We study period relations of Jacobi forms. It turns out that the relations satisfied by Mordell integral coming from Lerch or Appell sums are the special case of those. The existence of Jacobi integral associated to given period function using generalized Poincaré series is claimed.
In recent years, a number of papers have been devoted to the study of roots of period polynomials of modular forms. Here, we study cohomological analogues of the Eichler-Shimura period polynomials corresponding to higher $L$-derivatives. We state general conjectures about the locations of the roots of the full and odd parts of the polynomials, in analogy with the existing literature on period polynomials, and we also give numerical evidence that similar results hold for our higher derivative "period polynomials" in the case of cusp forms. We prove a special case of this conjecture in the case …
This work gives a version of the Eichler-Shimura isomorphism with a non-abelian $H^1$ in group cohomology. Manin has given a map from vectors of cusp forms to a noncommutative cohomology set by means of iterated integrals. We show Manin's map is injective but far from surjective. By extending Manin's map we are able to construct a bijective map and remarkably this establishes the existence of a non-abelian version of the Eichler-Shimura map.
This paper develops a general theory of the Fourier-Jacobi expansion of cusp forms on the real symplectic group of degree two including generic cusp forms. An explicit description of such expansion is available for cusp forms generating discrete series representations, generalized principal series representations induced from the Jacobi parabolic subgroup and principal series representations, where we note that the latter two cases include non-spherical representations. As the archimedean local ingredients we need Fourier-Jacobi type spherical functions and Whittaker functions, whose explicit …
This doctoral thesis studies the overlap between two well-known collections of results in number theory: the theory of periods and period polynomials of modular forms as developed by Eichler, Shimura and Manin and its extensions by Köhnen and Zagier, and the theory of 'multiple zeta values' (MZV's) as initied by Euler and studied by many authors in the last two decades. These two theories had been linked by Manin, who introduced 'multiple L-values' (MLV's). We propose to study those families of number and especially the relations among them, generalizing the Eichler-Shimura-Manin relations, an…
Since their introduction by Andrews, generalized Frobenius partitions have interested a number of authors, many of whom have worked out explicit formulas for their generating functions in specific cases. This has uncovered interesting combinatorial structure and led to proofs of a number of congruences. In this paper, we show how Andrews' generating functions can be cast in the framework of Eichler and Zagier's Jacobi forms. This reformulation allows us to compute explicit formulas for the generalized Frobenius partition generating functions (and in fact provides formulas for further functions…
For functions $f: \mathcal{P}\rightarrow \mathbb{C}$ on partitions, Bloch and Okounkov defined a power series $\langle f\rangle_q$ that is the "weighted average" of $f$. As Fourier series in $q=e^{2πi z}$, such $q$-brackets generate the ring of quasimodular forms, and the modular forms that are powers of Dedekind's eta-function. Using work of Berndt and Han, we build modular objects from $$ f_t(λ):= t\sum_{h\in \mathcal{H}_t(λ)}\frac{1}{h^2}, $$ weighted sums over partition hook numbers that are multiples of $t$. We find that $\langle f_t \rangle_q$ is the Eichler integral of $(1-E_2(tz))/24,$…
We show how Andrews' generating functions for generalized Frobenius partitions can be understood within the theory of Eichler and Zagier as specific coefficients of certain Jacobi forms. This reformulation leads to a recursive process which yields explicit formulas for the generalized Frobenius partition generating functions in terms of infinite $q$-products. In particular, we show that specific examples of our result easily reestablish previously known formulas, and we describe new congruences, both conjectural and proven, in additional cases. The modular structure of Jacobi forms indicates t…
In this paper we determine the limiting distribution of the image of the Eichler--Shimura map or equivalently the limiting joint distribution of the coefficients of the period polynomials associated to a fixed cusp form. The limiting distribution is shown to be the distribution of a certain transformation of two independent random variables both of which are equidistributed on the circle $\mathbb{R}/\mathbb{Z}$, where the transformation is connected to the additive twist of the cuspidal $L$-function. Furthermore we determine the asymptotic behavior of the zeroes of the period polynomials of a …
For all integers $m \geq n \geq 2$, we exhibit infinite families of purely periodic Jacobi-Perron Algorithm (JPA) expansions of dimension $n$ with period length equal to $m$ along with the associated Hasse-Bernstein units. Some observations on the units of Levesque-Rhin as well as the periodicity of the JPA expansion of $\left( m^{1/3}, m^{2/3} \right)$ are also made.
In this article we obtain an explicit formula for certain Rankin-Selberg type Dirichlet series associated to certain Siegel cusp forms of half-integral weight. Here these Siegel cusp forms of half-integral weight are obtained from the composition of the Ikeda lift and the Eichler-Zagier-Ibukiyama correspondence. The integral weight version of the main theorem had been obtained by Katsurada and Kawamura. The result of the integral weight case is a product of $L$-function and Riemann zeta functions, while half-integral weight case is a infinite summation over negative fundamental discriminants w…
Generalizing a result of~\cite{Z1991} for modular forms of level~one, we give a closed formula for the sum of all Hecke eigenforms on $Γ_0(N)$, multiplied by their odd period polynomials in two variables, as a single product of Jacobi theta series for any squarefree level $N$. We also show that for $N=2$,~3 and~5 this formula completely determines the Fourier expansions of all Hecke eigenforms of all weights on $Γ_0(N)$.
Let $A/\mathbb{Q}$ be a Jacobian variety and let $F$ be a totally real, tamely ramified, abelian number field. Given a character $ψ$ of $F/\mathbb{Q}$, Deligne's Period Conjecture asserts the algebraicity of the suitably normalised value $\mathcal{L}(A,ψ,1)$ at $z=1$ of the Hasse-Weil-Artin $L$-function of the $ψ$-twist of $A$. We formulate a conjecture regarding the integrality properties of the family of normalised $L$-values $(\mathcal{L}(A,ψ,1))_ψ$, and its relation to the Tate-Shafarevich group of $A$ over $F$. We numerically investigate our conjecture through $p$-adic congruence relation…
Let $D$ be a definite quaternion algebra over $\mathbb{Q}$ and $\mathcal{O}$ an Eichler order in $D$ of square-free level. We study distribution of the toric periods of algebraic modular forms of level $\mathcal{O}$. We focus on two problems: non-vanishing and sign changes. Firstly, under certain conditions on $\mathcal{O}$, we prove the non-vanishing of the toric periods for positive proportion of imaginary quadratic fields. This improves the known lower bounds toward Goldfeld's conjecture in some cases and provides evidence for similar non-vanishing conjectures for central values of twisted …
We establish an Eichler-Shimura isomorphism for weakly modular forms of level one. We do this by relating weakly modular forms with rational Fourier coefficients to the algebraic de Rham cohomology of the modular curve with twisted coefficients. This leads to formulae for the periods and quasi-periods of modular forms.
In this work we study the analytic properties of the standard L-function attached to Siegel-Jacobi modular forms of higher index, generalizing previous results of Arakawa and Murase. Furthermore, we obtain algebraicity results on special L-values in the spirit of Deligne's Period Conjectures.
