In this paper, we study the scattering theory for the defocusing energy-critical Klein-Gordon equation with a cubic convolution $u_{tt}-Δu+u+(|x|^{-4}\ast|u|^2)u=0$ in the spatial dimension $d \geq 5$. We utilize the strategy in [S. Ibrahim, N. Masmoudi and K. Nakanishi, Scattering threshold for the focusing nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation. Analysis and PDE., 4 (2011), 405-460.] derived from concentration compactness ideas to show that the proof of the global well-posedness and scattering is reduced to disprove the existence of the soliton-like solution. Employing technique from [B. Pausader, Scattering for the Beam Equation in Low Dimensions. Indiana Univ. Math. J., 59 (2010), 791-822.], we consider a virial-type identity in the direction orthogonal to the momentum vector so as to exclude such solution.
By $I$-method, the interaction Morawetz estimate, long time Strichartz estimate and local smoothing effect of Schrödinger operator, we show global well-posedness and scattering for the defocusing Hartree equation $$\left\{ \begin{array}{ll} iu_t + Δu &=F(u), \quad (t,x) \in \mathbb{R} \times \mathbb{R}^4 u(0) \\ &=u_0(x)\in H^s(\mathbb{R}^4), \end{array} \right. $$ where $F(u)= (V* |u|^2) u$, and $V(x)=|x|^{-γ}$, $3< γ<4$, with radial data in $H^{s}(\mathbb{R}^4)$ for $s>s_c:=γ/2-1$. It is a sharp global result except of the critical case $s=s_c$, which is a very difficult open problem.
In the 2-d setting, given an $H^1$ solution $v(t)$ to the linear Schrödinger equation $i\partial_t v +Δv =0$, we prove the existence (but not uniqueness) of an $H^1$ solution $u(t)$ to the defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation $i\partial_t u + Δu -|u|^{p-1}u=0$ for nonlinear powers $2<p<3$ and the existence of an $H^1$ solution $u(t)$ to the defocusing Hartree equation $i\partial_t u + Δu -(|x|^{-γ}\star|u|^{2})u=0$ for interaction powers $1<γ<2$, such that $\|u(t)-v(t)\|_{H^1} \to 0$ as $t\to +\infty$. This is a partial result toward the existence of well-defined continuous wave ope…
We consider both the defocusing and focusing cubic nonlinear Klein--Gordon equations $$ u_{tt} - Δu + u \pm u^3 =0 $$ in two space dimensions for real-valued initial data $u(0)\in H^1_x$ and $u_t(0)\in L^2_x$. We show that in the defocusing case, solutions are global and have finite global $L^4_{t,x}$ spacetime bounds. In the focusing case, we characterize the dichotomy between this behaviour and blowup for initial data with energy less than that of the ground state. These results rely on analogous statements for the two-dimensional cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation, which are known in the …
We consider the defocusing, $\dot{H}^1$-critical Hartree equation for the radial data in all dimensions $(n\geq 5)$. We show the global well-posedness and scattering results in the energy space. The new ingredient in this paper is that we first take advantage of the term $\displaystyle - \int_{I}\int_{|x|\leq A|I|^{1/2}}|u|^{2}Δ\Big(\frac{1}{|x|}\Big)dxdt$ in the localized Morawetz identity to rule out the possibility of energy concentration, instead of the classical Morawetz estimate dependent of the nonlinearity.
We study Cauchy problem for the Klein-Gordon (HNLKG), wave (HNLW) and Schrödinger (HNLS) equations with cubic convolution (Hartree type) nonlinearity. Some global well-posedness and scattering are obtained for the (HNLKG) and (HNLS) with small Cauchy data in some modulation spaces. Global well-posedness for fractional Schrödinger (fNLSH) equation with Hartree type nonlinearity is obtained with Cauchy data in some modulation spaces. Local well-posedness for (HNLW), (fHNLS) and (HNLKG) with rough data in modulation spaces is shown. This improves known results in Sobolev spaces in some sense. As …
We consider the strongly damped Klein Gordon equation for defocusing nonlinearity and we study the asymptotic behaviour of the energy for periodic solutions. We prove first the exponential decay to zero for zero mean solutions. Then, we characterize the limit of the energy, when the time tends to infinity, for solutions with small enough initial data and we finally prove that such limit is not necessary zero.
We consider the pure-power defocusing nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation, in the energy subcritical case, posed on the product space $\mathbb R^d\times \mathbb T$, where $\mathbb T$ is the one-dimensional flat torus. In this framework, we prove that scattering holds for any initial data belonging to the energy space $H^1 \times L^2$ for $1\leq d\leq 4$. The strategy consists in proving a suitable profile decomposition theorem in $\mathbb R^d\times \mathbb T$ to pursue a concentration-compactness \& rigidity method.
Using the same induction on energy argument in both frequency space and spatial space simultaneously as in \cite{CKSTT07}, \cite{RyV05} and \cite{Vi05}, we obtain global well-posedness and scattering of energy solutions of defocusing energy-critical nonlinear Hartree equation in $\mathbb{R}\times \mathbb{R}^n$($n\geq 5$), which removes the radial assumption on the data in \cite{MiXZ07a}. The new ingredients are that we use a modified long time perturbation theory to obtain the frequency localization (Proposition \ref{freqdelocaimplystbound} and Corollary \ref{frequencylocalization}) of the min…
We prove the decay in the energy space for the solution to the defocusing biharmonic Hartree-Fock equations with mass-supercritical and energy-subcritical Choquard-type nonlinearity in space dimension $d\geq3$. We treat both the free and the perturbed by a potential case. As a direct consequence, we obtain large-data scattering in $H^2(\mathbb R^d)^N, \, N\geq 1$.
We prove the global well-posedness and scattering for the defocusing $H^{\frac12}$-subcritical (that is, $2<γ<3$) Hartree equation with low regularity data in $\mathbb{R}^d$, $d\geq 3$. Precisely, we show that a unique and global solution exists for initial data in the Sobolev space $H^s\big(\mathbb{R}^d\big)$ with $s>4(γ-2)/(3γ-4)$, which also scatters in both time directions. This improves the result in \cite{ChHKY}, where the global well-posedness was established for any $s>\max\big(1/2,4(γ-2)/(3γ-4)\big)$. The new ingredients in our proof are that we make use of an interaction Morawetz est…
We consider the initial value problem for the L^2-critical defocusing Hartree equation in R^n, n \ge 3. We show that the problem is globally well posed in H^s(R^n) when 1>s> \frac{2(n-2)}{3n-4}$. We use the "I-method" combined with a local in time Morawetz estimate for the smoothed out solution.
We prove decay with respect to some Lebesgue norms for a class of Schrödinger equations with non-local nonlinearities by showing new Morawetz inequalities and estimates. As a byproduct, we obtain large-data scattering in the energy space for the solutions to the systems of $N$ defocusing Schrödinger-Choquard equations with mass-energy intercritical nonlinearities in any space dimension and of defocusing Hartree-Fock equations, for any dimension $d\geq3$.
We consider a Hartree equation for a random variable, which describes the temporal evolution of infinitely many Fermions. On the Euclidean space, this equation possesses equilibria which are not localised. We show their stability through a scattering result, with respect to localised perturbations in the defocusing case in high dimensions $d\geq 4$. This provides an analogue of the results of Lewin and Sabin \cite{LS2}, and of Chen, Hong and Pavlović \cite{CHP2} for the Hartree equation on operators. The proof relies on dispersive techniques used for the study of scattering for the nonlinear S…
We consider the Dirac equation with cubic Hartree-type nonlinearity derived by uncoupling the Dirac-Klein-Gordon systems. We prove small data scattering result in full subcritical range. Main ingredients of the proof are the localized Strichartz estimates, improved bilinear estimates thanks to null-structure hidden in Dirac operator and $Up,Vp$ function spaces. We apply the projection operator and get a system which of linear part is the Klein-Gordon type. It enables us to exploit the null-structures in equation. This result is shown to be almost optimal by showing that iteration method based …
In this paper we consider the real-valued mass-critical nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations in three and higher dimensions. We prove the dichotomy between scattering and blow-up below the ground state energy in the focusing case, and the energy scattering in the defocusing case. We use the concentration-compactness/rigidity method as R. Killip, B. Stovall, and M. Visan [Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 364 (2012)]. The main new novelty is to approximate the large scale (low-frequency) profile by the solution of the mass-critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation when the nonlinearity is not algebraic.
In this paper we consider the defocusing Hartree nonlinear Schrödinger equations on $\mathbb T^3$ with real valued and even potential $V$ and Fourier multiplier decaying like $|k|^{-β}$. By relying on the method of random averaging operators in arXiv:1910.08492, we show that there exists $\frac{1}{2} \ll β_0 <1 $ such that for $ β> β_0 $ we have invariance of the associated Gibbs measure and global existence of strong solutions in its statistical ensemble. In this way we extend Bourgain's seminal result [7] which requires $β>2$ in this case.
In this paper, we study the global well-posedness and scattering problem in the energy space for both focusing and defocusing the Klein-Gordon-Hartree equation in the spatial dimension $d \geq 3$. The main difficulties are the absence of an interaction Morawetz-type estimate and of a Lorentz invariance which enable one to control the momentum. To compensate, we utilize the strategy derived from concentration compactness ideas, which was first introduced by Kenig and Merle \cite{KM} to the scattering problem. Furthermore, employing technique from \cite{Pa2}, we consider a virial-type identity i…
We consider the long time asymptotics of (not necessarily small) odd solutions to the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with semi-linear and nonlocal Hartree nonlinearities, in one dimension of space. We assume data in the energy space $H^1(\mathbb{R})$ only, and we prove decay to zero in compact regions of space as time tends to infinity. We give three different results where decay holds: semilinear NLS, NLS with a suitable potential, and defocusing Hartree. The proof is based on the use of suitable virial identities, in the spirit of nonlinear Klein-Gordon models as in Kowalczyk-Martel-Muñoz, a…
We revisit the scattering problems for the 2D mass super-critical Schrödinger and Klein-Gordon equations with radial data below the ground state in the energy space. We give an alternative proof of energy scattering for both defocusing and focusing cases using the ideas of Dodson-Murphy \citep{dodson2017new-radial}. Our results also include the exponential type nonlinearities which seems to be new for the focusing exponential NLS.
In this paper, we study the asymptotic dynamics of global solutions to damped Klein-Gordon equations in inhomogeneous mediums (KGI). In the defocusing case, we prove for any initial data, the solution is globally define in forward time and it will converge to an equilibrium. In the focusing case, for global solutions, we prove the solutions converge to the superposition of equilibriums among which there exists at most one equilibrium to KGI and the other equilibriums are solutions to stationary nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations. The core ingredients of our proof are the existence of the "concen…
In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem for Klein-Gordon equation with a cubic convolution nonlinearity in $\R^3$. By making use of Bourgain's method in conjunction with a precise Strichartz estimate of S.Klainerman and D.Tataru, we establish the $H^s (s<1)$ global well-posedness of the Cauchy problem for the cubic convolution defocusing Klein-Gordon-Hartree equation. Before arriving at the previously discussed conclusion, we obtain global solution for this non-scaling equation with small initial data in $H^{s_0}\times H^{s_0-1}$ where $s_0=\fracγ6$ but not $\frac\gamma2-1$, for this equ…
We consider the periodic defocusing cubic nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation in three dimensions in the symplectic phase space $H^{\frac{1}{2}}(\mathbb{T}^3) \times H^{-\frac{1}{2}}(\mathbb{T}^3)$. This space is at the critical regularity for this equation, and in this setting there is no global well-posedness nor any uniform control on the local time of existence for arbitrary initial data. We prove a local-in-time non-squeezing result and a conditional global-in-time result which states that uniform bounds on the Strichartz norms of solutions imply global-in-time non-squeezing. As a consequence…

We consider the asymptotic behavior of solutions to the Cauchy problem for the defocusing nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation (NLKG) with exponential nonlinearity in the one spatial dimension with data in the energy space $H^1(\mathbb{R}) \times L^2(\mathbb{R})$. We prove that any energy solution has a global bound of the $L^6_{t,x}$ space-time norm, and hence scatters in $H^1(\mathbb{R}) \times L^2(\mathbb{R})$ as $t\rightarrow\pm \infty$. The proof is based on the argument by Killip-Stovall-Visan (Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 364 (2012), no. 3, 1571--1631). However, since well-posedness in $H^{1/2}(\…
In this paper, we study the real analyticity of the scattering operator for the Hartree equation $ i\partial_tu=-Δu+u(V*|u|^2)$. To this end, we exploit interior and exterior cut-off in time and space, and combining with the compactness argument to overcome difficulties which arise from absence of good properties for the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation, such as the finite speed of propagation and ideal time decay estimate. Additionally, the method in this paper allows us to simplify the proof of analyticity of the scattering operator for the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation with cubic nonlinear…
In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem for the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation whose nonlinearity is $|u|^{k}u$ in the modulation space, where $k$ is not an integer. Our method can be applied to other equations whose nonlinear parts have regularity estimates. We also study the global solution with small initial value for the Klein-Gordon-Hartree equation. By this we can show some advantages of modulation spaces both in high and low regularity cases.
We study the asymptotic behavior of solutions to the defocusing mass-subcritical Hartree NLS $iu_t + Δu = F(u) = (|x|^{-γ}*|u|^2)u$ on $\mathbb{R}^d$, $d\geq 2$, $\frac{4}{3} < γ< 2$. We show that the scattering problem associated to this equation is analytically well-posed in the weighted spaces $Σ= H^1\cap\mathcal{F}H^1$ and $\mathcal{F}H^1$. Furthermore, we show that the same problem fails to be analytically well-posed for data in $L^2$. This constitutes an infinite loss of regularity between the scattering problems in weighted spaces and in $L^2$. This further develops an earlier investiga…
We investigate existence and asymptotic completeness of the wave operators for nonlinear Klein-Gordon and Schrödinger equations with a defocusing exponential nonlinearity in two space dimensions. A certain threshold is defined based on the value of the conserved Hamiltonian, below which the exponential potential energy is dominated by the kinetic energy via a Trudinger-Moser type inequality. We prove that if the energy is below or equal to the critical value, then the solution approaches a free Klein-Gordon solution at the time infinity. The interesting feature in the critical case is that the…
We study a class of two-dimensional non-linear Schrödinger equations with point-like singular perturbation and Hartree non-linearity. The point-like singular perturbation of the free Laplacian induces appropriate perturbed Sobolev spaces that are necessary for the study of ground states and evolution flow. We include in our treatment both mass sub-critical and mass critical Hartree non-linearities. Our analysis is two-fold: we establish existence, symmetry, and regularity of ground states, and we demonstrate the well-posedness of the associated Cauchy problem in the singular perturbed energy s…
We consider the one-dimensional nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation with a double power focusing-defocusing nonlinearity \begin{equation*} \partial_{t}^{2}u-\partial_{x}^{2}u+u-|u|^{p-1}u+|u|^{q-1}u=0,\quad \mbox{on}\ [0,\infty)\times \mathbb{R}, \end{equation*} with $1<q<p<\infty$. The main result states the stability in the energy space $H^{1}(\mathbb{R})\times L^{2}(\mathbb{R})$ of the sums of decoupled solitary waves with different speeds, up to the natural instabilities. The proof is inspired by the techniques developed for the generalized Korteweg-de Vries equation and the nonlinear Schrödin…
We consider the question of scattering for the boson star equation in three space dimensions. This is a semi-relativistic Klein-Gordon equation with a cubic nonlinearity of Hartree type. We combine weighted estimates, obtained by exploiting a special null structure present in the equation, and a refined asymptotic analysis performed in Fourier space, to obtain global solutions evolving from small and localized Cauchy data. We describe the behavior at infinity of such solutions by identifying a suitable nonlinear asymptotic correction to scattering. As a byproduct of the weighted energy estimat…
We present a general algorithm to show that a scattering operator associated to a semilinear dispersive equation is real analytic, and to compute the coefficients of its Taylor series at any point. We illustrate this method in the case of the Schrodinger equation with power-like nonlinearity or with Hartree type nonlinearity, and in the case of the wave and Klein-Gordon equations with power nonlinearity. Finally, we discuss the link of this approach with inverse scattering, and with complete integrability.
