We study the geodesics of charged black holes in polynomial Maxwell Lagrangians, a subclass of models within the nonlinear electrodynamics (NLED). Specifically, we consider black holes in Kruglov, power-law, and Ayon-Beato-Garcia models. Our exploration on the corresponding null bound states reveals that photon can orbit the extremal black holes in stable radii outside the corresponding horizon. The reason behind this is the well-known theorem that a photon in a NLED background propagates along its own {\it effective} geometry. This nonlinearity is able to shift the local minimum of the effective potential away from its corresponding outer horizon. For the null scattering states we obtain corrections to the weak deflection angle off the black holes. We rule out the power-law model to be physical since its deflection angle does not reduce to the Schwarzschild in the limit of the vanishing charge.
We analyzed the frequency shifts of photons emitted from massive particles that move in stable geodesics around black holes with non-linear electrodynamics. The motion of the photon is modified by an effective metric when the Einstein gravity is coupled with non-linear electrodynamics. The kinematic shifts for photons are modified by the magnetic and electric factors that make the difference between the linear and non-linear electrodynamics. As an illustration, we present the frequency shifts of the photons for black holes with non-linear electrodynamics, two magnetic black holes, and two elec…
Along the last decades, several regular black hole (BH) solutions, i.e., singularity-free BHs, have been proposed and associated to nonlinear electrodynamics models minimally coupled to general relativity. Within this context, it is of interest to study how those nonlinear-electrodynamic-based regular BHs (RBHs) would interact with their astrophysical environment. We investigate the propagation of a massless test scalar field in the background of an electrically charged RBH solution, obtained by Eloy Ayón-Beato and Alberto García. Using a numerical approach, we compute the absorption cross sec…
In this paper we present an analysis to determine the existence of singularities in spatially homogeneous anisotropic universes filled with nonlinear electromagnetic radiation. These spaces are conformal to Bianchi spaces admitting a three parameter group of motions G$_3$. For these models we study geodesic completeness. It is shown that with nonlinear electromagnetic field some of the Bianchi spaces are geodesically complete, like G$_3$IX and G$_3$VIII; however, completeness depends on the curvature of the space. When certain topology is assumed, Bianchi G$_3$IX presents geodesics that are im…
We study static, spherically symmetric black holes supported by Euler-Heisenberg theory of electrodynamics and coupled to two different modified theories of gravity. Such theories are the quadratic $f(R)$ model and Eddington-inspired Born-Infeld gravity, both formulated in metric-affine spaces, where metric and affine connection are independent fields. We find exact solutions of the corresponding field equations in both cases, characterized by mass, charge, the Euler-Heisenberg coupling parameter and the modified gravity one. For each such family of solutions, we characterize its horizon struc…
In this article, we construct exact black hole solutions with many horizons (more than number two) in the Einstein-nonlinear electrodynamic theories. In particular, we acquire the explicit expression of nonlinear electrodynamic Lagrangian for the 3-horizon black holes. Then we make the investigations of 3-horizon black holes on the horizons, the null and timelike geodesics, the Love numbers and the thermodynamics.
In this paper we review some properties for the evolving wormhole solution of Einstein equations coupled with nonlinear electrodynamics. We integrate the geodesic equations in the effective geometry obeyed by photons; we check out the weak field limit and find the traversability conditions. Then we analyze the case when the lagrangian depends on two electromagnetic invariants and it turns out that there is not a more general solution within the assumed geometry.
Comment on "Regular magnetically charged black holes from nonlinear electrodynamics: Thermodynamics, light deflection, and orbital dynamics" by Aydiner, Sucu and Sakalli
It is a well-known fact that light rays do not follow the null geodesics of the space-time in nonlinear electrodynamics; instead, they follow the null geodesics of the so-called effective space-time. Taking this into account, in this paper, we aim to discuss the possibility of distinguishing the type of charge with which the black hole is endowed, via the motion of light rays. The results show that, for any black hole being a charged solution of the field equations of general relativity coupled to the nonlinear electrodynamics, one cannot distinguish the two types of charge (magnetic or electr…
We obtain the mass parameter for a class of static and spherically symmetric regular black holes (BHs) (namely Bardeen, Hayward and Ayón-Beato-García BHs) which are solutions of Einstein's field equations coupled to nonlinear electrodynamics (NED) in terms of redshifts and blueshifts of photons emitted by geodesic particles (for instance, stars) orbiting around these BHs. The motion of photons is not governed by null geodesics for these type of spacetime geometries which reflects the direct effects of the electrodynamic nonlinearities in the photon motion; hence, an effective geometry needs to…
Here we consider isofrequency pairing of geodesic orbits that share the same three orbital frequencies associated with $Ω^{\hat{r}}$, $Ω^{\hatφ}$, and $Ω^{\hatω}$ in a particular region of parameter space around black string spacetime geometry. We study the effect arising from the extra compact spatial dimension on the isofrequency pairing of geodesic orbits and show that such orbits would occur and become in a cylindrical manner in the allowed region as particles move along the black string. We find that the effect due to the extra dimension leads to an increase in the number of the isofreque…
We construct regular rotating black hole and no-horizon spacetimes based on the recently introduced spherically symmetric generic regular black hole spacetimes related to electric or magnetic charge under nonlinear electrodynamics coupled to general relativity that for special values of the spacetime parameters reduce to the Bardeen and Hayward spacetimes. We show that the weak and strong energy conditions are violated inside the Cauchy horizons of these generic rotating black holes. We give the boundary between the rotating black hole and no-horizon spacetimes and determine the black hole hor…
A general study of the stability of equatorial circular orbits in static axially symmetric gravitating systems is presented. Important circular geodesics as the marginally stable orbit, the marginally bounded orbit and the photon orbit are analyzed. We found general expressions for the radius, specific energy, specific angular momentum and the radius of the marginally stable orbit, both for null and timelike circular geodesics. Solutions expressed in cylindrical coordinates, oblate spheroidal coordinates, and prolate spheroidal coordinates are considered. We show that all null circular orbits …
We study photon orbits within (1+2)-dimensional Einstein-power-Maxwell non-linear electrodynamics assuming a static and circularly symmetric background. An exact analytical solution to the null geodesic equations for light rays is obtained in terms of the Weierstraß function. We investigate in detail the impact of the photon energy, the electric charge of the black hole, and the integration constant (initial condition) on the shape of the orbits.
The combined effect of a strong gravitational field and electromagnetic field in the vicinity of a generic regular black hole related to non-linear electrodynamics with Maxwellian weak-field limit on the radiation flux of a hot spot orbiting the regular black hole on the Keplerian disc has been studied. The frequency shift due to the strong gravitational field and magnification of the radiation related to gravitational lensing have been calculated. We compare the flux related to the Maxwellian regular black hole to the flux of the hot spots moving with the same orbital period around standard S…
The regular Hayward model describes a non-singular black hole space-time. By analyzing the behaviors of effective potential and solving the equation of orbital motion, we investigate the time-like and null geodesics in the regular Hayward black hole space-time. Through detailed analyses of corresponding effective potentials for massive particles and photons, all possible orbits are numerically simulated. The results show that there may exist four orbital types in the time-like geodesics structure: planetary orbits, circular orbits, escape orbits and absorbing orbits. In addition, when $\ell$, …
We investigate the Plebański class of electrodynamical theories, i.e., theories of nonlinear vacuum electrodynamics that derive from a Lorentz-invariant Lagrangian (or Hamiltonian). In any such theory the light rays are the lightlike geodesics of two optical metrics that depend on the electromagnetic background field. A set of necessary and sufficient conditions is found whose fulfillment secures that the optical metrics are causal in the sense that the light rays are lightlike or timelike with respect to the underlying space-time metric. Thereupon we derive conditions on the Lagrangian, or th…
Geodesic motion has significant characteristics of space-time. We calculate the principle Lyapunov exponent (LE), which is the inverse of the instability timescale associated with this geodesics and Kolmogorov-Senai (KS) entropy for our rotating Kerr-Kiselev (KK) black hole. We have investigate the existence of stable/unstable equatorial circular orbits via LE and KS entropy for time-like and null circular geodesics. We have shown that both LE and KS entropy can be written in terms of the radial equation of innermost stable circular orbit (ISCO) for time-like circular orbit. Also, we computed …
We have developed a highly accurate numerical code capable of solving the coupled Einstein-Klein-Gordon system, in order to construct rotating boson stars in general relativity. Free fields and self-interacting fields, with quartic and sextic potentials, are considered. In particular, we present the first numerical solutions of rotating boson stars with rotational quantum number $k=3$ and $k=4$, as well as the first determination of the maximum mass of free-field boson stars with $k=2$. We have also investigated timelike geodesics in the spacetime generated by a rotating boson star for $k=1$, …
The inspiral of a stellar mass compact object falling into a massive Kerr black hole can be broken into three different regimes: An adiabatic inspiral phase, where the inspiral timescale is much larger than the orbital period; a late-time radial infall, which can be approximated as a plunging geodesic; and a regime where the body transitions from the inspiral to plunge. In earlier work, Ori and Thorne have outlined a method to compute the trajectory during this transition for a compact object in a circular, equatorial orbit. We generalize this technique to include inclination and eccentricity.
We study photon orbits in the background of $(1+3)$-dimensional static, spherically symmetric geometries. In particular, we have obtained exact analytical solutions to the null geodesic equations for light rays in terms of the Weierstraß function for space-times arising in the context of scale-dependent gravity. The trajectories in the $(x-y)$ plane are shown graphically, and we make a comparison with similar geometries arising in different contexts. The light deflection angle is computed as a function of the running parameter $ξ$, and an upper bound for the latter is obtained.
The Bardeen model describes a regular space-time, i.e. a singularity-free black hole space-time. In this paper, by analyzing the behavior of the effective potential for the particles and photons, we investigate the time-like and null geodesic structures in the space-time of Bardeen model. At the same time, all kinds of orbits, which are allowed according to the energy level corresponding to the effective potentials, are numerically simulated in detail. We find many-world bound orbits, two-world escape orbits and escape orbits in this spacetime. We also find that bound orbits precession directi…
Set of analytic solutions of the geodesic equation in a spherical conformal spacetime is presented. Solutions of this geodesics can be expressed in terms of the Weierstrass {\wp} function and the Kleinian σ function. Using conserved energy and angular momentum we can characterize the different orbits. Also, considering parametric diagrams and effective potentials, we plot some possible orbits. Moreover, with the help of analytical solutions, we investigate the light deflection for such an escape orbit.
The expressions for the quasinormal modes (QNMs) of black holes with nonlinear electrodynamics, calculated in the eikonal approximation, are presented. In the eikonal limit QNMs of black holes are determined by the parameters of the circular null geodesics. The unstable circular null orbits are derived from the effective metric that is the one obeyed by light rays under the influence of a nonlinear electromagnetic field. As an illustration we calculate the QNMs of four nonlinear electromagnetic black holes, two singular and two regular, namely from Euler-Heisenberg and Born-Infeld theories, fo…
In this article, we considered the strong field approximation of nonlinear electrodynamics black hole and constructed its rotating counterpart by applying the modified Newman-Janis algorithm. The corresponding metric function in the strong field limit of the static black hole is identified in order to study the radius of photon sphere. However, the metric function for the rotating counterpart in the strong field limit is considered in order to study the horizon radius w.r.t spin parameter. We considered the Hamilton-Jacobi method to derive the geodesic equations for photon and constructed an o…
Circular null geodesic orbits, in extremal Reissner-Nordstrom spacetimes, are examined with regard to their stability, and compared with similar orbits in the near-extremal situation. Extremization of the effective potential for null circular orbits shows the existence of a stable circular geodesic in the extremal spacetime, precisely {\it on} the event horizon, which coincides with its null geodesic generator. Such an orbit also emerges as a global minimum of the effective potential for circular {\it timelike} orbits. This type of geodesic is of course absent in the corresponding near-extrema…
The complete analytical solutions of the geodesic equations in Kerr-de Sitter and Kerr-anti-de Sitter space-times are presented. They are expressed in terms of Weierstrass elliptic p, zeta, and sigma functions as well as hyperelliptic Kleinian sigma functions restricted to the one-dimensional theta-divisor. We analyze the dependency of timelike geodesics on the parameters of the space-time metric and the test-particle and compare the results with the situation in Kerr space-time with vanishing cosmological constant. Furthermore, we systematically can find all last stable spherical and circular…
We investigate the existence and stability of both the timelike and null circular orbits for a (2+1) dimensional charged BTZ black hole in Einstein-nonlinear Maxwell gravity with a negative cosmological constant. The stability analysis of orbits are performed to study the possibility of chaos in geodesic motion for a special case of black hole so-called conformally invariant Maxwell spacetime. The computations of both proper time Lyapunov exponent ($λ_{p}$) and coordinate time Lyapunov exponent ($λ_{c}$) are useful to determine the stability of these circular orbits. We observe the behavior of…
We consider a traversable wormhole solution of Einstein's gravity conformally coupled to a massless scalar field, a solution derived by Barcelo and Visser based on the JNWW spacetime. We study the geodesic motion of time-, light- and space-like particles in this spacetime. We solve the equations of motion analytically in terms of the Weierstraß\ functions and discuss all possible orbit types and their parameter dependence. Interestingly, bound orbits occur for time-like geodesics only in one of the two worlds. Moreover, under no conditions there exist time-like two world bound orbits.
In this note we examine the circular time-like geodesics near a spherically symmetric dilaton black hole, described using the exact solution for a static charged black hole found by Gibbons and Maeda and, independently, by Garfinkle, Horowitz and Strominger. The existence and stability of the circular orbits are analysed using the effective potential of a free material test particle moving on time-like geodesic near this black hole. We determine the radius of the innermost stable circular orbit, the radius of the shortest circular orbit and compare our results with those obtained by other auth…
We investigate the scattering properties of a massless scalar field in the background of a charged Ayón-Beato-García regular black hole solution. Using a numerical approach, we compute the differential scattering cross section for arbitrary values of the scattering angle and of the incident wave frequency. We compare our results with those obtained via the classical geodesic scattering of massless particles, as well as with the semiclassical glory approximation, and show that they present an excellent agreement in the corresponding limits. We also show that Ayón-Beato-García and Reissner-Nords…
Geodesic orbit equations in the Schwarzschild geometry of general relativity reduce to ordinary conic sections of Newtonian mechanics and gravity for material particles in the non-relativistic limit. On the contrary, geodesic orbit equations for a proper spatial submanifold of Schwarzschild metric at any given coordinate-time correspond to an unphysical gravitational repulsion in the non-relativistic limit. This demonstrates at a basic level the centrality and critical role of relativistic time and its intimate pseudo-Riemannian connection with space. Correspondingly, a commonly popularized de…
The properties of modified Hayward black hole space-time can be investigated through analyzing the particle geodesics. By means of a detailed analysis of the corresponding effective potentials for a massive particle, we find all possible orbits which are allowed by the energy levels. The trajectories of orbits are plotted by solving the equation of orbital motion numerically. We conclude that whether there is an escape orbit is associated with $b$ (angular momentum). The properties of orbital motion are related to $b$, $α$ ($α$ is associated with the time delay) and $β$ ($β$ is related to 1-lo…
Three well known exact regular solutions of general relativity (GR) coupled to nonlinear electrodynamics (NED), namely the Maxwellian, Bardeen and Hayward regular spacetimes, which can describe either a regular black hole or a geometry without horizons, have been considered. Relaxation times for the scalar, electromagnetic (EM) and gravitational perturbations of black holes (BHs) and no-horizon spacetimes have been estimated in comparison with the ones of the Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordström (RN) spacetimes. It has been shown that the considered geometries in GR coupled to the NED have nev…
In a recent paper (Phys. Dark Univ. {\bf 31}, 100744 (2021)) it has been obtained new static black hole solutions with primary hairs by the Gravitational Decoupling. In this work we either study the geodesic motion of massive and massless particles around those solutions and restrict the values of the primary hairs by observational data. In particular, we obtain the effective potential, the innermost stable circular orbits, the marginally bounded orbit, and the periastron advance for time--like geodesics. In order to restrict the values taken by the primary hairs we explore their relationship …
We study the properties of the null geodesics of four-dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet black holes surrounded by quintessence matter. Due to the quintessence correction, we discuss the radial and non-radial geodesics. For the case of non-radial geodesics we obtain the effective potential, the photon sphere and the impact parameter associated to the null geodesics in details. We analyze the different possible orbits of massless particles (i.e. photons) such as unstable circular orbits and unbounded orbits and investigate the role of the Gauss-Bonnet coupling $α$ and the quintessence parameter …
The paper considers the nonlinear electrodynamics type model and its relation with relativistic hydrodynamics with no dissipation (including string and membrane hydrodynamics). We are able to convert arbitrary flux of fluid to the family of geodesics by the conformal transformation of metric. The conditions of transformation of nonlinear electrodynamics solution to linear electrodynamics solution by changing of metric are presented.
We study the dynamics of test particle and stability of circular geodesics in the gravitational field of a non-commutative geometry inspired Schwarzschild black hole spacetime (NCSBH). The coordinate time Lyapunov exponent ($λ_{c}$) is crucial to investigate the stability of equatorial circular geodesics of massive and massless test particles. The stability or instability of circular orbits are discussed by analysing the variation of Lyapunov exponent with radius of these orbits for different values of non-commutative parameter ($α$). In the case of null circular orbits, the instability expone…
We study the existence and stability criteria for circular geodesics of spherically symmetric tidal charged black hole~(BH). We investigate in details the equatorial causal geodesics of the tidal charged BH in comparison with spherically symmetric Reissner-Nordström BH spacetime. We particularly focused on both the null circular geodesics and time-like circular geodesics. Using the effective potential diagram, we have compared the geodesic structure between two spacetimes. We have derived the ISCO~(innermost stable circular orbit), MBCO~(marginally bound circular orbit) and CPO~(circular photo…
Nonlinear electrodynamic (NLED) theories are well-motivated for their extensions to classical electrodynamics in the strong field regime, and have been extensively investigated in seeking for regular black hole solutions. In this paper, we focus on two spherically symmetric and static black hole solutions based on two types of NLED models: the Euler-Heisenberg NLED model and the Bronnikov NLED model, and calculate the weak deflection angle of light by these two black holes with the help of the Gauss-Bonnet theorem. We investigate the effects of the one-loop corrections to quantum electrodynami…
We present exact black hole solutions endowed with magnetic charge coming from exponential and logarithmic nonlinear electrodynamics (NLED). Classically, we analyze the null and timelike geodesics, all of which contain both the bound and the scattering orbits. Using the effective geometry formalism, we found that photon can have nontrivial stable (both circular and non-circular) bound orbits. The noncircular bound orbits for the one-horizon case mostly take the form of precessed ellipse. For the extremal and three-horizon cases we find many-world orbits where photon crosses the outer horizon b…
General relativistic spin-orbit interaction leads to the quasiresonant oscillation of the gyroscope mass center along the orbital normal. The beating amplitude does not include the speed of light and equals the ratio of the intrinsic momentum of the gyroscope to its orbital momentum. The modulation frequency equals the angular velocity of the geodetic precession that prevents the oscillation from resonance. The oscillation represents the precession of the gyroscope orbital momentum. Within an acceptable time the oscillation amplitude reaches the values that are amenable to being analyzed exper…
Recent interest on studying possible violations of the Equivalence Principle has led to the development of space satellite missions testing it for bodies moving on circular orbits around Earth. This experiment establishes that the validity of the Equivalence Principle is independent of the composition of bodies. However, the internal degrees of freedom of the bodies (such as spin) were not taken into account. In this work, it is shown exactly that the circular orbit motion of test bodies does present a departure from geodesic motion when spin effects are not negligible. Using a Lagrangian theo…
In this article the geodesic motion of test particles in the spacetime of a supersymmetric AdS$_5$ black hole is studied. The equations of motion are derived and solved in terms of the Weierstrass $\wp$, $σ$ and $ζ$ functions. Effective potentials and parametric diagrams are used to analyze and characterize timelike, lightlike and spacelike particle motion and a list of possible orbit types is given. Furthermore, various plots of orbits are presented.
