We study self-expanding solutions $M^m\subset\mathbb{R}^{n}$ of the mean curvature flow. One of our main results is, that complete mean convex self-expanding hypersurfaces are products of self-expanding curves and flat subspaces, if and only if the function $|A|^2/|H|^2$ attains a local maximum, where $A$ denotes the second fundamental form and $H$ the mean curvature vector of $M$. If the pricipal normal $ξ=H/|H|$ is parallel in the normal bundle, then a similar result holds in higher codimension for the function $|A^ξ|^2/|H|^2$, where $A^ξ$ is the second fundamental form with respect to $ξ$. As a corollary we obtain that complete mean convex self-expanders attain strictly positive scalar curvature, if they are smoothly asymptotic to cones of non-negative scalar curvature. In particular, in dimension $2$ any mean convex self-expander that is asymptotic to a cone must be strictly convex.
In this paper, we mainly study immersed self-expander hypersurfaces in Euclidean space whose mean curvatures have some linear growth controls. We discuss the volume growths and the finiteness of the weighted volumes. We prove some theorems that characterize the hyperplanes through the origin as self-expanders. We estimate upper bound of the bottom of the spectrum of the drifted Laplacian. We also give the upper and lower bounds for the bottom of the spectrum of the $L$-stability operator and discuss the $L$-stability of some special self-expanders. Besides, we prove that the surfaces $Γ\times\…
In [19], we prove that if an entire, spacelike, convex hypersurface $\mathcal{M}_{u_0}$ has bounded principal curvatures, then the $σ_k^{1/α}$ (power of $σ_k$) curvature flow starting from $\mathcal{M}_{u_0}$ admits a smooth convex solution $u$ for $t>0.$ Moreover, after rescaling, the flow converges to a convex self-expander $\tilde{\mathcal{M}}=\{(x, \tilde{u}(x))\mid x\in\mathbb{R}^n\}$ that satisfies $σ_k(κ[\tilde{\mathcal{M}}])=(-\left<X_0, ν_0\right>)^α.$ Unfortunately, the existence of self-expander for power of $σ_k$ curvature flow in Minkowski space has not been studied before. In thi…
We derive the equation of self-similar solutions to mean curvature flow based on the generalized Lawson-Osserman cone and prove the existence of self-expanders by modifying the theory of equilibria in the autonomous system. In particular, those self-expanders are unique if a local assumption is given.
$λ$-self-expanders $Σ$ in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ are the solutions of the isoperimetric problem with respect to the same weighted area form as in the study of the self-expanders. In this paper, we mainly extend the results on self-expanders which we obtained in \cite{ancari2020volum} to $λ$-self-expanders. We prove some results that characterize the hyperplanes, spheres and cylinders as $λ$-self-expanders. We also discuss the area growths and the finiteness of the weighted areas under the control of the growth of the mean curvature.
We derive a sharp lower bound for the scalar curvature of non-flat and non-compact expanding gradient Ricci soliton provided that the scalar curvature is non-negative and the potential function is proper. We also give an upper bound for the scalar curvature of noncompact expander when the Ricci curvature is nonpositive and the potential function is proper. We then provide a sufficient condition for the scalar curvature of expanding soliton being nonnegative. We also estimate the curvature of expanding soliton in dimensions three and four. As an application, we prove a gap theorem on three dime…
In this paper, we study the $σ_k$ curvature flow of noncompact spacelike hypersurfaces in Minkowski space. We prove that if the initial hypersurface satisfies certain conditions, then the flow exists for all time. Moreover, we show that after rescaling, the flow converges to a self-expander.
In this paper, we study fully nonlinear curvature flows of noncompact spacelike hypersurfaces in Minkowski space. We prove that if the initial hypersurface satisfies certain conditions, then the flow exists for all time. Moreover, we show that after rescaling the flow converges to the future timelike hyperboloid, which is a self-expander.
In this article we study the breathers of the mean curvature flow in the Euclidean space. A breather is a solution to the mean curvature flow which repeats itself up to isometry and scaling once in a while. We prove several no breather theorems in the noncompact category, that is, under certain conditions, a breather of the mean curvature flow must be a solitonic solution (self-shrinker, self-expander, or translator).
As is well known, self-similar solutions to the mean curvature flow, including self-shrinkers, translating solitons and self-expanders, arise naturally in the singularity analysis of the mean curvature flow. Recently, Guo \cite{Guo} proved that $n$-dimensional compact self-shrinkers in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ with scalar curvature bounded from above or below by some constant are isometric to the round sphere $\mathbb{S}^n(\sqrt{n})$, which implies that $n$-dimensional compact self-shrinkers in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ with constant scalar curvature are isometric to the round sphere $\mathbb{S}^n(\sqrt{n}…
In this paper we prove that two-dimensional translating solitons in $\mathbb{R}^3$ with finite $L$-index are homeomorphic to a plane or a cylinder and that a two-dimensional self-expander with finite $L$-index and sub exponential weighted volume growth has finite topology. We also prove that translating solitons and self-expanders have finite topology, provided the bottom of the spectrum of the $L$-stability operator is bounded from below and their weighted volume have subexponential growth.
We show existence of ancient solutions to the rescaled mean curvature flow starting from a given asymptotically conical self-expander. These are examples of mean curvature flows coming out of cones that are not self-similar. We also show a strong uniqueness theorem when the cone is generic and use it to classify mean curvature flows coming out of generic cones of small entropy in low dimensions.
