We explore gravitating relativistic spheres composed of an anisotropic, barotropic uid. We assume a bi-polytropic equation of state which has a linear and a power-law terms. The generalized Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equation which describes the hydrostatic equilibrium is obtained. The full system of equations are solved for solutions which are regular at the origin and asymptotically flat. Conditions for the appearance of horizon and a basic treatment of stability are also discussed.
Recently, the covariant formulation of the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equations for studying the equilibrium structure of a spherically symmetric compact star in the presence of the pressure anisotropy in the interior of a star was presented in Phys. Rev. D \textbf{97} (2018) 124057. It was suggested there that the anisotropic solution of these equations can be obtained by finding, first, the solution of the common TOV equations for the isotropic pressure, and then by solving the differential equation for the anisotropic pressure whose particular form was established on the basis of the …
In this paper we study anisotropic spherical polytropes within the framework of general relativity. Using the anisotropic Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkov (TOV) equations, we explore the relativistic anisotropic Lane-Emden equations. We find how the anisotropic pressure affects the boundary conditions of these equations. Also we argue that the behaviour of physical quantities near the center of star changes in the presence of anisotropy. For constant density, a class of exact solution is derived with the aid of a new ansatz and its physical properties are discussed.
A charged compact star models have been determined for anisotropic fluid distribution. We have solved the Einstein's- Maxwell field equations to construct the charged compact star models by using radial pressure, metric function $e^λ$ and electric charge function. The generic charged anisotropic solution is verified by exploring different physical conditions like, causality condition, mass-radius relation and stability of the solution (via. adiabatic index, TOV equations and Herrera cracking concept). It is observed that the present charged anisotropic compact star is compatible with the star …
We have proposed a model for relativistic compact star with anisotropy and analytically obtained exact spherically symmetric solutions describing the interior of the dense star admitting non-static conformal symmetry. Several features of the solutions including drawbacks of the model have been explored and discussed. For this purpose we have provided the energy conditions, TOV-equations and other physical requirements and thus thoroughly investigated stability, mass-radius relation and surface redshift of the model. It is observed that most of the features are well matched with the compact sta…
One of the very small number of serious alternatives to the usual concept of an astrophysical black hole is the "gravastar" model developed by Mazur and Mottola; and a related phase-transition model due to Laughlin et al. We consider a generalized class of similar models that exhibit continuous pressure -- without the presence of infinitesimally thin shells. By considering the usual TOV equation for static solutions with negative central pressure, we find that gravastars cannot be perfect fluids -- anisotropic pressures in the "crust" of a gravastar-like object are unavoidable. The anisotropic…
In this work, we study the existence of strange star in the background of $f(\mathbb{T},\mathcal{T})$ gravity in the Einstein spacetime geometry, where $\mathbb{T}$ is the torsion tensor and $\mathcal{T}$ is the trace of the energy-momentum tensor. The equations of motion are derived for anisotropic pressure within the spherically symmetric strange star. We explore the physical features like energy conditions, mass-radius relations, modified TOV equations, principal of causality, adiabatic index, redshift and stability analysis of our model. These features are realistic and appealing to furthe…
For static fluid spheres, the condition of hydrostatic equilibrium is given by the generalized Tolman--Oppenheimer--Volkoff (TOV) equation, a Riccati equation in the radial pressure. For a perfect fluid source, it is known that finding a new solution from an existing solution requires solving a Bernoulli equation, if the density profile is kept the same. In this paper, we consider maps between static (an)isotropic fluid spheres with the same (arbitrary) density profile and present solution-generating techniques to find new solutions from existing ones. The maps, in general, require solving an …
In the present article, we have constructed static anisotropic compact star models of Einstein field equations for the spherical symmetric metric of embedding class one. By assuming the particular form of metric function $ν$, We have solved the Einstein field equations for anisotropic matter distribution. The anisotropic models are representing the realistic compact objects such as SAX J 1808.4-3658 (SS1), Her X - 1, Vela X-12, PSR J1614-2230 and Cen X - 3. We have reported our results in details for compact star Her X-1 on the ground of physical properties such as pressure, density, velocity …
We rewrite the Tolman -- Oppenheimer -- Volkoff (TOV) equations for four and higher dimensional static spherically symmetric stars so that they resemble the equations for anisotropic cosmology. This becomes possible by treating the curvature terms of the sphere as part of the matter sector. Comparing then with the effective equations in the Loop Quantum Cosmology -- inspired models, we propose analogous modifications to the TOV equations which contain one arbitrary function. A linear function gives the TOV equations. If the function and all its derivatives are finite then the solutions are non…
In this work, we present a class of relativistic and well-behaved solution to Einstein's field equations for anisotropic matter distribution. We perform our analysis by using the Buchdahl ansatz for the metric function grr. Three different classes of new exact solution are found for anisotropy factor(delta). We have analyzed our model with various physical aspects such as pressure (radial as well as transverse), energy density, anisotropy factor, mass, compactness parameter, adiabatic index(gamma) and surface redshift. A graphical analysis of energy conditions, TOV equation and causality condi…
We study spherically symmetric geometries made of anisotropic perfect fluid based on general relativity. The purpose of the work is to find and classify black hole solutions in closed spacetime. In a general setting, we find that a static and closed space exists only when the radial pressure is negative but its size is smaller than the density. The Einstein equation is eventually casted into a first order autonomous equation on two-dimensional plane of scale-invariant variables, which are equivalent to the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equation in general relativity. Then, we display variou…
In this work we construct families of anisotropic neutron stars for an equation of state compatible with the constraints of the gravitational-wave event GW170817 and for four anisotropy ansatze. Such stars are subjected to a radial perturbation in order to study their stability against radial oscillations and we develop a dynamical model to describe the non-adiabatic gravitational collapse of the unstable anisotropic configurations whose ultimate fate is the formation of a black hole. We find that the standard criterion for radial stability $dM/dρ_c >0$ is not always compatible with the calcul…
Compact objects have an intrinsic anisotropy due to the presence of strong magnetic fields that cause considerable modifications on the equations of state (EoS). In this work, we study the impact of this anisotropy in the size and shape of magnetized strange quark stars using an axially symmetric metric in spherical coordinates, the gamma-metric. The results are compared with those obtained with the standard Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equations for the parallel and perpendicular pressures independently. Differences in the results are discussed.
Within the framework of $f(R,T)$ theories of gravity, we investigate the hydrostatic equilibrium of anisotropic neutron stars with a physically relevant equation of state (EoS) for the radial pressure. In particular, we focus on the $f(R,T) = R+ 2βT$ model, where $β$ is a minimal coupling constant. In the slowly rotating approximation, we derive the modified TOV equations and the expression for the relativistic moment of inertia. The main properties of neutron stars, such as radius, mass and moment of inertia, are studied in detail. Our results revel that the main consequence of the $2βT$ term…
In the present paper, we treat the problem of the existence of quark stars (QSs) for selected homogeneous and unpaired charge-neutral $3$-flavor interacting quark matter with $\mathcal{O}(m_s^4)$ corrections equations of state (EoS). Using the EoS combined with the Tolmann-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) structure equations, the properties of stars are explored by obtaining their mass-radius relations. All calculations are carried out within the framework of the $R$-squared gravity defined by $f(R) = R+a R^2$. Our main goal is to discuss the effect for a wide range of the $R$-squared gravity paramet…
In the present paper, we report on a study of the anisotropic strange stars under Finsler geometry. Keeping in mind that Finsler spacetime is not merely a generalization of Riemannian geometry rather the main idea is the projectivized tangent bundle of the manifold $\mathpzc{M}$, we have developed the respective field equations. Thereafter, we consider the strange quark distribution inside the stellar system followed by the MIT bag model equation of state (EOS). To find out the stability and also the physical acceptability of the stellar configuration, we perform in detail some basic physical …
In this paper we present a strange stellar model using Tolman $V$ type metric potential employing simplest form of the MIT bag equation of state (EOS) for the quark matter. We consider that the stellar system is spherically symmetric, compact and made of an anisotropic fluid. Choosing different values of $n$ we obtain exact solutions of the Einstein field equations and finally conclude that for a specific value of the parameter $n=1/2$ we find physically acceptable features of the stellar object. Further we conduct different physical tests, viz., the energy condition, generalized TOV equation,…
We argue that an arbitrary general relativistic static anisotropic fluid sphere, (static and spherically symmetric but with transverse pressure not equal to radial pressure), can nevertheless be successfully mimicked by suitable linear combinations of theoretically attractive and quite simple classical matter: a classical (charged) isotropic perfect fluid, a classical electromagnetic field, and a classical (minimally coupled) scalar field. While the most general decomposition is not unique, a preferred minimal decomposition can be constructed that is unique. We show how the classical energy co…
In this study, we present a generalized spherically symmetric, anisotropic and static compact stellar model in $f(T)$ gravity, where $T$ represents the torsion scalar. By employing the Karmarkar condition we have obtained embedding class 1 metric from the general spherically metric of class 2 and the solutions of the Einstein field equations (EFE) has been presented with the choice of suitable parametric values of $n$ under a simplified linear form of $f(T)$ gravity reads as $f(T)=A+BT$, where $A$ and $B$ are two constants. By matching the interior spacetime metric with the exterior Schwarzsch…
In this article, we attempt to find a singularity free solution of Einstein's field equations for compact stellar objects, precisely strange (quark) stars, considering Schwarzschild metric as the exterior spacetime. To this end, we consider that the stellar object is spherically symmetric, static and anisotropic in nature and follows the density profile given by Mak and Harko (2002), which satisfies all the physical conditions. To investigate different properties of the ultra-dense strange stars we have employed the MIT bag model for the quark matter. Our investigation displays an interesting …
In a recent report, Carballo-Rubio [1] utilizes the semi-classical theory of gravity to obtain a generalized Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equation. This model has a new coupling constant $l_p$ implying two different modified TOV equation forms characterized by the sign of $p'$. The negative branch reduces to the ordinary GR-TOV in the limit of $l_p\to0$, while the positive one does not. In the positive branch, Carballo-Rubio was able to find the exact solutions using the constant-$λ$ trick. In this work, we investigate whether this theory's negative branch can also provide a different feat…
We develop a new model for a spherically symmetric dark matter fluid sphere containing two regions: {\bf (i)} Isotropic inner region with constant density and {\bf (ii)} Anisotropic outer region. We solve the system of field equation by assuming a particular density profile along with a linear equation of state. The obtained solutions are well-behaved and physically acceptable which represent equilibrium and stable matter configuration by satisfying the TOV equation and causality condition, condition on adiabatic index, Harrison-Zeldovich-Novikov criterion, respectively. We consider the compac…
We investigate a simplified model for the strange stars in the framework of Finslerian spacetime geometry, composed of charged fluid. It is considered that the fluid consisting of three flavor quarks including a small amount of non-interacting electrons to maintain the chemical equilibrium and assumed that the fluid is compressible by nature. To obtain the simplified form of charged strange star we considered constant flag curvature. Based on geometry, we have developed the field equations within the localized charge distribution. We considered that the strange quarks distributed within the st…
By using the gravitational decoupling through the minimal geometric deformation approach (MGD-decoupling), we show a simple and powerful method to generate physically acceptable exact analytical solutions for anisotropic stellar distributions in general relativity. We find that some perfect fluid configurations could be incompatible with anisotropic effects produced by scalar fields.
We study a specific model of anisotropic strange stars in the modified $f\left(R,\mathcal{T}\right)$-type gravity by deriving solutions to the modified Einstein field equations representing a spherically symmetric anisotropic stellar object. We take a standard assumption that $f(R,\mathcal{T})=R+2χ\mathcal{T}$, where $R$ is Ricci scalar, $\mathcal{T}$ is the trace of the energy-momentum tensor of matter, and $χ$ is a coupling constant. To obtain our solution to the modified Einstein equations, we successfully apply the `embedding class 1' techniques. We also consider the case when the strange …

In this paper we are looking for the exponential solutions (i.e. the solutions with the scale factors change exponentially over time) in the Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity. We argue that we found all possible non-constant-volume solutions (up to permutations) in lower dimensions ((4+1) and (5+1)) and developed a scheme which allows one to find necessary conditions in arbitrary dimension.
We solve the five dimensional vacuum Einstein equations for several kinds of anisotropic geometries. We consider metrics in which the spatial slices are characterized as Bianchi types-II and V, and the scale factors are dependent both on time and a non-compact fifth coordinate. We examine the behavior of the solutions we find, noting for which parameters they exhibit contraction over time of the fifth scale factor, leading naturally to dimensional reduction. We explore these within the context of the induced matter model: a Kaluza-Klein approach that associates the extra geometric terms due to…
A double new class of solutions to the general relativity field equations describing interior spacetimes sourced by stationary cylindrical anisotropic fluids with principal stress directed along the symmetry axis is displayed. These solutions are required to satisfy regularity and junction conditions so that they can be possibly used to represent rotating astrophysical objects. Mathematical and physical properties are analyzed. The spacetime two independent parameters are physically interpreted, and they are shown to define two different solution classes together with stating the latters' prop…
The electromagnetic field is studied in a family of exact solutions of the Einstein equations whose material content is a perfect fluid with stiff equation of state (p = $ε$ ). The field equations are solved exactly for several members of the family.
In this thesis four separate problems in general relativity are considered, divided into two separate themes: coordinate conditions and perfect fluid spheres. Regarding coordinate conditions we present a pedagogical discussion of how the appropriate use of coordinate conditions can lead to simplifications in the form of the spacetime curvature -- such tricks are often helpful when seeking specific exact solutions of the Einstein equations. Regarding perfect fluid spheres we present several methods of transforming any given perfect fluid sphere into a possibly new perfect fluid sphere. This is …
The anisotropic Bianchi type I in multi-scalar field cosmology is studied with a particular potential of the form $\rm V= V_0 e^{-\left[λ_1 ϕ_1 + \cdots + λ_n ϕ_n \right]}\,,$ which emerges as a condition between the time derivatives of their corresponding momenta. Using the Hamiltonian formalism for the inflation epoch with a quintessence framework we find the exact solutions for the Einstein-Klein-Gordon (EKG) system with different scenarios specified by the parameter $\rm λ^2= \sum_{i=1}^n λ_i^2$. For the quantum scheme of this model, the corresponding Wheeler-DeWitt (WDW) equation is solve…
In this paper, we present the Noether symmetries of locally rotationally symmetric Bianchi type I (LRS BI), an anisotropic model, in the context of the teleparallel gravity. We study a certain modified teleparallel theory based on the action that, in particular, contains a coupling between the scalar field and field strength (magnetism part). We derive the symmetry generators and show that, by means of cyclic variables approach, we can not obtain a suitable solution for field equations. Hence by the use of B.N.S. approach, we solve the equations which carry Noether currents as well. By data an…
This thesis has considered the existence of anisotropic exact vacuum solutions in the context of higher order gravities. The investigated models generally are a function of three scalars R, $R_{αβ}R^{αβ}$ and $R_{αβμν}R^{αβμν}$. Near singularity, dominant terms in the expansion of analytic type of these functions are in terms of $R^{n}$ (practically $R^{1+δ}$, for indicating deviation from Einstein-Hilbert action), ($R_{αβ}R^{αβ})^{n}$ or ($R_{αβμν}R^{αβμν})^{n}$. Investigation shows that there always exists Kasner type solutions in $R^{n}$ and $R_{αβ}R^{αβ})^{n}$ models. But, in the third typ…
We perform a detailed physical analysis for a class of exact solutions for the Einstein-Maxwell equations. The linear equation of state consistent with quark stars has been incorporated in the model. The physical analysis of the exact solutions is performed by considering the charged anisotropic stars for the particular nonsingular exact model obtained by Maharaj, Sunzu and Ray. In performing such an analysis we regain masses obtained by previous researchers for isotropic and anisotropic matter. It is also indicated that other masses and radii may be generated which are in acceptable ranges co…
In this work, we have obtained exact solutions of Einstein equations for static and axially symmetric magnetized matter, specifically in plane-symmetric and almost-plane symmetric cases. Although these solutions impose constraints on the components of the energy-momentum tensor, some physically interesting situations, like the magnetized vacuum, might be described. Plane-symmetric solutions in presence of a non-vanishing cosmological constant have remarkable features. In particular, the system can be driven continuously to the isotropic case by an appropriate tuning of the cosmological constan…
We have presented a new anisotropic solution of Einstein's field equations for compact star models. The Einstein's field equations are solved by using the class one condition \cite{1}. After that we constructed the physically valid expression of anisotropy factor by the help of metric potentials and there after we obtained the physical parameters like energy density, radial and transverse pressure. These models parameters are well behaved inside the compact star and satisfy all the required physical conditions. Also we observed a very interesting result that all the physical parameters are dep…
In the case of two-scalar field cosmology and, specifically for the Chiral model, we determine an exact solution for the field equations with a anisotropic background space. The exact solution can describe anisotropic inflation with a Kantowski-Sachs geometry and it can be seen as the anisotropic analogue of the hyperbolic inflation. Finally, we investigate the evolution for the homogeneous perturbations around the new asymptotic solution.
In this paper we are concerned with the effects of anisotropic pressure on the boundary conditions of anisotropic Lane-Emden equation and homology theorem. Some new exact solutions of this equation are derived. Then some of the theorems governing the Newtonian perfect fluid star are extended taking the anisotropic pressure into account.
We find new exact solutions to the Einstein-Maxwell field equations which are relevant in the description of highly compact stellar objects. The relativistic star is charged and anisotropic with a quark equation of state. Exact solutions of the field equations are found in terms of elementary functions. It is interesting to note that we regain earlier quark models with uncharged and charged matter distributions. A physical analysis indicates that the matter distributions are well behaved and regular throughout the stellar structure. A range of stellar masses are generated for particular parame…
It is known that de Sitter spacetime can be seen as the solution of field equation for completely isotropic matter. In the present paper a new class of exact solutions in spherical symmetry is found and discussed, such that the energy--momentum tensor has two 2--dimensional distinct isotropic subspaces.
We study the effects of anisotropic pressure on the properties of spherically symmetric, gravitationally bound objects. We consider the full general relativistic treatment of this problem and obtain exact solutions for various form of equations of state connecting the radial and tangential pressures. It is shown that pressure anisotropy can have significant effects on the structure and properties of stellar objects. In particular, the maximum value of 2M/R can approach unity (2M/R < 8/9 for isotropic objects) and the surface redshift can be arbitrarily large.
