Admissible pairs $((\widetilde S, \widetilde L), \widetilde E)$ consisting of an $N$-dimensional projective scheme~$\widetilde S$ of certain class with a special ample invertible sheaf $\widetilde L$ and a locally free ${\cal O}_{\widetilde S}$-sheaf $\widetilde E$ are considered. An admissible pair can be produced in the procedure of a transformation (which is called a resolution) of a torsion-free coherent sheaf $E$ on a nonsingular $N$-dimensional projective algebraic variety $S$ to a locally free sheaf $\widetilde E$ on some projective scheme $\widetilde S$. Notions of stability and semistability of admissible pairs and a moduli functor for semistable admissible pairs are introduced. Also the relation of the stability and semistability for admissible pairs to the classical stability and semistability for coherent sheaves under the resolution is examined. Morphisms between the moduli functor of admissible semistable pairs and the Gieseker--Maruyama moduli functor (of semistable coherent torsion-free sheaves) with the same Hilbert polynomial on a nonsingular $N$-dimensional projective algebraic variety are constructed. Examining these morphisms it is shown that the moduli scheme for semistable admissible pairs $((\widetilde S, \widetilde L), \widetilde E)$ is isomorphic to the Gieseker--Maruyama moduli scheme for coherent sheaves. The considerations involve all the existing components of these moduli functors and of their corresponding moduli schemes.

A morphism of the moduli functor of admissible semistable pairs to the Gieseker -- Maruyama moduli functor (of semistable coherent torsion-free sheaves) with the same Hilbert polynomial on the surface, is constructed. It is shown that these functors are isomorphic, and the moduli scheme for semistable admissible pairs $((\tilde S, \tilde L), \tilde E)$ is isomorphic to the Gieseker -- Maruyama moduli scheme. The considerations involve all components of moduli functors and corresponding moduli scheme as they exist.
We construct a two-level weighted TQFT whose structure coefficents are equivariant intersection numbers on moduli spaces of admissible covers. Such a structure is parallel (and strictly related) to the local Gromov-Witten theory of curves of Bryan-Pandharipande. We compute explicitly the theory using techniques of localization on moduli spaces of admissible covers of a parametrized projective line. The Frobenius Algebras we obtain are one parameter deformations of the class algebra of the symmetric group S_d. In certain special cases we are able to produce explicit closed formulas for such def…
We derive a formula for the virtual class of the moduli space of rubber maps to $[\mathbb{P}^1/G]$ pushed forward to the moduli space of stable maps to $BG$. As an application, we show that the Gromov-Witten theory of $[\mathbb{P}^1/G]$ relative to $0$ and $\infty$ are determined by known calculations.
We study Hodge Integrals on Moduli Spaces of Admissible Covers. Motivation for this work comes from Bryan and Pandharipande's recent work on the local GW theory of curves, where analogouos intersection numbers, computed on Moduli Spaces of Relative Stable Maps, are the structure coefficients for a Topological Quantum Field Theory. Admissible Covers provide an alternative compactification of the Moduli Space of Maps, that is smooth and doesn't contain boundary components of excessive dimension. A parallel, yet different, TQFT, can then be constructed. In this paper we compute, using localizatio…
A morphism of the moduli functor of admissible semistable pairs to the Gieseker -- Maruyama moduli functor (of semistable coherent torsion-free sheaves) with the same Hilbert polynomial on the surface, is constructed. It is shown that these functors are isomorphic, and main components of moduli scheme for semistable admissible pairs are isomorphic to main components of the Gieseker -- Maruyama moduli scheme
The cherry on top of this stacky paper is the following: for any g>1 we give a finite group G such that the moduli space of connected admissible G-covers of genus g is a smooth, fine moduli space, which is a Galois cover of the moduli space of stable curves. The proof relies on methods introduced by Looijenga and Pikaart-De Jong, and on the theory of twisted G-covers, a theory announced without proofs in math.AG/9811059, section 3, and developed in the first few sections of this paper. This includes a moduli description of the normalization of the Harris-Mumford space of admissible covers, and…
We show that the Poincaré bundle gives a fully faithful embedding from the derived category of a curve of sufficiently high genus into the derived category of its moduli space of bundles of rank $r$ with fixed determinant of degree 1. Moreover we show that a twist of the embedding, together with 2 exceptional line bundles, gives the start of a semi-orthogonal decomposition. This generalises results of Narasimhan and Fonarev-Kuznetsov, who embedded the derived category of a single copy of the curve, for rank 2.
We introduce the good Hilbert functor and prove that it is algebraic. This functor generalizes various versions of the Hilbert moduli problem, such as the multigraded Hilbert scheme and the invariant Hilbert scheme. Moreover, we generalize a result concerning formal GAGA for good moduli spaces.
A root system $R$ of rank $n$ defines an $n$-dimensional smooth projective toric variety $X(R)$ associated with its fan of Weyl chambers. We give a simple description of the functor of $X(R)$ in terms of the root system $R$ and apply this result in the case of root systems of type $A$ to give a new proof of the fact that the toric variety $X(A_n)$ is the fine moduli space $\bar{L}_{n+1}$ of stable $(n+1)$-pointed chains of projective lines investigated by Losev and Manin.
We give some examples of isomorphisms of moduli of sheaves induced by Fourier-Mukai functor. As applications, we give another proof on deformation type of some moduli spaces of sheaves on abelian and K3 surfaces.
We show how natural functors from the category of coherent sheaves on a projective scheme to categories of Kronecker modules can be used to construct moduli spaces of semistable sheaves. This construction simplifies or clarifies technical aspects of existing constructions and yields new simpler definitions of theta functions, about which more complete results can be proved.
In this paper, we define $Λ$-quot-functors on Deligne-Mumford stacks. We prove that the $Λ$-quot-functor is representable by an algebraic space. Then, we construct the moduli space of $Λ$-modules on a projective Deligne-Mumford stack. We prove that this moduli space is a quasi-projective scheme.
A morphism of nonreduced Gieseker - Maruyama functor (of semistable coherent torsion-free sheaves) on a surface to the nonreduced functor of admissible semistable pairs with the same Hilbert polynomial, is constructed. This leads to the morphism of moduli schemes with possibly nonreduced scheme structures. As usually, we consider subfunctors corresponding to main components of moduli schemes.
For singular metrics, there is no Quillen metric formalism on cohomology determinant. In this paper, we develop an admissible theory, with which the arithmetic Deligne-Riemann-Roch isometry can be established for singular metrics. As an application, we first study Weil-Petersson metrics and Takhtajan-Zograf metrics on moduli spaces of punctured Riemann surfaces, and then give a more geometric interpretation of our determinant metrics in terms of Selberg zeta functions. We end this paper by proposing an arithmetic factorization for Weil-Petersson metrics, cuspidal metrics and Selberg zeta funct…
A new compactification for the scheme of moduli for Gieseker-stable vector bundles with prescribed Hilbert polynomial, on the smooth projective polarized surface (S,L), is constructed. Families of locally free sheaves on the surface S are completed by locally free sheaves on schemes which are modifications of S. Gieseker -- Maruyama moduli space has a birational morphism onto the new moduli space. We propose the functor for families of pairs polarized scheme -- vector bundle with moduli space of such type.
We explicitly describe the KSBA/Hacking compactification of a moduli space of log surfaces of Picard rank 2. The space parametrizes log pairs $(S, D)$ where $S$ is a degeneration of $\mathbb{P}^1 \times \mathbb{P}^1$ and $D \subset S$ is a degeneration of a curve of class $(3,3)$. We prove that the compactified moduli space is a smooth Deligne--Mumford stack with 4 boundary components. We relate it to the moduli space of genus 4 curves; we show that it compactifies the blow-up of the hyperelliptic locus. We also relate it to a compactification of the Hurwitz space of triple coverings of $\math…
We define functors on the derived category of the moduli space M of stable sheaves on a smooth projective surface (under Assumptions A and S below), and prove that these functors satisfy certain relations. These relations allow us to prove that the given functors induce an action of the elliptic Hall algebra on the K-theory of the moduli space M, thus generalizing the action studied by Nakajima, Grojnowski and Baranovsky in cohomology.
The moduli space of stable relative maps to the projective line combines features of stable maps and admissible covers. We prove all standard Gromov-Witten classes on these moduli spaces of stable relative maps have tautological push-forwards to the moduli space of curves. In particular, the fundamental classes of all moduli spaces of admissible covers push-forward to tautological classes. Consequences for the tautological rings of the moduli spaces of curves include methods for generating new relations, uniform derivations of the socle and vanishing statements of the Gorenstein conjectures fo…
In this note we define moduli functors of (primitively) polarized K3 spaces. We show that they are representable by Deligne-Mumford stacks over Spec(Z). Further, we look at K3 spaces with a level structure. Our main result is that the moduli functors of K3 spaces with a primitive polarization of degree 2d and a level structure are representable by smooth algebraic spaces over open parts of Spec(Z). To do this we use ideas of Grothendieck, Deligne, Mumford, Artin and others. These results are the starting point for the theory of complex multiplication for K3 surfaces and the definition of Kuga-…
We study the relationship between tropical and classical Hurwitz moduli spaces. Following recent work of Abramovich, Caporaso and Payne, we outline a tropicalization for the moduli space of generalized Hurwitz covers of an arbitrary genus curve. Our approach is to appeal to the geometry of admissible covers, which compactify the Hurwitz scheme. We define and construct a moduli space of tropical admissible covers, and study its relationship with the skeleton of the Berkovich analytification of the classical space of admissible covers. We use techniques from non-archimedean geometry to show that…
We show that for many moduli spaces M of torsion sheaves on K3 surfaces S, the functor D(S) -> D(M) induced by the universal sheaf is a P-functor, hence can be used to construct an autoequivalence of D(M), and that this autoequivalence can be factored into geometrically meaningful equivalences associated to abelian fibrations and Mukai flops. Along the way we produce a derived equivalence between two compact hyperkaehler 2g-folds that are not birational, for every g >= 2. We also speculate about an approach to showing that birational moduli spaces of sheaves on K3 surfaces are derived-equivale…
We interpret Galois covers in terms of particular monoidal functors, extending the correspondence between torsors and fiber functors. As applications we characterize tame $G$-covers between normal varieties for finite and étale group schemes and we prove that, if $G$ is a finite, flat and finitely presented nonabelian and linearly reductive group scheme over a ring, then the moduli stack of $G$-covers is reducible.
Let $Bun_G(X)$ be the moduli stack of $G$-torsors on a smooth projective curve $X$ for a reductive group $G$. We prove a conjecture made by Drinfeld-Wang and Gaitsgory on the Deligne-Lusztig duality for D-modules on $Bun_G(X)$. This conjecture relates Drinfeld-Gaitsgory's pseudo-identity functors to the enhanced Eisenstein series and geometric constant term functors on $DMod(Bun_G(X))$. We also prove a "second adjointness" result for these enhanced functors.
In the theory of the moduli-stacks of n-pointed stable curves, there are two fundamental functors, contraction and stabilization. These functors are constructed in [4], where they are used to show that the various \bar{M_{g,n}}'s are DM-stacks. We give here a more elementary and more complete proof of the fact that stabilization, as it is defined in [4], is a functor. The fact that contraction is a functor inverse to the stabilization-functor we think is satisfactorily treated in [4]. In a very recent publication [1] there is a proof based on the proof in [4], but it is adapted to the case of …
We prove a representability theorem for moduli functors of framed torsion-free sheaves on nonsingular complex projective surfaces, using formal geometry along a curve in the surface. This has as a consequence that a certain restriction morphism for moduli stacks of sheaves has fibers that are schemes.
We show that the failure of the usual Verdier duality on Bun(G) leads to a new duality functor on the category of D-modules, and we study its relation to the operation of Eisenstein series.
A morphism of the reduced Gieseker -- Maruyama moduli functor (of semistable coherent torsion-free sheaves) to the reduced moduli functor of admissible semistable pairs with the same Hilbert polynomial, is constructed. It is shown that main components of reduced moduli scheme for semistable admissible pairs ((\tilde S, \tilde L), \tilde E) are isomorphic to main components of reduced Gieseker -- Maruyama moduli scheme.
We prove that every proper subspace of the moduli space of stable surfaces with fixed volume over an algebraically closed field of characteristic p>5 is projective. As a consequence we also deduce that the same moduli space is projective over Z[1/30] modulo two conjectural local properties of the moduli functor.
We give a functorial normal crossing compactification of the moduli of smooth marked cubic surfaces entirely analogous to the Grothendieck-Knudsen compactification $M_{0,n} \subset \bar{M}_{0,n}$.
Hodge classes on the moduli space of admissible covers with monodromy group G are associated to irreducible representations of G. We evaluate all linear Hodge integrals over moduli spaces of admissible covers with abelian monodromy in terms of multiplication in an associated wreath group algebra. In case G is cyclic and the representation is faithful, the evaluation is in terms of double Hurwitz numbers. In case G is trivial, the formula specializes to the well-known result of Ekedahl-Lando-Shapiro-Vainshtein for linear Hodge integrals over the moduli space of curves in terms of single Hurwitz…
We introduce moduli spaces of flags of sheaves on P^2, and use them to obtain functors between the derived categories of the usual moduli spaces of sheaves on P^2. These functors induce an action of the shuffle algebra on K-theory, by certain explicit formulas.
We introduce moduli spaces of quasi-admissible hyperelliptic covers with at worst A and D singularities. The stability conditions for these moduli spaces depend on two parameters describing allowable singularities. By varying these parameters, we interpolate between the stacks of stable limits of A and D singularities and the quotients of the versal deformation spaces of A and D singularities by a natural $\mathbb{G}_m$ action.
We propose an alternative definition for families of stable pairs $(X,D)$ over a possibly non-reduced base when $D$ is reduced, by replacing $(X,D)$ with an appropriate orbifold pair $(\mathcal X,\mathcal D)$. This definition of a stable family ends up being equivalent to previous ones, but has the advantage of being more amenable to the tools of deformation theory. Moreover, adjunction for $(\mathcal X,\mathcal D)$ holds on the nose; there is no correction term coming from the different. This leads to the existence of functorial gluing morphisms for families of stable surfaces and functorial …
We compute the degree of Hurwitz-Hodge classes $λ_1^e$ on one dimensional moduli spaces of cyclic admissible covers of the projective line. We also compute the degree of the the first Chern class of the Hodge bundle $λ_1$ for all one dimensional moduli spaces. In higher dimension, we express the divisor class $λ_1$ as a linear combination of $ψ$ classes and boundary strata.
We study the moduli functor of flat bundles on smooth, possibly non-proper, algebraic variety $X$ (over a field of characteristic zero). For this we introduce the notion of \emph{formal boundary} of $X$, denoted by $\partial X$, which is a formal analogue of the boundary at infinity of the Betti topological space associated to $X$. We explain how to construct two derived moduli functors $Vect^{\nabla}(X)$ and $Vect^{\nabla}(\partial X)$, of flat bundles on $X$ and on $\partial X$, as well as a restriction map $R : Vect^{\nabla}(X) \rightarrow Vect^\nabla(\partial X)$ from the former to the lat…
We study an admissible subcategory of the Bondal quiver which conjecturally does not admit any Bridgeland stability conditions. Specifically, we prove that its Serre functor coincides with the spherical twist associated with a $3$-spherical object. As a consequence, we obtain a classification of the spherical objects, deduce the non-existence of Serre-invariant stability conditions, and construct a natural spherical functor from its structure as a categorical resolution of the nodal cubic curve.
The main purpose of this paper is to prove the existence of the moduli space parameterizing the embedded curve singularities of $(k^N,0)$ with an admissible Hilbert polynomial and to study its basic properties.
In this paper we describe explicit generating functions for a large class of Hurwitz-Hodge integrals. These are integrals of tautological classes on moduli spaces of admissible covers, a (stackily) smooth compactification of the Hurwitz schemes. Admissible covers and their tautological classes are interesting mathematical objects on their own, but recently they have proved to be a useful tool for the study of the tautological ring of the moduli space of curves, and the orbifold Gromov-Witten theory of DM stacks. Our main tool is Atiyah-Bott localization: its underlying philosophy is to transla…
We show that the moduli spaces of Thaddeus pairs on smooth projective curves and those of dual pairs are related by d-critical flips, which are virtual birational transformations introduced by the second author. We then prove the existence of fully-faithful functors between derived categories of coherent sheaves on these moduli spaces. Our result gives an evidence of a d-critical analogue of Bondal-Orlov, Kawamata's D/K equivalence conjecture, and also a categorification of wall-crossing formula of Donaldson-Thomas type invariants on ADHM sheaves introduced by Diaconescu.
The moduli space of twisted stable maps into the stack $B(\Z/m\Z)^2$ carries a natural $S_n$-action and so its cohomology may be decomposed into irreducible $S_n$-representations. Working over $\Spec \Z[1/m]$ we show that the alternating part of the cohomology of one of its connected components is exactly the cohomology associated to cusp forms for $Γ(m)$. In particular this offers an alternative to Scholl's construction of the Chow motive associated to such cusp forms. This answers in the affirmative a question of Manin on whether one can replace the Kuga-Sato varieties used by Scholl with so…
We define a new modular functor based on Kac-Wakimoto admissible representations and the corresponding D-module on the moduli space of rank 2 vector bundles with parabolic structure. A new fusion functor arises which is related to representation theory of the pair "osp(1|2),sl(2)" in the same way as the fusion functor for the Virasoro algebra is related to representation theory of the pair "sl(2),sl(2)"
The construction for nonreduced projective moduli scheme of semistable admissible pairs is performed. We establish the relation of this moduli scheme with reduced moduli scheme built up in the previous article and prove that nonreduced moduli scheme contains an open subscheme which is isomorphic to moduli scheme of semistable vector bundles.
In a previous paper, the authors proved that the Prym variety of any non-cyclic etale triple cover of a smooth curve of genus 2 is a Jacobian variety of dimension 2. This gives a map from the moduli space of such covers to the moduli space of Jacobian varieties of dimension 2. We extend this map to a proper map of a certain moduli space of admissible $S_3$-covers of genus 7 to the moduli space of principally polarized abelian surfaces. The main result is that this map is finite surjective of degree 10.
