We point out that the moduli spaces of all known 3d $\mathcal{N}=$ 8 and $\mathcal{N}=$ 6 SCFTs, after suitable gaugings of finite symmetry groups, have the form $\mathbb{C}^{4r}/Γ$ where $Γ$ is a real or complex reflection group depending on whether the theory is $\mathcal{N}=$ 8 or $\mathcal{N}=$ 6, respectively. Real reflection groups are either dihedral groups, Weyl groups, or two sporadic cases $H_{3,4}$. Since the BLG theories and the maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories correspond to dihedral and Weyl groups, it is strongly suggested that there are two yet-to-be-discovered 3d $\mathcal{N}=$ 8 theories for $H_{3,4}$. We also show that all known $\mathcal{N}=$ 6 theories correspond to complex reflection groups collectively known as $G(k,x,N)$. Along the way, we demonstrate that two ABJM theories $(SU(N)_k\times SU(N)_{-k})/\mathbb{Z}_N$ and $(U(N)_k\times U(N)_{-k})/\mathbb{Z}_k$ are actually equivalent.
A classification of soft SUSY breaking deformation of general four dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFT is provided. Given the large class of newly discovered $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs and their known properties such as the central charges and full information of BPS operators, it is possible to get a huge number of new $\mathcal{N}=1$ SCFTs and non-supersymmetric CFTs. Many properties of these new $\mathcal{N}=1$ SCFTs such as central charges, chiral spectrum and Seiberg duality can be derived from known information of parent $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFT.
One can derive a large class of new $\mathcal{N}=1$ SCFTs by turning on $\mathcal{N}=1$ preserving deformations for $\mathcal{N}=2$ Argyres-Dougals theories. In this work, we use $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal indices to get indices of $\mathcal{N}=1$ SCFTs, then use these indices to derive chiral rings of $\mathcal{N}=1$ SCFTs. For a large class of $\mathcal{N}=2$ theories, we find that the IR theory contains only free chirals if we deform the parent $\mathcal{N}=2$ theory using the Coulomb branch operator with smallest scaling dimension. Our results provide interesting lessons on studies of …
We refine our previous proposal for systematically classifying 4d rank-1 $\mathcal N=2$ SCFTs by constructing their possible Coulomb branch geometries. Four new recently discussed rank-1 theories, including novel $\mathcal{N}=3$ SCFTs, sit beautifully in our refined classification framework. By arguing for the consistency of their RG flows we can make a strong case for the existence of at least four additional rank-1 SCFTs, nearly doubling the number of known rank-1 SCFTs. The refinement consists of relaxing the assumption that the flavor symmetries of the SCFTs have no discrete factors. This …
We derive explicit formulae to compute the $a$ and $c$ central charges of four dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal field theories (SCFTs) directly from Coulomb branch related quantities. The formulae apply at arbitrary rank. We also discover general properties of the low-energy limit behavior of the flavor symmetry of $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs which culminate with our $\mathcal{N}=2$ UV-IR simple flavor condition. This is done by determining precisely the relation between the integrand of the partition function of the topologically twisted version of the 4d $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs and the sin…
We study AdS duals of four-dimensional (4D) $\mathcal{N}=1$ superconformal field theories (SCFTs) on $\mathbb{Z}_k$ S-folds with T-branes that flow to 4D $\mathcal{N}=3$ theories. In a previous study, it was discussed how considering T-brane structure breaks the $\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetry in 4D SCFTs on $\mathbb{Z}_k$ S-folds down to $\mathcal{N}=1$. In this study, we analyze this effect from the AdS perspective. We also discuss the constructions of 4D $\mathcal{N}=1$ SCFTs on S-folds with T-branes starting from global K3 hypersurfaces whose fibers involve complex multiplications. We choose…
We present a general solution to the problem of determining all S-dual descriptions for a specific (but very rich) class of $\mathcal{N} = 1$ SCFTs. These SCFTs are indexed by decorated toric diagrams, and can be engineered in string theory by probing orientifolds of isolated toric singularities with D3 branes. The S-dual phases are described by quiver gauge theories coupled to specific types of conformal matter which we describe explicitly. We illustrate our construction with many examples, including S-dualities in previously unknown SCFTs.
We propose that a certain $4d$ $\mathcal{N}=1$ $SU(2)\times SU(2)$ gauge theory flows in the IR to an $\mathcal{N}=3$ SCFT plus a single free chiral field. The specific $\mathcal{N}=3$ SCFT has rank $1$ and a dimension three Coulomb branch operator. The flow is generically expected to land at the $\mathcal{N}=3$ SCFT deformed by the marginal deformation associated with said Coulomb branch operator. We also present a discussion about the properties expected of various RG invariant quantities from $\mathcal{N}=3$ superconformal symmetry, and use these to test our proposal. Finally, we discuss a …
We study $5d$ gauge theories that go in the UV to $6d$ $\mathcal{N}$$=(1,0)$ SCFT. We focus on these theories that can be engineered in string theory by brane webs. Given a theory in this class, we propose a method to determine the $6d$ SCFT it goes to. We also discuss the implication of this to the compactification of the resulting $6d$ SCFT on a torus to $4d$. We test and demonstrate this method with a variety of examples.
We list 4d interacting $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFT with minimal flavor central charge from the theory space constructed using 6d $(2,0)$ theory. For $ADE$ and $C_N$ flavor groups, our theory saturates the bound found using bootstrap method, but other cases have higher values. We find interesting rank one SCFTs with $B_3, G_2, F_4, C_4\times U(1), C_1\times U(1)$ flavor symmetry. Many physical properties of these theories are also studied.
The numerical conformal bootstrap is used to study mixed correlators in $\mathcal{N}=1$ superconformal field theories (SCFTs) in $d=4$ spacetime dimensions. Systems of four-point functions involving scalar chiral and real operators are analyzed, including the case where the scalar real operator is the zero component of a global conserved current multiplet. New results on superconformal blocks as well as universal constraints on the space of 4D $\mathcal{N}=1$ SCFTs with chiral operators are presented. At the level of precision used, the conditions under which the putative "minimal" 4D $\mathca…
We compute the superconformal partial waves of the four-point correlator $\langle JJJJ\rangle$, in which the external operator $J$ is the superconformal primary of the $4D$ $\mathcal{N}=2$ stress-tensor multiplet $\mathcal{J}$. We develop the superembedding formalism for the superconformal field theories (SCFTs) with extended supersymmetry. In $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs, the three-point functions $\langle \mathcal{J}\mathcal{J}\mathcal{O}\rangle$ with general multiplet $\mathcal{O}$ contain two independent nilpotent superconformal invariants and new superconformal tensor structures, which can be ni…
We explore the \emph{Liouvillian} non-integrability criteria for long quiver gauge theories those preserve $ \mathcal{N}=1 $ SUSY in $ 5d $. We probe type IIB solutions with (an $ AdS_6 $ factor) semi-classical strings which capture the strong coupling dynamics of $ \mathcal{N}=1 $ SCFTs in $ 5d $. Our analysis reveals an underlying non-integrable structure within some sub-sector of these $ 5d $ SCFTs. To solidify our claim, we complement our analytic results through numerics. We estimate various chaos indicators for the phase space which confirm the onset of a \emph{chaotic} motion for these …
We study holographic renormalization group flows from four-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs to either $\mathcal{N}=2$ or $\mathcal{N}=1$ SCFTs. Our approach is based on the framework of five-dimensional half-maximal supergravity with general gauging, which we use to study domain wall solutions interpolating between different supersymmetric AdS$_5$ vacua. We show that a holographic RG flow connecting two $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs is only possible if the flavor symmetry of the UV theory admits an ${\rm SO}(3)$ subgroup. In this case the ratio of the IR and UV central charges satisfies a universal r…
Compactifying 6d superconformal field theories (SCFTs) to 4d $\mathcal{N}=1$ theories on two-punctured spheres (tubes) and tori with flux is realized using duality domain walls in 5d $\mathcal{N}=1$ Kaluza-Klein (KK) theories, which are usually denoted by $flux$ $domain$ $walls$. We revisit this construction and study it in detail from the 5d perspective, specifically rephrasing it using the box graph description of the extended Coulomb branch phases of 5d theories. This perspective could be helpful in understanding how to equivalently realize the 4d $\mathcal{N}=1$ models from geometric engin…
A broad class of holographic duals for 4d $\mathcal N=2$ SCFTs is based on the general half-BPS $AdS_5$ solutions to M-theory constructed by Lin, Lunin and Maldacena, and their Kaluza-Klein reductions to Type IIA. We derive the equations governing spin 2 fluctuations around these solutions. The resulting partial differential equations admit families of universal solutions which are constructed entirely out of the generic data characterizing the background. This implies the existence of families of spin 2 operators in the dual SCFTs, in short superconformal multiplets which we identify.
We introduce a systematic approach to constructing $\mathcal{N}=1$ Lagrangians for a class of interacting $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs. We analyse in detail the simplest case of the construction, arising from placing branes at an orientifolded $\mathbb{C}^2/\mathbb{Z}_2$ singularity. In this way we obtain Lagrangian descriptions for all the $R_{2,k}$ theories. The rank one theories in this class are the $E_6$ Minahan-Nemeschansky theory and the $C_2\times U(1)$ Argyres-Wittig theory. The Lagrangians that arise from our brane construction manifestly exhibit either the entire expected flavour symmetry …
There is a well-known map from 4d $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal field theories (SCFTs) to 2d vertex operator algebras (VOAs). The 4d Schur index corresponds to the VOA vacuum character, and must be a solution with integral coefficients of a modular differential equation. This suggests a classification program for 4d $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs that starts with modular differential equations and proceeds by imposing all known constraints that follow from the 4d $\to$ 2d map. This program becomes fully algorithmic once one specifies the $\mathrm{\textit{order}}$ of the modular differential equation a…
We study the conformal bootstrap constraints for 4D $\mathcal{N}=1$ superconformal field theories containing a chiral operator $ϕ$ and the chiral ring relation $ϕ^2=0$. Hints for a minimal interacting SCFT in this class have appeared in previous numerical bootstrap studies. We perform a detailed study of the properties of this conjectured theory, establishing that the corresponding solution to the bootstrap constraints contains a $\text{U}(1)_R$ current multiplet and estimating the central charge and low-lying operator spectrum of this theory.
We initiate a systematic analysis of moduli spaces of vacua of four dimensional $\mathcal{N}=3$ SCFTs. Our analysis is based on the one hand on the properties of $\mathcal{N}=3$ chiral rings --- which we review in detail and contrast with chiral rings of theories with less supersymmetry --- and on the other hand on constraints coming from low-energy supersymmetry. This leads us to introduce a new type of geometric structure, which characterizes $\mathcal{N}=3$ SCFT moduli spaces, and that we call $triple\ special\ Kähler$ (TSK). A rank-$n$ TSK moduli space has complex dimension $3n$, and is si…
We study four-point functions of spinning operators in the flavor current multiplet in four dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs, using superspace techniques. In particular we explicitly construct the differential operators relating the different components of the super-correlator. As a byproduct of our analysis, we report the computation of the four-point amplitudes of gluons in bosonic Yang-Mills theories on $\mathrm{AdS}_5$ and we give evidence of an AdS double copy relation between the gluon amplitude and its gravitational counterpart.
We consider all 4d $\mathcal{N}=2$ theories of class $\mathcal{S}$ arising from the compactification of exceptional 6d $(2,0)$ SCFTs on a three-punctured sphere with a simple puncture. We find that each of these 4d theories has another origin as a 6d $(1,0)$ SCFT compactified on a torus, which we check by identifying and comparing the central charges and the flavor symmetry. Each 6d theory is identified with a complex structure deformation of $(\mathfrak{e}_n,\mathfrak{e}_n)$ minimal conformal matter, which corresponds to a Higgs branch renormalization group flow. We find that this structure i…
We study compactifications of an infinite family of four-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=1$ SCFTs on a Riemann surface in the presence of arbitrary background fluxes for global symmetries. The four-dimensional parent theories have holographic Sasaki-Einstein duals in type IIB string theory. We compute central charges and R-charges of baryonic operators in the resulting two-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=(0,2)$ theories in three distinct ways: from the field theory side utilizing c-extremization, its recently discovered geometric dual formulation, and holographically using new AdS$_3$ duals of two-dimension…
S-folds are a non-perturbative generalization of orientifold 3-planes which figure prominently in the construction of 4D $\mathcal{N} = 3$ SCFTs and have also recently been used to realize examples of 4D $\mathcal{N} = 2$ SCFTs. In this paper we develop a general procedure for reading off the flavor symmetry experienced by D3-branes probing 7-branes in the presence of an S-fold. We develop an S-fold generalization of orientifold projection which applies to non-perturbative string junctions. This procedure leads to a different 4D flavor symmetry algebra depending on whether the S-fold supports …
We study a rich set of four-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=1$ superconformal field theories (SCFTs) with both central charges identical: $a = c$. We construct them via the diagonal $\mathcal{N}=1$ gauging of the flavor symmetry $G$ of a collection of $\mathcal{N}=2$ Argyres--Douglas theories of type $\mathcal{D}_p(G)$, with or without additional adjoint chiral multiplets. In this way, we construct infinitely-many theories that flow to interacting SCFTs with $a = c$ in the infrared. Finally, we briefly highlight the features of the SCFTs without $a = c$ that arise from generalizing this construction.
In this paper we compute the vacuum expectation value of the Wilson loop and its correlators with chiral primary operators in $\mathcal{N}=2, 4$ superconformal $U(N)$ gauge theories at large $N$. After localization these quantities can be computed in terms of a deformed $U(N)$ matrix model. The Wilson loops we deal with are in the fundamental and symmetric representations.
We employ a non-compact gauging of four-dimensional maximal supergravity to construct a two-parameter family of AdS$_4$ J-fold solutions preserving $\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetry. All solutions preserve $\mathfrak{u}(1)\times\mathfrak{u}(1)$ global symmetry and in special limits we recover the previously known $\mathfrak{su}(2)\times\mathfrak{u}(1)$ invariant $\mathcal{N}=2$ and $\mathfrak{su}(2)\times\mathfrak{su}(2)$ invariant $\mathcal{N}=4$ J-fold solutions. This family of AdS$_4$ backgrounds can be uplifted to type IIB string theory and is holographically dual to the conformal manifold of …
We study the Cardy-like limit of the superconformal index of generic $\mathcal{N}=1$ SCFTs with ABCD gauge algebra, providing strong evidence for a universal formula that captures the behavior of the index at finite order in the rank and in the fugacities associated to angular momenta. The formula extends previous results valid at lowest order, and generalizes them to generic SCFTs. We corroborate the validity of our proposal by studying several examples, beyond the well-understood toric class. We compute the index also for models without a weakly-coupled gravity dual, whose gravitational anom…
We construct an extremal chiral $\mathcal N=4$ superconformal field theory with central charge 24 from a $\mathbb Z_2$ orbifold of the chiral bosonic theory with target $\mathbb R^{24}/Λ$, where $Λ$ is the Niemeier lattice with root system $A_2^{12}$. This construction is analogous to constructions of extremal chiral $\mathcal N=1$ and $\mathcal N=2$ CFTs with $c=24$, where $Λ= Λ_{Leech}$ and the Niemeier lattice with root system $A_1^{24}$, respectively. The theory has a discrete symmetry group related to the sporadic group $M_{11}$.
This is the third in a series of three papers on the systematic analysis of rank 1 four dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs. In the first two papers we developed and carried out a strategy for classifying and constructing physical planar rank-1 Coulomb branch geometries of $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs. Here we describe general features of the Higgs and mixed branch geometries of the moduli space of these SCFTs, and use this, along with their Coulomb branch geometry, to compute their conformal and flavor central charges. We conclude with a summary of the state of the art for rank-1 $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs…
In this paper we begin mapping out the space of rank-2 $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal field theories (SCFTs) in four dimensions. This represents an ideal set of theories which can be potentially classified using purely quantum field-theoretic tools, thus providing a precious case study to probe the completeness of the current understanding of SCFTs, primarily derived from string theory constructions. Here, we collect and systematize a large amount of field theoretic data characterizing each theory. We also provide a detailed description of each case and determine the theories' Coulomb, Higgs a…
We find an infinite family of $4D$ $\mathcal{N}=2$ interacting superconformal field theories which enter the description of the strong-coupling limit of $SU(2N+1)$ gauge theories with hypermultiplets in the $\wedge^2(\square)+\text{Sym}^2(\square)$ . These theories arise from the compactification of the $6D$ $(2,0)$ theory of type $A_{2N}$ on a sphere with two full twisted punctures and one minimal untwisted puncture. For $N=1$, this theory is the "new" rank-1 SCFT with $Δ(u)=3$ of Argyres and Wittig. Using the superconformal index, we finally pin down the properties of this theory.
We continue to investigate the $\mathcal{N}=1$ deformations of four-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal field theories (SCFTs) labeled by a nilpotent element of the flavor symmetry. This triggers a renormalization group (RG) flow to an $\mathcal{N}=1$ SCFT. We systematically analyze all possible deformations of this type for certain classes of $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs: conformal SQCDs, generalized Argyres-Douglas theories and the $E_6$ SCFT. We find a number of examples where the amount of supersymmetry gets enhanced to $\mathcal{N}=2$ at the end point of the RG flow. Most notably, we find…
We describe a method to determine the anomaly polynomials of general 6d $\mathcal{N}=(2,0)$ and $\mathcal{N}=(1,0)$ SCFTs, in terms of the anomaly matching on their tensor branches. This method is almost purely field theoretical, and can be applied to all known 6d SCFTs. We demonstrate our method in many concrete examples, including $\mathcal{N}=(2,0)$ theories of arbitrary type and the theories on M5 branes on ALE singularities, reproducing the $N^3$ behavior. We check the results against the anomaly polynomials computed M-theoretically via the anomaly inflow.
We study a rich set of four-dimensional superconformal field theories (SCFTs) with both central charges identical: $a = c$. These are constructed via the diagonal $\mathcal{N}=2$ or $\mathcal{N}=1$ gauging of the flavor symmetry $G$ of a collection of $\mathcal{N}=2$ Argyres-Douglas theories of type $\mathcal{D}_p(G)$, with or without adjoint chiral multiplets, in arXiv:2106.12579 and arXiv:2111.12092. We compute superconformal indices of some theories where the rank of $G$ is low, performing a refined test for unitarity, and further determine the relevant and marginal operator content in deta…
In this work we construct the crossing symmetry equations for mixed correlators of two long and two BPS operators in 4D $\mathcal{N}=1$ SCFTs. The analysis presented here illustrates how our general group theoretic approach to long superblocks and tensor structures of superconformal algebras can be applied to give explicit ready-to-use expressions. In the case at hand, we obtain a system of four crossing symmetry equations for the relevant OPE coefficients. One of these four equations coincides with the equation found and analysed by Li, Meltzer and Stergiou by restricting to the superprimary …
Applying the Casimir operator to four-point functions in CFTs allows us to find the conformal blocks for any external operators. In this work, we initiate the program to find the superconformal blocks, using the super Casimir operator, for $4D$ ${\mathcal N}=1$ SCFTs. We begin by finding the most general four-point function with zero $U(1)_R$-charge, including all the possible nilpotent structures allowed by the superconformal algebra. We then study particular cases where some of the operators satisfy shortening conditions. Finally, we obtain the super Casimir equations for four point-function…
We initiate a systematic study of four dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal field theories (SCFTs) based on the analysis of their Coulomb branch geometries. Because these SCFTs are not uniquely characterized by their scale-invariant Coulomb branch geometries we also need information on their deformations. We construct all inequivalent such deformations preserving $\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetry and additional physical consistency conditions in the rank 1 case. These not only include all the ones previously predicted by S-duality, but also 16 additional deformations satisfying all the known…
We construct a four supercharges Liouville superconformal field theory in four dimensions. The Liouville superfield is chiral and its lowest component is a log-correlated complex scalar whose real part carries a background charge. The action consists of a supersymmetric Paneitz operator, a background supersymmetric $\mathcal{Q}$-curvature charge and an exponential potential. It localizes semiclassically on solutions that describe curved superspaces with a constant complex supersymmetric $\mathcal{Q}$-curvature. The theory is non-unitary with a continuous spectrum of scaling dimensions. We stud…
In this paper we introduce the characteristic dimension of a four dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal field theory, which is an extraordinary simple invariant determined by the scaling dimensions of its Coulomb branch operators. We prove that only nine values of the characteristic dimension are allowed, $-\infty$, 1 ,6/5, 4/3, 3/2, 2, 3, 4, and 6, thus giving a new organizing principle to the vast landscape of 4d $\mathcal N=2$ SCFTs. Whenever the characteristic dimension differs from 1 or 2, only very constrained special Kähler geometries (i.e. isotrivial, diagonal and rigid) are compa…
We present the general form of all timelike supersymmetric solutions to 3D U(1)^3 gauged supergravity, a known consistent truncation of string theory. We uncover a rich vacuum structure, including an infinite class of new timelike-warped AdS_3 (Goedel) and timelike-warped dS_3 critical points. We outline the construction of supersymmetric flows, driven by irrelevant scalar operators in the SCFT, which interpolate between critical points. For flows from AdS_3 to Goedel, the natural candidate for the central charge decreases along the flow. Flows to timelike-warped dS_3 exhibit topology change.
This is the second in a series of three papers on systematic analysis of rank 1 Coulomb branch geometries of four dimensional $\mathcal{N}$=2 SCFTs. In the first paper we developed a strategy for classifying physical rank-1 CB geometries of $\mathcal{N}$=2 SCFTs. Here we show how to carry out this strategy computationally to construct the Seiberg-Witten curves and one-forms for all the rank-1 SCFTs. Explicit expressions are given for all cases, with the exception of the $N_f$=4 SU(2) gauge theory and the En SCFTs which were previously constructed. Our classification includes all known rank-1 t…
We study a set of four-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal field theories (SCFTs) $\widehatΓ(G)$ labeled by a pair of simply-laced Lie groups $Γ$ and $G$. They are constructed out of gauging a number of $\mathcal{D}_p(G)$ and $(G, G)$ conformal matter SCFTs; therefore they do not have Lagrangian descriptions in general. For $Γ= D_4, E_6, E_7, E_8$ and some special choices of $G$, the resulting theories have identical central charges $(a=c)$ without taking any large $N$ limit. Moreover, we find that the Schur indices for such theories can be written in terms of that of $\mathcal{N}=4$ su…

We construct a Liouville superconformal field theory with eight real supercharges in four dimensions. The Liouville superfield is an $\mathcal{N}=2$ chiral superfield with sixteen bosonic and sixteen fermionic component fields. Its lowest component is a log-correlated complex scalar field whose real part carries a background charge. The theory is non-unitary with a continuous spectrum of scaling dimensions. We study its quantum dynamics on the supersymmetric 4-sphere and show that the classical background charge is not corrected quantum mechanically. We calculate the super-Weyl anomaly coeffic…
We construct several novel examples of 3d $\mathcal{N}=2$ models whose free energy scales as $N^{3/2}$ at large $N$. This is the first step towards the identification of field theories with an M-theory dual. Furthermore, we match the volumes extracted from the free energy with the ones computed from the Hilbert series. We perform a similar analysis for the 4d parents of the 3d models, matching the volume extracted from the $a$ conformal anomaly to that obtained from the Hilbert series. For some of the 4d models, we show the existence of a Sasaki-Einstein metric on the internal space of the can…
We study the macroscopics of 2d $\mathcal{N}=(0,4)$ SCFTs arising from F-theory constructions. The class of 2d SCFTs we consider live on black strings which are obtained by wrapping D3-branes on a curve in the base of a possibly singular elliptically fibered Calabi-Yau threefold. In addition, we allow the D3-branes to probe ALE or ALF spaces transversely. We compute anomaly coefficients of these SCFTs by determining Chern-Simons terms in the 3d action resulting from the reduction of 6d $\mathcal{N}=(1,0)$ supergravity on the compact space surrounding the black string. Essential contributions t…
In this paper we present a beautifully consistent web of evidence for the existence of interacting 4d rank-1 $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs obtained from gauging discrete subgroups of global symmetries of other existing 4d rank-1 $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs. The global symmetries that can be gauged involve a non-trivial combination of discrete subgroups of the $U(1)_R$, low-energy EM duality group $SL(2,\mathbb{Z})$, and the outer automorphism group of the flavor symmetry algebra, Out($F$). The theories that we construct are remarkable in many ways: (i) two of them have exceptional $F_4$ and $G_2$ flavor gro…
We study the stratification of the singular locus of four dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ Coulomb branches. We present a set of self-consistency conditions on this stratification which can be used to extend the classification of scale-invariant rank 1 Coulomb branch geometries to two complex dimensions, and beyond. The calculational simplicity of the arguments presented here stems from the fact that the main ingredients needed -- the rank 1 deformation patterns and the pattern of inclusions of rank 2 strata -- are discrete topological data which satisfy strong self-consistency conditions through t…
