In Lie theory the partial sum property (PSP) says that for a root system in any Kac-Moody algebra, every positive root is an ordered sum of simple roots whose partial sums are all roots. In this paper, we present two generalizations:
1) "Parabolic generalization": if $I$ is a subset of simple roots, every root with positive $I$-height is an ordered sum of roots of $I$-height 1, whose partial sums are all roots. In fact we show this on the Lie algebra level, by showing that every root space is spanned by the Lie words formed from root vectors of $I$-height 1. As an application, we provide a "minimal" description for the set of weights of every (non-integrable) simple highest weight module over any Kac-Moody algebra. This seems to be novel even in finite type.
2) Generalization to weights of weight modules: the PSP gives a chain of roots between 0 (fixed) and any positive root. We generalize this to the weights of weight modules to get a chain of weights between any two comparable weights. This was shown by S. Kumar for any finite-dimensional simple module over a semisimple Lie algebra. In this paper, we extend this result to (i) a large class of highest weight modules over any Kac-Moody algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, which includes all simple highest weight modules over $\mathfrak{g}$; (ii) more generally, for non-highest weight modules such as $\mathfrak{g}$ itself (adjoint representation) and arbitrary submodules of parabolic Verma modules over $\mathfrak{g}$; (iii) arbitrary integrable modules over semisimple $\mathfrak{g}$. Additionally, we also prove the "parabolic" generalizations of this second generalization to the best possible extent.
We also find all the highest weight modules which have their sets of weights same as those of parabolic Verma modules and provide a Minkowski difference formula for weights of arbitrary highest weight modules over Kac-Moody $\mathfrak{g}$.
We prove a $q$-analogue of the Carter-Payne theorem for the two special cases corresponding to moving an arbitrary number of nodes between adjacent rows, or moving one node between an arbitrary number of rows. As a consequence, we show that these homomorphism spaces are one dimensional when $q \neq -1$. We apply these results to complete the classification of the reducible Specht modules for the Hecke algebras of the symmetric groups when $q \neq-1$. Our methods can also be used to determine certain other pairs of Specht modules between which there is a homomorphism. In particular, we describe…
In this paper we study certain fundamental and distinguished subsets of weights of an arbitrary highest weight module over a complex semisimple Lie algebra. These sets ${\rm wt}_J \mathbb{V}^λ$ are defined for each highest weight module $\mathbb{V}^λ$ and each subset $J$ of simple roots; we term them "standard parabolic subsets of weights". It is shown that for any highest weight module, the sets of simple roots whose corresponding standard parabolic subsets of weights are equal form intervals in the poset of subsets of the set of simple roots under containment. Moreover, we provide closed-for…
In this paper, we present a uniform formula of Lusztig's $ \mathbf{a}$-functions on classical Weyl groups. Then we obtain an efficient algorithm for the Gelfand-Kirillov dimensions of simple highest weight modules of classical Lie algebras, whose highest weight is not necessarily regular or integral. To deal with type $ D $, we prove an interesting property about domino tableaux by introducing an invariant, called the hollow tableau. As an application, the associated varieties of all the simple highest weight Harish-Chandra modules are explicitly determined, including the exceptional cases.
In this paper we study general highest weight modules $\mathbb{V}^λ$ over a complex finite-dimensional semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. We present three formulas for the set of weights of a large family of modules $\mathbb{V}^λ$, which include but are not restricted to all simple modules and all parabolic Verma modules. These formulas are direct and do not involve cancellations, and were not previously known in the literature. Our results extend the notion of the Weyl polytope to general highest weight $\mathfrak{g}$-modules $\mathbb{V}^λ$. We also show that for all simple modules, the c…
We show that the support of a simple weight module over the Virasoro algebra, which has an infinite-dimensional weight space, coincides with the weight lattice and that all non-trivial weight spaces of such module are infinite dimensional. As a corollary we obtain that every simple weight module over the Virasoro algebra, having a non-trivial finite-dimensional weight space, is a Harish-Chandra module (and hence is either a simple highest or lowest weight module or a simple module from the intermediate series). This implies positive answers to two conjectures about simple pointed and simple mi…
We classify simple weight modules with finite-dimensional weight spaces over the (centrally extended complex) Schrödinger algebra in (1+1)-dimensional space-time. Our arguments use the description of lowest weight modules by Dobrev, Doebner and Mrugalla; Mathieu's twisting functors and results of Wu and Zhu on dimensions of weight spaces in dense modules.
Let ${\mathcal W}_n$ be the Lie algebra of polynomial vector fields. We classify simple weight ${\mathcal W}_n$-modules $M$ with finite weight multiplicities. We prove that every such nontrivial module $M$ is either a tensor module or the unique simple submodule in a tensor module associated with the de Rham complex on $\mathbb C^n$.
In this paper, we generalize a result by Berman and Billig on weight modules over Lie algebras with polynomial multiplication. More precisely, we show that a highest weight module with an exp-polynomial ``highest weight'' has finite dimensional weight spaces. We also get a class of irreducible weight modules with finite dimensional weight spaces over generalized Virasoro algebras which do not occur over the classical Virasoro algebra.
Let $\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{sl}(\infty)$. We compute the annihilators of a class of simple integrable weight $\mathfrak{g}$-modules with finite-dimensional weight spaces. It is a claim of I. Dimitrov, that this class exhausts all simple integrable weight $\mathfrak{g}$-modules with finite-dimensional weight spaces. The main feature of interest is that Dimitrov's class of modules contains non highest weight modules. Here we provide another construction for these modules, which allows to apply results of [PP18] to compute such annihilators.
In this paper, all irreducible weight modules with finite dimensional weight spaces over the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra are determined. There are two different classes of them. One class is formed by simple modules of intermediate series, whose weight spaces are all 1-dimensional; the other class consists of the irreducible highest weight modules and lowest weight modules.
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a finite-dimensional simple Lie algebra over $\mathbb{C}$. A $\operatorname{Y}(\mathfrak{g})$-module is said to be weight if it is a weight $\mathfrak{g}$-module. We give a complete classification of simple weight modules for $\operatorname{Y}(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ which admits a one-dimensional weight space. We prove that there are four classes of such modules: finite, highest weight, lowest weight and dense modules. Different from the classical $\mathfrak{sl}_{2}$ representation theory, we show that there exist a class of $\operatorname{Y}(\mathfrak{sl}_{2})$ irreducible mo…
We classify all simple bounded highest weight modules of a basic classical Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak g$. In particular, our classification leads to the classification of the simple weight modules with finite weight multiplicities over all classical Lie superalgebras. We also obtain some character formulas of strongly typical bounded highest weight modules of $\mathfrak g$.
We give a general way of representing the crystal (base) corresponding to the intgrable highest weight modules of quantum Kac-Moody algebras, which is called polyhedral realizations. This is applied to describe explicitly the crystal bases of integrable highest weight modules for arbitrary rank 2 Kac-Moody algebra cases, the classical A_n-case and the affine A^{(1)}_{n-1}-case.
Let $\mathfrak g$ be a classical Lie superalgebra of type I or a Cartan-type Lie superalgebra {\bf W}$(n)$. We study weight $\mathfrak g$-modules using a method inspired by Mathieu's classification of the simple weight modules with finite weight multiplicities over reductive Lie algebras, \cite{M}. Our approach is based on the fact that every simple weight $\mathfrak g$-module with finite weight multiplicities is obtained via a composition of a twist and localization from a highest weight module. This allows us to transfer many results for category ${\cal O}$ modules to the category of weight …
Let $A_{m,n}$ be the tensor product of the Laurient polynomial algebra in $m$ even variables and the exterior algebra in $n$ odd variables over the complex field $\bC$, and the Witt superalgebra $W_{m,n}$ be the Lie superalgebra of superderivations of $A_{m,n}$. In this paper, we classify the simple weight $W_{m,n}$ modules with finite-dimensional weight spaces with respect to the standard Cartan algebra of $W_{m,0}$. Every such module is either a simple quotient of a tensor module or a module of highest weight type.
This paper classifies irreducible, integrable highest weight modules for "current Kac-Moody Algebras" with finite dimensional weight spaces. We prove that these modules turn out to be modules of appropriate direct sums of finitely many copies of Kac-Moody Lie algebras.
In this paper, we study irreducible weight modules with infinite dimensional weight spaces over the mirror-twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra $\mathcal{D}$. More precisely, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the tensor products of irreducible highest weight modules and irreducible modules of intermediates series over $\mathcal{D}$ to be irreducible are determined by using "shifting technique". This leads to a family of new irreducible weight modules over $\mathcal{D}$. Then we obtain that any two such tensor products are isomorphic if and only if the corresponding highest weight modu…
We study weight modules of the Lie algebra $W_2$ of vector fields on ${\mathbb C}^2$. A classification of all simple weight modules of $W_2$ with a uniformly bounded set of weight multiplicities is provided. To achieve this classification we introduce a new family of generalized tensor $W_n$-modules. Our classification result is an important step in the classification of all simple weight $W_n$-modules with finite weight multiplicities.
For the algebra $I_n$ of polynomial integro-differential operators over a field $K$ of characteristic zero, a classification of simple weight and generalized weight (left and right) $I_n$-modules is given. It is proven that the category of weight $I_n$-modules is semisimple. An explicit description of generalized weight $I_n$-modules is given and using it a criterion is obtained for the problem of classification of indecomposable generalized weight $I_n$-modules to be of finite representation type, tame or wild. In the tame case, a classification of indecomposable generalized weight $I_n$-modu…
We classify simple weight modules over infinite dimensional Weyl algebras and realize them using the action on certain localizations of the polynomial ring. We describe indecomposable projective and injective weight modules and deduce from this a description of blocks of the category of weight modules by quivers and relations. As a corollary we establish Koszulity for all blocks.
Using simple modules over the derivation Lie algebra $C[t]\frac{d}{d t}$ of the associative polynomial algebra $C[t]$, we construct new weight Virasoro modules with all weight spaces infinite dimensional. We determine necessary and sufficient conditions for these new weight Virasoro modules to be simple, and determine necessary and sufficient conditions for two such weight Virasoro modules to be isomorphic. If such a weight Virasoro module is not simple, we obtain all its submodules. In particular, we completely determine the simplicity and the isomorphism classes of the weight modules defined…
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a reductive Lie algebra over $\mathbb{C}$. For any simple weight module of $\mathfrak{g}$ with finite-dimensional weight spaces, we show that its Dirac cohomology is vanished unless it is a highest weight module. This completes the calculation of Dirac cohomology for simple weight modules since the Dirac cohomology of simple highest weight modules was carried out in our previous work. We also show that the Dirac index pairing of two weight modules which have infinitesimal characters agrees with their Euler-Poincaré pairing. The analogue of this result for Harish-Chandra m…
We establish a formula for the weight multiplicities of Demazure modules (in particular for highest weight representations) of a complex connected algebraic group in terms of the geometry of its Langlands dual.
In this paper, we characterize quasi-integrable modules, of nonzero level, over twisted affine Lie superalgebras. We show that quasi-integrable modules are not necessarily highest weight modules. We prove that each quasi-integrable module is parabolically induced from a cuspidal module, over a finite dimensional Lie superalgebra having a Cartan subalgebra whose corresponding root system just contain real roots; in particular, the classification of quasi-integrable modules is reduced to the known classification of cuspidal modules over such Lie superalgebras.
We show that the support of an irreducible weight module over the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra, which has an infinite dimensional weight space, coincides with the weight lattice and that all nontrivial weight spaces of such a module are infinite dimensional. As a corollary, we obtain that every irreducible weight module over the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra, having a nontrivial finite dimensional weight space, is a Harish-Chandra module (and hence is either an irreducible highest or lowest weight module or an irreducible module from the intermediate series
Let $d>1$ be an integer. In 1986, Shen defined a class of weight modules $F^α_b(V)$ over the Witt algebra $\mathcal{W}_d$ for $\a\in\C^d$, $b\in\C$, and an irreducible module $ V$ over the special linear Lie algebra $\sl_d$. In 1996, Eswara Rao determined the necessary and sufficient conditions for these modules to be irreducible when $V$ is finite dimensional. In this note, we will determine the necessary and sufficient conditions for all these modules $F^α_b(V)$ to be irreducible where $V$ is not necessarily finite dimensional. Therefore we obtain a lot of irreducible $\mathcal{W}_d$-modules…
For the algebra L= K <x, d/dx, \int> of polynomial integro-differential operators over a field K of characteristic zero, a classification of indecomposable, generalized weight L-modules of finite length is given. Each such module is an infinite dimensional uniserial module. Ext-groups are found between indecomposable generalized weight modules, it is proven that they are finite dimensional vector spaces.
Let $W_n^+$ be the Lie algebra of the Lie algebra of vector fields on $\C^n$. In this paper, we classify all simple bounded weight $W_n^+$ modules. Any such module is isomorphic to the simple quotient of a tensor module $F(P,M)=P\otimes M$ for a simple weight module $P$ over the Weyl algebra $K_n^+$ and a finite dimensional simple $\gl_n$ module $M$.
We construct explicitly a large family of Gelfand-Tsetlin modules for an arbitrary finite W-algebra of type A and establish their irreducibility. A basis of these modules is formed by the Gelfand-Tsetlin tableaux whose entries satisfy certain admissible sets of relations. Characterization and an effective method of constructing such admissible relations are given. In the case of the Yangian of gl_n we prove the sufficient condition for the irreducibility of the tensor product of two highest weight relation modules and establish irreducibility of any number of highest weight relation modules wi…
For any finite-dimensional simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ and commutative associative algebra $S$ of finite type, we give a complete classification of the simple weight modules of $\mathfrak{g}\otimes S$ with bounded weight multiplicities.
A weight module of a basic Lie superalgebra is called finite if all of its weight spaces are finite dimensional, and it is called bounded if there is a uniform bound on the dimension of a weight space. The minimum bound is called the degree of the module. For the basic Lie superalgebra D(2,1,a), we prove that every simple weight module is bounded and has degree less than or equal to 8. This bound is attained by a cuspidal module if and only if it is "typical". Atypical cuspidal modules have degree less than or equal to 6 and greater than or equal to 2.
For a twisted affine Lie superalgebra with nonzero odd part, we study {tight irreducible weight modules} with bounded weight multiplicities and show that if the action of nonzero real vectors of each affine component of the zero part is neither completely injective nor completely locally nilpotent, then these modules are parabolically induced.
In 2006, Gao and Zeng \cite{GZ} gave the free field realizations of highest weight modules over a class of extended affine Lie algebras. In the present paper, applying the technique of localization to those free field realizations, we construct a class of new weight modules over the extended affine Lie algebras. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for these modules to be irreducible. In this way, we construct free field realizations for a class of simple weight modules with infinite weight multiplicities over the extended affine Lie algebras.
This work provides the first step toward the classification of irreducible finite weight modules over twisted affine Lie superalgebras. We study all such modules whether the canonical central element acts as a nonzero multiple of the identity map or not. Moreover, we reduce the classification of some subclasses of irreducible finite weight modules to the classification of cuspidal modules of finite dimensional cuspidal superalgebras which is known by a work of Dimitrov, Mathieu and Penkov.
In the present paper, using the technique of localization, we determine the center of the quantum Schrödinger algebra $§_q$ and classify simple modules with finite-dimensional weight spaces over $§_q$, when $q$ is not a root of unity. It turns out that there are four classes of such modules: dense $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$-modules, highest weight modules, lowest weight modules, and twisted modules of highest weight modules.
It is shown that there are no simple mixed modules over the twisted N=1 Schrödinger-Neveu-Schwarz algebra, which implies that every irreducible weight module over it with a nontrivial finite-dimensional weight space, is a Harish-Chandra module.
In this article we initiate a systematic study of irreducible weight modules over direct limits of reductive Lie algebras, and in particular over the simple Lie algebras $A(\infty)$, $B(\infty)$, $C(\infty)$ and $D(\infty)$. Our main tool is the shadow method introduced recently in \cite{DMP}. The integrable irreducible modules are an important particular class and we give an explicit parametrization of the finite integrable modules which are analogues of finite-dimensional irreducible modules over reductive Lie algebras. We then introduce the more general class of pseudo highest weight module…
It is shown that the support of an irreducible weight module over the Schrödinger-Virasoro Lie algebra with an infinite-dimensional weight space, coincides with the weight lattice and that all nontrivial weight spaces of such a module are infinite-dimensional. As a side-product, it is obtained that every simple weight module over the Schrödinger-Virasoro Lie algebra with a nontrivial finite-dimensional weight space, is a Harish-Chandra module.
In this paper, we study a class of non-weight modules over the affine-Virasoro algebra of type $A_1$, which are free modules of rank one when restricted to the Cartan subalgebra (modulo center). We give the classification of such modules. Moreover, the simplicity and the isomorphism classes of these modules are determined.
In this thesis we classify modules over a Witt-type Lie algebra and superalgebra such that when considered as modules of $\mathcal{U}(\mathfrak{h})$ they are free of rank 1. We provide sufficient conditions for simplicity, and compute the action of an automorphism on the module. Lastly, we apply the weighting functor and show that the resulting modules are intermediate series modules.
In this paper we construct a new family of representations for the quantum toroidal algebras of type $A_n$, which are $\ell$-extremal in the sense of Hernandez [24]. We construct extremal loop weight modules associated to level 0 fundamental weights $\varpi_\ell$ when $n=2r+1$ is odd and $\ell=1, r+1$ or $n$. To do it, we relate monomial realizations of level 0 extremal fundamental weight crystals with integrable representations of $\mathcal{U}_q(sl_{n+1}^{tor})$, and we introduce promotion operators for the level 0 extremal fundamental weight crystals. By specializing the quantum parameter, w…
Characteristic cycles, leading term cycles, associated varieties and Harish-Chandra cells are computed for the family of highest weight Harish-Chandra modules for Sp(2n, R) having regular integral infinitesimal character.
We describe Borel and parabolic subalgebras of affine Lie superalgebras and study the Verma type modules associated to such subalgebras. We give necessary and sufficient conditions under which these modules are simple.
Characteristic cycles and leading term cycles of irreducible highest weight Harish-Chandra modules of regular integral infinitesimal character are determined. In the simply laced cases they are irreducible, but in the nonsimply laced cases they are more complicated.
The aim of this article is to find all weight modules of degree 1 of a simple complex Lie algebra that integrate to a continuous representation of a simply-connected real Lie group on some Hilbert space.
We classify all simple $W_n$-modules with finite-dimensional weight spaces. Every such module is either of a highest weight type or is a quotient of a module of tensor fields on a torus, which was conjectured by Eswara Rao. This generalizes the classical result of Mathieu on simple weight modules for the Virasoro algebra. In our proof of the classification we construct a functor from the category of cuspidal $W_n$-modules to the category of $W_n$-modules with a compatible action of the algebra of functions on a torus. We also present a new identity for certain quadratic elements in the univers…
We show that the support of an irreducible weight module over the $W$-algebra $W(2, 2)$, which has an infinite dimensional weight space, coincides with the weight lattice and that all nontrivial weight spaces of such a module are infinite dimensional. As a corollary, we obtain that every irreducible weight module over the the $W$-algebra $W(2, 2)$, having a nontrivial finite dimensional weight space, is a Harish-Chandra module (and hence is either an irreducible highest or lowest weight module or an irreducible module of the intermediate series).
An important problem in the representation theory of affine and toroidal Lie algebras is to classify all possible irreducible integrable modules with finite dimensional weight spaces. Recently the irreducible integrable modules having finite dimensional weight spaces with non-trivial central action have been classified for a more general class of Lie algebras, namely the graded Lie tori. In this paper, we classify all the irreducible integrable modules with finite dimensional weight spaces for this graded Lie tori where the central elements act trivially. Thus we ultimately obtain all the simp…
Let $U_q(\g)$ be a quantum generalized Kac-Moody algebra and let $V(Λ)$ be the integrable highest weight $U_q(\g)$-module with highest weight $Λ$. We prove that the cyclotomic Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebra $R^Λ$ provides a categorification of $V(Λ)$.
We compute the expected degree of a randomly chosen element in a basis of weight vectors in the Demazure module $V_w(Λ)$ of $\hat{sl}_2$. We obtain en passant a new proof of Sanderson's dimension formula for these Demazure modules.
We study simple non-weight ${\mathfrak{sl}}(2)$-modules which are finitely generated as ${\mathbb C}[z]$-modules. We show that they are described in terms of semilinear endomorphisms and prove that the Smith type induces a stratification on the set of these ${\mathfrak{sl}}(2)$-modules, providing thus new invariants. Moreover, we show that there is a notion of duality for these type of ${\mathfrak{sl}}(2)$-modules. Finally, we show that there are simple non-weight ${\mathfrak{sl}}(2)$-modules of arbitrary rank by constructing a whole new family of them.
Non-singular weighted surface algebras satisfy the necessary condition found in [6] for existence of cluster tilting modules. We show that any such algebra whose Gabriel quiver is bipartite, has a module satisfying the necessary ext vanishing condition. We show that it is 3-cluster tilting precisely for the non-singular triangular or spherical algebras but not for any other weighted surface algebra with bipartite Gabriel quiver.
For each integer $t>0$ and each complex simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, we determine the least dimension of an irreducible highest weight representation of $\mathfrak{g}$ whose highest weight has height $t$. As a corollary, we classify all irreducible modules whose dimension equals a product of two primes.
We give a new interpretation of representation theory of the finite-dimensional half-integer weight modules over the queer Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{q}(n)$. It is given in terms of Brundan's work of finite-dimensional integer weight $\mathfrak{q}(n)$-modules by means of Lusztig's canonical basis. Using this viewpoint we compute the characters of the finite-dimensional half-integer weight irreducible modules. For a large class of irreducible modules whose highest weights are of special types (i.e., totally connected or totally disconnected) we derive closed-form character formulas that are re…
We classify blocks of categories of weight and generalized weight modules of algebras of twisted differential operators on P^n. Necessary and sufficient conditions for these blocks to be tame and proofs that some of the blocks are Koszul are provided. We also establish equivalences of categories between these blocks and categories of bounded and generalized bounded weight sl(n+1)-modules in the cases of nonintegral and singular central character.
