We use Totaro's examples of non-semiample nef line bundles on smooth projective surfaces over finite fields to construct nef line bundles for which the first cohomology group cannot be killed by any generically finite covers. This is used to show a similar example of a nef and big line bundle on a smooth projective threefold over a finite field. This improves some examples of Bhatt and answers some of his questions.
Finally, we prove a new vanishing theorem for the first cohomology group of strictly nef line bundles on projective varieties defined over finite fields.
Let $L$ be a line bundle on a scheme $X$, proper over a field. The property of $L$ being nef can sometimes be "thickened", allowing reductions to positive characteristic. We call such line bundles arithmetically nef. It is known that a line bundle $L$ may be nef, but not arithmetically nef. We show that $L$ is arithmetically nef if and only if its restriction to its stable base locus is arithmetically nef. Consequently, if $L$ is nef and its stable base locus has dimension $1$ or less, then $L$ is arithmetically nef.
We study the geometry of projective manifolds whose tangent bundles are nef on sufficiently general curves (i.e. the tangent bundle is generically nef) and show that manifolds whose anticanonical bundles are semi-ample have this property. Furthermore we introduce a notion of sufficient nefness and investigate the relation with manifolds whose anticanonical bundles are nef.
We construct examples to show that having nef cotangent bundle is not preserved under finite ramified covers. Our examples also show that a projective manifold with Stein universal cover may not have nef cotangent bundle, disproving a conjecture of Liu-Maxim-Wang.

We study the behaviour of semistability under tensor product in various settings: vector bundles, euclidean and hermitian lattices (alias Humbert forms or Arakelov bundles), multifiltered vector spaces. The present paper concerns the invariants of generically nef vector bundles on ruled surfaces. By Mehta - Ramanathan Restriction Theorem and by Miyaoka characterization of semistable vector bundles on a curve, the generic nefness can be considered as a weak form of semistability. We establish a Bogomolov type inequality for generically nef vector bundles with nef general fiber restriction on ruled surfaces with no negative section. In this note, we give a brief exposition on the differences and similarities between strictly nef and ample vector bundles, with particular focus on the circle of problems surrounding the geometry of projective manifolds with strictly nef bundles.
We prove that the Albanese map of a smooth projective threefold, whose anticanonical bundle is nef, is a surjective submersion. We also investigate morphisms of threefolds to curves and surfaces whose relative anticanonical bundle are nef.
The cotangent bundle of a non-uniruled projective manifold is generically nef, due to a theorem of Miyaoka. We show that the cotangent bundle is actually generically ample, if the manifold is of general type and study in detail the case of intermediate Kodaira dimension. We classify nef vector bundles on a projective space with first Chern class three over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero; we see, in particular, that these nef vector bundles are globally generated if the second Chern class is less than eight, and that there exist nef but non-globally generated vector bundles with second Chern class eight and nine on a projective plane.

In this paper, we show that if the tangent bundle of a smooth projective variety is strictly nef, then it is isomorphic to a projective space; if a projective variety $X^n$ $(n>4)$ has strictly nef $Λ^2 TX$, then it is isomorphic to $\mathbb{P}^n$ or quadric $\mathbb{Q}^n$. We also prove that on elliptic curves, strictly nef vector bundles are ample, whereas there exist Hermitian flat and strictly nef vector bundles on any smooth curve with genus $g\geq 2$.
In this paper, we use canonical bundle formulas to prove some generalizations of an old theorem of Kawamata on the semiampleness of nef and abundant log canonical divisors. In particular, we show that for klt pairs $(X,B)$ with $K_X+B$ effective, $L \in Pic (X)$ nef, nefness and abundance of $K_X+B+L$ implies semiampleness. This essentially generalizes Kawamata's theorem to the setting of generalized abundance.
Under some conditions on the deformation type, which we expect to be satisfied for arbitrary irreducible symplectic varieties, we describe which big and nef line bundles on irreducible symplectic varieties have base divisors. In particular, we show that such base divisors are always irreducible and reduced. This is applied to understand the behaviour of divisorial base components of big and nef line bundles under deformations and for K3$^{[n]}$-type and Kum$^n$-type.
Let $(X, ω_X)$ be a compact Kähler manifold such that the anticanonical bundle $-K_X$ is nef. We prove that the slopes of the Harder-Narasimhan filtration of the tangent bundle with respect to a polarization of the form $ω_X^{n-1}$ are semi-positive. As an application, we give a characterization of rationally connected compact Kähler manifolds with nef anticanonical bundles. As another application, we give a simple proof of the surjectivity of the Albanese map.

In this paper we study holomorphic vector bundles with singular Hermitian metrics whose curvature are Hermitian matrix currents. We obtain an extension theorem for holomorphic jet sections of nef holomorphic vector bundle on compact Kähler manifolds. Using it we prove that Fano manifolds with strong Griffiths nef tangent bundles are rational homogeneous spaces.
In characteristic $0$, the Campana-Peternell conjecture claims that the only smooth Fano variety with nef tangent bundle should be homogeneous. In this paper, we study the positive characteristic version of the Campana-Peternell conjecture. In particular, we give an affirmative answer for Fano $4$-folds with nef tangent bundle and Picard number greater than one.

In a recent preprint, H. Tsuji gave a number of interesting assertions on the structure of pseudo-effective line bundles on projective manifolds. In particular, he postulated the existence of an almost-holomorphic "reduction map", whose fibers are maximal subvarieties on which the line bundle is numerically trivial. The purpose of this note is to give a simple, algebraic proof of the existence of a reduction map in the case where the line bundle is nef.

In this article we prove new results on projective normality and normal presentation of adjunction bundle associated to an ample and globally generated line bundle on higher dimensional smooth projective varieties with nef canonical bundle. As one of the consequences of the main theorem, we give bounds on very ampleness and projective normality of pluricanonical linear systems on varieties of general type in dimensions three, four and five. These improve known such results.
Let X be a compact Kähler manifold such that the anticanonical bundle $-K_X$ is nef. A classical conjecture claims that the Albanese map is submersive. We prove this conjecture if the general fibre is a weak Fano manifold. If X is projective we prove the conjecture also for fibres of dimension at most two.
Suppose that $X$ is a projective manifold whose tangent bundle $T_X$ contains a locally free strictly nef subsheaf. We prove that $X$ is isomorphic to a projective bundle over a hyperbolic manifold. Let $X$ be a smooth projective variety defined over an algebraically closed field of positive characteristic $p$ whose tangent bundle is nef. We prove that $X$ admits a smooth morphism $X \to M$ such that the fibers are Fano varieties with nef tangent bundle and $T_M$ is numerically flat. We also prove that extremal contractions exist as smooth morphisms. As an application, we prove that, if the Frobenius morphism can be lifted modulo $p^2$, then $X$ admits, up to a finite étale Galois cover, a smooth morphism onto an ordinary abelian variety whose fibers are products of projective spaces.
We describe all of the smooth complete toric threefolds of Picard number 5 with no nontrivial nef line bundles, and show that no such examples exist with Picard number less than 5.
In this article, we give a description of the closed cone of curves of the projective bundle $\mathbb{P}(E)$ over a smooth projective variety $X$. Using duality, we then calculate the nef cone of divisors in $\mathbb{P}(E)$ over some special surfaces $X$ and for some special bundles on $X$. As an application, we also calculate the Seshadri constants of semistable ample vector bundles with vanishing discriminant on some special ruled surfaces at special points.
We approach non-divisorial base loci of big and nef line bundles on irreducible symplectic varieties. While for K3 surfaces, only divisorial base loci can occur, nothing was known about the behaviour of non-divisorial base loci for more general irreducible symplectic varieties. We determine the base loci of all big and nef line bundles on the Hilbert scheme of two points on very general K3 surfaces of genus two and on their birational models. We apply Ueda theory to a study of singular Hermitian metrics of a (strictly) nef line bundle $L$. Especially we study minimal singular metrics of $L$, metrics of $L$ with the mildest singularities among singular Hermitian metrics of $L$ whose local weights are plurisubharmonic. In some situations, we determine a minimal singular metric of $L$. As an application, we give new examples of (strictly) nef line bundles which admit no smooth Hermitian metric with semi-positive curvature.
In this paper, we study smooth complex projective varieties $X$ such that some exterior power $\bigwedge^r T_X$ of the tangent bundle is strictly nef. We prove that such varieties are rationally connected. We also classify the following two cases. If $T_X$ is strictly nef, then $X$ isomorphic to the projective space $\mathrm{P}^n$. If $\bigwedge^2 T_X$ is strictly nef and if $X$ has dimension at least $3$, then $X$ is either isomorphic to $\mathrm{P}^n$ or a quadric $\mathrm{Q}^n$.
