We study the asymptotic behavior of solutions to the defocusing mass-subcritical Hartree NLS $iu_t + Δu = F(u) = (|x|^{-γ}*|u|^2)u$ on $\mathbb{R}^d$, $d\geq 2$, $\frac{4}{3} < γ< 2$. We show that the scattering problem associated to this equation is analytically well-posed in the weighted spaces $Σ= H^1\cap\mathcal{F}H^1$ and $\mathcal{F}H^1$. Furthermore, we show that the same problem fails to be analytically well-posed for data in $L^2$. This constitutes an infinite loss of regularity between the scattering problems in weighted spaces and in $L^2$. This further develops an earlier investigation initiated by the author in which a finite breakdown of regularity was proved for the $L^2$ scattering problem for the mass-subcritical NLS with power nonlinearity $F(u) = |u|^pu$.
We prove analytic-type estimates in weighted Sobolev spaces on the eigenfunctions of a class of elliptic and nonlinear eigenvalue problems with singular potentials, which includes the Hartree-Fock equations. Going beyond classical results on the analyticity of the wavefunctions away from the nuclei, we prove weighted estimates locally at each singular point, with precise control of the derivatives of all orders. Our estimates have far-reaching consequences for the approximation of the eigenfunctions of the problems considered, and they can be used to prove a priori estimates on the numerical s…
In this paper, we study the real analyticity of the scattering operator for the Hartree equation $ i\partial_tu=-Δu+u(V*|u|^2)$. To this end, we exploit interior and exterior cut-off in time and space, and combining with the compactness argument to overcome difficulties which arise from absence of good properties for the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation, such as the finite speed of propagation and ideal time decay estimate. Additionally, the method in this paper allows us to simplify the proof of analyticity of the scattering operator for the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation with cubic nonlinear…
We prove that the Hartree--Fock orbitals of pseudorelativistic atoms, that is, atoms where the kinetic energy of the electrons is given by the pseudorelativistic operator sqrt{-Delta+1}-1, are real analytic away from the origin. As a consequence, the quantum mechanical ground state of such atoms is never a Hartree-Fock state. Our proof is inspired by the classical proof of analyticity by nested balls of Morrey and Nirenberg. However, the technique has to be adapted to take care of the non-local pseudodifferential operator, the singularity of the potential at the origin, and the non-linear term…
We establish analyticity of the subcritical and critical quasi-geostrophic equations in critical Besov spaces. The main method is so-called Gevrey estimates, which is motivated by the work of Foias and Temam. We show that mild solutions θ(t), are Gevrey regular, i.e. they satisfy the estimate \sup_{t>0}\|e^{αt^{1/γ}Λ_1}θ(t)\|_{\cap L}<\infty. for a suitably chosen α>0 and a scaling invariant Besov space {\cap L}.
We prove the global well-posedness and scattering for the defocusing $H^{\frac12}$-subcritical (that is, $2<γ<3$) Hartree equation with low regularity data in $\mathbb{R}^d$, $d\geq 3$. Precisely, we show that a unique and global solution exists for initial data in the Sobolev space $H^s\big(\mathbb{R}^d\big)$ with $s>4(γ-2)/(3γ-4)$, which also scatters in both time directions. This improves the result in \cite{ChHKY}, where the global well-posedness was established for any $s>\max\big(1/2,4(γ-2)/(3γ-4)\big)$. The new ingredients in our proof are that we make use of an interaction Morawetz est…
We study the propagation of wave packets for nonlinear nonlocal Schrodinger equations in the semi-classical limit. When the kernel is smooth, we construct approximate solutions for the wave functions in subcritical, critical and supercritical cases (in terms of the size of the initial data). The validity of the approximation is proved up to Ehrenfest time. For homogeneous kernels, we establish similar results in subcritical and critical cases. Nonlinear superposition principle for two nonlinear wave packets is also considered.
We present a general algorithm to show that a scattering operator associated to a semilinear dispersive equation is real analytic, and to compute the coefficients of its Taylor series at any point. We illustrate this method in the case of the Schrodinger equation with power-like nonlinearity or with Hartree type nonlinearity, and in the case of the wave and Klein-Gordon equations with power nonlinearity. Finally, we discuss the link of this approach with inverse scattering, and with complete integrability.
We reconsider the theory of scattering for some long range Hartree equations with potential |x|^-gamma with 1/2 < gamma < 1. More precisely we study the local Cauchy problem with infinite initial time, which is the main step in the construction of the modified wave operators. We solve that problem in the whole subcritical range without loss of regularity between the asymptotic state and the solution, thereby recovering a result of Nakanishi. Our method starts from a different parametrization of the solutions, already used in our previous papers. This reduces the proofs to energy estimates and …
We prove the existence of the set of ground states in a suitable energy space $Σ^s=\{u: \int_{\mathbb{R}^N} \bar{u}(-Δ+m^2)^s u+V |u|^2<\infty\}$, $s\in (0,\frac{N}{2})$ for the mass-subcritical nonlinear fractional Hartree equation with unbounded potentials. As a consequence we obtain, as a priori result, the orbital stability of the set of standing waves. The main ingredient is the observation that $Σ^s$ is compactly embedded in $L^2$. This enables us to apply the concentration compactness argument in the works of Cazenave-Lions and Zhang, namely, relative compactness for any minimizing sequ…
We continue the study of the theory of scattering for some long range Hartree equations with potential |x|^-gamma, performed in a previous paper, denoted as I, in the range 1/2 < gamma < 1. Here we extend the results to the range 1/3 < gamma < 1/2. More precisely, we study the local Cauchy problem with infinite initial time, which is the main step in the construction of the modified wave operators. We solve that problem without loss of regularity between the asymptotic state and the solution, as in I, but in contrast to I, we are no longer able to cover the entire subcritical range of regulari…
We prove the decay in the energy space for the solution to the defocusing biharmonic Hartree-Fock equations with mass-supercritical and energy-subcritical Choquard-type nonlinearity in space dimension $d\geq3$. We treat both the free and the perturbed by a potential case. As a direct consequence, we obtain large-data scattering in $H^2(\mathbb R^d)^N, \, N\geq 1$.
In this paper, we consider the scattering theory of the radial solution to focusing energy-subcritical Hartree equation with inverse-square potential in the energy space $H^{1}(\mathbb{R}^d)$ using the method from \cite{Dodson2016}. The main difficulties are the equation is \emph{not} space-translation invariant and the nonlinearity is non-local. Using the radial Sobolev embedding and a virial-Morawetz type estimate we can exclude the concentration of mass near the origin. Besides, we can overcome the weak dispersive estimate when $a<0$, using the dispersive estimate established by \cite{zheng…
We consider the mass-subcritical Hartree equation with a homogeneous kernel, in the space of square integrable functions whose Fourier transform is integrable. We prove a global well-posedness result in this space. On the other hand, we show that the Cauchy problem is not even locally well-posed if we simply work in the space of functions whose Fourier transform is integrable. Similar results are proven when the kernel is not homogeneous, and is such that its Fourier transform belongs to some Lebesgue space.
We consider the Dirac equation with cubic Hartree-type nonlinearity derived by uncoupling the Dirac-Klein-Gordon systems. We prove small data scattering result in full subcritical range. Main ingredients of the proof are the localized Strichartz estimates, improved bilinear estimates thanks to null-structure hidden in Dirac operator and $Up,Vp$ function spaces. We apply the projection operator and get a system which of linear part is the Klein-Gordon type. It enables us to exploit the null-structures in equation. This result is shown to be almost optimal by showing that iteration method based …
We consider the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation $i u_t + Δu + |u|^{p-1}u=0$, $p>1,$ and the generalized Hartree equation $iv_t + Δv + (|x|^{-(N-γ)}\ast |v|^p)|v|^{p-2}u=0$, $p\geq2$, $γ<N$, in the mass-supercritical and energy-subcritical setting. With the initial data $u_0\in H^1(\mathbb{R}^N)$ the characterization of solutions behavior under the mass-energy threshold is known for the NLS case from the works of Holmer and Roudenko in the radial [16] and Duyckaerts, Holmer and Roudenko in the nonradial setting [10] and further generalizations (see [1,11,14]); for the generalized Hartre…
