In a recent paper, Herrera \cite{2} (L. Herrera: Phys. Rev. D97, 044010(2018)) have proposed a new definition of complexity for static self-gravitating fluid in General Relativity. In the present article, we implement this definition of complexity for static self-gravitating fluid to case of $f(R)$ gravity. Here, we found that in the frame of $f(R)$ gravity the definition of complexity proposed by Herrera, entirely based on the quantity known as complexity factor which appears in the orthogonal splitting of the curvature tensor. It has been observed that fluid spheres possessing homogenous energy density profile and isotropic pressure are capable to diminish their the complexity factor. We are interested to see the effects of $f(R)$ term on complexity factor of the self-gravitating object. The gravitating source with inhomogeneous energy density and anisotropic pressure have maximum value of complexity. Further, such fluids may have zero complexity factor if the effects of inhomogeneity in energy density and anisotropic pressure cancel the effects of each other in the presence of $f(R)$ dark source term. Also, we have found some interior exact solutions of modified $f(R)$ field equations satisfying complexity criterium and some applications of this newly concept to the study of structure of compact objects are discussed in detail. It is interesting to note that previous results about the complexity for static self-gravitating fluid in General Relativity can be recovered from our analysis if $f(R)=R$, which General Relativistic limit of $f(R)$ gravity. Some future research directions have been mentioned in the end of the summary.
We develop a simple model for a self-gravitating spherically symmetric relativistic star which begins to collapse from an initially static configuration by dissipating energy in the form of radial heat flow. We utilize the model to show how local anisotropy effects the collapse rate and thermal behaviour of gravitationally evolving systems.
In this paper, we have formulated the exact solutions of the non-static anisotropic gravitating source in $f(R,T)$ gravity which may lead to expansion and collapse. By assuming the no thermal conduction in gravitating source, we have determine parametric solutions in $f(R,T)$ gravity with non-static spherical geometry filled with anisotropic fluid. We have examined the range of parameter for which expansion scalar become negative and positive leading to collapse and expansion, respectively. Further, using the definition of mass function the condition for the trapped surface have been explored …
This paper is devoted to study the effects of electromagnetic on the collapse and expansion of anisotropic gravitating source. For this purpose, we have evaluated the generating solutions of Einstein-Maxwell field equations with spherically symmetric anisotropic gravitating source. We found that a single function generates the various anisotropic solutions. In this case every generating function involves an arbitrary function of time which can be chosen to fit several astrophysical time profiles. Two physical phenomenon occur, one is gravitational collapse and other is the cosmological expandi…
The coupled system of the spherically symmetric Einstein--Maxwell differential equations is solved under two different source conditions: non-zero electric charge and pressure anisotropy. Expressions for the metric functions, and pressures which extend the Tolman VII exact solution are deduced from the new solutions. By applying boundary conditions to these solutions, all integration constants are computed in terms of parameters that are physically meaningful.
There is proved an existence theorem, in the Newtonian theory, for static, self-gravitating bodies composed of elastic material. The theorem covers the case where these bodies are small, but allows them to have arbitrary shape.
We consider the problem of constructing static, elastic, many-body systems in Einstein gravity. The solutions constructed are deformations of static many-body configurations in Newtonian gravity. No symmetry assumptions are made.
It is shown that different approaches towards the solution of the Einstein equations for a static spherically symmetric perfect fluid with a gamma-law equation of state lead to an Abel differential equation of the second kind. Its only integrable cases at present are flat spacetime, de Sitter solution and its Buchdahl transform, Einstein static universe and the Klein-Tolman solution.
Using the the concept of cracking we explore the influence of density fluctuations and local anisotropy have on the stability of local and non-local anisotropic matter configurations in general relativity. This concept, conceived to describe the behaviour of a fluid distribution just after its departure from equilibrium, provides an alternative approach to consider the stability of selfgravitating compact objects. We show that potentially unstable regions within a configuration can be identify as a function of the difference of propagations of sound along tangential and radial directions. In f…
We examine the entropy of self-gravitating anisotropic matter confined to a box in the context of generalrelativity. The configuration of self-gravitating matter is spherically symmetric, but has anisotropic pressure of which angular part is different from the radial part. We deduce the entropy from the relation between the thermodynamical laws and the continuity equation. The variational equation for this entropy is shown to reproduce the gravitational field equation for the anisotropic matter. This result re-assures us the correspondence between gravity and thermodynamics. We apply this meth…
We prove that given a stress-free elastic body there exists, for sufficiently small values of the gravitational constant, a unique static solution of the Einstein equations coupled to the equations of relativistic elasticity. The solution constructed is a small deformation of the relaxed configuration. This result yields the first proof of existence of static solutions of the Einstein equations without symmetries.
This paper aims to explore some realistic configurations of anisotropic spherical structures in the background of metric $f(R)$ gravity, where $R$ is the Ricci scalar. The solutions obtained by Krori and Barua are used to examine the nature of particular compact stars with three different modified gravity models. The behavior of material variables is analyzed through plots and the physical viability of compact stars is investigated through energy conditions. We also discuss the behavior of different forces, equation of state parameter, measure of anisotropy and Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equat…
In this paper, we analyze stability regions of a non-static restricted class of axially symmetric spacetime with anisotropic matter distribution. We consider $f(R)=R+εR^2$ model and assume hydrostatic equilibrium of the axial self-gravitating system at large past time. Considering perturbation from hydrostatic phase, we develop dynamical as well as collapse equations and explore dynamical instabilities at Newtonian and post-Newtonian regimes. It is concluded with the help of stiffness parameter, $Γ_1$, that radial profile of physical parameters like pressure anisotropy, energy density and high…
The fluid models mentioned in the title are classified. All characteristics of the fluid are expressed through a master potential, satisfying an ordinary second order differential equation. Different constraints are imposed on this core of relations, finding new solutions and deriving the classical results for perfect fluids and dust as particular cases. Many uncharged and charged anisotropic solutions, all conformally flat and some uniform density solutions are found. A number of solutions with linear equation among the two pressures are derived, including the case of vanishing tangential pre…
The exact axisymmetric and static solution of the Einstein equations coupled to axisymmetric and static gravitating scalar (or phantom) field is presented. The spacetimes modified by the scalar field are explicitly given for the so called $γ$-metric and Erez-Rosen metric with quadrupole moment $q$, influence of the additional deformation parameters $γ_*$ and $q_*$ generated by the scalar field is studied. It is shown that the null energy condition is satisfied for the phantom field, but it is not satisfied for the standard scalar field. The test particle motion in the both modified $γ$-metric …
We show that for any perfect fluid in a static spacetime, if the Einstein constraint equation is satisfied and the temperature of the fluid obeys Tolman's law, then the other components of Einstein's equation are implied by the assumption that the total entropy of the fluid achieves an extremum for fixed total particle number and for all variations of metric with certain boundary conditions. Conversely, one can show that the extrema of the total entropy of the fluid are implied by Einstein's equation. Compared to previous works on this issue, we do not require spherical symmetry for the spacet…

We prove under certain assumptions no-hair theorems for non-canonical self-gravitating static multiple scalar fields in spherically symmetric spacetimes. It is shown that the only static, spherically symmetric and asymptotically flat black hole solutions consist of the Schwarzschild metric and a constant multi-scalar map. We also prove that there are no static, horizonless, asymptotically flat, spherically symmetric solutions with static scalar fields and a regular center. The last theorem shows that the static, asymptotically flat, spherically symmetric reflecting compact objects with Neumann…
We discuss the dynamical analysis in $f(R,T)$ gravity (where $R$ is Ricci scalar and $T$ is trace of energy momentum tensor) for gravitating sources carrying axial symmetry. The self gravitating system is taken to be anisotropic and line element describes axially symmetric geometry avoiding rotation about symmetry axis and meridional motions (zero vorticity case). The modified field equations for axial symmetry in $f(R,T)$ theory are formulated, together with the dynamical equations. Linearly perturbed dynamical equations lead to the evolution equation carrying adiabatic index $Γ$ that defines…
In this paper, we have continued the work of Herrera \emph{et al.} \cite{herrera2012dynamical} in $f(G)$ gravitational theory. For this purpose, a spherically symmetric fluid exhibiting locally anisotropic pressure along with the energy density, is taken under consideration. The perturbation scheme is imposed on modified field equations and the dynamical equations. The collapse equation is devised from these perturbed equations which stimulates to disclose the instability zone under both Newtonian and post-Newtonian constraints. It is wrapped up by concluding that dynamical instability is inte…
We study axially symmetric static solitons of O(3) nonlinear $σ$ model coupled to (2+1)-dimensional anti-de Sitter gravity. The obtained solutions are not self-dual under static metric. The usual regular topological lump solution cannot form a black hole even though the scale of symmetry breaking is increased. There exist nontopological solitons of half integral winding in a given model, and the corresponding spacetimes involve charged Ba$\tilde n$ados-Teitelboim-Zanelli black holes without non-Abelian scalar hair.
The fluid model for the dark sector of the universe (darkon fluid) introduced previously in \cite{PRD} is reformulated as a modified model involving only variables from physical phase space. The Lagrangian of the model does not possess a free particle limit and hence the particles it describes, darkons, exist only as a self-gravitating fluid. This darkon fluid presents a dynamical realisation of the zero-mass Galilean algebra extended by anisotropic dilational symmetry with dynamical exponent $z=5/3$. The model possesses cosmologically relevant solutions which are identical to those of \cite{P…
The main part of the thesis deals with continuously and discretely self-similar solutions and type II critical phenomena in a family of self-gravitating non-linear sigma-models. The phenomena strongly depend on the dimensionless coupling constant. For small couplings we numerically construct continuously self-similar (CSS) solutions and analyze their stability properties. For large couplings we construct a discretely self-similar (DSS) solution with one unstable mode. We argue that at some critical coupling the DSS solution bifurcates from the first CSS excitation in a heteroclinic loop bifurc…
Two new classes of exact interior static solutions of the Einstein equations in homogeneous coordinates for a gravitating ball filled by a Pascal perfect fluid are obtained. Schwarzschild's interior solution of is a special case of these solutions.
We derive and discuss black-hole solutions to the gravitating O(3) $σ$ model in (2+1) dimensions. Three different kinds of static black holes are found. One of these resembles the static BTZ black hole, another is completely free of singularities, and the last type has the same Penrose diagram as the (3+1)-dimensional Schwarzschild black hole. We also construct static and dynamical multi-black hole systems.
This paper is devoted to study the effects of electromagnetic field on the energy density inhomogeneity in the relativistic self-gravitating fluids for spherically symmetric spacetime. Two important equations of the Weyl tensor are formulated which help to analyze the energy density inhomogeneity in this scenario. We investigate two types of fluids, i.e., non-dissipative and dissipative. The non-dissipative fluid further includes dust, locally isotropic, and locally anisotropic charged fluids. We explore the effects of different factors on energy density inhomogeneity in all these cases, in pa…
A gauge and coordinate invariant perturbation theory for self-gravitating non-Abelian gauge fields is developed and used to analyze local uniqueness and linear stability properties of non-Abelian equilibrium configurations. It is shown that all admissible stationary odd-parity excitations of the static and spherically symmetric Einstein-Yang-Mills soliton and black hole solutions have total angular momentum number $\ell = 1$, and are characterized by non-vanishing asymptotic flux integrals. Local uniqueness results with respect to non-Abelian perturbations are also established for the Schwarzs…
We prove that in the family of static, asymptotically flat, spherically symmetric scalar hairy black holes with the central electric charge, the set of the charge-to-mass ratios has the exact upper bound $3\sqrt{2}/4\approx1.06$.
In the present paper, we discuss the role of gravitational decoupling to isotropize the anisotropic solution of Einstein's field equations in the context of the complete geometric deformation (CGD) approach and its influence on the complexity factor introduced by L. Herrera (Phys. Rev. D 97, 044010 (2018)) in the static self-gravitating system. Moreover, we also proposed a simple and effective technique to generate new solutions for self-gravitating objects via CGD approach by using two systems with the same complexity factor and vanishing complexity factor proposed by Casadio et al. Eur. Phys…
We consider a magnetized degenerate gas of fermions as the matter source of a homogeneous but anisotropic Bianchi I spacetime with a Kasner--like metric. We examine the dynamics of this system by means of a qualitative and numerical study of Einstein-Maxwell field equations which reduce to a non--linear autonomous system. For all initial conditions and combinations of free parameters the gas evolves from an initial anisotropic singularity into an asymptotic state that is completely determined by a stable attractor. Depending on the initial conditions the anisotropic singularity is of the ``cig…
Recently, static and spherically symmetric configurations of globally regular self-gravitating scalar solitons were found. These configurations are unstable with respect to radial linear perturbations. In this paper we study the dynamical evolution of such configurations and show that, depending on the sign of the initial perturbation, the solitons either collapse to a Schwarzschild black hole or else ``explode'' into an outward moving domain wall.
We present analytical and numerical results for static, spherically symmetric solutions of the Einstein Yang-Mills Higgs equations corresponding to magnetic monopoles and non-abelian magnetically charged black holes. In the limit of infinite Higgs mass we give an existence proof for these solutions. The stability of the abelian extremal Reissner-Nordstrom black holes is reanalyzed.
In this outline we recognize the idea of complexity factor for static anisotropic self-gravitating source with generalized $f(R)$ metric gravity theory. In present consideration, we express the Einstein field equations, hydrostatic equilibrium equation, the mass function and physical behavior of $f(R)$ model by using some observational data of well known compact stars like $4U~1820-30, SAX~J1808.4-3658$ and $Her~X-1$. We define the scalar functions through the orthogonal splitting of the Reimann-Christofell tensor and then find the vanishing complexity condition for self-gravitating system wit…
Building upon the methods used recently, we establish the inexistence of self-gravitating solitonic solutions for both static and strictly stationary asymptotically flat spacetimes in generalised axion electrodynamics. This is an Einstein-Maxwell-axion model, where the axion field $θ$ is non-minimally coupled to the electromagnetic field. Considering the standard QCD axion coupling, we first present an argument for the absence of static axionic solitons, $i.e.$ localised energy axionic-electromagnetic configurations, yielding an everywhere regular, horizonless, asymptotically flat, static spac…
The existence of static self-gravitating Newtonian elastic balls is proved under general assumptions on the constitutive equations of the elastic material. The proof uses methods from the theory of finite-dimensional dynamical systems and the Euler formulation of elasticity theory for spherically symmetric bodies introduced recently by the authors. Examples of elastic materials covered by the results of this paper are Saint Venant-Kirchhoff, John and Hadamard materials.
The classical Einstein--Maxwell field equations admit static horizonless wormhole solutions with only a circular cosmic string singularity. We show how to extend these static solutions to exact rotating asymptotically flat solutions. For a suitable range of parameter values, these solutions describe charged or neutral rotating closed cosmic strings, with a perimeter of the order of their Schwarzschild radius.
It is shown that the dynamical evolution of linear perturbations on a static space-time is governed by a constrained wave equation for the extrinsic curvature tensor. The spatial part of the wave operator is manifestly elliptic and self-adjoint. In contrast to metric formulations, the curvature-based approach to gravitational perturbation theory generalizes in a natural way to self-gravitating matter fields. It is also demonstrated how to obtain symmetric pulsation equations for self-gravitating non-Abelian gauge fields, Higgs fields and perfect fluids. For vacuum fluctuations on a vacuum spac…
In this paper, we have studied gravitational collapse and expansion of non-static anisotropic fluid in $5D$ Einstein Gauss-Bonnet gravity. For this purpose, the field equations have been modeled and evaluated for the given source and geometry. The two metric functions have been expressed in terms of parametric form of third metric function. We have examined the range of parameter $β$ (appearing in the form of metric functions) for which $Θ$ the expansion scalar becomes positive/negative leads to expansion/collapse of the source. The trapped surface condition has been explored by using definiti…
We put forward a new definition of complexity, for static and spherically symmetric self--gravitating systems, based on a quantity, hereafter referred to as complexity factor, that appears in the orthogonal splitting of the Riemann tensor, in the context of general relativity. We start by assuming that the homogeneous (in the energy density) fluid, with isotropic pressure is endowed with minimal complexity. For this kind of fluid distribution, the value of complexity factor is zero. So, the rationale behind our proposal for the definition of complexity factor stems from the fact that it measur…
We explore gravitating relativistic spheres composed of an anisotropic, barotropic uid. We assume a bi-polytropic equation of state which has a linear and a power-law terms. The generalized Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equation which describes the hydrostatic equilibrium is obtained. The full system of equations are solved for solutions which are regular at the origin and asymptotically flat. Conditions for the appearance of horizon and a basic treatment of stability are also discussed.
Recent analytic results concerning stationary, self-gravitating fluids in Newtonian theory are discussed. We give a theorem that forbids infinitely extended fluids, depending on the assumed equation of state and the rotation law. This part extends previous results that have been obtained for static configurations. The second part discusses a Sobolev bound on the mass of the fluid and a rigorous Jeans-type inequality that is valid in the stationary case.
We investigate self-gravitating rotating solutions in the Einstein-Skyrme theory. These solutions are globally regular and asymptotically flat. We present a new kind of solutions with zero baryon number, which possess neither a flat limit nor a static limit.
Stars can be treated as self-gravitating fluid. Krori and Barua (1975) gave an analytical solutions to that kind of fluids. In this connection, we propose a de-Sitter model for an anisotropic strange star with the Krori-Barua spacetime. We incorporate the existence of cosmological constant in a small scale to study the structure of anisotropic strange stars and come to conclusion that this doping is very much compatible with the well known physical features of strange stars.
We derive and analyze exact static solutions to the gravitating O(3) $σ$ model with cosmological constant in (2+1) dimensions. Both signs of the gravitational and cosmological constants are considered. Our solutions include geodesically complete spacetimes, and two classes of black holes.
The present work deals with the dynamics of radiating star which is considered to be expansion free cylindrical symmetric dust dissipative fluids. Several treatments are adopted for the description of geometrical and physical features of such stars. Firstly, it is shown that, the dynamical star does not permit the streaming out limit and diffusion approximation and also proved that acceleration and dissipation are necessary for its dynamical evolution. It has also shown that, a static expansion free cylinder must be non-radiating. Secondly, the existence of cavity model and self-similar soluti…
This manuscript is devoted to study the combined effect of a viable model, f(R) = R + αR^n, and electromagnetic field on the instability range of gravitational collapse. We assume charged anisotropic fluid that dissipate energy via heat flow and discuss that electromagnetic field, density inhomogeneity, shear and phase transition on astrophysical bodies can be incorporated by locally anisotropic background. Dynamical equations help to investigate the evolution of self-gravitating objects and leads to the conclusion that adiabatic index depend upon the electromagnetic background, mass and radiu…
A topological geon is the quotient manifold $M/Z_2$ where $M$ is a static spherically symmetric wormhole having the reflection symmetry with respect to its throat. We distinguish such asymptotically flat solutions of the Einstein equations according to the form of the time-time metric function by using the quadrature formulas of the so-called inverse problem for self-gravitating spherically symmetric scalar fields. We distinguish three types of geon spacetimes and illustrate them by simple examples. We also study possible observational effects associated with bounded geodesic motion near topol…
This paper deals with the collapse and expansion of relativistic anisotropic self-gravitating source. The field equations for non-radiating and non-static plane symmetric anisotropic source have been evaluated. The non-radiating property of the fluid leads to evaluation of the metric functions. We have classified the dynamical behavior of gravitational source as expansion and collapse. The collapse in this case leads to the final stage without the formation of apparent horizons while such horizons exists in case of spherical anisotropic source. The matching of interior and exterior regions pro…
We investigate the extension of isotropic interior solutions for static self-gravitating systems to include the effects of anisotropic spherically symmetric gravitational sources by means of the gravitational decoupling realised via the minimal geometric deformation approach. In particular, the matching conditions at the star surface with the outer Schwarzschild space-time are studied in great details, and we describe how to generate, from a single physically acceptable isotropic solution, new families of anisotropic solutions whose physical acceptability is also inherited from their isotropic…
The aim of this paper is to explore the complexity factor (CF) for those self-gravitating relativistic spheres whose evolution proceeds non-dynamically. We are adopting the definition of CF mentioned in \cite{PhysRevD.97.044010}, modifying it to the static spherically symmetric case, within the framework of a modified gravity theory (the Palatini $f(R)$ theory). In this respect, we have considered radial dependent anisotropic matter content coupled with spherical geometry and determined the complexity factor involved in the patterns of radial evolution. We shall explore the field and a well-kn…
It is shown that the dynamical evolution of perturbations on a static spacetime is governed by a standard pulsation equation for the extrinsic curvature tensor. The centerpiece of the pulsation equation is a wave operator whose spatial part is manifestly self-adjoint. In contrast to metric formulations, the curvature-based approach to gravitational perturbation theory generalizes in a natural way to self-gravitating matter fields. For a certain relevant subspace of perturbations the pulsation operator is symmetric with respect to a positive inner product and therefore allows spectral theory to…
Static, cylindrically symmetric solutions to nonlinear scalar-Einstein equations are considered. Regularity conditions on the symmetry axis and flat or string asymptotic conditions are formulated in order to select soliton-like solutions. Some non-existence theorems are proved, in particular, theorems asserting (i) the absence of black-hole and wormhole-like cylindrically symmetric solutions for any static scalar fields minimally coupled to gravity and (ii) the absence of solutions with a regular axis for scalar fields with the Lagrangian $L=F(I)$, $I=ϕ^αϕ_α$, for any function $F(I)$ possessin…
Relativistic, spherically symmetric configurations consisting of a gravitating magnetized anisotropic fluid are studied. For such configurations, we obtain static equilibrium solutions with an axisymmetric, poloidal magnetic field produced by toroidal electric currents. The presence of such a field results in small deviations of the shape of the configuration from spherical symmetry. This in turn leads to the modification of an equation for the current and correspondingly to changes in the structure of the internal magnetic field for the systems supported by the anisotropic fluid, in contrast …
An algorithm presented by K. Lake to obtain all static spherically symmetric perfect fluid solutions was recently extended by L. Herrera to the interesting case of locally anisotropic fluids (principal stresses unequal). In this work we develop an algorithm to construct all static spherically symmetric anisotropic solutions for general relativistic polytropes. Again the formalism requires the knowledge of only one function (instead of two) to generate all possible solutions. To illustrate the method some known cases are recovered.
