Given a tensor category C, one constructs its Drinfeld center Z(C) which is a braided tensor category, having as objects pairs (X, lambda), where X in Obj(C) and lambda is a half-braiding. For a premodular category C, we construct a new category Zel(C) which we call the Elliptic Drinfeld Center, which has objects (X, lambda1, lambda2), where the lambda i's are half-braidings that satisfy some compatibility conditions. We discuss an SL2(Z)-action on Zel(C) that is related to the anomaly appearing in Reshetikhin-Turaev theory. This construction is motivated from the study of the extended Crane-Yetter TQFT, in particular the category associated to the once punctured torus.
A general procedure is presented which associates to a finite crossed module a premodular category, generalizing the representation categories of a finite group and of its double, and the extent to which the resulting category fails to be modular is explained.
In this note some new Frobenius type divisibility results are obtained for premodular categories. In particular, we extend Corollary 3.4 of [Yu20] from the settings of super-modular categories to arbitrary pseudo-unitary premodular categories.
The annulus comes with a "stacking" operation which glues two annuli into one. This provides a tensor product structure on the category of boundary values $Z_{\text{CY}}(\text{Ann})$ associated to the annulus in an extended Crane-Yetter TQFT. It is known that $Z_{\text{CY}}(\text{Ann}) \simeq \mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{A})$, the Drinfeld center of the premodular category $\mathcal{A}$ from which $Z_{\text{CY}}$ is constructed. We give an explicit formula for the tensor product on $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{A})$ that corresponds to the stacking operation on $Z_{\text{CY}}(\text{Ann})$.
It is known that finite crossed modules provide premodular tensor categories. These categories are in fact modularizable. We construct the modularization and show that it is equivalent to the module category of a finite Drinfeld double.
The Crane-Yetter state sum is an invariant of closed 4-manifolds, defined in terms of a triangulation, based on 15-j symbols associated to the category A of representations over quantum sl2 (at a root of unity). In this thesis, we define the state sum in terms of a 'PLCW decomposition', which generalizes triangulations, and generalize A to an arbitrary premodular category. We extend the state sum to 4-manifolds with corners, making it an extended TQFT. We also develop a parallel theory based on skeins, which are essentially A-colored graphs, and we show that the two theories are equivalent. Fo…
If H is a Hopf algebra with bijective antipode and α, β\in Aut_{Hopf}(H), we introduce a category_H{\cal YD}^H(α, β), generalizing both Yetter-Drinfeld and anti-Yetter-Drinfeld modules. We construct a braided T-category {\cal YD}(H) having all these categories as components, which if H is finite dimensional coincides with the representations of a certain quasitriangular T-coalgebra DT(H) that we construct. We also prove that if (α, β) admits a so-called pair in involution, then_H{\cal YD}^H(α, β) is isomorphic to the category of usual Yetter-Drinfeld modules_H{\cal YD}^H.
We continue the study of the representation theory of a regular weak multiplier bialgebra with full comultiplication, started in arXiv:1306.1466, arXiv:1311.2730. Yetter-Drinfeld modules are defined as modules and comodules, with compatibility conditions that are equivalent to a canonical object being (weakly) central in the category of modules, and equivalent also to another canonical object being (weakly) central in the category of comodules. Yetter-Drinfeld modules are shown to constitute a monoidal category via the (co)module tensor product over the base (co)algebra. Finite dimensional Yet…
The aim of this paper is to define and study Yetter-Drinfeld modules over Hom-bialgebras, a generalized version of bialgebras obtained by modifying the algebra and coalgebra structures by a homomorphism. Yetter-Drinfeld modules over a Hom-bialgebra with bijective structure map provide solutions of the Hom-Yang-Baxter equation. The category $_H^H{\mathcal YD}$ of Yetter-Drinfeld modules with bijective structure maps over a Hom-bialgebra H with bijective structure map can be organized, in two different ways, as a quasi-braided pre-tensor category. If H is quasitriangular (respectively coquasitri…
We generalize various properties of Yetter-Drinfeld modules over Hopf algebras to quasi-Hopf algebras. The dual of a finite dimensional Yetter-Drinfeld module is again a Yetter-Drinfeld module. The algebra $H_0$ in the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules that can be obtained by modifying the multiplication in a proper way is quantum commutative. We give a Structure Theorem for Hopf modules in the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules, and deduce the existence and uniqueness of integrals from it.
We provide an analog of the Joyal-Street center construction and of the Kassel-Turaev categorical quantum double in the context of the crossed categories introduced by Turaev. Then, we focus or attention to the case of categories of representation. In particular, we introduce the notion of a Yetter-Drinfeld module over a crossed group coalgebra H and we prove that both the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules over H and the center of the category of representations of H as well as the category of representations of the quantum double of H are isomorphic as braided crossed categories.
Using M-theory in physics, Cho, Gang, and Kim (JHEP 2020, 115 (2020) ) recently outlined a program that connects two parallel subjects of three dimensional manifolds, namely, geometric topology and quantum topology. They suggest that classical topological invariants such as Chern-Simons invariants of $\text{SL}(2,\mathbb{C})$-flat connections and adjoint Reidemeister torsions of a three manifold can be packaged together to produce a $(2+1)$-topological quantum field theory, which is essentially equivalent to a modular tensor category. It is further conjectured that every modular tensor categor…
Let H be a bialgebra and D an H-bimodule algebra H-bicomodule coalgebra. We find sufficient conditions on D for the L-R-smash product algebra and coalgebra structures on D\otimes H to form a bialgebra (in this case we say that (H, D) is an L-R-admissible pair), called L-R-smash biproduct. The Radford biproduct is a particular case, and so is, up to isomorphism, a double biproduct with trivial pairing. We construct a prebraided monoidal category {\cal LR}(H), whose objects are H-bimodules H-bicomodules M endowed with left-left and right-right Yetter-Drinfeld module as well as left-right and rig…
Let $(R^{\vee},R)$ be a dual pair of Hopf algebras in the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules over a Hopf algebra $H$ with bijective antipode. We show that there is a braided monoidal isomorphism between rational left Yetter-Drinfeld modules over the bosonizations of $R$ and of $R^{\vee}$, respectively. As an application of this very general category isomorphism we obtain a natural proof of the existence of reflections of Nichols algebras of semisimple Yetter-Drinfeld modules over $H$. Key words: Hopf algebras, quantum groups, Weyl groupoid
The category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules over a Hopf algebra (with bijektive antipode over a field) is a braided monoidal category. Given a Hopf algebra in this category then the primitive elements of this Hopf algebra do not form an ordinary Lie algebra anymore. We introduce the notion of a (generalized) Lie algebra in the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules such that the set of primitive elements of a Hopf algebra is a Lie algebra in this sense. It has n-ary partially defined Lie multiplications on certain symmetric submodules of n- fold tensor products. They satisfy antisymmetry and Jacobi i…
We classify the ribbon structures of the Drinfeld center $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{C})$ of a finite tensor category $\mathcal{C}$. Our result generalizes Kauffman and Radford's classification result of the ribbon elements of the Drinfeld double of a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra. As a consequence, we see that $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{C})$ is a modular tensor category in the sense of Lyubashenko if $\mathcal{C}$ is a spherical finite tensor category in the sense of Douglas, Schommer-Pries and Snyder.
We introduce Yetter-Drinfeld modules over a weak Hopf algebra $H$, and show that the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules is isomorphic to the center of the category of $H$-modules. The categories of left-left, left-right, right-left and right-right Yetter-Drinfeld modules are isomorphic as braided monoidal categories. Yetter-Drinfeld modules can be viewed as weak Doi-Hopf modules, and, a fortiori, as weak entwined modules. If $H$ is finitely generated and projective, then we introduce the Drinfeld double using duality results between entwining structures and smash product structures, and show …
In this paper we introduce the notion of weak operator and the theory of Yetter-Drinfeld modules over a weak braided Hopf algebra with invertible antipode in a strict monoidal category. We prove that the class of such objects constitutes a non strict monoidal category. It is also shown that this category is not trivial, that is to say that it admits objects generated by the adjoint action (coaction) associated to the weak braided Hopf algebra.
We prove that a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra with the dual Chevalley Property over a field of characteristic zero is quasi-isomorphic to a Radford-Majid bosonization whenever the third Hochschild cohomology group in the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules of its diagram with coefficients in the base field vanishes. Moreover we show that this vanishing occurs in meaningful examples where the diagram is a Nichols algebra.
We prove that the Drinfeld double of the category of sheaves on an orbifold is equivalent to the category of sheves on the corresponding inertia orbifold.
We define a symmetric tensor product on the Drinfeld centre of a symmetric fusion category, in addition to its usual tensor product. We examine what this tensor product looks like under Tannaka duality, identifying the symmetric fusion category with the representation category of a finite (super)-group. Under this identification, the Drinfeld centre is the category of equivariant vector bundles over the finite group (underlying the super-group, in the super case). In the non-super case, we show that the symmetric tensor product corresponds to the fibrewise tensor product of these vector bundle…
We classify the pivotal structures of the Drinfeld center $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{C})$ of a finite tensor category $\mathcal{C}$. As a consequence, every pivotal structure of $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{C})$ can be obtained from a pair $(β, j)$ consisting of an invertible object $β$ of $\mathcal{C}$ and an isomorphism $j: β\otimes (-) \otimes β^* \to (-)^{**}$ of monoidal functors.
We show that the Drinfeld centre of a symmetric fusion category is a bilax 2-fold monoidal category. That is, it carries two monoidal structures, the convolution and symmetric tensor products, that are bilax monoidal functors with respect to each other. We additionally show that the braiding and symmetry for the convolution and symmetric tensor products are compatible with this bilax structure. We establish these properties without referring to Tannaka duality for the symmetric fusion category. This has the advantage that all constructions are done purely in terms of the fusion category struct…
For a quasi-Hopf algebra $H$, a left $H$-comodule algebra $\mf{B}$ and a right $H$-module coalgebra $C$ we will characterize the category of Doi-Hopf modules ${}^C{\cal M}(H)_{\mf{B}}$ in terms of modules. We will also show that for an $H$-bicomodule algebra $\mb{A}$ and an $H$-bimodule coalgebra $C$ the category of generalized Yetter-Drinfeld modules ${}_{\mb{A}}{\cal YD}(H)^C$ is isomorphic to a certain category of Doi-Hopf modules. Using this isomorphism we will transport the properties from the category of Doi-Hopf modules to the category of generalized Yetter-Drinfeld modules.
We define notions of pivotal and ribbon objects in a monoidal category. These constructions give pivotal or ribbon monoidal categories from a monoidal category which is not necessarily with duals. We apply this construction to the braided monoidal category of Yetter--Drinfeld modules over a Hopf algebra. This gives rise to the notion of ribbon Yetter--Drinfeld modules over a Hopf algebra, which form ribbon categories. This gives an invariant of tangles.
Drinfeld defined a unitarized R-matrix for any quantum group U_q(g). This gives a commutor for the category of U_q(g) representations, making it into a coboundary category. Henriques and Kamnitzer defined another commutor which also gives U_q(g) representations the structure of a coboundary category. We show that a particular case of Henriques and Kamnitzer's construction agrees with Drinfeld's commutor. We then describe the action of Drinfeld's commutor on a tensor product of two crystal bases, and explain the relation to the crystal commutor.
We introduce, for a symmetric fusion category $\mathcal{A}$ with Drinfeld centre $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{A})$, the notion of $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{A})$-crossed braided tensor category. These are categories that are enriched over $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{A})$ equipped with a symmetric tensor product, while being braided monoidal with respect to the usual tensor product on $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{A})$. In the Tannakian case where $\mathcal{A}=\mathbf{Rep}(G)$ for a finite group $G$, the 2-category of $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{A})$-crossed braided categories is shown to be equivalent to the 2-category of $G…
We report on two classes of autoequivalences of the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules over a finite group, or, equivalently the Drinfeld center of the category of representations of a finite group. Both operations are related to the $r$-th power operation, with $r$ relatively prime to the exponent of the group. One is defined more generally for the group-theoretical fusion category defined by a finite group and an arbitrary subgroup, while the other seems particular to the case of Yetter-Drinfeld modules. Both autoequivalences preserve higher Frobenius-Schur indicators up to Galois conjugati…
Let $k$ be a field, and $H$ a Hopf algebra with bijective antipode. If $H$ is commutative, noetherian, semisimple and cosemisimple, then the category ${}_{H}{\mathcal {YD}}^H$ of Yetter-Drinfeld modules is semisimple. We also prove a similar statement for the category of Long dimodules, without the assumption that $H$ is commutative.
This paper is a continuation of the series of papers "Quantization of Lie bialgebras (QLB) I-V". We show that the image of a Kac-Moody Lie bialgebra with the standard quasitriangular structure under the quantization functor defined in QLB-I,II is isomorphic to the Drinfeld-Jimbo quantization of this Lie bialgebra, with the standard quasitriangular structure. This implies that when the quantization parameter is formal, then the category O for the quantized Kac-Moody algebra is equivalent, as a braided tensor category, to the category O over the corresponding classical Kac-Moody algebra, with th…
We establish a correspondence among simple objects of the relative commutant of a full fusion subcategory in a larger fusion category in the sense of Drinfeld, irreducible half-braidings of objects in the larger fusion category with respect to the fusion subcategory, and minimal central projections in the relative tube algebra. Based on this, we explicitly compute certain relative Drinfeld commutants of fusion categories arising from $α$-induction for braided subfactors. We present examples arising from chiral conformal field theory.
An interesting open question is to determine the group of monoidal autoequivalences of the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules over a finite group $G$, or equivalently the group of Bigalois objects over the dual of the Drinfeld double $DG$. In particular one would hope to decompose this group into terms related to monoidal autoequivalences for the group algebra, the dual group algebra and interaction terms. We report on our progress in this question: We first prove a decomposition of the group of Hopf algebra automorphisms of the Drinfeld double into three subgroups, which reduces in the case …
We rederive a popular nonsemisimple fusion algebra in the braided context, from a Nichols algebra. Together with the decomposition that we find for the product of simple Yetter-Drinfeld modules, this strongly suggests that the relevant Nichols algebra furnishes an equivalence with the triplet W-algebra in the (p,1) logarithmic models of conformal field theory. For this, the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules is to be regarded as an \textit{entwined} category (the one with monodromy, but not with braiding).
In this paper, the Drinfeld center of a monoidal category is generalized to a class of mixed Drinfeld centers. This gives a unified picture for the Drinfeld center and a natural Heisenberg analogue. Further, there is an action of the former on the latter. This picture is translated to a description in terms of Yetter-Drinfeld and Hopf modules over quasi-bialgebras in a braided monoidal category. Via braided reconstruction theory, intrinsic definitions of braided Drinfeld and Heisenberg doubles are obtained, together with a generalization of the result in [Lu94] that the Heisenberg double is a …
In this paper we prove a formula that relates Müger's centralizer in the category of representations of a factorizable Hopf algebra to the notion of Hopf kernel of a representation of the dual Hopf algebra. Using this relation we obtain a complete description for Müger's centralizer of some fusion subcategories of the fusion category of finite dimensional representations of a Drinfeld double of a semisimple Hopf algebra.
Consider a Frobenius kernel G in a split semisimple algebraic group, in very good characteristic. We provide an analysis of support for the Drinfeld center Z(rep(G)) of the representation category for G, or equivalently for the representation category of the Drinfeld double of kG. We show that thick ideals in the corresponding stable category are classified by cohomological support, and calculate the Balmer spectrum of the stable category of Z(rep(G)). We also construct a $π$-point style rank variety for the Drinfeld double, identify $π$-point support with cohomological support, and show that …
We introduce and study a category of representations of the Borel algebra, associated with a quantum loop algebra of non-twisted type. We construct fundamental representations for this category as a limit of the Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules over the quantum loop algebra and we establish explicit formulas for their characters. We prove that general simple modules in this category are classified by n-tuples of rational functions in one variable, which are regular and non-zero at the origin but may have a zero or a pole at infinity.
The class of quantum affinizations includes quantum affine algebras and quantum toroidal algebras. In general they have no Hopf algebra structure, but have a "coproduct" (the Drinfeld coproduct) which does not produce tensor products of modules in the usual way because it is defined in a completion. In this paper we propose a new process to produce quantum fusion modules from it : for all quantum affinizations, we construct by deformation and renormalization a new (non semi-simple) tensor category Mod. For quantum affine algebras this process is new and different from the usual tensor product.…
We generalize Drinfeld's notion of the center of a tensor category to bicategories. In this generality, we present a spectral sequence to compute the basic invariants of Drinfeld centers: the abelian monoid of isomorphism classes of objects, and the abelian automorphism group of its identity object. There is an associated obstruction theory that explains the difference between the Drinfeld center and the center of the classifying category. For examples, we discuss bicategories of groups and bands, rings and bimodules, as well as fusion categories.
Let $\mathcal{C}$ be a spherical fusion category. The goal of this article is to present the tube category of $\mathcal{C}$, denoted $\mathcal{TC}$, as giving an alternative graphical perspective on the Drinfeld centre of $\mathcal{C}$, denoted $Z(\mathcal{C})$. We then exploit this perspective to obtain an alternative proof of the equivalence between $Z(\mathcal{C})$ and $\mathcal{C} \boxtimes \bar{\mathcal{C}}$ when $\mathcal{C}$ is modular. Sections 2-4 provide a survey of the required prerequisites; readers already familiar with graphical calculus in fusion categories should start at Secti…
Let $\A$ be a finitary hereditary abelian category and $D(\A)$ be its reduced Drinfeld double Hall algebra. By giving explicit formulas in $D(\A)$ for left and right mutations, we show that the subalgebras of $D(\A)$ generated by exceptional sequences are invariant under mutation equivalences. As an application, we obtain that if $\A$ is the category of finite dimensional modules over a finite dimensional hereditary algebra, or the category of coherent sheaves on a weighted projective line, the double composition algebra of $\A$ is generated by any complete exceptional sequence. Moreover, for …
For M and N finite module categories over a finite tensor category C, the category Rex_C(M,N) of right exact module functors is a finite module category over the Drinfeld center Z(C). We study the internal Homs of this module category, which we call internal natural transformations. With the help of certain integration functors that map C-C-bimodule functors to objects of Z(C), we express them as ends over internal Homs and define horizontal and vertical compositions. We show that if M and N are exact C-modules and C is pivotal, then the Z(C)-module Rex_C(M,N) is exact. We compute its relative…
Let $\mathcal{A}$ be an arbitrary hereditary abelian category that may not have enough projective objects. For example, $\mathcal{A}$ can be the category of finite-dimensional representations of a quiver or the category of coherent sheaves on a smooth projective curve or on a weighted projective line. Inspired by the works of Bridgeland and Gorsky, we define the semi-derived Ringel-Hall algebra of $\mathcal{A}$, denoted by $\mathcal{S}\mathcal{D}\mathcal{H}_{\mathbb{Z}/2}(\mathcal{A})$, to be the localization of a quotient algebra of the Ringel-Hall algebra of the category of $\mathbb{Z}/2$-gr…
A braided tensor category $FM_κ$ of `factorizable D-modules' over configuration spaces is introduced, analogous to the category $FS_q$ of factorizable sheaves from q-alg/9604001. This category is equivalent to the category of finite dimensional representations of a complex semisimple Lie algebra $\frak{g}$, with the Drinfeld's Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov tensor product. This description, together with the result of op.cit., gives a new, "Riemann-Hilbert" proof of the Drinfeld's theorem establishing an equivalence of the above tensor category with the category of finite dimensional $U_q\frak{g}$-mod…
We compute the R-matrix which intertwines two dimensional evaluation representations with Drinfeld comultiplication for U_q(\widehat{sl}_2). This R-matrix contains terms proportional to the delta-function. We construct the algebra A(R) generated by the elements of the matrices L^\pm(z) with relations determined by R. In the category of highest weight representations, there is a Hopf algebra isomorphism between A(R) and an extension \overline{U}_q(\widehat{sl}_2)} of Drinfeld's algebra.
Let C_n denote the representation category of a finite supergroup generated by purely odd n-dimensional vector space. We compute the Brauer-Picard group BrPic(C_n) of C_n. This is done by identifying BrPic(C_n) with the group of braided tensor autoequivalences of the Drinfeld center of C_n and studying the action of the latter group on the categorical Lagrangian Grassmannian of C_n. We show that this action corresponds to the action of a projective symplectic group on a classical Lagrangian Grassmannian.
We present characterizations of braided co-Frobenius Hopf algebras in the braided tensor category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules over a Hopf algebra extending those already known for co-Frobenius Hopf algebras.
We consider the finite generation property for cohomology of a finite tensor category C, which requires that the self-extension algebra of the unit Ext*_C(1,1) is a finitely generated algebra and that, for each object V in C, the graded extension group Ext*_C(1,V) is a finitely generated module over the aforementioned algebra. We prove that this cohomological finiteness property is preserved under duality (with respect to exact module categories) and taking the Drinfeld center, under suitable restrictions on C. For example, the stated result holds when C is a braided tensor category of odd Fro…
