Using as an underlying manifold an alpha-Sasakian manifold we introduce warped product Kaehler manifolds. We prove that if the underlying manifold is an alpha-Sasakian space form, then the corresponding Kaehler manifold is of quasi-constant holomorphic sectional curvatures with special distribution. Conversely, we prove that any Kaehler manifold of quasi-constant holomorphic sectional curvatures with special distribution locally has the structure of a warped product Kaehler manifold whose base is an alpha-Sasakian space form. Considering the scalar distribution generated by the scalar curvature of a Kaehler manifold, we give a new approach to the local theory of Bochner-Kaehler manifolds. We study the class of Bochner-Kaehler manifolds whose scalar distribution is of special type. Taking into account that any manifold of this class locally is a warped product Kaehler manifold, we describe all warped product Bochner-Kaehler metrics. We find four families of complete metrics of this type.
We apply the results from the article Cahen, Schwachhöfer: Special symplectic connections, to the case of Bochner-Kaehler metrics. We obtain a (local) classification of these based on the orbit types of the adjoint action in $su(n,1)$. The relation between Sasaki and Bochner-Kaehler metrics in cone and transveral metrics constructions is discussed. The connection of the special symplectic and Weyl connections is outlined. The duality between the Ricci-type and Bochner-Kaehler metrics is shown.
B. Y. Chen established sharp inequalities between certain Riemannian invariants and the squared mean curvature for submanifolds in real space form as well as in complex space form. In this paper we generalize Chen inequalities for submanifolds of Bochner Kaehler manifolds. Moreover, we consider CR-warped product submanifolds of Bochner Kaehler manifold and establish an inequality for scalar curvature.
We obtain a classification theorem for non Kaehler nearly Kaehler manifolds with vanishing Bochner curvature tensor (introduced by Tricerri and Vanhecke).
In this paper, we study the geometry of pointwise semi-slant warped products in a locally conformal Kaehler manifold. In particular, we obtain several results which extend Chen's inequality for CR-warped product submanifolds in Kaehler manifolds. Also, we study the corresponding equality cases. Several related results on pointwise semi-slant warped products are also proved in this paper.
Non-existence of warped product semi-slant submanifolds of Kaehler manifolds was proved in [17], it is interesting to find their existence. In this paper, we prove the existence of warped product semi-slant submanifolds of nearly Kaehler manifolds by a characterization. To this end we obtain an inequality for the squared norm of second fundamental form in terms of the warping function and the slant angle. The equality case is also discussed.
The warped product $N_1\times_f N_2$ of two Riemannian manifolds $(N_1,g_1)$ and $(N_2,g_2)$ is the product manifold $N_1\times N_2$ equipped with the warped product metric $g=g_1+f^2 g_2$, where $f$ is a positive function on $N_1$. Warped products play very important roles in differential geometry as well as in physics. A submanifold $M$ of a Kaehler manifold $\tilde M$ is called a $CR$-warped product if it is a warped product $M_T\times_f N_\perp$ of a complex submanifold $M_T$ and a totally real submanifold $M_\perp$ of $\tilde M$. In this article we survey recent results on warped product …
It is known that there exist no warped product semi-slant submanifolds in Kaehler manifolds \cite{Sahin}. Recently, Chen and Garay studied pointwise-slant submanifolds of almost Hermitian manifolds in \cite{CG} and obtained many new results for such submanifolds. In this paper, we first introduce pointwise semi-slant submanifolds of Kaehler manifolds and then we show that there exists non-trivial warped product pointwise semi-slant submanifolds of Kaehler manifold by giving an example, contrary to the semi-slant case. We present a characterization theorem and establish an inequality for the sq…
Warped product manifolds have been studied for a long period of time. In contrast, the study of warped product submanifolds from extrinsic point of view was initiated by the first author around the beginning of this century in [7, 8]. Since then the study of warped product submanifolds has been investigated by many geometers. The notion of slant submanifolds of almost Hermitian manifolds was introduced in [5]. Bi-slant submanifolds in almost contact metric manifolds were defined in [4] by J. L. Cabrerizo et al. In [26], we studied bi-slant submanifolds and warped product bi-slant submanifolds …
n this paper, we obtain a geometric inequality between the length of the second fundamental form and the length of Lee form in terms of the warping function for a CR-warped product submanifold in a locally conformal Kaehler space form. The equality case is also investigated. Furthermore, the inequality is discussed for the important subclass of locally conformal Kaehler manifolds i.e., Vaisman manifold.
In this paper, we initiate the study of $\p R$-warped products in para-Kähler manifolds and prove some fundamental results on such submanifolds. In particular, we establish a general optimal inequality for $\p R$-warped products in para-Kähler manifolds involving only the warping function and the second fundamental form. Moreover, we completely classify $\p R$-warped products in the flat para-Kähler manifold with least codimension which satisfy the equality case of the inequality.
We study bi-warped product submanifolds of nearly Kaehler manifolds which are the natural extension of warped products. We prove that every bi-warped product submanifold of the form $M=M_T\times_{f_1}\! M_\perp\times_{f_2}\! M_θ$ in a nearly Kaehler manifold satisfies the following sharp inequality: $$\|h\|^2\geq 2p\|\nabla (\ln f_1)\|^2+4q\left(1+{\small \frac{10}{9}}\cot^2θ\right)\|\nabla(\ln f_2)\|^2,$$ where $p=\dim M_\perp$, $q=\frac{1}{2}\dim M_θ$, and $f_1,\,f_2$ are smooth positive functions on $M_T$. We also investigate the equality case of this inequality. Further, some applications …
The following result is proved: Consider a 4-dimensional Kaehler manifold M with nonvanishing Bochner tensor B. Then any holomorphic transformation of M, which preserves B is a homothety.
We prove that any Kaehler manifold admitting a flat complex conformal connection is a Bochner-Kaehler manifold with special scalar distribution and zero geometric constants. Applying the local structural theorem for such manifolds we obtain a complete description of the Kaehler manifolds under consideration.
It is proved that if an almost Hermitian manifold of dimension greater than 4 has vanishing (classical) Bochner curvature tensor and is not Kaehlerian at a point, then it is flat in a neighbourhood of this point.
We study curvature properties of four-dimensional almost Hermitian manifolds with vanishing Bochner curvature tensor as defined by Tricerri and Vanhecke. We give local structure theorems for such Kaehler manifolds, and find out several examples related to the theorems.
Warped product CR-submanifolds in Kaehlerian manifolds were intensively studied only since 2001 after the impulse given by B.Y. Chen. Immediately after, another line of research, similar to that concerning Sasakian geometry as the odd dimensional version of Kaehlerian geometry, was developed, namely warped product contact CR-submanifolds in Sasakian manifolds. In this note we proved that there exists no proper doubly warped product contact CR-submanifolds in trans-Sasakian manifolds.
We prove that under certain conditions on the mean curvature and on the Kaehler angles, a compact submanifold M of real dimension 2n, immersed into a Kaehler-Einstein manifold N of complex dimension 2n, must be either a complex or a Lagrangian submanifold of N, or have constant Kaehler angle, depending on n=1, n=2, or n \geq 3, and the sign of the scalar curvature of N. These results generalize to non-minimal submanifolds some known results for minimal submanifolds. Our main tool is a Bochner-type technique involving a formula on the Laplacian of a symmetric function on the Kaehler angles and …
We prove that every Kaehler metric, whose potential is a function of the time-like distance in the flat Kaehler-Lorentz space, is of quasi-constant holomorphic sectional curvatures, satisfying certain conditions. This gives a local classification of the Kaehler manifolds with the above mentioned metrics. New examples of Sasakian space forms are obtained as real hypersurfaces of a Kaehler space form with special invariant distribution. We introduce three types of even dimensional rotational hypersurfaces in flat spaces and endow them with locally conformal Kaehler structures. We prove that thes…
We introduce the notion of a hamiltonian 2-form on a Kaehler manifold and obtain a complete local classification. This notion appears to play a pivotal role in several aspects of Kaehler geometry. In particular, on any Kaehler manifold with co-closed Bochner tensor, the (suitably normalized) Ricci form is hamiltonian, and this leads to an explicit description of these Kaehler metrics, which we call weakly Bochner-flat. Hamiltonian 2-forms draw attention to a general construction of Kaehler metrics which interpolates between toric geometry and Calabi-like constructions of metrics on (projective…
Recently, we have shown that there do not exist the warped product semi-slant submanifolds of cosymplectic manifolds [10]. As nearly cosymplectic structure generalizes cosymplectic ones same as nearly Kaehler generalizes Kaehler structure in almost Hermitian setting. It is interesting that the warped product semi-slant submanifolds exist in nearly cosymplectic case while in case of cosymplectic do not exist. In the beginning, we prove some preparatory results and finally we obtain an inequality such as $\|h\|^2 \geq 4q\csc^2θ\{1+\frac{1}{9}\cos^2θ\}\|\nabla \ln f\|^2$ in terms of intrinsic and…
A formal treatment of Killing 1-form and 2-Killing 1-form on Riemannian Poisson manifold, Riemannian Poisson warped product space are presented. In this way, we obtain Bochner type result on compact Riemannian Poisson manifold, compact Riemannian Poisson warped product space for Killing 1-form and 2-Killing 1-form. Finally, we give the characterization of a 2-Killing 1-form on $(\mathbb{R}^2,g,Π)$.
In this paper, we study the existence of various harmonic maps from Hermitian manifolds to Kaehler, Hermitian and Riemannian manifolds respectively. By using refined Bochner formulas on Hermitian (possibly non-Kaehler) manifolds, we derive new rigidity results on Hermitian harmonic maps from compact Hermitian manifolds to Riemannian manifolds, and we also obtain the complex analyticity of pluri-harmonic maps from compact complex manifolds to compact Kaehler manifolds (and Riemannian manifolds) with non-degenerate curvatures, which are analogous to several fundamental results in [28,Siu], [14,J…
In this study, we show that there is an $α$-Sasakian structure on product manifold $M_{1}\times β(I)$ where $M_{1}$ is a Kaehlerian manifold that has exact 1-form and $β(I)$ is an open curve. After then, we define a new type warped product metric to study the warped product of almost Hermitian manifolds with almost contact metric manifolds.
We introduce sequential warped product submanifolds of Kaehler manifolds, provide examples and establish Chen's inequality for such submanifolds. The equality case is also studied. Moreover, by inspiring Lawson and Simons's integral currrent's theorem on a submanifold, we find a similar pinching inequality for a sequential warped product submanifold and obtain geometric results when the equality case is satisfied.
We present a classification of compact Kaehler manifolds admitting a hamiltonian 2-form (which were classified locally in part I of this work). This involves two components of independent interest. The first is the notion of a rigid hamiltonian torus action. This natural condition, for torus actions on a Kaehler manifold, was introduced locally in part I, but such actions turn out to be remarkably well behaved globally, leading to a fairly explicit classification: up to a blow-up, compact Kaehler manifolds with a rigid hamiltonian torus action are bundles of toric Kaehler manifolds. The second…
