The annulus comes with a "stacking" operation which glues two annuli into one. This provides a tensor product structure on the category of boundary values $Z_{\text{CY}}(\text{Ann})$ associated to the annulus in an extended Crane-Yetter TQFT. It is known that $Z_{\text{CY}}(\text{Ann}) \simeq \mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{A})$, the Drinfeld center of the premodular category $\mathcal{A}$ from which $Z_{\text{CY}}$ is constructed. We give an explicit formula for the tensor product on $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{A})$ that corresponds to the stacking operation on $Z_{\text{CY}}(\text{Ann})$.
We classify the ribbon structures of the Drinfeld center $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{C})$ of a finite tensor category $\mathcal{C}$. Our result generalizes Kauffman and Radford's classification result of the ribbon elements of the Drinfeld double of a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra. As a consequence, we see that $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{C})$ is a modular tensor category in the sense of Lyubashenko if $\mathcal{C}$ is a spherical finite tensor category in the sense of Douglas, Schommer-Pries and Snyder.
We define a symmetric tensor product on the Drinfeld centre of a symmetric fusion category, in addition to its usual tensor product. We examine what this tensor product looks like under Tannaka duality, identifying the symmetric fusion category with the representation category of a finite (super)-group. Under this identification, the Drinfeld centre is the category of equivariant vector bundles over the finite group (underlying the super-group, in the super case). In the non-super case, we show that the symmetric tensor product corresponds to the fibrewise tensor product of these vector bundle…
We classify the pivotal structures of the Drinfeld center $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{C})$ of a finite tensor category $\mathcal{C}$. As a consequence, every pivotal structure of $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{C})$ can be obtained from a pair $(β, j)$ consisting of an invertible object $β$ of $\mathcal{C}$ and an isomorphism $j: β\otimes (-) \otimes β^* \to (-)^{**}$ of monoidal functors.
We introduce, for a symmetric fusion category $\mathcal{A}$ with Drinfeld centre $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{A})$, the notion of $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{A})$-crossed braided tensor category. These are categories that are enriched over $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{A})$ equipped with a symmetric tensor product, while being braided monoidal with respect to the usual tensor product on $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{A})$. In the Tannakian case where $\mathcal{A}=\mathbf{Rep}(G)$ for a finite group $G$, the 2-category of $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{A})$-crossed braided categories is shown to be equivalent to the 2-category of $G…
We generalize Drinfeld's notion of the center of a tensor category to bicategories. In this generality, we present a spectral sequence to compute the basic invariants of Drinfeld centers: the abelian monoid of isomorphism classes of objects, and the abelian automorphism group of its identity object. There is an associated obstruction theory that explains the difference between the Drinfeld center and the center of the classifying category. For examples, we discuss bicategories of groups and bands, rings and bimodules, as well as fusion categories.
In this work, using the functoriality of Drinfeld center of fusion categories, we generalize an earlier result on the functoriality of full center of simple separable algebras in a fixed fusion category to all fusion categories. This generalization produces a new center functor, which involves both Drinfeld center and full center and will be called the pointed Drinfeld center functor. We prove that this pointed Drinfeld center functor is a symmetric monoidal equivalence. It turns out that this functor provides a precise and rather complete mathematical formulation of the boundary-bulk relation…
We show that the Drinfeld centre of a symmetric fusion category is a bilax 2-fold monoidal category. That is, it carries two monoidal structures, the convolution and symmetric tensor products, that are bilax monoidal functors with respect to each other. We additionally show that the braiding and symmetry for the convolution and symmetric tensor products are compatible with this bilax structure. We establish these properties without referring to Tannaka duality for the symmetric fusion category. This has the advantage that all constructions are done purely in terms of the fusion category struct…
Given a tensor category C, one constructs its Drinfeld center Z(C) which is a braided tensor category, having as objects pairs (X, lambda), where X in Obj(C) and lambda is a half-braiding. For a premodular category C, we construct a new category Zel(C) which we call the Elliptic Drinfeld Center, which has objects (X, lambda1, lambda2), where the lambda i's are half-braidings that satisfy some compatibility conditions. We discuss an SL2(Z)-action on Zel(C) that is related to the anomaly appearing in Reshetikhin-Turaev theory. This construction is motivated from the study of the extended Crane-Y…
For M and N finite module categories over a finite tensor category C, the category Rex_C(M,N) of right exact module functors is a finite module category over the Drinfeld center Z(C). We study the internal Homs of this module category, which we call internal natural transformations. With the help of certain integration functors that map C-C-bimodule functors to objects of Z(C), we express them as ends over internal Homs and define horizontal and vertical compositions. We show that if M and N are exact C-modules and C is pivotal, then the Z(C)-module Rex_C(M,N) is exact. We compute its relative…
In this paper, the Drinfeld center of a monoidal category is generalized to a class of mixed Drinfeld centers. This gives a unified picture for the Drinfeld center and a natural Heisenberg analogue. Further, there is an action of the former on the latter. This picture is translated to a description in terms of Yetter-Drinfeld and Hopf modules over quasi-bialgebras in a braided monoidal category. Via braided reconstruction theory, intrinsic definitions of braided Drinfeld and Heisenberg doubles are obtained, together with a generalization of the result in [Lu94] that the Heisenberg double is a …
Motivated by the relation between the Drinfeld double and central property (T) for quantum groups, given a rigid C*-tensor category C and a unitary half-braiding on an ind-object, we construct a *-representation of the fusion algebra of C. This allows us to present an alternative approach to recent results of Popa and Vaes, who defined C*-algebras of monoidal categories and introduced property (T) for them. As an example we analyze categories C of Hilbert bimodules over a II$_1$-factor. We show that in this case the Drinfeld center is monoidally equivalent to a category of Hilbert bimodules ov…
We report on two classes of autoequivalences of the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules over a finite group, or, equivalently the Drinfeld center of the category of representations of a finite group. Both operations are related to the $r$-th power operation, with $r$ relatively prime to the exponent of the group. One is defined more generally for the group-theoretical fusion category defined by a finite group and an arbitrary subgroup, while the other seems particular to the case of Yetter-Drinfeld modules. Both autoequivalences preserve higher Frobenius-Schur indicators up to Galois conjugati…
We consider the finite generation property for cohomology of a finite tensor category C, which requires that the self-extension algebra of the unit Ext*_C(1,1) is a finitely generated algebra and that, for each object V in C, the graded extension group Ext*_C(1,V) is a finitely generated module over the aforementioned algebra. We prove that this cohomological finiteness property is preserved under duality (with respect to exact module categories) and taking the Drinfeld center, under suitable restrictions on C. For example, the stated result holds when C is a braided tensor category of odd Fro…
Let $\mathcal{D}$ be the Drinfeld double of $\mathcal{FK}_3\#\Bbbk{\mathbb S}_3$. The simple $\mathcal{D}$-modules were described in arXiv:1409.0438. In the present work, we describe the indecomposable summands of the tensor product between them. We classify the extensions of the simple modules and show that $\mathcal{D}$ is of wild representation type. We also investigate the projective modules and their tensor products.
We consider generalized Haagerup categories such that $1 \oplus X$ admits a $Q$-system for every non-invertible simple object $X$. We show that in such a category, the group of order two invertible objects has size at most four. We describe the simple objects of the Drinfeld center and give partial formulas for the modular data. We compute the remaining corner of the modular data for several examples and make conjectures about the general case. We also consider several types of equivariantizations and de-equivariantizations of generalized Haagerup categories and describe their Drinfeld centers…
We classify finite pointed braided tensor categories admitting a fiber functor in terms of bilinear forms on symmetric Yetter-Drinfeld modules over abelian groups. We describe the groupoid formed by braided equivalences of such categories in terms of certain metric data, generalizing the well-known result of Joyal and Street for fusion categories. We study symmetric centers and ribbon structures of pointed braided tensor categories and examine their Drinfeld centers.
Given a Hopf algebra H, we study modules and bimodules over an algebra A that carry an H-action, as well as their morphisms and connections. Bimodules naturally arise when considering noncommutative analogues of tensor bundles. For quasitriangular Hopf algebras and bimodules with an extra quasi-commutativity property we induce connections on the tensor product over A of two bimodules from connections on the individual bimodules. This construction applies to arbitrary connections, i.e. not necessarily H-equivariant ones, and further extends to the tensor algebra generated by a bimodule and its …
We revisit the derivation of Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations in the case of nonsemisimple categories of modules of a superalgebra in the case of the generic affne level and representations parameters. A proof of existence of asymptotic solutions and their properties for the superalgebra $gl(1|1)$ gives a basis for the proof of existence associator which satisfy braided tensor categories requirements. Braided tensor category structure of $U_h(gl(1|1))$ quantum algebra calculated, and the tensor product ring is shown to be isomorphic to $gl(1|1)$ ring, for the same generic relations between the…
In this work, inspired by some physical intuitions, we define a series of symmetry enriched categories to describe symmetry enriched topological (SET) orders, and define a new tensor product, called the relative tensor product, which describes the stacking of 2+1D SET orders. Then we choose and modify the domain and codomain categories, and manage to make the Drinfeld center a fully faithful symmetric monoidal functor. It turns out that this functor, named the symmetry enriched center functor, provides a precise and rather complete mathematical formulation of the boundary-bulk relation of symm…
We prove that the notion of Drinfeld center defines a functor from the category of indecomposable multi-tensor categories with morphisms given by bimodules to that of braided tensor categories with morphisms given by monoidal bimodules. Moreover, we apply some ideas from the physics of topological orders to prove that the center functor restricted to indecomposable multi-fusion categories (with additional conditions on the target category) is fully faithful. As byproducts, we provide new proofs to some important known results in fusion categories. In physics, this fully faithful functor gives …
We introduce the notions of categorical integrals and categorical cointegrals of a finite tensor category $\mathcal{C}$ by using a certain adjunction between $\mathcal{C}$ and its Drinfeld center $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{C})$. These notions can be identified with integrals and cointegrals of a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra $H$ if $\mathcal{C}$ is the representation category of $H$. We generalize basic results on integrals and cointegrals of a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra (such as the existence, the uniqueness, and the Maschke theorem) to finite tensor categories. Motivated by results of Lore…
We define integrable representations of quantum toroidal algebras of type A by tensor product, using the Drinfeld "coproduct". This allow us to recover the vector representations recently introduced by Feigin-Jimbo-Miwa-Mukhin [6] and constructed by the author [21] as a subfamily of extremal loop weight modules. In addition we get new extremal loop weight modules as subquotients of tensor powers of vector representations. As an application we obtain finite-dimensional representations of quantum toroidal algebras by specializing the quantum parameter at roots of unity.
In the paper "On some unsolved problems in quantum group theory", V.Drinfeld formulated the problem of the existence of a universal quantization for Lie bialgebras. When the paper "Tensor structures arising from affine Lie algebras, III", by Kazhdan and Lusztig, appeared, Drinfeld asked whether its methods could be useful for the problem of universal quantization of Lie bialgebras. In this paper we use these methods to construct the universal quantization, which gives a positive answer to Drinfeld's question. We also show the existence of universal quantization of classical r-matrices, unitary…
