We prove a Prodi-Serrin-type global regularity condition for the three-dimensional Magnetohydrodynamic-Boussinesq system (3D MHD-Boussinesq) without thermal diffusion, in terms of only two velocity and two magnetic components. This is the first Prodi-Serrin-type criterion for a hydrodynamic system which is not fully dissipative, and indicates that such an approach may be successful on other systems. In addition, we provide a constructive proof of the local well-posedness of solutions to the fully dissipative 3D MHD-Boussinesq system, and also the fully inviscid, irresistive, non-diffusive MHD-Boussinesq equations. We note that, as a special case, these results include the 3D non-diffusive Boussinesq system and the 3D MHD equations. Moreover, they can be extended without difficulty to include the case of a Coriolis rotational term.
This article is devoted to a Log improvement of Prodi-Serrin criterion for global regularity to solutions to Navier-Stokes equations in dimension 3. It is shown that the global regualrity holds under the condition that |u|^5/ log (1+|u|) is integrable in space time variables.
In this article we present a Lady{ž}enskaja-Prodi-Serrin Criteria for regularity of solutions for the Navier-Stokes equation in three dimensions which incorporates weak $L^p$ norms in the space variables and log improvement in the time variable.
The paper is concerned with the regularity of weak solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations. The aim is to investigate on a relaxed Prodi-Serrin condition in order to obtain regularity for t > 0. The most interesting aspect of the result is that no compatibility condition is required to the initial data $v_0\in J^2(\OO) J2(Ω)$.
This work is devoted to prove new entropy estimates for a general isothermal model of capillary fluids derived by J.E Dunn and J.Serrin (1985) (see \cite{fDS}), which can be used as a phase transition model. More precisely we will derive new estimates for the density and we will give a new structure for the Korteweg system which allow us to obtain the existence of global weak solution. The key of the proof comes from the introduction of a new effective velocity. The proof is widely inspired from the works of A. Mellet and A. Vasseur (see \cite{fMV}). In a second part, we shall give a Prody-Serr…
In this paper, we consider the conditional regularity of weak solution to the 3D Navier--Stokes equations. More precisely, we prove that if one directional derivative of velocity, say $\partial_3 u,$ satisfies $\partial_3 u \in L^{p_0,1}(0,T; L^{q_0}(\mathbb{R}^3))$ with $\frac{2}{p_{0}}+\frac{3}{q_{0}}=2$ and $\frac{3}{2}<q_0< +\infty,$ then the weak solution is regular on $(0,T].$ The proof is based on the new local energy estimates introduced by Chae-Wolf (arXiv:1911.02699) and Wang-Wu-Zhang (arXiv:2005.11906).
We consider the stochastic divergence-free continuity equations with Ladyzhenskaya-Prodi-Serrin condition. Wellposedness is proved meanwhile uniqueness may fail for the deterministic PDE. The main issue of uniqueness realies on stochastic characteristic method and the generalized Ito-Ventzel-Kunita formula. Moreover, we prove a stability property for the solution with respect to the initial datum.
In this paper, we study the three-dimensional axisymmetric Navier-Stokes system with nonzero swirl. By establishing a new key inequality for the pair $(\frac{ω^{r}}{r},\frac{ω^θ}{r})$, we get several Prodi-Serrin type regularity criteria based on the angular velocity, $u^θ$. Moreover, we obtain the global well-posedness result if the initial angular velocity $u_{0}^θ$ is appropriate small in the critical space $L^{3}(\R^{3})$. Furthermore, we also get several Prodi-Serrin type regularity criteria based on one component of the solutions, say $ω^3$ or $u^3$.
Several types of new regularity criteria for Leray-Hopf weak solutions $u$ to the 3D Navier-Stokes equations are obtained. Some of them are based on the third component $u_3$ of velocity under Prodi-Serrin index condition, another type is in terms of $ω_3$ and $\partial_3u_3$ with Prodi-Serrin index condition. And a very recent work of the authors, based on only one of the nine entries of the gradient tensor, is renovated.
In this investigation we perform a systematic computational search for potential singularities in 3D Navier-Stokes flows based on the Ladyzhenskaya-Prodi-Serrin conditions. They assert that if the quantity $\int_0^T \| \mathbf{u}(t) \|_{L^q(Ω)}^p \, dt$, where $2/p+3/q \le 1$, $q > 3$, is bounded, then the solution $\mathbf{u}(t)$ of the Navier-Stokes system is smooth on the interval $[0,T]$. In other words, if a singularity should occur at some time $t \in [0,T]$, then this quantity must be unbounded. We have probed this condition by studying a family of variational PDE optimization problems …
We study the regularity problem of a nematic liquid crystal model with local configuration represented by Q-tensor in three dimensions. It was an open question whether the classical Prodi-Serrin condition implies regularity for this model. Applying a wavenumber splitting method, we show that a solution does not blow-up under certain extended Beale-Kato-Majda condition solely imposed on velocity. This regularity criterion automatically implies that the classical Prodi-Serrin or Beale-Kato-Majda condition prevents blow-up of solutions.
In this paper, we consider regularity criteria of a class of 3D axially symmetric MHD-Boussinesq systems without magnetic resistivity or thermal diffusivity. Under some Prodi-Serrin type critical assumptions on the horizontal angular component of the velocity, we will prove that strong solutions of the axially symmetric MHD-Boussinesq system can be smoothly extended beyond the possible blow-up time $T_\ast$ if the magnetic field contains only the horizontal swirl component. No a priori assumption on the magnetic field and the temperature fluctuation is imposed.
In this paper, we prove that suitable weak solution $(u,b)$ of the 3-D MHD equations can be extended beyond $T$ if $u\in L^\infty(0,T;L^3(\R^3))$ and the horizontal components $b_h$ of the magnetic field satisfies the well-known Ladyzhenskaya-Prodi-Serrin condition.
We show that if v is an axially symmetric suitable weak solution to the Navier Stokes equations (in the sense of L. Caffarelli, R. Kohn & L. Nirenberg) such that the radial component of v has a higher regularity (i.e. satisfies weighted Serrin-Prodi type condition), then all components of v are regular.
We develop Ladyzhenskaya-Prodi-Serrin type spectral regularity criteria for 3D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in a torus. Concretely, for any $N>0$, let $w_N$ be the sum of all spectral components of the velocity fields whose all three wave numbers are greater than $N$ absolutely. Then, we show that for any $N>0$, the finiteness of the Serrin type norm of $w_N$ implies the regularity of the flow. It implies that if the flow breaks down in a finite time, the energy of the velocity fields cascades down to the arbitrarily large spectral components of $w_N$ and corresponding energy spectru…
This paper studies the regularity and energy conservation problems for the 2D supercritical quasi-geostrophic (SQG) equation. We apply an approach of splitting the dissipation wavenumber to obtain a new regularity condition which is weaker than all the Prodi-Serrin type regularity conditions. Moreover, we prove that any weak solution of the supercritical SQG in $L^2(0,T; B^{1/2}_{2,c(\mathbb N)})$ satisfies energy equality.
We establish some interior regularity criterions of suitable weak solutions for the 3-D Navier-Stokes equations, which allow the vertical part of the velocity to be large under the local scaling invariant norm. As an application, we improve Ladyzhenskaya-Prodi-Serrin's criterion and Escauriza-Seregin-Šverák's criterion. We also show that if weak solution $u$ satisfies $$ \|u(\cdot,t)\|_{L^p}\leq C(-t)^{\frac {3-p}{2p}} $$ for some $3<p<\infty$, then the number of singular points is finite.
This paper studies the regularity problem for the 3D incompress- ible resistive viscous Hall-magneto-hydrodynamic (Hall-MHD) system. The Kolmogorov 41 phenomenological theory of turbulence predicts that there exists a critical wavenumber above which the high frequency part is dominated by the dissipation term in the fluid equation. Inspired by this idea, we apply an approach of splitting the wavenumber combined with an estimate of the energy flux to obtain a new regularity criterion. The regularity condition presented here is weaker than conditions in the existing criteria (Prodi-Serrin type c…
In this paper, we investigate some sufficient conditions for the breakdown of local smooth solutions to the three dimensional nonlinear nonlocal dissipative system modeling electro-hydrodynamics. This model is a strongly coupled system by the well-known incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and the classical Poisson-Nernst-Planck equations. We show that the maximum of the vorticity field alone controls the breakdown of smooth solutions, which reveals that the velocity field plays a more dominant role than the density functions of charged particles in the blow-up theory of the system. Moreover…
This notes concern the sufficient conditions for regularity of solutions to the evolution Navier-Stokes equations known in the literature as Prodi-Serrin's condition. H.-O. Bae and H.-J. Choe proved in a 1999 paper that, in the whole space R^3, it is merely sufficient that two components of the velocity satisfy the above condition. Below, we extend the result to the half-space case R^n_+ under slip boundary conditions. We show that it is sufficient that the velocity component parallel to the boundary enjoys the above condition. Flat boundary geometry seems not essential, as suggested by some p…
We obtain logarithmic improvements for conditions for regularity of the Navier-Stokes equation, similar to those of Prodi-Serrin or Beale-Kato-Majda. Some of the proofs make use of a stochastic approach involving Feynman-Kac like inequalities. As part of the our methods, we give a different approach to a priori estimates of Foias, Guillope and Temam.
