fractional magnetic Laplacian, $V:\mathbb{R}^{3}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a continuous electric potential and $f:\mathbb{R}\rightarrow \ma…
We show that the knowledge of the Dirichlet--to--Neumann map for a nonlinear magnetic Schrödinger operator on the boundary of a compact complex manifold, equipped with a Kähler metric and admitting sufficiently many global holomorphic functions, determines the nonlinear magnetic and electric potentials uniquely.
We investigate the Cauchy problem for the half wave Schrödinger equation in the energy space. We derive the local well-posedness in the energy space for the odd power type nonlinearities under certain additional assumption for the initial data, namely $\hat{u}_0 \in L^1_{ξ, η}(\mathbb{R}^2)$.
In this note, we consider the ill-posedness issue for the cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation. In particular, we prove norm inflation based at every initial condition in negative Sobolev spaces below or at the scaling critical regularity.
In this short note, we prove Strichartz estimates for Schrödinger operators with slowly decaying singular potentials in dimension two. This is a generalization of the recent results by Mizutani, which are stated for dimension greater than two. The main ingredient of the proof is a variant of Kato's smoothing estimate with a singular weight.
In this paper we deal with the multiplicity and concentration of positive solutions for the following fractional Schrödinger-Kirchhoff type equation \begin{equation*} M\left(\frac{1}{\varepsilon^{3-2s}} \iint_{\mathbb{R}^{6}}\frac{|u(x)- u(y)|^{2}}{|x-y|^{3+2s}} dxdy + \frac{1}{\varepsilon^{3}} \int_{\mathbb{R}^{3}} V(x)u^{2} dx\right)[\varepsilon^{2s} (-Δ)^{s}u+ V(x)u]= f(u) \, \mbox{in} \mathbb{R}^{3} \end{equation*} where $\varepsilon>0$ is a small parameter, $s\in (\frac{3}{4}, 1)$, $(-Δ)^{s}$ is the fractional Laplacian, $M$ is a Kirchhoff function, $V$ is a continuous positive potential …
We consider the Cauchy problem for the $L^2$-critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a fractional dissipation. According to the order of the fractional dissipation, we prove the global existence or the existence of finite time blowup dynamics with the log-log blow-up speed for $\|\nabla u(t)\|_{L^2}$.
In this remark, we give another approach to the local well-posedness of quadratic Schrödinger equation with nonlinearity $u\bar u$ in $H^{-1/4}$, which was already proved by Kishimoto \cite{kis}. Our resolution space is $l^1$-analogue of $X^{s,b}$ space with low frequency part in a weaker space $L^{\infty}_{t}L^2_x$. Such type spaces was developed by Guo. \cite{G} to deal the KdV endpoint $H^{-3/4}$ regularity.
In this note, we consider the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation on the circle. In particular, by adapting Wu's recent argument to the periodic setting, we prove its global well-posedness in $H^1(\mathbb T)$, provided that the mass is less than $4π$. Moreover, this mass threshold is independent of spatial periods.
We consider the following time-independent nonlinear $L^2$-critical Schrödinger equation \[ -Δu(x)+V(x)u(x)-a|x|^{-b}|u|^{1+\frac{4-2b}{N}}=μu(x)\,\ \hbox{in}\,\ \mathbb{R}^N, \] where $μ\in\mathbb{R}$, $a>0$, $N\geq 1$, $0<b<\min\{2,N\}$, and $V(x)$ is an external potential. It is shown that ground states of the above equation can be equivalently described by minimizers of the corresponding minimization problem. In this paper, we prove that there is a threshold $a^*>0$ such that minimizer exists for $0<a<a^*$ and minimizer does not exist for any $a>a^*$. However if $a=a^*$, it is proved that …
We prove global existence of small solutions to the initial value problem for a class of cubic derivative nonlinear Schrödinger systems with the masses satisfying suitable non-resonance relations. The large-time asymptotics of the solutions are also shown. This work is intended to provide a counterpart of the previous paper (arXiv:1507.07617) in which the mass resonance case was treated.
In this paper, we study the solitary wave and the Cauchy problem for Half-wave-Schrödinger equations in the plane. First, we show the existence and orbital stability of the ground states. Secondly, we prove that traveling waves exist and converge to zero as the velocity tends to $1$. Finally, we solve the Cauchy problem for initial data in $L^{2}_{x}H^{s}_{y}(\mathbb{R}^{2})$, with $s>\frac{1}{2}$.
We consider the $L^2$-critical NLS with inverse-square potential $$ i \partial_t u +Δu + c|x|^{-2} u = -|u|^{\frac{4}{d}} u, \quad u(0) = u_0, \quad (t,x) \in \mathbb{R}^+ \times \mathbb{R}^d, $$ where $d\geq 3$ and $c\ne 0$ satisfies $c<λ(d) := \left(\frac{d-2}{2}\right)^2$. Using a refined compactness lemma, we extend the mass concentration of finite time blow-up solutions established in the attractive case by the first author in [Bensouilah] to $c<λ(d)$. By means of a simple and short limiting profile theorem, we get the same classification result obtained by Csobo and Genoud in [CsoboGenou…
In this paper we consider a compact Riemannian manifold (M, g) of class C 1 $\cap$ W 2,$\infty$ and the damped wave or Schrödinger equations on M , under the action of a damping function a = a(x). We establish the following fact: if the measure of the set {x $\in$ M ; a(x) = 0} is strictly positive, then the decay in time of the associated energy is at least logarithmic.

We study the Cauchy problem of the mass critical nonlinear Schrodinger equation with derivative with the 4pi mass. One has the global well-posedness in H^1 whenever "the mass is strictly less than 4pi" or whenever "the mass is equal to 4pi and the momentum is strictly less than zero". In this paper, by the concentration compact principle as originally done by Kenig-Merle, we obtain the limiting profile of blow up solutions with the critical 4pi mass.
We consider the following fractional Schrödinger-Poisson type equation with magnetic fields \begin{equation*} \varepsilon^{2s}(-Δ)_{A/\varepsilon}^{s}u+V(x)u+\varepsilon^{-2t}(|x|^{2t-3}*|u|^{2})u=f(|u|^{2})u \quad \mbox{ in } \mathbb{R}^{3}, \end{equation*} where $\varepsilon>0$ is a parameter, $s\in (\frac{3}{4}, 1)$, $t\in (0,1)$, $(-Δ)^{s}_{A}$ is the fractional magnetic Laplacian, $A:\mathbb{R}^{3}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^{3}$ is a smooth magnetic potential, $V:\mathbb{R}^{3}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a positive continuous electric potential and $f:\mathbb{R}^{3}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a…
We consider semilinear Schrödinger equations with nonlinearity that is a polynomial in the unknown function and its complex conjugate, on $\mathbb{R}^d$ or on the torus. Norm inflation (ill-posedness) of the associated initial value problem is proved in Sobolev spaces of negative indices. To this end, we apply the argument of Iwabuchi and Ogawa (2012), who treated quadratic nonlinearities. This method can be applied whether the spatial domain is non-periodic or periodic and whether the nonlinearity is gauge/scale-invariant or not.

On the one dimensional sphere, the support of the fundamental solution to the Schr$\rm \ddot o$dinger equation consists of finite points at the time $t\in 2π\Q$. The paper \cite{Ka} generalized this fact to compact symmetric spaces. In this paper, we consider similar results on Zoll manifolds. We study the singularity for a solution to the equation using a functional calculus of the self-adjoint operator with integer eigenvalues.
