In this paper, we study warped products of contact skew-CR submanifolds, called contact skew CR-warped products. We establish an inequality for the squared norm of the second fundamental form in terms of the warping function and the slant angle. The equality case in the statement of the inequality is investigated and some applications of derived inequality are given. Furthermore, we provide a non-trivial example of such submanifolds.
The object of this paper is to study the invariant submanifolds of Sasakian generalized-Sasakian-space-form. Here, we obtain some equivalent conditions for an invariant submanifold of a Sasakian generalized-Sasakian-space-forms to be totally geodesic.
Warped product CR-submanifolds in Kaehlerian manifolds were intensively studied only since 2001 after the impulse given by B.Y. Chen. Immediately after, another line of research, similar to that concerning Sasakian geometry as the odd dimensional version of Kaehlerian geometry, was developed, namely warped product contact CR-submanifolds in Sasakian manifolds. In this note we proved that there exists no proper doubly warped product contact CR-submanifolds in trans-Sasakian manifolds.
In the present paper first, we define the conformal Sasakian manifolds and then we study geometry of invariant, anti-invariant and CR-submanifolds of conformal Sasakian manifolds.
In [5], D. Fetcu and C. Oniciuc presented the classification result for biharmonic $\mathcal{C}$-parallel Legendrian submanifolds in $7$-dimensional Sasakian space forms. However, it is incomplete. In this paper, all such submanifolds are explicitly determined.
We introduce a weaker notion of generic submanifold of a Sasakian manifold and we prove a Frankel type theorem for this kind of submanifolds under suitable hypotesis on the index of the scalar Levi forms determined by normal directions. It concerns the intersection between a generic and an invariant submanifold and the intersection between two generic submanifolds. From this theorem we derive some topological information about generic submanifolds of Sasakian space forms.
We find the characterization of maximum dimensional proper-biharmonic integral $\mathcal{C}$-parallel submanifolds of a Sasakian space form and then classify such submanifolds in a 7-dimensional Sasakian space form. Working in the sphere $\mathbb{S}^7$ we explicitly find all 3-dimensional proper-biharmonic integral $C$-parallel submanifolds. We also determine the proper-biharmonic parallel Lagrangian submanifolds of $\mathbb{C}P^3$.
We classify the biharmonic Legendre curves in a Sasakian space form, and obtain their explicit parametric equations in the $(2n+1)$-dimensional unit sphere endowed with the canonical and deformed Sasakian structures defined by Tanno. Then, composing with the flow of the Reeb vector field, we transform a biharmonic integral submanifold into a biharmonic anti-invariant submanifold. Using this method we obtain new examples of biharmonic submanifolds in spheres and, in particular, in $\mathbb{S}^{7}$.
In this paper we provide a second variation formula for L-minimal Lagrangian submanifolds in a pseudo-Sasakian manifold. We apply it to the case of Lorentzian-Sasakian manifolds and relate the L-stability of L-minimal Legendrians in a Sasakian M to their L-stability in an associated Lorentzian-Sasakian structure on M.
The present paper deals with the study of invariant submanifolds of generalized Sasakian-space-forms with respect to Levi-Civita connection as well as semi-symmetric metric connection. We provide some examples of such submanifolds and obtain many new results including, the necessary and sufficient conditions under which the submanifolds are totally geodesic. The Ricci solitons of such submanifolds are also studied.
In this paper, we introduce and study a new class of CR-lightlike submanifold of an indefinite nearly Sasakian manifold, called Quasi Generalized Cauchy-Riemann (QGCR) lightlike submanifold. We give some characterization theorems for the existence of QGCR-lightlike submanifolds and finally derive necessary and sufficient conditions for some distributions to be integrable.
The present paper deals with some results of submanifolds of generalized Sasakian-space-forms in \cite{ALEGRE3} with respect to semisymmetric metric connection, semisymmetric non-metric connection, Schouten-van Kampen connection and Tanaka-webster connection.
A structure on an almost contact metric manifold is defined as a generalization of well-known cases: Sasakian, quasi-Sasakian, Kenmotsu and cosymplectic. Then we consider a semi-invariant $ξ^{\bot}$-submanifold of a manifold endowed with such a structure and two topics are studied: the integrability of distributions defined by this submanifold and characterizations for the totally umbilical case. In particular we recover results of Kenmotsu, Eum and Papaghiuc.
The present paper deals with the study of Chaki-pseudo parallel and Deszcz-pseudo parallel invariant submanifolds of SQ-Sasakian manifolds with respect to Levi-Civita connection and semisymmetric metric connection and obtain that these two classes are equivalent with a certain condition. Also the invariant and anti-invariant submanifolds of SQ-Sasakian manifolds with respect to Levi-Civita connection as well as semisymmetric metric connection whose metrics are Ricci solitons are studied.
We classify all proper-biharmonic Legendre curves in a Sasakian space form and point out some of their geometric properties. Then we provide a method for constructing anti-invariant proper-biharmonic submanifolds in Sasakian space forms. Finally, using the Boothby-Wang fibration, we determine all proper-biharmonic Hopf cylinders over homogeneous real hypersurfaces in complex projective spaces.
In this paper, we study warped product submanifolds of nearly trans-Sasakian manifolds. The non-existence of the warped product semi-slant submanifolds of the type $N_θ\times{_{f}N_T}$ is shown, whereas some characterization and new geometric obstructions are obtained for the warped products of the type $N_T\times{_{f}N_θ}$. We establish two general inequalities for the squared norm of the second fundamental form. The first inequality generalizes derived inequalities for some contact metric manifolds [16, 18, 19, 24], while by a new technique, the second inequality is constructed to express th…
We obtain a basic inequality involving the Laplacian of the warping function and the squared mean curvature of any warped product isometrically immersed in a Riemannian manifold without assuming any restriction on the Riemann curvature tensor of the ambient manifold. Applying this general theory, we obtain basic inequalities involving the Laplacian of the warping function and the squared mean curvature of $C$-totally real warped product submanifolds of $(κ,μ) $-space forms, Sasakian space forms and non-Sasakian $(κ,μ) $-manifolds. Then we obtain obstructions to the existence of minimal isometr…
First, we prove that indefinite Sasakian manifolds do not admit any screen conformal $r$-null submanifolds, tangent to the structure vector field. We, therefore, define a special class of null submanifolds, called; {\it contact screen conformal} $r$-null submanifold of indefinite Sasakian manifolds. Several characterization results, on the above class of null submanifolds, are proved. In particular, we prove that such null submanifolds exist in indefinite Sasakian space forms of constant holomorphic sectional curvatures of $-3$.
We characterize biharmonic anti-invariant surfaces in $3$-dimensional generalized $(κ, μ)$-manifolds with non-zero constant mean curvature by means of the scalar curvature of the ambient space and the mean curvature. In addition, we give a method for constructing infinity many examples of biharmonic submanifolds in a certain $3$-dimensional generalized $(κ, μ)$-manifold. Moreover, we determine $3$-dimensional generalized $(κ, μ)$-manifolds which admit a certain kind of proper biharmonic foliation.
In this paper, we prove that there are no proper $CRS$ bi-warped product submanifolds other than contact CR-biwarped products in Sasakian manifolds. On the other hand, we prove that if $M$ is a $CRS$ bi-warped product of the form $M=N_T \times_{f_1}N^{n_{1}}_\perp\times_{f_2} N^{n_{2}}_θ$ in a cosymplectic manifold $\widetilde M$, then its second fundamental form $h$ satisfies the inequality: $$\|h\|^2\geq 2n_1\|\nabla(\ln f_1)\|^2+2n_2(1+2\cot^2θ)\|\nabla(\ln f_2)\|^2,$$ where $N_T,\, N^{n_{1}}_\perp$ and $N^{n_{2}}_θ$ are invariant, anti-invariant and proper pointwise slant submanifolds of $…
The concept of quasi generalized CR-lightlike was first introduced by the authors in [18]. In this paper, we focus on ascreen and co-screen quasi generalized CR-lightlike submanifolds of indefinite nearly $μ$-Sasakian manifold. We prove an existence theorem for minimal ascreen quasi generalized CR-lightlike submanifolds admitting a metric connection. Classification theorems on nearly parallel and auto-parallel distributions on a co-screen quasi generalized CR-lightlike submanifold are also given. Several examples are also constructed, where necessary, to illustrate the main ideas.
Recently, B.-Y. Chen and O. J. Garay studied pointwise slant submanifolds of almost Hermitian manifolds. By using the notion of pointwise slant submanifolds, we investigate the geometry of pointwise semi-slant submanifolds and their warped products in Sasakian and cosymplectic manifolds. We prove that there exist no proper pointwise semi-slant warped product submanifold other than contact CR-warped products in Sasakian manifolds. We give non-trivial examples of such submanifolds in cosypmlectic manifolds and obtain several fundamental results, including a characterization for warped product po…
Using as an underlying manifold an alpha-Sasakian manifold we introduce warped product Kaehler manifolds. We prove that if the underlying manifold is an alpha-Sasakian space form, then the corresponding Kaehler manifold is of quasi-constant holomorphic sectional curvatures with special distribution. Conversely, we prove that any Kaehler manifold of quasi-constant holomorphic sectional curvatures with special distribution locally has the structure of a warped product Kaehler manifold whose base is an alpha-Sasakian space form. Considering the scalar distribution generated by the scalar curvatur…
We consider biharmonic submanifolds in both generalized complex and Sasakian space forms. After giving the biharmonicity conditions for submanifolds in these spaces, we study different particular cases for which we obtain curvature estimates. We consider curves, complex and Lagrangian surfaces and hypersurfaces for the generalized complex space form as well as hypersurfaces, invariant and anti-invariant submanifolds in case of generalized Sasakian space form.
Every compact 3-Sasakian 7-manifold $M$ admits a canonical 2-parameter family of co-closed $\text{G}_2$-structures $φ_{a,b}$ for $a,b > 0$, as well as a foliation by $φ_{a,b}$-associative 3-folds whose leaf space $X$ is a positive quaternion-Kähler 4-orbifold. We prove that associative 3-folds in $(M,φ_{a,b})$ that are ruled by a certain type of geodesic are in correspondence with pseudo-holomorphic curves in the almost-complex 8-manifold $Z \times S^2$, where $Z$ is the twistor space of $X$ equipped with its strict nearly-Kähler structure. As an application, we construct infinitely many topol…
In the present paper, we study warped product semi-slant submanifolds of Kenmotsu manifolds. We have obtained results on the existence of warped product semi-slant submanifolds of Kenmotsu manifolds in term of the canonical structure .
Recently Hui et al. (\cite{HAP}, \cite{HAN}) studied contact CR-warped product submanifolds and also warped product pseudo-slant submanifolds of a $(LCS)_n$-manifold $\bar{M}$. In this paper we have studied the characterization for both these classes of warped product submanifolds. It is also shown that there do not exists any proper warped product bi-slant submanifold of a $(LCS)_n$-manifold. Although we constructed an example of a bi-slant submanifold of $(LCS)_n$-manifold.
Warped product manifolds have been studied for a long period of time. In contrast, the study of warped product submanifolds from extrinsic point of view was initiated by the first author around the beginning of this century in [7, 8]. Since then the study of warped product submanifolds has been investigated by many geometers. The notion of slant submanifolds of almost Hermitian manifolds was introduced in [5]. Bi-slant submanifolds in almost contact metric manifolds were defined in [4] by J. L. Cabrerizo et al. In [26], we studied bi-slant submanifolds and warped product bi-slant submanifolds …
In this paper we study the warped product submanifolds of a Lorentzian paracosymplectic manifold and obtain some nonexistence results. We show that a warped product semi-invariant submanifold in the form {$M=M_{T}\times_{f}M_{\bot}$} of Lorentzian paracosymplectic manifold such that the characteristic vector field is normal to $M$ is an usual Riemannian product manifold where totally geodesic and totally umbilical submanifolds of warped product are invariant and anti-invariant, respectively. We prove that the distributions involved in the definition of a warped product semi-invariant submanifo…
We introduce sequential warped product submanifolds of Kaehler manifolds, provide examples and establish Chen's inequality for such submanifolds. The equality case is also studied. Moreover, by inspiring Lawson and Simons's integral currrent's theorem on a submanifold, we find a similar pinching inequality for a sequential warped product submanifold and obtain geometric results when the equality case is satisfied.
As a generalization of slant submanifolds and semi-slant submanifolds, we introduce the notions of pointwise slant submanifolds and pointwise semi-slant sunmanifolds of an almost contact metric manifold. We obtain a characterization at each notion, investigate the topological properties of pointwise slant submanifolds, and give some examples of them. We also consider some distributions on cosymplectic, Sasakian, Kenmotsu manifolds and deal with some properties of warped product pointwise semi-slant submanifolds. Finally, we give some inequalities for the squared norm of the second fundamental …
The warped product $N_1\times_f N_2$ of two Riemannian manifolds $(N_1,g_1)$ and $(N_2,g_2)$ is the product manifold $N_1\times N_2$ equipped with the warped product metric $g=g_1+f^2 g_2$, where $f$ is a positive function on $N_1$. Warped products play very important roles in differential geometry as well as in physics. A submanifold $M$ of a Kaehler manifold $\tilde M$ is called a $CR$-warped product if it is a warped product $M_T\times_f N_\perp$ of a complex submanifold $M_T$ and a totally real submanifold $M_\perp$ of $\tilde M$. In this article we survey recent results on warped product …
The present paper deals with the study of warped product pointwise bi-slant submanifolds of Kenmotsu manifolds with an example. The characterization for such submanifold is also discussed. An inequality of such submanifold is obtained and its equality case is also considered.
In this paper we present not only some properties related to bi-warped product submanifolds of locally conformal almost cosymplectic manifolds, but also we show how the squared norm of the second fundamental form and the bi-warped product's warping functions are related when the bi-warped product submanifold has a proper slant submanifold as a base or fiber.
Recently Y{ü}ksel et. al. \cite{SY} shows that there doesn't exist any proper semi-slant warped product submanifolds in a Lorentzian paracosymplectic manifold. In the present article, we first define and give preparatory lemmas for a new generalize class of semi-slant submanifolds called pointwise semi-slant submanifolds in a Lorentzian paracosymplectic manifold, and then we ensure by presenting some existence results and characterization theorem that there exist a non-trivial pointwise semi-slant warped product submanifolds in a Lorentzian paracosymplectic manifold counter to warped product s…
B.-Y. Chen initiated the study of warped product submanifolds in his fundamental seminal papers \cite{C1,C2,C2.1}. In this paper, we study contact CR-warped product submanifolds of cosymplectic space forms and prove an optimal inequality by using Gauss and Codazzi equations. In addition, we obtain two geometric inequalities for contact CR-warped product submanifolds with a compact invariant factor.
In this paper, we study some properties of warped product pointwise bi-slant submanifolds in locally metallic Riemannian manifolds and we construct some examples in Euclidean spaces.
We give estimates on the intrinsic and the extrinsic curvature of manifolds that are isometrically immersed as cylindrically bounded submanifolds of warped products. We also address extensions of the results in the case of submanifolds of the total space of a Riemannian submersion.
In this paper we establish a general inequality involving the Laplacian of the warping functions and the squared mean curvature of any doubly warped product isometrically immersed in a Riemannian manifold. Moreover, we obtain some geometric inequalities for C-totally real doubly warped product submanifolds of generalized $(κ,μ)$-space forms.
The purpose of this paper is to study $\mathcal{P}\mathcal{R}$-semi-invariant warped product submanifolds of a paracosymplectic manifold $\widetilde{M}$. We prove that the distributions associated with the definition of $\mathcal{P}\mathcal{R}$-semi-invariant warped product submanifold $M$ are always integrable. A necessary and sufficient condition for an isometrically immersed $\mathcal{P}\mathcal{R}$-semi-invariant submanifold of $\widetilde{M}$ to be a $\mathcal{P}\mathcal{R}$-semi-invariant warped product submanifold is obtained in terms of the shape operator.
In this study, we introduce indefinite sasakian statistical manifolds and lightlike hypersurfaces of an indefinite sasakian statistical manifold. Some relations among induced geometrical objects with respect to dual connections in a lightlike hypersurface of an indefinite sasakian manifold are obtained. Some examples related to these concepts are also presented. Finally, we prove that an invariant lightlike submanifold of indefinite sasakian statistical manifold is an indefinite sasakian statistical manifold.
We give lower bounds for the fundamental tone of open sets in minimal submanifolds immersed into warped product spaces of type $N^n \times_f Q^q$, where $f \in C^\infty(N)$. We also study the essential spectrum of these minimal submanifolds.
We introduce warped product skew semi-invariant submanifolds of order $1$ of a locally product Riemannian manifold. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for skew semi-invariant submanifold of order 1 to be a locally warped product. We also prove that the invariant distribution which is involved in the definition of the submanifold is integrable under some restrictions. Moreover, we find an inequality between the warping function and the squared norm of the second fundamental form for such submanifolds. Equality case is also discussed.
It is known that there exist no warped product semi-slant submanifolds in Kaehler manifolds \cite{Sahin}. Recently, Chen and Garay studied pointwise-slant submanifolds of almost Hermitian manifolds in \cite{CG} and obtained many new results for such submanifolds. In this paper, we first introduce pointwise semi-slant submanifolds of Kaehler manifolds and then we show that there exists non-trivial warped product pointwise semi-slant submanifolds of Kaehler manifold by giving an example, contrary to the semi-slant case. We present a characterization theorem and establish an inequality for the sq…
In this paper, we study $\mathcal{P}\mathcal{R}$-anti-slant warped product submanifold of a nearly paracosymplectic manifold $\widetilde{M}$. The necessary and sufficient condition is obtained for the distributions allied to the characterization of a $\mathcal{P}\mathcal{R}$-anti-slant submanifold being integrable and totally geodesic foliation. In addition, we have defined $\mathcal{P}\mathcal{R}$-anti-slant warped product submanifold of $\widetilde{M}$ and gave some illustrations. Finally, we extracted the constraints for a submanifold of $\widetilde{M}$ to be a $\mathcal{P}\mathcal{R}$-anti…
We introduce the notion of affine Legendrian submanifolds in Sasakian manifolds and define a canonical volume called the $ϕ$-volume as odd dimensional analogues of affine Lagrangian (totally real or purely real) geometry. Then we derive the second variation formula of the $ϕ$-volume to obtain the stability result in some $η$-Einstein Sasakian manifolds. It also implies the convexity of the $ϕ$-volume functional on the space of affine Legendrian submanifolds. Next, we introduce the notion of special affine Legendrian submanifolds in Sasaki-Einstein manifolds as a generalization of that of speci…
In the present paper, we discuss the non-trivial warped product pseudo slant submanifolds of type $M_{\bot }\times _{f}M_{θ}$ and $M_θ\times _{f}M_{\bot }$ of nearly Kenmotsu $f$-manifold $\overline{M}$. Firstly, we get some basic properties of these type warped product submanifolds. Then, we establish the general sharp inequalities for squared norm of second fundamental form for mixed totally geodesic warped product pseudo slant submanifolds of both cases, in terms of the warping function and the slant angle. Also the equality cases are verified. We show that some previous results are trivial…
Recently, Naghi et al. \cite{NAGHI} studied warped product skew CR-submanifold of the form $M_1\times_fM_\bot$ of order $1$ of a Kenmotsu manifold $\bar{M}$ such that $M_1=M_T\times M_θ$, where $M_T$, $M_\bot$ and $M_θ$ are invariant, anti-invariant and proper slant submanifolds of $\bar{M}$. The present paper deals with the study of warped product submanifolds by interchanging the two factors $M_T$ and $M_\bot$, i.e, the warped products of the form $M_2\times_fM_T$ such that $M_2=M_\bot\times M_θ$. The existence of such warped product is ensured by an example and then we characterize such war…
Non-existence of warped product semi-slant submanifolds of Kaehler manifolds was proved in [17], it is interesting to find their existence. In this paper, we prove the existence of warped product semi-slant submanifolds of nearly Kaehler manifolds by a characterization. To this end we obtain an inequality for the squared norm of second fundamental form in terms of the warping function and the slant angle. The equality case is also discussed.
The notion of warped product manifolds is one of the most fruitful generalizations of Riemannian products. Such notion plays very important roles in differential geometry as well as in physics, especially in general relativity. Warped product manifolds have been studied for a long period of time. In contrast, the study of warped product submanifolds was only initia…
The purpose of this paper is to study pointwise pseudo-slant warped product submanifolds of a Kähler manifold $\widetilde{M}$. We derive the conditions of integrability and totally geodesic foliation for the distributions allied to the characterization of a pointwise pseudo-slant submanifold of $\widetilde{M}$. The necessary and sufficient conditions for isometrically immersed pointwise pseudo-slant submanfold of $\widetilde{M}$ to be a pointwise pseudo-slant warped product and a locally Riemannian product are obtained.
This paper has two goals; the first is to generalize results for the existence and nonexistence of warped product submanifolds of almost contact manifolds, accordingly a self-contained reference of such submanifolds is offered to save efforts of potential research. Most of the results of this paper are general and decisive enough to generalize both discovered and not discovered results. Moreover, a discrete example of contact CR-warped product submanifold in Kenmotsu manifold is constructed. For further research direction, we addressed a couple of open problems arose from the results of this p…
