In this paper, we study the existence and multiplicity of weak solutions for a general class of elliptic equations (\mathscr{P}_λ) in a smooth bounded domain, driven by a nonlocal integrodifferential operator \mathscr{L}_{\mathcal{A}K} with Dirichlet boundary conditions involving variable exponents without Ambrosetti and Rabinowitz type growth conditions. Using different versions of the Mountain Pass Theorem, as well as, the Fountain Theorem and Dual Fountain Theorem with Cerami condition, we obtain the existence of weak solutions for the problem (\mathscr{P}_λ) and we show that the problem treated has at least one nontrivial solution for any parameter λ>0 small enough as well as that the solution blows up, in the fractional Sobolev norm, as λ\to 0. Moreover, for the case sublinear, by imposing some additional hypotheses on the nonlinearity f(x,\cdot), by using a new version of the symmetric Mountain Pass Theorem due to Kajikiya [36], we obtain the existence of infinitely many weak solutions which tend to be zero, in the fractional Sobolev norm, for any parameter λ>0. As far as we know, the results of this paper are new in the literature.
We introduce tow assumptions weaker than the classical Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz and the subcritical polynomial growth conditions to obtain the Palais-Smale Condition. Therefore, we improve the Ambrosetti- Rabinowitz existence theorems. Also, we prove some existence results under a weaken subcritical polynomial growth conditions where the nonlinearity does not satisfy the super-quadratic condition and even it does not have any limits at infinity.
We consider a class of pseudo-relativistic Hartree equations in presence of general nonlinearities not satisfying the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. Using variational methods based on critical point theory, we show the existence of two non trivial signed solutions, one positive and one negative.
We consider a fractional double phase Robin problem involving variable order and variable exponents. The nonlinearity $f$ is a Carathéodory function satisfying some hypotheses which do not include the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz type condition. By using Variational methods, we investigate the multiplicity of solutions.
In this article we present some results on the existence of positive and ground state solutions for the nonlinear Klein-Gordon-Maxwell equations. We introduce a general nonlinearity with subcritical and supercritical growth which does not require the usual Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. The proof is based on variational methods and perturbation arguments.
In this paper we study the existence of solution for a class of elliptic problem in whole $\mathbb{R}^N$ without the well known Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. Here, we do not assume any monotonicity condition on $f(s)/s$ for $s>0$.
We show the existence of nontrivial solutions for a class of highly quasilinear problems in which the governing operators depend on the unknown function. By using a suitable variational setting and a weak version of the Cerami-Palais-Smale condition, we establish the desired result without assuming that the nonlinear source satisfies the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition.
In this article we study the existence of weak solution, existence of ground state solution using Nehari manifold and existence of infinitely many solutions using Fountain theorem and Dual fountain theorem for a class of doubly nonlocal Kirchhoff-Choquard type equations involving the variable-order fractional $p(\cdot)-$ Laplacian operator. Here the nonlinearity does not satisfy the well known Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz type condition.
In this note we prove the existence of radially symmetric solutions for a class of fractional Schrödinger equation in (\mathbb{R}^N) of the form {equation*} \slap u + V(x) u = g(u), {equation*} where the nonlinearity $g$ does not satisfy the usual Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. Our approach is variational in nature, and leans on a Pohozaev identity for the fractional laplacian.
In this paper we establish, using variational methods combined with the Moser-Trudinger inequality, existence and multiplicity of weak solutions for a class of critical fractional elliptic equations with exponential growth without a Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz-type condition. The interaction of the nonlinearities with the spectrum of the fractional operator will used to study the existence and multiplicity of solutions. The main technical result proves that a local minimum in $C_{s}^0(\overlineΩ)$ is also a local minimum in $W^{s,p}_0$ for nonlinearities with exponential growth.
We consider the existence of solutions of the following $p(x)$-Laplacian Dirichlet problem without the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition: $-\mbox{div}(|\nabla u|^{p(x)-2}\nabla u)=f(x,u) \text{ in }Ω,$ and $u=0,\text{ on }\partial Ω.$ We give a new growth condition and we point out its importance for checking the Cerami compactness condition. We prove the existence of solutions of the above problem via the critical point theory, and also provide some multiplicity properties. Our results extend previous work by Q. Zhang and C. Zhao, Existence of strong solutions of a $p(x)$-Laplacian Dirichlet pr…
We carry out an investigation of the existence of infinitely many solutions to a fractional $p$-Kirchhoff type problem with a singularity and a superlinear nonlinearity with a homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition. Further the solution(s) will be proved to be bounded and a weak comparison principle has also been proved. A {\it `$C^1$ versus $W_0^{s,p}$'} analysis has also been discussed.
We consider a non-local Shrödinger problem driven by the fractional Orlicz g-Laplace operator as follows \begin{equation}\label{PP} (-\triangle_{g})^αu+g(u)=K(x)f(x,u),\ \ \text{in}\ \mathbb{R}^{d},\tag{P} \end{equation} where $d\geq 3,\ (-\triangle_{g})^α$ is the fractional Orlicz g-Laplace operator, $f:\mathbb{R}^d\times\mathbb{R}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a measurable function and $K$ is a positive continuous function. Employing the Nehari manifold method and without assuming the well-known Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz and differentiability conditions on the non-linear term $f$, we prove that the …
In this paper, we consider the following quasilinear elliptic problem with potential $$(P) \begin{cases} -\mbox{div}(ϕ(x,|\nabla u|)\nabla u)+ V(x)|u|^{q(x)-2}u= f(x,u) & \ \ \mbox{ in }Ω, u=0 & \ \ \mbox{ on } \partialΩ, \end{cases}$$ where $Ω$ is a smooth bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^{N}$ ($N\geq 2$), $V$ is a given function in a generalized Lebesgue space $L^{s(x)}(Ω)$, and $f(x,u)$ is a Carathéodory function satisfying suitable growth conditions. Using variational arguments, we study the existence of weak solutions for $(P)$ in the framework of Musielak-Sobolev spaces. The main difficulty…
In this paper, we prove the existence of infinitely many solutions for a class of quasilinear elliptic $m(x)$-polyharmonic Kirchhoff equations where the nonlinear function has a quasicritical growth at infinity and without assuming the Ambrosetti and Rabinowitz type condition. The new aspect consists in employing the notion of a Schauder basis to verify the geometry of the symmetric mountain pass theorem. Furthermore, for the case $m(x)\equiv Const$, we introduce a positive quantity $λ_M$ similar to the first eigenvalue of the $m$-polyharmonic operator to find a mountain pass solution, and als…
We investigate the existence and multiplicity of solutions to the following $p(x)$-Laplacian problem in $\mathbb{R}^{N}$ via critical point theory \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{array}{l} -\bigtriangleup _{p(x)}u+V(x)\left\vert u\right\vert ^{p(x)-2}u=f(x,u),\text{ in } \mathbb{R}^{N}, \\ u\in W^{1,p(\cdot )}(\mathbb{R}^{N}). \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} We propose a new set of growth conditions which matches the variable exponent nature of the problem. Under this new set of assumptions, we manage to verify the Cerami compactness condition. Therefore, we succeed in proving the existen…
Let $Ω$ be a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^N$. In this paper, we consider the following nonlinear elliptic equation of $N$-Laplacian type: $-Δ_{N}u=f(x,u)$ where $u\in W_{0}^{1,2}\{0}$ when $f$ is of subcritical or critical exponential growth. This nonlinearity is motivated by the Moser-Trudinger inequality. In fact, we will prove the existence of a nontrivial nonnegative solution to the above equation without the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz $(AR)$ condition. Earlier works in the literature on the existence of nontrivial solutions to $N-$Laplacian in $\mathbb{R}^{N}$ when the nonlinear term $f$ has …
The purpose of this paper is to study $T$-periodic solutions to [(-Δ_{x}+m^{2})^{s}-m^{2s}]u=f(x,u) &\mbox{in} (0,T)^{N} (P) u(x+Te_{i})=u(x) &\mbox{for all} x \in \R^{N}, i=1, \dots, N where $s\in (0,1)$, $N>2s$, $T>0$, $m> 0$ and $f(x,u)$ is a continuous function, $T$-periodic in $x$ and satisfying a suitable growth assumption weaker than the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. The nonlocal operator $(-Δ_{x}+m^{2})^{s}$ can be realized as the Dirichlet to Neumann map for a degenerate elliptic problem posed on the half-cylinder $\mathcal{S}_{T}=(0,T)^{N}\times (0,\infty)$. By using a variant of …
We are interested in the existence of solutions for the following fractional $p(x,\cdot)$-Kirchhoff type problem $$ \left\{\begin{array}{ll} M \, \left(\displaystyle\int_{Ω\times Ω} \ \displaystyle{\frac{|u(x)-u(y)|^{p(x,y)}}{p(x,y) \ |x-y|^{N+p(x,y)s}}} \ dx \, dy\right)(-Δ)^{s}_{p(x,\cdot)}u = f(x,u), \quad x\in Ω, \\ \\ u= 0, \quad x\in \partialΩ, \end{array}\right.$$ where $Ω\subset\mathbb{R}^{N}$, $N\geq 2$ is a bounded smooth domain, $s\in(0,1),$ $p: \overlineΩ\times \overlineΩ \rightarrow (1, \infty)$, $(-Δ)^{s}_{p(x,\cdot)}$ denotes the $p(x,\cdot)$-fractional Laplace operator, $M: [0,…
In this article, we study the existence of homoclinic orbits for the first-order Hamiltonian system {equation*} J\dot{u}(t)+\nabla H(t,u(t))=0,\quad t\in\mathbb{R}. {equation*} Under the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz's superquadraticy condition, or no Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz's superquadracity condition, we present two results on the existence of infinitely many large energy homoclinic orbits when $H$ is even in $u$. We apply the generalized (variant) fountain theorems due to the author and Colin. Under no Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz's superquadracity condition, we also obtain the existence of a ground state h…
In this paper, we study the existence and multiplicity of weak solutions to a general type of Kirchhoff equations in magnetic fractional Orlicz-Sobolev spaces. Specifically, we appeal to Critical Point Theory to prove the existence of non-trivial solutions under the so-called Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. We also state the existence of ground-state solutions. Moreover, multiplicity results which yield the existence of an unbounded sequence of solutions are also provided. Finally, we show existence under a weak-type Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition formulated in the framework of Orlicz spaces…
In this paper, we deal with the existence and multiplicity of solutions to the nonuniformly elliptic equation of the N-Lapalcian type with a potential and a nonlinear term of critical exponential growth and satisfying the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. In spite of a possible failure of the Palais-Smale compactness condition, in this article we apply minimax method to obtain the weak solution to such an equation. In particular, in the case of $N-$Laplacian, using the minimization and the Ekeland variational principle, we obtain multiplicity of weak solutions. Finally, we will prove the above …
In this paper, we are concerned with the ground state solutions of nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equation involving critical growth. Without Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition and monotonicity condition on the nonlinearity, we get the existence of ground state solutions of such equation when the potential $V(x)$ is not a constant and not radial.
We apply the Fountain theorem to a class of nonlinear Dirac-Laplace equation on compact spin manifold. We show the standard Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition can be replaced by a more natural super-quadratic condition that is enough to obtain the Cerami condition under certain conditions. Multiple solutions of nonlinear Dirac-Laplace equation are obtained in this note.
We develop some properties of the $p-$Neumann derivative for the fractional $p-$Laplacian in bounded domains with general $p>1$. In particular, we prove the existence of a diverging sequence of eigenvalues and we introduce the evolution problem associated to such operators, studying the basic properties of solutions. Finally, we study a nonlinear problem with source in absence of the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition.
We consider a double phase Robin problem with a Carathéodory nonlinearity. When the reaction is superlinear but without satisfying the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition, we prove an existence theorem. When the reaction is resonant, we prove a multiplicity theorem. Our approach is Morse theoretic, using the notion of homological local linking.
We give a linking theorem that strengthens and unifies some many minimax theorems including Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz ``mountain pass theorem'', Rabinowitz ``multidimensional mountain pass theorem'', Rabinowitz ``saddle point theorem'' and Silva's variants of these results. We focus our attention especially on ``the limiting case'', known to be true for the mountain pass principle, where some information on the location of the critical points is given. Two forms of this theorem are given: the first one is established via a deformation lemma and we use Ekeland's variational principle to get the sec…
We apply a recently obtained three critical points theorem of B. Ricceri to prove the existence of at least three solutions of certain two-parameters Dirichlet problems defined on the Sierpinski gasket. We also show the existence of at least three nonzero solutions of certain perturbed two-parameters Dirichlet problems on the Sierpinski gasket, using both the mountain pass theorem of Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz and that of Pucci-Serrin.
This paper deals with some classes of Kirchhoff type problems on a double phase setting and with nonlinear boundary conditions. Under general assumptions, we provide multiplicity results for such problems in the case when the perturbations exhibit a suitable behavior in the origin and at infinity, or when they do not necessarily satisfy the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. To this aim, we combine variational methods, truncation arguments and topological tools.
In this paper, we study the existence of non-negative non-trivial solutions for a class of double-phase problems where the source term is a Caratheodory function that satisfies the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz type condition in the framework of Sobolev-Orlicz spaces with variable exponents in complete compact Riemannian n-manifolds. Our approach is based on the Nehari manifold and some variational techniques. Furthermore, the Hölder inequality, continuous and compact embedding results are proved.
We consider nonlinear problems governed by the fractional $p-$Laplacian in presence of nonlocal Neumann boundary conditions. We face two problems. First: the $p-$superlinear term may not satisfy the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. Second, and more important: although the topological structure of the underlying functional reminds the one of the linking theorem, the nonlocal nature of the associated eigenfunctions prevents the use of such a classical theorem. For these reasons, we are led to adopt another approach, relying on the notion of linking over cones.
In this paper we are going to show the existence of a nontrivial solution to the following model problem, $\{\begin{array}{lll} - Δ(u) = 2uln(1+u^2)+\frac{|u|^2}{1+u^2}2u+usin(u) {a.e. on} Ω \frac{\partial u}{\partial η} = 0 {a.e. on} \partial Ω. \end{array} \}$ As one can see the right hand side is superlinear. But we can not use an Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition in order to obtain that the corresponding energy functional satisfies (PS) condition. However, it follows that the energy functional satisfies the Cerami (PS) condition.
We consider a nonlinear eigenvalue problem under Robin boundary conditions in a domain with (possibly noncompact) smooth boundary. The problem involves a weighted p-Laplacian operator and subcritical nonlinearities satisfying Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz type conditions. Using Morse theory and a cohomological local splitting as in Degiovanni et al. [5], we prove the existence of a nontrivial weak solution for all (real) values of the eigenvalue parameter. Our result is new even in the semilinear case p = 2 and complements some recent results obtained in Autuori et al. [1].
By using variational methods we investigate the existence of T-periodic solutions to [(-Delta_x + m^2)^s -m^(2s)]u= f(x,u) in (0,T)^N u(x+Te_i)=u(x) for all x in R^N, i=1,...,N where s in (0,1), N>2s, T>0, m>=0 and f(x,u) is a continuous function, T-periodic in x, verifying the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition and a polynomial growth at rate p in (1, (N+2s)/(N-2s)).
In this paper we are going to show the existence of a nontrivial solution to the following model problem, \begin{equation*} \left\{\begin{array}{lll} -Δ(u) = 2uln(1+u^2)+\frac{|u|^2}{1+u^2}2u+u(sin(u)-cos(u)) \mbox{a.e. on } Ω\frac{\partial u}{\partial η} = 0 {a.e. on} \partial Ω. \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} As one can see the right hand side is superlinear. But we can not use an Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition in order to obtain that the corresponding energy functional satisfies (PS) condition. However, it follows that the energy functional satisfies the Cerami (PS) condition.
We are concerned with the existence of ground states for nonlinear Choquard equations involving a critical nonlinearity in the sense of Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev. Our result complements previous results by Moroz and Van Schaftingen where the subcritical case was considered. Then, we focus on the existence of semi-classical states and by using a truncation argument approach, we establish the existence and concentration of single peak solutions concentrating around minima of the Schrödinger potential, as the Planck constant goes to zero. The result is robust in the sense that the nonlinearity is …
We obtain multiplicity results for a class of first-order superquadratic Hamiltonian systems and a class of indefinite superquadratic elliptic systems which lead to the study of strongly indefinite functionals. There is no assumption to the effect that the nonlinear terms have to satisfy the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz superquadratic condition. To establish the existence of solutions, a new version of the symmetric mountain pass theorem for strongly indefinite functionals is presented in this paper. This theorem is subsequently applied to deal with cases where all the Palais-Smale sequences of the e…
The present study is concerned with the following Schrödinger-Poisson system involving critical nonlocal term with general nonlinearity: $$ \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} -Δu+V(x)u- ϕ|u|^3u= f(u), & x\in\mathbb{R}^3, -Δϕ= |u|^5, & x\in\mathbb{R}^3,\\ \end{array} \right. $$ Under certain assumptions on non-constant $V(x)$, the existence of a positive least energy solution is obtained by using some new analytical skills and Pohožaev type manifold. In particular, the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz type condition or monotonicity assumption on the nonlinearity is not necessary.
This paper addresses the Mountain Pass Theorem for locally Lipschitz functions on finite-dimensional vector spaces in terms of tangencies. Namely, let $f \colon \mathbb R^n \to \mathbb R$ be a locally Lipschitz function with a mountain pass geometry. Let $$c := \inf_{γ\in \mathcal A}\max_{t\in[0,1]}f(γ(t)),$$ where $\mathcal{A}$ is the set of all continuous paths joining $x^*$ to $y^*.$ We show that either $c$ is a critical value of $f$ or $c$ is a tangency value at infinity of $f.$ This reduces to the Mountain Pass Theorem of Ambrosetti and Rabinowitz in the case where the function $f$ is def…
We are concerned with the following Kirchhoff type equation $$-\varepsilon^2 M \left(\varepsilon^{2-N} \int_{\mathbb{R}^N} | \nabla u|^2\, \mathrm{d} x\right) Δu+V(x)u = f(u),\ x \in \mathbb{R}^N,\ \ N\ge2, $$ where $M \in C(\mathbb{R}^+,\mathbb{R}^+)$, $V\in C(\mathbb{R}^N,\mathbb{R}^+)$ and $f(s)$ is of critical growth. In this paper, we construct a localized bound state solution concentrating at a local minimum of $V$ as $\varepsilon\to 0$ under certain conditions on $f(s)$, $M$ and $V$. In particular, the monotonicity of $f(s)/s$ and the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition are not required.
In this paper, we are concerned with the existence and concentration phenomena of solutions for the following singularly perturbed fractional Schrödinger problem \begin{align*} \varepsilon^{2s}(-Δ)^su+V(x)u=f(u) \ \ \ \mbox{in} \ \ \ \mathbb{R}^N, \end{align*} where $N>2s$ and the nonlinearity $f$ has critical growth. By using the variational approach, we construct a localized bound-state solution concentrating around an isolated component of the positive minimum point of $V$ as $\varepsilon\rightarrow 0$. Our result improves the study made in X. He and W. Zou ({\it Calc. Var. Partial Differen…
The aim of this paper is to study a concentration-compactness principle for inhomogeneous fractional Sobolev space $H^s (\mathbb{R}^N)$ for $0<s\leq N/2.$ As an application we establish Palais-Smale compactness for the Lagrangian associated to the fractional Schrödinger equation $(-Δ)^{s} u + a(x)u= f(x,u)$ for $0<s<1.$ Moreover, we prove the existence of nontrivial nonnegative solutions to this class of elliptic equations for a wide class of possible singular potentials $a(x)$; not necessarily bounded away from zero. We consider possible oscillatory nonlinearities and that may not satisfy the…
It is established existence of bound and ground state solutions for quasilinear elliptic systems driven by (ϕ1, ϕ2)-Laplacian operator. The main feature here is to consider quasilinear elliptic systems involving both nonsingular nonlinearities combined with indefinite potentials and singular cases perturbed by superlinear and subcritical couple terms. These prevent us to use arguments based on Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition and variational methods for differentiable functionals. By exploring the Nehari method and doing a fine analysis on the fibering map associated, we get estimates that allo…
We study the question of the existence of infinitely many weak solutions for nonlocal equations of fractional Laplacian type with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary data, in presence of a superlinear term. Starting from the well-known Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition, we consider different growth assumptions on the nonlinearity, all of superlinear type. We obtain three different existence results in this setting by using the Fountain Theorem, which extend some classical results for semilinear Laplacian equations to the nonlocal fractional setting.
We study the existence and non-existence of nontrivial weak solution of $$ {Δ^2u-μ\frac{u}{|x|^{4}} = \frac{|u|^{q_β-2}u}{|x|^β}+|u|^{q-2}u\quad\textrm{in ${\mathbb R}^N$,}} $$ where $N\geq 5$, $q_β=\frac{2(N-β)}{N-4}$, $0<β<4$, $1<q\leq 2^{**}$ and $μ<μ_1:=\big(\frac{N(N-4)}{4}\big)^2$. Using Pohozaev type of identity, we prove the non-existence result when $1<q< 2^{**}$. On the other hand when the equation has multiple critical nonlinearities i.e. $q=2^{**}$ and $-(N-2)^2\leqμ<μ_1$, we establish the existence of nontrivial solution using the Mountain-Pass theorem by Ambrosetti and Rabinowitz…
We investigate the problem $$ \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} -Δ_p u = g(u)|\nabla u|^p + f(x,u) \ & \mbox{in} \ \ Ω, \ \ \\ u>0 \ &\mbox{in} \ \ Ω, \ \ u = 0 \ &\mbox{on} \ \ \partialΩ, \end{array} \right. \leqno{(P)} $$ in a bounded smooth domain $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^N$. Using a Kazdan-Kramer change of variable we reduce this problem to a quasilinear one without gradient term and therefore approachable by variational methods. In this way we come to some new and interesting problems for quasilinear elliptic equations which are motivated by the need to solve $(P)$. Among other results, we investigat…
Using the Mountain--Pass Theorem of Ambrosetti and Rabinowitz we prove that $-Δ_p u-μ|x|^{-p}{u^{p-1}}=|x|^{-s}{u^{\crits-1}}+u^{\crit-1}$ admits a positive weak solution in $\rn$ of class $\dunp\cap C^1(\rn\setminus\{0\})$, whenever $μ<μ_1$, and $μ_1=[(n-p)/p]^p$. The technique is based on the existence of extremals of some Hardy--Sobolev type embeddings of independent interest. We also show that if $u\in\dunp$ is a weak solution in $\rn$ of $-Δ_p u-μ|x|^{-p}{|u|^{p-2}u}=|x|^{-s}{|u|^{\crits-2}u}+|u|^{q-2}u$, then $u\equiv0$ when either $1<q<\crit$, or $q>\crit$ and $u$ is also of class $L^\i…
In this paper, we obtain a new quantitative deformation Lemma so that we can obtain more critical points, especially for supinf critical value $c_1$, $x=φ^{-1}(c_1)$ is a new critical point. For $infmax$ critical value $c_2$, we can obtain two new critical points $x = 0$ (valley point) and $x = e$(peak point) ,comparing with Willem's variant of the mountain pass theorem of Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz,in which $φ(e)\leqφ(0)<c_2$, but in our new mountain pass theorem, $ φ(e)=c_2$.
The concentration compactness framework for semilinear elliptic equations without compactness, set originally by P.-L.Lions for constrained minimization in the case of homogeneous nonlinearity, is extended here to the case of general nonlinearities in the standard mountain pass setting of Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz. In these setting, existence of solutions at the mountain pass level is verified under a single penalty condition analogous to that in the Lions' case. Problems on the whole space and problems with critical nonlinearity are considered. Particular attention is given to nonhomogeneous crit…
This paper is devoted to study the existence and multiplicity solutions for the nonlinear Schrödinger-Poisson systems involving fractional Laplacian operator: \begin{equation}\label{eq*} \left\{ \aligned &(-Δ)^{s} u+V(x)u+ ϕu=f(x,u), \quad &\text{in }\mathbb{R}^3, &(-Δ)^{t} ϕ=u^2, \quad &\text{in }\mathbb{R}^3, \endaligned \right. \end{equation} where $(-Δ)^α$ stands for the fractional Laplacian of order $α\in (0\,,\,1)$. Under certain assumptions on $V$ and $f$, we obtain infinitely many high energy solutions for \eqref{eq*} without assuming the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition by using the fo…
Without compactness assumptions, we prove some abstract results which show that a $C^{1}$ functional $I:X\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ on a Banach space $X$ admits bounded Palais-Smale sequences provided that it exhibits some geometric structure of minimax type and a suitable behaviour with respect to some sequence of continuous mappings $ψ_{n}:X\rightarrow X$. This work is a preliminary version of a forthcoming paper, where applications to nonlinear equations without Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz type assumptions will also be given.
We consider the following problem $$(P) \begin{cases} -Δ_{p}u= c(x)|u|^{q-1}u+μ|\nabla u|^{p}+h(x) & \ \ \mbox{ in }Ω, u=0 & \ \ \mbox{ on } \partialΩ, \end{cases}$$ where $Ω$ is a bounded set in $\mathbb{R}^{N}$ ($N\geq 3$) with a smooth boundary, $1<p<N$, $q>0$, $μ\in \mathbb{R}^{*}$, and $c$ and $ h$ belong to $L^{k}(Ω)$ for some $k>\frac{N}{p}$. In this paper, we assume that $c\gneqq 0$ a.e. in $Ω$ and $h$ without sign condition, then we prove the existence of at least two bounded solutions under the condition that $\|c\|_{k}$ and $\|h\|_{k}$ are suitably small. For this purpose, we use th…
In this paper we investigate the existence of multiple solutions for the following two fractional problems \begin{equation*} \left\{\begin{array}{ll} (-Δ_Ω)^{s} u-λu= f(x, u) &\mbox{in} Ω\\ u=0 &\mbox{in} \partial Ω\end{array} \right. \end{equation*} and \begin{equation*} \left\{\begin{array}{ll} (-Δ_{\mathbb{R}^{N}})^{s} u-λu= f(x, u) &\mbox{in} Ω\\ u=0 &\mbox{in} \mathbb{R}^{N}\setminus Ω, \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} where $s\in (0,1)$, $N>2s$, $Ω$ is a smooth bounded domain of $\mathbb{R}^{N}$, and $f:\barΩ\times \mathbb{R}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a superlinear continuous function…
In this work, we establish some abstract results on the perspective of the fractional Musielak-Sobolev spaces, such as: uniform convexity, Radon-Riesz property with respect to the modular function, $(S_{+})$-property, Brezis-Lieb type Lemma to the modular function and monotonicity results. Moreover, we apply the theory developed to study the existence of solutions to the following class of nonlocal problems \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} (-Δ)_{Φ_{x,y}}^s u = f(x,u),& \mbox{in }Ω, u=0,& \mbox{on }\mathbb{R}^N\setminus Ω, \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} where $N\geq 2$, $Ω\subse…
In this paper, we study the following nonlinear problem of Kirchhoff type with critical Sobolev exponent: -\left(a+b\ds\int_{\R^3}|D u|^2\right)Δu+u=f(x,u)+u^{5}, u\in H^1(\R^3), u>0, $x\in \R^3$ where a,b>0 are constants. Under certain assumptions on the sign-changing function $f(x,u)$, we prove the existence of positive solutions by variational methods. Our main results can be viewed as a partial extension of a recent result of He and Zou in [17] concerning the existence of positive solutions to the nonlinear Kirchhoff problem \left(\varepsilon^2a+\varepsilon b\ds\int_{\R^3}|D u|^2\right)Δu+…
We investigate the following Dirichlet problem with variable exponents: \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{array}{l} -\bigtriangleup _{p(x)}u=λα(x)\left\vert u\right\vert ^{α(x)-2}u\left\vert v\right\vert ^{β(x)}+F_{u}(x,u,v),\text{ in }Ω, \\ -\bigtriangleup _{q(x)}v=λβ(x)\left\vert u\right\vert ^{α(x)}\left\vert v\right\vert ^{β(x)-2}v+F_{v}(x,u,v),\text{ in }Ω, \\ u=0=v,\text{ on }\partial Ω. \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} We present here, in the system setting, a new set of growth conditions under which we manage to use a novel method to verify the Cerami compactness condition. By locali…
