In this article, we have studied a cylindrically symmetric self-gravitating dynamical object via complexity factor which is obtained through orthogonal splitting of Reimann tensor in $f(R,T)$ theory of gravity. Our study is based on the definition of complexity for dynamical sources, proposed by Herrera \cite{12b}. We actually want to analyze the behavior of complexity factor for cylindrically symmetric dynamical source in modified theory. For this, we define the scalar functions through orthogonal splitting of Reimann tensor in $f(R,T)$ gravity and work out structure scalars for cylindrical geometry. We evaluated the complexity of the structure and also analyzed the complexity of the evolutionary patterns of the system under consideration. In order to present simplest mode of evolution, we explored homologous condition and homogeneous expansion condition in $f(R,T)$ gravity and discussed dynamics and kinematics in the background of a generic viable non-minimally coupled $f(R,T)=α_1 R^m T^n +α_2 T(1+α_3 T^p R^q)$ model. In order to make a comprehensive analysis, we considered three different cases (representing both minimal and non-minimal coupling) of the model under consideration and found that complexity of a system is increased in the presence of higher order curvature terms, even in the simplest modes of evolution. However, higher order trace terms affects the complexity of the system but they are not crucial for simplest modes of evolution in the case of minimal coupling. The stability of vanishing of complexity factor has also been discussed.
The present work deals with the dynamics of radiating star which is considered to be expansion free cylindrical symmetric dust dissipative fluids. Several treatments are adopted for the description of geometrical and physical features of such stars. Firstly, it is shown that, the dynamical star does not permit the streaming out limit and diffusion approximation and also proved that acceleration and dissipation are necessary for its dynamical evolution. It has also shown that, a static expansion free cylinder must be non-radiating. Secondly, the existence of cavity model and self-similar soluti…
Static, cylindrically symmetric solutions to nonlinear scalar-Einstein equations are considered. Regularity conditions on the symmetry axis and flat or string asymptotic conditions are formulated in order to select soliton-like solutions. Some non-existence theorems are proved, in particular, theorems asserting (i) the absence of black-hole and wormhole-like cylindrically symmetric solutions for any static scalar fields minimally coupled to gravity and (ii) the absence of solutions with a regular axis for scalar fields with the Lagrangian $L=F(I)$, $I=ϕ^αϕ_α$, for any function $F(I)$ possessin…
This paper is devoted to analyze the dynamical instability of a self-gravitating object undergoes to collapse process. We take the framework of generalized teleparallel gravity with cylindrically symmetric gravitating object. The matter distribution is represented by locally anisotropic energy-momentum tensor. We develop basic equations such as dynamical equations along with matching conditions and Harrison-Wheeler equation of state. By applying linear perturbation strategy, we construct collapse equation which is used to accomplish the instability ranges in Newtonian and post-Newtonian regime…
We investigate some structure scalars developed through Riemann tensor for self-gravitating cylindrically symmetric charged dissipative anisotropic fluid. We show that these scalars are directly related to the fundamental properties of the fluid. We formulate dynamical-transport equation as well as the mass function by including charge which are then expressed in terms of structure scalars. The effects of electric charge are investigated in the structure and evolution of compact objects. Finally, we show that all possible solutions of the field equations can be written in terms of these scalar…
We investigate some exact static cylindrically symmetric solutions for a perfect fluid in the metric $f(R)$ theory of gravity. For this purpose, three different families of solutions are explored. We evaluate energy density, pressure, Ricci scalar and functional form of $f(R)$. It is interesting to mention here that two new exact solutions are found from the last approach, one is in particular form and the other is in the general form. The general form gives a complete description of a cylindrical star in $f(R)$ gravity.
We consider the existence of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton plus fluid system for the case of stationary cylindrically symmetric spacetimes. An exact inhomogeneous $ ε$-order solution is found, where the parameter $ε$ parametrizes the non-minimally coupled electromagnetic field. Some its physical attributes are investigated and a connection with already known Gödel-type solution is given. It is shown that the found solution also survives in the string-inspired charged gravity framework. We find that a magnetic field has positive influence on the chronology violation unlike the dilaton influence.
In this paper we consider a static, cylindrically symmetric spacetime with coincident f(Q) gravity. Since the field equation of this spacetime in symmetric teleparallel gravity is suitable for choosing the function of f(Q) in the form of power series and exponential forms, perfect fluid solutions of these forms are discussed. Energy densities, directional pressures and energy conditions are plotted and analysed for a few different metric potentials. Although cosmic strings violate all energy conditions in both f(Q) functions, the Levi-Civita solution violates all energy conditions in the power…
Solutions for cylindrically symmetric spacetimes in f(R) gravity are studied. As a first approach, R=constant is assumed. A solution was found such that it is equivalent to a result given by Azadi et al. for R=0 and a metric was found for R=constant different from zero. Comparison with the case of general relativity with cosmological constant is made and the metric constants are given in terms of Λ. Overlap with arXiv:0810.4673 [gr-qc] by A. Azadi, D. Momeni and M. The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the exact solutions of cylindrically symmetric spacetime in the context of $f(R,T)$ gravity [1], where $f(R,T)$ is an arbitrary function of Ricci scalar $R$ and trace of the energy momentum tensor $T$. We explore the exact solutions for two different classes of $f(R,T)$ models. The first class $f(R,T)=R+2f(T)$ yields a solution which corresponds to an exterior metric of cosmic string while the second class $f(R,T)=f_1(R)+f_2(T)$ provides an additional solution representing a non-null electromagnetic field. The energy densities and corresponding …
Four-dimensional cylindrically symmetric spacetimes with homothetic self-similarity are studied in the context of Einstein's Theory of Gravity, and a class of exact solutions to the Einstein-massless scalar field equations is found. Their local and global properties are investigated and found that they represent gravitational collapse of a massless scalar field. In some cases the collapse forms black holes with cylindrical symmetry, while in the other cases it does not. The linear perturbations of these solutions are also studied and given in closed form. From the spectra of the unstable eigen…
We perform quantization of a model in which gravity is coupled to a circular dust shell in 2+1 spacetime dimensions. Canonical analysis shows that momentum space of this model is ADS^2-space, and the global chart for it is provided by the Euler angles. In quantum kinematics, this results in non-commutativity in coordinate space and discreteness of the shell radius in timelike region, which includes the collapse point. At the level of quantum dynamics, we find transition amplitudes between zero and non-zero eigenvalues of the shell radius, which describe the rate of gravitational collapse (boun…
Observation shows that the velocities of stars grow by approximately 2 to 3 orders of magnitude when the distances from the centers of the galaxies are in the range of $0.5$ kpc to $82.3$ kpc, before they begin to tend to a constant value. Up to know, the reason for this behavior is still a matter for debate. In this work, we propose a model which adequately describes this unusual behavior using a (nearly) cylindrical symmetrical solution in the framework of a scalar-tensor-like (the Brans-Dicke model) theory of gravity.
Cylindrically-symmetric solutions in Conformal Gravity are investigated and several new solutions are presented and discussed. Among them, a family of vacuum solutions, generalizations of the Melvin solution and cosmic strings of the Abelian Higgs model. The Melvin-like solutions have finite energy per unit length, while the string-like solutions do not.
Cylindrically reduced Einstein gravity can be regarded as an $SL(2,R)/SO(2)$ sigma model coupled to 2D dilaton gravity. By using the corresponding 2D diffeomorphism algebra of constraints and the asymptotic behaviour of the Ernst equation we show that the theory can be mapped by a canonical transformation into a set of free fields with a Minkowskian target space. We briefly discuss the quantization in terms of these free-field variables, which is considerably simpler than in the other approaches.
Estimating the mass of the thin shell of gravastars in generalised cylindrically symmetric space-time within the framework of Rastall theory of gravity
We consider the problem of constructing static, elastic, many-body systems in Einstein gravity. The solutions constructed are deformations of static many-body configurations in Newtonian gravity. No symmetry assumptions are made.
Given a generic function $f(T)$ we construct in closed forms cylindrically symmetric static $n$-dimensional uncharged and charged de Sitter and anti-de Sitter solutions (including black holes, wormholes and possibly other regular solutions) in $f(T)$ gravity. Applications to some known models are considered.
The static cylindrically symmetric solutions of the gravitating Abelian Higgs model form a two parameter family. In this paper we give a complete classification of the string-like solutions of this system. We show that the parameter plane is composed of two different regions with the following characteristics: One region contains the standard asymptotically conic cosmic string solutions together with a second kind of solutions with Melvin-like asymptotic behavior. The other region contains two types of solutions with bounded radial extension. The border between the two regions is the curve of …
In this paper, we study the spontaneous scalarization of an extended, self-gravitating system which is static, cylindrically symmetric and possesses electromagnetic fields. We demonstrate that a real massive scalar field condenses on this Melvin magnetic universe solution when introducing a non-minimal coupling between the scalar field and (a) the magnetic field and (b) the curvature of the space-time, respectively. We find that in both cases, the solutions exist on a finite interval of the coupling constant and that solutions with a number of nodes $k$ in the scalar field exist. For case (a) …
In the previous work we introduced a new static cylindrically symmetric vacuum solutions in Weyl coordinates in the context of the metric f(R) theories of gravity\cite{1}. Now we obtain a 2-parameter family of exact solutions which contains cosmological constant and a new parameter as $β$. This solution corresponds to a constant Ricci scalar. We proved that in $f(R)$ gravity, the constant curvature solution in cylindrically symmetric cases is only one member of the most generalized Tian family in GR. We show that our constant curvature exact solution is applicable to the exterior of a string. …
The full set of equations governing the structure and the evolution of self--gravitating cylindrically symmetric dissipative fluids with anisotropic stresses, is written down in terms of scalar quantities obtained from the orthogonal splitting of the Riemann tensor (structure scalars), in the context of general relativity. These scalars which have been shown previously (in the spherically symmetric case) to be related to fundamental properties of the fluid distribution, such as: energy density, energy density inhomogeneity, local anisotropy of pressure, dissipative flux, active gravitational m…
Variables for constraint free null canonical vacuum general relativity are presented which have simple Poisson brackets that facilitate quantization. Free initial data for vacuum general relativity on a pair of intersecting null hypersurfaces has been known since the 1960s. These consist of the "main" data which are set on the bulk of the two null hypersurfaces, and additional "surface" data set only on their intersection 2-surface. More recently the complete set of Poisson brackets of such data has been obtained. However the complexity of these brackets is an obstacle to their quantization. P…
We prove that given a stress-free elastic body there exists, for sufficiently small values of the gravitational constant, a unique static solution of the Einstein equations coupled to the equations of relativistic elasticity. The solution constructed is a small deformation of the relaxed configuration. This result yields the first proof of existence of static solutions of the Einstein equations without symmetries.
In this paper, we have formulated the exact solutions of the non-static anisotropic gravitating source in $f(R,T)$ gravity which may lead to expansion and collapse. By assuming the no thermal conduction in gravitating source, we have determine parametric solutions in $f(R,T)$ gravity with non-static spherical geometry filled with anisotropic fluid. We have examined the range of parameter for which expansion scalar become negative and positive leading to collapse and expansion, respectively. Further, using the definition of mass function the condition for the trapped surface have been explored …
In this paper, we analyze stability regions of a non-static restricted class of axially symmetric spacetime with anisotropic matter distribution. We consider $f(R)=R+εR^2$ model and assume hydrostatic equilibrium of the axial self-gravitating system at large past time. Considering perturbation from hydrostatic phase, we develop dynamical as well as collapse equations and explore dynamical instabilities at Newtonian and post-Newtonian regimes. It is concluded with the help of stiffness parameter, $Γ_1$, that radial profile of physical parameters like pressure anisotropy, energy density and high…
We propose the almost-geodesic motion of self-gravitating test bodies as a possible selection rule among metric theories of gravity. Starting from a heuristic statement, the "gravitational weak equivalence principle", we build a formal, operative test able to probe the validity of the principle for any metric theory of gravity, in an arbitrary number of spacetime dimensions. We show that, if the theory admits a well-posed variational formulation, this test singles out only the purely metric theories of gravity. This conclusion reproduces known results in the cases of general relativity (also w…
In a recent paper, Herrera \cite{2} (L. Herrera: Phys. Rev. D97, 044010(2018)) have proposed a new definition of complexity for static self-gravitating fluid in General Relativity. In the present article, we implement this definition of complexity for static self-gravitating fluid to case of $f(R)$ gravity. Here, we found that in the frame of $f(R)$ gravity the definition of complexity proposed by Herrera, entirely based on the quantity known as complexity factor which appears in the orthogonal splitting of the curvature tensor. It has been observed that fluid spheres possessing homogenous ene…
We investigate an infinitesimally thin cylindrical shell composed of counter-rotating dust particles. This system was studied by Apostolatos and Thorne in terms of the C-energy for a bounded domain. In this paper, we reanalyze this system by evaluating the C-energy on the future null infinity. We find that some class of momentarily static and radiation-free initial data does not settle down into static, equilibrium configurations, and otherwise infinite amount of the gravitational radiation is emitted to the future null infinity. Our result implies the existence of an instability in this syste…
We review the history of the self-gravitating Fermi gas in Newtonian gravity and general relativity. We mention applications to white dwarfs, neutron stars and dark matter halos. We describe the nature of instabilities and phase transitions in the self-gravitating Fermi gas as energy (microcanonical ensemble) or temperature (canonical ensemble) is reduced. When $N<N_{\rm OV}$, where $N_{\rm OV}$ is the Oppenheimer-Volkoff critical particle number, the self-gravitating Fermi gas experiences a gravothermal catastrophe at $E_c$ stopped by quantum mechanics (Pauli's exclusion principle). The equil…
In this work we analyze the dynamics of collisionless self-gravitating systems described by the f(R)-gravity and Boltzmann equation in the weak field approximation, focusing on the Jeans instability for theses systems. The field equations in this approximation were obtained within the Palatini formalism. Through the solution of coupled equations we achieved the collapse criterion for infinite homogeneous fluid and stellar systems, which is given by a dispersion relation. This result is compared with the results of the standard case and the case for f(R)-gravity in metric formalism, in order to…
In a companion paper, we have emphasized the role of the Drinfeld double DSU(2) in the context of three dimensional Riemannian Loop Quantum Gravity coupled to massive spinless point particles. We make use of this result to propose a model for a self-gravitating quantum field theory (massive spinless non-causal scalar field) in three dimensional Riemannian space. We start by constructing the Fock space of the free self-gravitating field: the vacuum is the unique DSU(2) invariant state, one-particle states correspond to DSU(2) unitary irreducible simple representations and any multi-particles st…
In this paper, we have continued the work of Herrera \emph{et al.} \cite{herrera2012dynamical} in $f(G)$ gravitational theory. For this purpose, a spherically symmetric fluid exhibiting locally anisotropic pressure along with the energy density, is taken under consideration. The perturbation scheme is imposed on modified field equations and the dynamical equations. The collapse equation is devised from these perturbed equations which stimulates to disclose the instability zone under both Newtonian and post-Newtonian constraints. It is wrapped up by concluding that dynamical instability is inte…
We study the euclidean covariant loop-quantum-gravity vertex numerically, using a cylindrically symmetric boundary state and a convenient value of the Barbero-Immirzi parameter. We show that a classical geometry emerges already at low spin. We also recognise the appearance of the degenerate configurations.
The aim of this paper is to explore the complexity factor (CF) for those self-gravitating relativistic spheres whose evolution proceeds non-dynamically. We are adopting the definition of CF mentioned in \cite{PhysRevD.97.044010}, modifying it to the static spherically symmetric case, within the framework of a modified gravity theory (the Palatini $f(R)$ theory). In this respect, we have considered radial dependent anisotropic matter content coupled with spherical geometry and determined the complexity factor involved in the patterns of radial evolution. We shall explore the field and a well-kn…
Solar system observations have traditionally allowed for very stringent tests of Einstein's theory of general relativity. We here revisit the possibility of using these observations to constrain gravitational parity violation as encapsulated in dynamical Chern-Simons gravity. Working in the small-coupling and post-Newtonian approximations, we calculate analytically the scalar field and the gravitomagnetic sector of the gravitational field in the interior and the exterior of an isolated, weakly-gravitating object with uniform rotation and a quadrupolar mass deformation. We find that the asympto…
We formulate the nonlinear isovector model in a curved background, and calculate the spherically symmetric solutions for weak and strong coupling regimes. The usual belief that gravity does not have appreciable effects on the structure of solitons will be examined, in the framework of the calculated solutions, by comparing the flat-space and curved-space solutions. It turns out that in the strong coupling regime, gravity has essential effects on the solutions. Masses of the self-gravitating solitons are calculated numerically using the Tolman expression, and its behavior as a function of the c…
The conformal gravity remarkably boosts our prehension of gravity theories. We find a series of dynamical solutions in the $W^2$-conformal gravity, including generalized Schwarzschild-Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (GSFRW), charged generalized Schwarzschild-Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (CGSFRW), especially rotating Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (RFRW), charged rotating Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (CRFRW), and a dynamical cylindrically symmetric solutions. The RFRW, CRFRW and the dynamical cylindrically symmetric solutions are never found in the Einstein gravity and modified gravities. The GSFRW and CGSF…
Cylindrically symmetric stationary spacetimes are examined in the framework of string-inpired generalized theory of gravity. In four dimensions this theory contains a dilatonic scalar field in addition to gravity. A charged perfect fluid representing fermionic matter is also considered. Explicit solution is given and a discussion of the geometrical properties of the solutions found is carried out.
Spin-polarised cylindrically symmetric solution are shown not to be compatible with teleparallel gravity. This can be done in two distinct manners. The first is to show that not all components of the orthonormal tetrad (OT).It is argue however that this result maybe done by a bad choice of the spin distribution along the cylinder.A cylindrically symmetric Riemannian solution is obtained which represents a conical geometry of defects.
In the framework of metric $f(R)$ gravity, we find the dispersion relation for the propagation of tightly wound spiral density waves in the surface of rotating, self-gravitating disks. Also, new Toomre-like stability criteria for differentially rotating disks has been derived for both fluid and stellar disks.
We discuss the gravitational collapse of spherical compact objects in the background of $f(R,T,Q)$ theory, where $R$ represent the Ricci scalar, $T$ is the trace of energy momentum tensor while $Q\equiv R_{μν}T^{μν}$, and investigate the influence of anisotropy and heat dissipation in this scenario. We provide an analysis on the role of distinct material terms considered while studying the dynamical equation. The dynamical equation is coupled with a heat transport equation and discussed in the background of $f(R,T,Q)$ theory of gravity. The reduction element in the density of inertial mass, is…
Generic self-gravitating quantum solutions that are not critically dependent on the specifics of microscopic interactions are presented. The solutions incorporate curvature effects, are consistent with the universality of gravity, and have appropriate correspondence with Newtonian gravitation. The results are consistent with known experimental results that indicate the maintenance of the quantum coherence of gravitating systems, as expected through the equivalence principle.
Homogeneous isotropic gravitating models are discussed in the framework of gauge approach to gravitation. Generalized cosmological Friedmann equations without specific solutions are deduced for models filled by scalar fields and usual gravitating matter. Extreme conditions, by which gravitational repulsion effect takes place, are analyzed.
We show that, when we study the coexistence of general relativity with thermodynamics, some physical properties that are usually thought of as holographic and lying in the domain of quantum gravity can actually be accessed even at the classical level. In particular, we demonstrate that the thermodynamics of gravitating systems in equilibrium is fully specified by variables defined on the system's boundary, namely, the boundary's geometry and extrinsic curvature. Hence, information is non-trivially incorporated in boundary variables because of the structure (the symmetries) of the classical gra…
The explicit relationship is determined between the interior properties of a static cylindrical matter distribution and the metric of the exterior space-time according to Einstein gravity for space-time dimensionality larger or equal to four. This is achieved through use of a coordinate system isotropic in the transverse coordinates. As a corollary, similar results are obtained for a spherical matter distribution in Brans-Dicke gravity for dimensions larger than or equal to three. The approach used here leads to consistency conditions for those parameters characterizing the exterior metric. It…
We consider static, cylindrically symmetric configurations in general relativity coupled to nonlinear electrodynamics (NED) with an arbitrary gauge-invariant Lagrangian of the form $L_{em}= Φ(F)$, $F =F_{mn}F^{mn}$. We study electric and magnetic fields with three possible orientations: radial (R), longitudinal (L) and azimuthal (A), and try to find solitonic stringlike solutions, having a regular axis and a flat metric at large $r$, with a possible angular defect. Assuming the function $Φ(F)$ to be regular at small $F$, it is shown that a regular axis is impossible in R-fields if there is a n…
We develop a general formalism to determine the statistical equilibrium states of self-gravitating systems in general relativity and complete previous works on the subject. Our results are valid for an arbitrary form of entropy but, for illustration, we explicitly consider the Fermi-Dirac entropy for fermions. The maximization of entropy at fixed mass-energy and particle number determines the distribution function of the system and its equation of state. It also implies the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equations of hydrostatic equilibrium and the Tolman-Klein relations. Our paper provides all th…
We consider a static self-gravitating system consisting of perfect fluid with isometries of an $(n-2)$-dimensional maximally symmetric space in Lovelock gravity theory. A straightforward analysis of the time-time component of the equations of motion suggests a generalized mass function. Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff like equation is obtained by using this mass function and gravitational equations. We investigate the maximum entropy principle in Lovelock gravity, and find that this Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equation can also be deduced from the so called "maximum entropy principle" which is origi…
We obtain a new exact equilibrium solution to the N-body problem in a one-dimensional relativistic self-gravitating system. It corresponds to an expanding/contracting spacetime of a circle with N bodies at equal proper separations from one another around the circle. Our methods are straightforwardly generalizable to other dilatonic theories of gravity, and provide a new class of solutions to further the study of (relativistic) one-dimensional self-gravitating systems.
This paper aims to explore some realistic configurations of anisotropic spherical structures in the background of metric $f(R)$ gravity, where $R$ is the Ricci scalar. The solutions obtained by Krori and Barua are used to examine the nature of particular compact stars with three different modified gravity models. The behavior of material variables is analyzed through plots and the physical viability of compact stars is investigated through energy conditions. We also discuss the behavior of different forces, equation of state parameter, measure of anisotropy and Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equat…
In this article we investigate exact cylindrically symmetric solutions to the modified Einstein field equations in the brane world gravity scenarios. It is shown that for the special choice of the equation of state $2U+P=0$ for the dark energy and dark pressure, the solutions found could be considered formally as solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell equations in 4-D general relativity.
In this paper we will study for the first time how the wave-packet of a self-gravitating meso-scopic system spreads in theories beyond Einstein's general relativity. In particular, we will consider a ghost-free infinite derivative gravity, which resolves the $1/r$ singularity in the potential - such that the gradient of the potential vanishes within the scale of non-locality. We will show that a quantum wave-packet spreads faster for a ghost-free and singularity-free gravity as compared to the Newtonian case, therefore providing us a unique scenario for testing classical and quantum properties…
A novel Hamiltonian description of the dynamics of a spherically symmetric, light-like, self-gravitating shell is presented. It is obtained via the systematic reduction of the phase space with respect to the Gauss-Codazzi constraints, model and rare procedure in the Canonical Gravity. The Hamiltonian of the system (numerically equal to the value of the ADM mass) is explicitly calculated in terms of the gauge-invariant "true degrees of freedom", i.e. as a function on the reduced phase space. A geometric interpretation of the momentum canonically conjugate to the shell's radius is given. Models …

We present the exact exterior solution for a static and neutral cylindrically symmetric source in locally conformal invariant Weyl gravity. As a special case the general relativity analogue still can be attained, however only as a sub-family of solutions. Our solution contains a linear term that would thus result in a potential that grows linearly over large distances. This may have implications for exotic astrophysical structures as well as matter fields on the extremely small scale.
