This paper presents a nonlinear dynamical model which consists the system of differential and operator equations. Here differential equation contains a nonlinear operator acting in Banach space, a nonlinear operator equation with respect to two elements from different Banach spaces. This system is assumed to enjoy the stationary state (rest points or equilibrium). The Cauchy problem with the initial condition with respect to one of the desired functions is formulated. The second function controls the corresponding nonlinear dynamic process, the initial conditions are not set. The sufficient conditions of the global classical solution's existence and stabilization at infinity to the rest point are formulated. It is demonstrated that a solution can be constructed by the method of successive approximations under the suitable sufficient conditions. If the conditions of the main theorem are not satisfied, then several solutions may exist. Some of solutions can blow-up in a finite time, while others stabilize to a rest point. The special case of considered dynamical models are nonlinear differential-algebraic equation (DAE) have successfully modeled various phenomena in circuit analysis, power systems, chemical process simulations and many other nonlinear processes. Three examples illustrate the constructed theory and the main theorem. Generalization on the non-autonomous dynamical systems concludes the article.
We study the discrete dynamical system defined on a subset of $R^2$ given by the iterates of the secant method applied to a real polynomial $p$. Each simple real root $α$ of $p$ has associated its basin of attraction $\mathcal A(α)$ formed by the set of points converging towards the fixed point $(α,α)$ of $S$. We denote by $\mathcal A^*(α)$ its immediate basin of attraction, that is, the connected component of $\mathcal A(α)$ which contains $(α,α)$. We focus on some topological properties of $\mathcal A^*(α)$, when $α$ is an internal real root of $p$. More precisely, we show the existence of a…
Abstract basins appear naturally in different areas of several complex variables. In this survey we want to describe three different topics in which they play an important role, leading to interesting open problems.
This paper compares two learning processes, namely those generated by replicator and best-response dynamics, from the point of view of the asymptotics of play. We base our study on the intersection of the basins of attraction of locally stable pure Nash equilibria for replicator and best-response dynamics. Local stability implies that the basin of attraction has positive measure but there are examples where the intersection of the basin of attraction for replicator and best-response dynamics is arbitrarily small. We provide conditions, involving the existence of an unstable interior Nash equil…
In the paper "Infinite Product Represenations for Kernels and Iterations of Functions", a technique was developed which allows for the construction of a reproducing kernel Hilbert space on basins of attraction containing $0$. When the right conditions are met, an explicit orthonormal basis can be constructed using a particular class of operators. It is natural then to consider how the orthonormal basis changes as we let the basin of attraction vary. We will consider this question for the basins of attraction containing $0$ of the family of polynomials $\mathcal{F} = \{az^{2^{n+2}}-2az^{2^{n+1}…
The present paper investigates the binary system of quasars in the framework of the Circular Restricted Three-Body Problem. The parametric evolution of libration points, the geometry of zero-velocity curves are one of the crucial aspects of our study. The multivariate form of NR method is applied to study the basin of attraction connected with libration points. The algorithm for using the Newton-Raphson method is slightly modified in order to avoid the unnecessary delay in the convergence of initial conditions. The impact of parameters on the shape of the basin of attraction and the number of …
We generalize the concept of basin of attraction of a stable state in order to facilitate the analysis of dynamical systems with noise and to assess stability properties of metastable states and long transients. To this end we examine the notions of mean sojourn times and absorption probabilities for Markov chains and study their relation to the basins of attraction. Our approach is applicable to a large variety of problems since in most cases the transfer operator associated to a dynamical system can be approximated by a Markov chain.
The basin of attraction is the set of initial points that will eventually converge to some attracting set. Its knowledge is important in understanding the dynamical behavior of a given dynamical system of interest. In this work, we address the problem of reconstructing the basins of attraction of a multistable system, using only labeled data. To this end, we view this problem as a classification task and use a deep neural network as a classifier for predicting the attractor that corresponds to any given initial condition. Additionally, we provide a method for obtaining an approximation of the …
The aim of this article is to enlarge the list of examples of non-autonomous basins of attraction from our previous paper and at the same time explore some other properties that they satisfy. For instance, we show the existence of countably many disjoint Short $\mathbb{C}^k$'s in $\mathbb{C}^k.$ We also construct a Short $\mathbb{C}^k$ which is not Runge and exhibit yet another example whose boundary has Hausdorff dimension $2k.$
The present work deals with the recently introduced restricted six body-problem with square configuration. It is determined that the total number of libration points are twelve and twenty for the mass parameter $0< μ< 0.25$. The multivariate form of Newton-Raphson scheme is used to discuss the basin of attraction. Different aspects of the basin of attraction are investigated and explained in detail. The complex combination of the different basins is found along the boundaries. The concept of basin entropy is used to unveil the nature of the boundaries. For $μ= 0.22$ and $0.23$, the basin of at…
The purpose of this work is to give a first approach to the dynamical behavior of Schröder's method, a well known iterative process for solving nonlinear equations. In this context we consider equations defined in the complex plane. By using topological conjugations, we characterize the basins of attraction of Schröder's method applied to polynomials with two roots and different multiplicities. Actually, we show that these basins are half-planes or circles, depending on the multiplicities of the roots. We finish our study with a graphical gallery that allow us to compare the basins of attracti…
Passive dynamic walking is a useful model for investigating the mechanical functions of the body that produce energy-efficient walking. The basin of attraction is very small and thin, and it has a fractal-like shape; this explains the difficulty in producing stable passive dynamic walking. The underlying mechanism that produces these geometric characteristics was not known. In this paper, we consider this from the viewpoint of dynamical systems theory, and we use the simplest walking model to clarify the mechanism that forms the basin of attraction for passive dynamic walking. We show that the…
The purpose of this paper is to present several examples of non--autonomous basins of attraction that arise from sequences of automorphisms of $\mathbb C^k$. In the first part, we prove that the non-autonomous basin of attraction arising from a pair of automorphisms of $\mathbb C^2$ of a prescribed form is biholomorphic to $\mathbb C^2$. This, in particular, provides a partial answer to a question raised in connection with Bedford's Conjecture about uniformizing stable manifolds. In the second part, we describe three examples of Short $\mathbb C^k$'s with specified properties. First, we show t…
We analyse a modified May-Holling-Tanner predator-prey model considering an Allee effect in the prey and alternative food sources for predator. Additionally, the predation functional response or predation consumption rate is linear. The extended model exhibits rich dynamics and we prove the existence of separatrices in the phase plane separating basins of attraction related to oscillation, co-existence and extinction of the predator-prey population. We also show the existence of a homoclinic curve that degenerates to form a limit cycle and discuss numerous potential bifurcations such as saddle…

Motivated by the goal of having a building block in the direct design of data-driven controllers for nonlinear systems, we show how, for an unknown discrete-time bilinear system, the data collected in an offline open-loop experiment enable us to design a feedback controller and provide a guaranteed under-approximation of its basin of attraction. Both can be obtained by solving a linear matrix inequality for a fixed scalar parameter, and possibly iterating on different values of that parameter. The results of this data-based approach are compared with the ideal case when the model is known perf…
We present a fully automated method that identifies attractors and their basins of attraction without approximations of the dynamics. The method works by defining a finite state machine on top of the system flow. The input to the method is a dynamical system evolution rule and a grid that partitions the state space. No prior knowledge of the number, location, or nature of the attractors is required. The method works for arbitrarily-high-dimensional dynamical systems, both discrete and continuous. It also works for stroboscopic maps, Poincaré maps, and projections of high-dimensional dynamics t…
In this paper, a two parameters family $F_{β_1,β_2}$ of maps of the plane living two different subspaces invariant is studied. We observe that, our model exhibits two chaotic attractors $A_i$, $i=0,1$, lying in these invariant subspaces and identify the parameters at which $A_i$ has a locally riddled basin of attraction or becomes a chaotic saddle. Then, the occurrence of riddled basin in the global sense is investigated in an open region of $β_1β_2$-plane. We semi-conjugate our system to a random walk model and define a fractal boundary which separates the basins of attraction of the two chao…
The attractors of Boolean networks and their basins have been shown to be highly relevant for model validation and predictive modelling, e.g., in systems biology. Yet there are currently very few tools available that are able to compute and visualise not only attractors but also their basins. In the realm of asynchronous, non-deterministic modeling not only is the repertoire of software even more limited, but also the formal notions for basins of attraction are often lacking. In this setting, the difficulty both for theory and computation arises from the fact that states may be ele- ments of s…
In this paper we investigate some properties of equilibrium points in n-dimensional linear control systems with saturated state feedback. We provide an index formula for equilibrium points and discuss its relation to boundaries of attraction basins in feedback systems with single input. In addition, we also touch upon convexity of attraction basin.
The fast basin of an attractor of an iterated function system (IFS) is the set of points in the domain of the IFS whose orbits under the associated semigroup intersect the attractor. Fast basins can have non-integer dimension and comprise a class of deterministic fractal sets. The relationship between the basin and the fast basin of a point-fibred attractor is analyzed. To better understand the topology and geometry of fast basins, and because of analogies with analytic continuation, branched fractal manifolds are introduced. A branched fractal manifold is a metric space constructed from the e…
We analyze the effect of weak-noise-induced transitions on the dynamics of the FitzHugh-Nagumo neuron model in a bistable state consisting of a stable fixed point and a stable unforced limit cycle. Bifurcation and slow-fast analysis give conditions on the parameter space for the establishment of this bi-stability. In the parametric zone of bi-stability, weak-noise amplitudes may strongly inhibit the neuron's spiking activity. Surprisingly, increasing the noise strength leads to a minimum in the spiking activity, after which the activity starts to increase monotonically with increase in noise s…

Short $\mathbb{C}^2$'s were constructed in [F] as attracting basins of a sequence of holomorphic automorphisms whose rate of attraction increases superexponentially. The goal of this paper is to show that such domains also arise naturally as autonomous attracting basins: we construct a transcendental Hénon map with an oscillating wandering Fatou component that is a Short $\mathbb{C}^2$. The superexponential rate of attraction is not obtained at single iterations, but along consecutive oscillations.
Forward invariance of a basin of attraction is often overlooked when using a Lyapunov stability theorem to prove local stability; even if the Lyapunov function decreases monotonically in a neighborhood of an equilibrium, the dynamic may escape from this neighborhood. In this note, we fix this gap by finding a smaller neighborhood that is forward invariant. This helps us to prove local stability more naturally without tracking each solution path. Similarly, we prove a transitivity theorem about basins of attractions without requiring forward invariance. Keywords: Lyapunov function, local stabil…
