The seminal work \cite{bm} by Brezis and Merle has been pioneering in studying the bubbling phenomena of the mean field equation with singular sources. When the vortex points are not collapsing, the mean field equation possesses the property of the so-called "bubbling implies mass concentration". Recently, Lin and Tarantello in \cite{lt} pointed out that the "bubbling implies mass concentration" phenomena might not hold in general if the collapse of singularities occurs. In this paper, we shall construct the first concrete example of non-concentrated bubbling solution of the mean field equation with collapsing singularities.
The seminal work \cite{bm} by Brezis and Merle showed that the bubbling solutions of the mean field equation have the property of mass concentration. Recently, Lin and Tarantello in \cite{lt} found that the "bubbling implies mass concentration" phenomena might not hold if there is a collapse of singularities. Furthermore, a sharp estimate \cite{llty} for the bubbling solutions has been obtained. In this paper, we prove that there exists at most one sequence of bubbling solutions if the collapsing singularity occurs. The main difficulty comes from that after re-scaling, the difference of two so…
Here we initiate the program for computing the Leray-Schauder topological degree for $SU(3)$ Toda system. This program still contains a lot of challenging problems for analysts. The first step of our approach is to answer whether concentration phenomena holds or not. In this paper, we prove the concentration phenomena holds while $ρ_1$ crosses $4π$, and $ρ_2\notin 4π\mathbb{N}$. However, for $ρ_1\geq 8π$, the question whether concentration holds or not still remains open up to now. The second step is to study the corresponding shadow system and its degree counting formula. The last step is to …
We revisit the following nonlinear critical elliptic equation \begin{equation*} -Δu+Q(y)u=u^{\frac{N+2}{N-2}},\;\;\; u>0\;\;\;\hbox{ in } \mathbb{R}^N, \end{equation*} where $N\geq 5.$ There seems to be no results about the periodicity of bubbling solutions. Here we try to investigate some related problems. Assuming that $Q(y)$ is periodic in $y_1$ with period 1 and has a local minimum at 0 satisfying $Q(0)=0,$ we prove the existence and local uniqueness of infinitely many bubbling solutions of the problem above. This local uniqueness result implies that some bubbling solutions preserve the sy…
\begin{abstract} We consider the following poly-harmonic equations with critical exponents: \begin{equation}\label{P} (-Δ)^m u =K(y)u^{\frac{N+2m}{N-2m}},\;\;\; u>0\;\;\;\hbox{in} \mathbb{R}^N, \end{equation} where $N> 2m+2,m\in\mathbb{N}_{+}, K(y)$ is positive and periodic in its first $k$ variables $(y_1,\cdots, y_k)$, $1\leq k<\frac{N-2m}{2}$. Under some conditions on $K(y)$ near its critical point, we prove not only that problem~\eqref{P} admits solutions with infinitely many bubbles, but also that the bubbling solutions obtained in our existence result are locally unique. This local uniqu…
In this paper, we continue to consider the 2-dimensional (open) Toda system (Toda lattice) for $SU(N+1)$. We give a much more precise bubbling behavior of solutions and study its existence in some critical cases
In this work we study the existence of nodal solutions for the problem $$ -Δu = λu e^{u^2+|u|^p} \text{ in }Ω, \; u = 0 \text{ on }\partial Ω, $$ where $Ω\subseteq \mathbb R^2$ is a bounded smooth domain and $p\to 1^+$. If $Ω$ is ball, it is known that the case $p=1$ defines a critical threshold between the existence and the non-existence of radially symmetric sign-changing solutions. In this work we construct a blowing-up family of nodal solutions to such problem as $p\to 1^+$, when $Ω$ is an arbitrary domain and $λ$ is small enough. As far as we know, this is the first construction of sign-c…
We consider wave maps from $\mathbb R^{2+1}$ to a $C^\infty$-smooth Riemannian manifold, $\mathcal N$. Such maps can exhibit energy concentration, and at points of concentration, it is known that the map (suitably rescaled and translated) converges weakly to a harmonic map, known as a bubble. We give an example of a wave map which exhibits a type of non-uniqueness of bubbling. In particular, we exhibit a continuum of different bubbles at the origin, each of which arise as the weak limit along a different sequence of times approaching the blow-up time. This is the first known example of non-uni…
In the spirit of the paper "Large conformal metrics of prescribed Gauss curvature on surfaces of higher genus" by Borer-Galimberti-Struwe, where we dealt with the case of a closed Riemann surface $(M,g_0)$ of genus greater than one, here we study the behaviour of the conformal metrics $g_λ$ of prescribed Gauss curvature $K_{g_λ} = f_0 + λ$ on the torus, when the parameter $λ$ tends to one of the boundary points of the interval of existence of $g_λ$, and we characterize their "bubbling behaviour".
This paper deals with the following critical elliptic systems of Hamiltonian type, which are variants of the critical Lane-Emden systems and analogous to the prescribed curvature problem: \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} -Δu_1=K_1(y)u_2^{p},\ y\in \mathbb{R}^N,\\ -Δu_2=K_2(y)u_1^{q}, \ y\in \mathbb{R}^N,\\ u_1,u_2>0, \end{cases} \end{equation*} where $N\geq 5, p,q\in(1,\infty)$ with $\frac1{p+1}+\frac1{q+1}=\frac{N-2}N$, $K_1(y)$ and $K_2(y)$ are positive radial potentials. At first, under suitable conditions on $K_1,K_2$ and the certain range of the exponents $p,q$, we construct an unbounded s…
For an asymmetric sinh-Poisson problem arising as a mean field equation of equilibrium turbulence vortices with variable intensities of interest in hydrodynamic turbulence, we address the existence of bubbling solutions on compact Riemann surfaces. By using a Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction, we find sufficient conditions under which there exist bubbling solutions blowing up at $m$ different points of $S$: positively at $m_1$ points and negatively at $m-m_1$ points with $m\ge 1$ and $m_1\in\{0,1,...,m\}$. Several examples in different situations illustrate our results in the sphere $\mathbb S^2$ and…
Let $Ω$ be a flat torus and $G$ be the green's function of $-Δ$ on $Ω$. One intriguing mystery of $G$ is how the number of its critical points is related to blowup solutions of certain PDEs. In this article we prove that for the following equation that describes a Chern-Simons model in Gauge theory: \begin{equation}\label{e103} \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} Δu_1+\frac{1}{\varepsilon^2}e^{u_2}(1-e^{u_1})=8πδ_{p_{1}} Δu_2+\frac{1}{\varepsilon^2}e^{u_1}(1-e^{u_2})=8πδ_{p_{2}} \end{array} \text{ in }\quad Ω\right., \quad p_1-p_2 \mbox{ is a half period}, \end{equation} if fully bubbling solutions of L…
The pioneering work of Brezis-Merle [7], Li-Shafrir [27], Li [26] and Bartolucci-Tarantello [4] showed that any sequence of blow up solutions for (singular) mean field equations of Liouville type must exhibit a "mass concentration" property. A typical situation of blow-up occurs when we let the singular (vortex) points involved in the equation (see (1.1) below) collapse together. However in this case Lin-Tarantello in [30] pointed out that the phenomenon: "bubbling implies mass concentration" might not occur and new scenarios open for investigation. In this paper, we present two explicit examp…
In several fields of Physics, Chemistry and Ecology, some models are described by Liouville systems. In this article we first prove a uniqueness result for a Liouville system in $\mathbb R^2$. Then we establish an uniform estimate for bubbling solutions of a locally defined Liouville system near an isolated blowup point. The uniqueness result, as well as the local uniform estimates are crucial ingredients for obtaining a priori estimate, degree counting formulas and existence results for Liouville systems defined on Riemann surfaces.
We consider the equation $d^2Δu - u+ u^{\frac{n-k+2}{n-k-2}} =0\,\hbox{in}Ω$, under zero Neumann boundary conditions, where $Ω$ is open, smooth and bounded and $d$ is a small positive parameter. We assume that there is a $k$-dimensional closed, embedded minimal submanifold $K$ of $\partialΩ$, which is non-degenerate, and certain weighted average of sectional curvatures of $\partialΩ$ is positive along $K$. Then we prove the existence of a sequence $d=d_j\to 0$ and a positive solution $u_d$ such that $$ d^2 |\nabla u_{d} |^2 \rightharpoonup S, δ_K \ass d \to 0 $$ in the sense of measures, where…
This work is devoted to the analysis of the Yamabe problem on Spin manifolds and some applications to CMC immersions. Despite the efforts of many authors, very little is known on the existence of Yamabe metrics on general Spin manifolds. Motivated to bubbling phenomena for the Riemannian problem and recent multiplicity results in this setting, we investigate special spinorial Yamabe metrics on product manifolds developing a bubbling analysis which has independent interest in the present setting.
In the past few decades, much attention has been paid to the bubbling problem for semilinear Neumann elliptic equation with the critical and subcritical polynomial nonlinearity, much less is known if the polynomial nonlinearity is replaced by the exponential nonlinearity. In this paper, we consider the following semilinear Neumann elliptic problem with the Trudinger-Moser exponential growth: \begin{equation*}\begin{cases} -dΔu_d+u_d=u_d(e^{u^2_{d}}-1)\ \ \mbox{in}\ Ω,\\ \frac{\partial u_d}{\partialν}=0\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \mbox{on}\ \partial Ω,\\ \end{cases}\end{equa…
Let $Ω$ be a smooth bounded domain in $\R^n$, $n\ge 5$. We consider the semilinear heat equation at the critical Sobolev exponent $$ u_t = Δu + u^{\frac{n+2}{n-2}} \inn Ω\times (0,\infty), \quad u =0 \onn \ppΩ\times (0,\infty). $$ Let $G(x,y)$ be the Dirichlet Green's function of $-Δ$ in $Ω$ and $H(x,y)$ its regular part. Let $q_j\in Ω$, $j=1,\ldots,k$, be points such that the matrix $$ \left [ \begin{matrix} H(q_1, q_1) & -G(q_1,q_2) &\cdots & -G(q_1, q_k) -G(q_1,q_2) & H(q_2,q_2) & -G(q_2,q_3) \cdots & -G(q_3,q_k) \vdots & & \ddots& \vdots -G(q_1,q_k) &\cdots& -G(q_{k-1}, q_k) & H(q_k,q_k) \…
The goal of this paper is to discuss some of the results in [31] and [32] and expand upon the work there by proving a global weak existence result as well as a first bubbling analysis in finite time. In addition, an alternative local existence proof is presented based on a fixed-point argument. This leads to two possible outlooks until a conjecture by Sire, Wei and Zheng is settled, see [27]: Either there always exists a global smooth solution (thus the solution constructed here is actually as regular as desired) or finite-time bubbling may occur in a similar way as for the harmonic gradient f…
Analog to the classical result of Kazdan-Warner for the existence of solutions to the prescribed Gaussian curvature equation on compact 2-manifolds without boundary, it is widely known that if $(M,g_0)$ is a closed 4-manifold with zero $Q$-curvature and if $f$ is any non-constant, smooth, sign-changing function with $\int_M f dμ_{{\it g}_0} <0$, then there exists at least one solution $u$ to the prescribed $Q$-curvature equation \[ \mathbf{P}_{g_0} u = f e^{4u}, \] where $\mathbf{P}_{g_0}$ is the Paneitz operator which is positive with kernel consisting of constant functions. In this paper, we…
On $(M,g)$ a compact riemannian $4-$manifold we consider the prescribed $Q-$curvature equation defined on $M$ with finite singular sources. We first prove a classification theorem for singular Liouville equations defined on $\mathbb R^4$ and perform a concentration compactness analysis. Then we derive a quantization result for bubbling solutions and establish a priori estimate under the assumption that certain conformal invariant does not take some quantized values. Furthermore we prove a spherical Harnack inequality around singular sources provided their strength is not an integer. Such an in…
In this paper, we study the existence and concentration of solitary waves for a class of generalized Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equations with the potential in $\mathbb{R}^2$ via the variational methods.
In this paper we establish some results concerning the existence, regularity and concentration phenomenon of nontrivial solitary waves for a Generalized Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (GKP) equation in $\mathbb{R}^2.$ Variational methods are used to get an existence result and to study the concentration phenomenon, while the regularity is more delicate because we are leading with functions in an anisotropic Sobolev space.
In this paper we study the asymptotic behavior of least energy solutions and the existence of multiple bubbling solutions of nonlinear elliptic equations involving the fractional Laplacians and the critical exponents. This work can be seen as a nonlocal analog of the results of Han (Ann. Inst. H. Poincare Anal. Non Lineaire, 1991) and Rey (J. Funct. Anal., 1990).
This paper is intended to review recent results and open problems concerning the existence of steady states to the Maxwell-Schrödinger system. A combination of tools, proofs and results are presented in the framework of the concentration--compactness method.
We consider some nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equations with magnetic field and involving continuous nonlinearities having subcritical, critical or supercritical growth. Under a local condition on the potential, we use minimax methods to investigate the existence and concentration of nontrivial weak solutions.
In this work we use variational methods to prove results on existence and concentration of solutions to a problem in $\mathbb{R}^N$ involving the $1-$Laplacian operator. A thorough analysis on the energy functional defined in the space of functions of bounded variation $BV(\mathbb{R}^N)$ is necessary, where the lack of compactness is overcome by using the Concentration of Compactness Principle of Lions.
Some superlinear fourth order elliptic equations are considered. Ground states are proved to exist and to concentrate at a point in the limit. The proof relies on variational methods, where the existence and concentration of nontrivial solutions are related to a suitable truncated equation.
In this article we study the existence and concentration behavior of bound states for a nonlinear Schrödinger-Poisson system with a parameter $\varepsilon>0$. Under some suitable conditions on the potential functions, we prove that for $\varepsilon$ small the system has a positive solution that concentrates at a point which is a global minimum of the minimax function associated to the related autonomous problem.
Steady flows of an incompressible homogeneous chemically reacting fluid are described by a coupled system, consisting of the generalized Navier--Stokes equations and convection - diffusion equation with diffusivity dependent on the concentration and the shear rate. Cauchy stress behaves like power-law fluid with the exponent depending on the concentration. We prove the existence of a classical solution for the two dimensional periodic case whenever the power law exponent is above one and less than infinity.
In this paper, we study the existence and concentration of positive solution for the following class of fractional elliptic equation $$ ε^{2s} (-Δ)^{s}{u}+V(z)u=f(u)\,\,\, \mbox{in} \,\,\, \mathbb{R}^{N}, $$ where $ε$ is a positive parameter, $f$ has a subcritical growth, $V$ possesses a local minimum, $N > 2s,$ $s \in (0,1),$ and $ (-Δ)^{s}u$ is the fractional laplacian.
This article concerns the fractional elliptic equations \begin{equation*}(-Δ)^{s}u+λV(x)u=f(u), \quad u\in H^{s}(\mathbb{R}^N), \end{equation*}where $(-Δ)^{s}$ ($s\in (0\,,\,1)$) denotes the fractional Laplacian, $λ>0$ is a parameter, $V\in C(\mathbb{R}^N)$ and $V^{-1}(0)$ has nonempty interior. Under some mild assumptions, we establish the existence of nontrivial solutions. Moreover, the concentration of solutions is also explored on the set $V^{-1}(0)$ as $λ\to\infty$.
In this article we are concerned with the following logarithmic Schrödinger equation $$ \left\{ \begin{array}{lc} -ε^2Δu+ V(x)u=u \log u^2, & \mbox{in} \,\, \mathbb{R}^{N}, \\ %u(x)>0, & \mbox{in} \quad \mathbb{R}^{N} \\ u \in H^1(\mathbb{R}^{N}), & \; \\ \end{array} \right. $$ where $ε>0, N \geq 1$ and $V:\mathbb{R}^{N}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a continuous potential. Under a local assumption on the potential $V$, we use the variational methods to prove the existence and concentration of positive solutions for the above problem.
We study the following singularly perturbed nonlocal Schrödinger equation $$ -\vr^2Δu +V(x)u =\vr^{μ-2}\Big[\frac{1}{|x|^μ}\ast F(u)\Big]f(u) \quad \mbox{in} \quad \R^2, $$ where $V(x)$ is a continuous real function on $\R^2$, $F(s)$ is the primitive of $f(s)$, $0<μ<2$ and $\vr$ is a positive parameter. Assuming that the nonlinearity $f(s)$ has critical exponential growth in the sense of Trudinger-Moser, we establish the existence and concentration of solutions by variational methods.
In this paper, we propose an existence result pertaining to a nontrivial solution to the problem \begin{align*} \Bigg\{\begin{split} & Δ^2_p u -Δ_p u + λV(x)|u|^{p-2}u = f(x,u)\,,\,x\in \mathbb{R}^N, & u \in W^{2,p}(\mathbb{R}^N), \end{split} \end{align*} where $λ>0$, $p>1, N>2p$ and $V\in C(\mathbb{R}^N, \mathbb{R}^+)$, $f\in C(\mathbb{R}^N \times \mathbb{R},\mathbb{R})$ with certain properties. We also investigate the concentration of solutions to the problem on the set $V^{-1}(0)$ as $λ\rightarrow \infty$.
In this paper, we study the existence and concentration phenomena of solutions for the following non-local regional Schrödinger equation $$ \left\{ \begin{array}{l} ε^{2α}(-Δ)_ρ^α u + Q(x)u = K(x)|u|^{p-1}u,\;\;\mbox{in}\;\; \mathbb{R}^n,\\ u\in H^α(\mathbb{R}^n) \end{array} \right. $$ where $ε$ is a positive parameter, $0< α< 1$, $1<p<\frac{n+2α}{n-2α}$, $n>2α$; $(-Δ)_ρ^α$ is a variational version of the regional fractional Laplacian, whose range of scope is a ball with radius $ρ(x)>0$, $ρ, Q, K$ are competing functions. We study the existence of ground state and we analyze the behavior of se…
We study the existence of sign-changing solutions for a non-local version of the sinh-Poisson equation on a bounded one-dimensional interval $I$, under Dirichlet conditions in the exterior of $I$. This model is strictly related to the mathematical description of galvanic corrosion phenomena for simple electrochemical systems. By means of the finite-dimensional Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction method, we construct bubbling families of solutions developing an arbitrarily prescribed number sign-alternating peaks. With a careful analysis of the limit profile of the solutions, we also show that the numbe…
This paper is devoted to the analysis of the classical Keller-Segel system over $\mathbb{R}^d$, $d\geq 3$. We describe as much as possible the dynamics of the system characterized by various criteria, both in the parabolic-elliptic case and in the fully parabolic case. The main results when dealing with the parabolic-elliptic case are: local existence without smallness assumption on the initial density, global existence under an improved smallness condition and comparison of blow-up criteria. A new concentration phenomenon criteria for the fully parabolic case is also given. The analysis is co…
In this paper we consider the nonlinear Choquard equation $$ -Δu+V(x)u =\left(\int_{\mathbb{R}^N}\frac{G(y,u)}{|x-y|^μ}dy\right)g(x,u)\hspace{4.14mm}\mbox{in}\hspace{1.14mm} \mathbb{R}^N, $$ where $0<μ<N$, $N\geq3$, $g(x,u)$ is of critical growth due to the Hardy--Littlewood--Sobolev inequality and $G(x,u)=\displaystyle\int^u_0g(x,s)ds$. Firstly, by assuming that the potential $V(x)$ might be sign-changing, we study the existence of Mountain-Pass solution via a concentration-compactness principle for the Choquard equation. Secondly, under the conditions introduced by Benci and Cerami \cite{BC1…
The present study is concerned with the following fractional Schrödinger-Poisson system with steep potential well: $$ \left\{% \begin{array}{ll} (-Δ)^s u+ \la V(x)u+K(x)ϕu= f(u), & x\in\R^3, (-Δ)^t ϕ=K(x)u^2, & x\in\R^3, \end{array}% \right. $$ where $s,t\in(0,1)$ with $4s+2t>3$, and $\la>0$ is a parameter. Under certain assumptions on $V(x)$, $K(x)$ and $f(u)$ behaving like $|u|^{q-2}u$ with $2<q<2_s^*=\frac{6}{3-2s}$, the existence of positive ground state solutions and concentration results are obtained via some new analytical skills and Nehair-Pohožaev identity. In particular, the monotoni…
In this paper, we study the following nonlinear Schrödinger-Poisson type equation \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} -\varepsilon^2Δu+V(x)u+K(x)ϕu=f(u)&\text{in}\ \mathbb{R}^3,\\ -\varepsilon^2Δϕ=K(x)u^2&\text{in}\ \mathbb{R}^3, \end{cases} \end{equation*} where $\varepsilon>0$ is a small parameter, $V: \mathbb{R}^3\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a continuous potential and $K: \mathbb{R}^3\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is used to describe the electron charge. Under suitable assumptions on $V(x), K(x)$ and $f$, we prove existence and concentration properties of ground state solutions for $\varepsilon>0$ small…
In this paper we are interested to prove the existence and concentration of ground state solution for the following class of problems $$ -Δu+V(x)u=A(εx)f(u), \quad x \in \R^{N}, \eqno{(P)_ε} $$ where $N \geq 2$, $ε>0$, $A:\R^{N}\rightarrow\R$ is a continuous function that satisfies $$ 0<\inf_{x\in\R^{N}}A(x)\leq\lim_{|x|\rightarrow+\infty}A(x)<\sup_{x\in\R^{N}}A(x)=A(0),\eqno{(A)} $$ $f:\R\rightarrow\R$ is a continuous function having critical growth, $V:\R^{N}\rightarrow\R$ is a continuous and $\Z^{N}$--periodic function with $0\notinσ(Δ+V)$. By using variational methods, we prove the existen…
In this paper, we study the following semilinear Schrödinger equation $$ -ε^2\triangle u+ u+ V(x)u=f(u),\ u\in H^{1}(\mathbb{R}^{N}), $$ where $N\geq 2$ and $ε>0$ is a small parameter. The function $V$ is bounded in $\mathbb{R}^N$, $\inf_{\mathbb{R}^N}(1+V(x))>0$ and it has a possibly degenerate isolated critical point. Under some conditions on $f,$ we prove that as $ε\rightarrow 0,$ this equation has a solution which concentrates at the critical point of $V$.}
We consider the following singularly perturbed Kirchhoff type equations $$-\varepsilon^2 M\left(\varepsilon^{2-N}\int_{\R^N}|\nabla u|^2 dx\right)Δu +V(x)u=|u|^{p-2}u~\hbox{in}~\R^N, u\in H^1(\R^N),N\geq 1,$$ where $M\in C([0,\infty))$ and $V\in C(\R^N)$ are given functions. Under very mild assumptions on $M$, we prove the existence of single-peak or multi-peak solution $u_\varepsilon$ for above problem, concentrating around topologically stable critical points of $V$, by a direct corresponding argument. This gives an affirmative answer to an open problem raised by Figueiredo et al. in 2014 [A…
In this work we consider the following class of fractional $p\&q$ Laplacian problems \begin{equation*} (-Δ)_{p}^{s}u+ (-Δ)_{q}^{s}u + V(\varepsilon x) (|u|^{p-2}u + |u|^{q-2}u)= f(u) \mbox{ in } \mathbb{R}^{N}, \end{equation*} where $\varepsilon>0$ is a parameter, $s\in (0, 1)$, $1< p<q<\frac{N}{s}$, $(-Δ)^{s}_{t}$, with $t\in \{p,q\}$, is the fractional $t$-Laplacian operator, $V:\mathbb{R}^{N}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a continuous potential and $f:\mathbb{R}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a $\mathcal{C}^{1}$-function with subcritical growth. Applying minimax theorems and the Ljusternik-Schnirelm…
In this work we study the existence of classical solutions for a class of reaction-diffusion systems with quadratic growth naturally arising in mass action chemistry when studying networks of reactions of the type $A_i+A_j \rightleftharpoons A_k$ with Fickian diffusion, where the diffusion coefficients might depend on time, space and on all the concentrations $c_i$ of the chemical species. In the case of one single reaction, we prove global existence for space dimensions $N\leq 5$. In the more restrictive case of diffusion coefficients of the type $d_i(c_i)$, we use an $L^2$-approach to prove …
We are concerned with the following Kirchhoff type equation $$-\varepsilon^2 M \left(\varepsilon^{2-N} \int_{\mathbb{R}^N} | \nabla u|^2\, \mathrm{d} x\right) Δu+V(x)u = f(u),\ x \in \mathbb{R}^N,\ \ N\ge2, $$ where $M \in C(\mathbb{R}^+,\mathbb{R}^+)$, $V\in C(\mathbb{R}^N,\mathbb{R}^+)$ and $f(s)$ is of critical growth. In this paper, we construct a localized bound state solution concentrating at a local minimum of $V$ as $\varepsilon\to 0$ under certain conditions on $f(s)$, $M$ and $V$. In particular, the monotonicity of $f(s)/s$ and the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition are not required.
In this paper we study the existence of ground state solution and concentration of maxima for a class of strongly indefinite problem like $$ \left\{\begin{array}{l} -Δu+V(x)u=A(εx)f(u) \quad \mbox{in} \quad \R^{N}, \\ u\in H^{1}(\R^{N}), \end{array}\right. \eqno{(P)_ε} $$ where $N \geq 1$, $ε$ is a positive parameter, $f: \mathbb{R} \to \mathbb{R}$ is a continuous function with subcritical growth and $V,A: \mathbb{R}^{N} \to \mathbb{R}$ are continuous functions verifying some technical conditions. Here $V$ is a $\mathbb{Z}^N$-periodic function, $0 \not\in σ(-Δ+ V)$, the spectrum of $-Δ+V$, and…
Let $\mathbb{H}^{n}=\mathbb{C}^{n}\times\mathbb{R}$ be the $n$-dimensional Heisenberg group, $Q=2n+2$ be the homogeneous dimension of $\mathbb{H}^{n}$. We extend the well-known concentration-compactness principle on finite domains in the Euclidean spaces of \ P. L. Lions to the setting of the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^{n}$. Furthermore, we also obtain the corresponding concentration-compactness principle for the Sobolev space $HW^{1,Q}\left( \mathbb{H}^{n}\right) $ on the entire Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^{n}$. Our results improve the sharp Trudinger-Moser inequality on domains of finite …
In this paper, we investigate the constrained minimization problem \begin{equation}\label{eq:0.1} e(a):=\inf_{\{u\in \mathcal{H},\|u\|_2^2=1\}}E_a(u), \end{equation} where the energy functional \begin{equation} \label{eq:0.2} E_a(u)=\int_{\mathbb{R}^3}(u\sqrt{-Δ+m^2}\,u+Vu^2)\,dx -\frac{a}{2}\int_{\mathbb{R}^3}(|x|^{-1}*u^2)u^2\,dx \end{equation} with $m\in \mathbb{R}$, $a>0$, is defined on a Sobolev space $\mathcal{H}$. We show that there exists a threshold $a^*>0$ so that $e(a)$ is achieved if $0<a<a^*$, and has no minimizers if $a\geq a^*$. We also investigate the asymptotic behavior of non…
We study the existence of multi-bubble solutions for the following skew-symmetric Chern--Simons system \begin{equation}\label{e051} \left\{ \begin{split} &Δu_1+\frac{1}{\varepsilon^2}e^{u_2}(1-e^{u_1})=4π\sum_{i=1}^{2k}δ_{p_{1,i}}\\ &Δu_2+\frac{1}{\varepsilon^2}e^{u_1}(1-e^{u_2})=4π\sum_{i=1}^{2k}δ_{p_{2,i}} \end{split} \text{ in }\quad Ω\right., \end{equation} where $k\geq 1$ and $Ω$ is a flat tours in $\mathbb{R}^2$.
