We prove an extension to R^n, endowed with a suitable metric, of the relation between the Einstein-Hilbert action and the Dirac operator which holds on closed spin manifolds. By means of complex powers, we first define the regularised Wodzicki Residue for a class of operators globally defined on R^n. The result is then obtained by using the properties of heat kernels and generalised Laplacians.
A classical problem in operator theory has been to determine the spectrum of Toeplitz-like operators on Hilbert spaces of vector-valued holomorphic functions on the open unit ball in C^m. In this note we obtain necessary conditions for k-tuples of such operators to be Fredholm in the sense of Taylor and show they are sufficient in the case of the unit disk.
We study reproducing kernels, and associated reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces (RKHSs) $\mathscr{H}$ over infinite, discrete and countable sets $V$. In this setting we analyze in detail the distributions of the corresponding Dirac point-masses of $V$. Illustrations include certain models from neural networks: An Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) is a neural network-configuration in which a hidden layer of weights are randomly sampled, and where the object is then to compute resulting output. For RKHSs $\mathscr{H}$ of functions defined on a prescribed countable infinite discrete set $V$, we chara…
This note aims to investigate the tensor product of two given Hilbert quasi *-algebras and its properties. The construction proposed in this note turns out to be again a Hilbert quasi *-algebra, thus interesting representability properties studed in \cite{AT} are maintained. Furthermore, if two functionals are representable and continuous respectively on the two Hilbert quasi *-algebras, then so is their tensor product.
We provide a direct proof of a result regarding the asymptotic behavior of alternating nearest point projections onto two closed and convex sets in a Hilbert space. Our arguments are based on nonexpansive mapping theory.
The aim of this paper is to show that two accessible subspaces in the Loynes $\mathcal{Z}$ - space $\Hc$ are the initial and final space of a partial gramian isometry, respectively if the norm of the difference of the associated gramian selfadjoint projections is strictly less than 1.
A well-known theorem due to R. E. Curto and N. Salinas gives a necessary and sufficient condition for the unitary equivalence of commuting tuples of bounded linear operators acting on reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. Inspired by this theorem, we obtain a different but equivalent criterion for the unitary equivalence of operators acting on reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. As an application, we describe the structure of intertwining operator and prove that the decomposition of Cowen-Douglas operators is unique up to unitary equivalence.
In this note we produce generalized versions of the classical inequalities of Hardy and of Hilbert and we establish their equivalence. Our methods rely on the H^1-BMOA duality. We produce a class of examples to establish that the generalizations are non-trivial.
In this thesis, we investigate the proof of the Baum-Connes Conjecture with Coefficients for a-$T$-menable groups. We will mostly and essentially follow the argument employed by N. Higson and G. Kasparov in the paper [Nigel Higson and Gennadi Kasparov. $E$-theory and $KK$-theory for groups which act properly and isometrically on Hilbert space. Invent. Math., 144(1):23-74, 2001]. The crucial feature is as follows. One of the most important point of their proof is how to get the Dirac elements (the inverse of the Bott elements) in Equivariant $KK$-Theory. We prove that the group homomorphism use…
In this manuscript, we present several new results in finite and countable dimensional real Hilbert space phase retrieval and norm retrieval by vectors and projections. We make a detailed study of when hyperplanes do norm retrieval. Also, we show that the families of norm retrievable frames $\{f_{i}\}_{i=1}^{m}$ in $\mathbb{R}^n$ are not dense in the family of $m\leq (2n-2)$-element sets of vectors in $\mathbb{R}^n$ for every finite $n$ and the families of vectors which do norm retrieval in $\ell^2$ are not dense in the infinite families of vectors in $\ell^2$. We also show that if a Riesz bas…
In this note we present some properties of the Dirac operator on noncompact metric graphs with Kirchoff-type vertex conditions. In particular, we discuss the specific features of the spectrum of the operator and, finally, we give some further details on the associated quadratic form (and on the form domain).
This note consists of two largely independent parts. In the first part we give conditions on the kernel $k: Ω\times Ω\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ of a reproducing kernel Hilbert space $H$ continuously embedded via the identity mapping into $L^2(Ω, μ),$ which are equivalent to the fact that $H$ is even compactly embedded into $L^2(Ω, μ).$ In the second part we consider a scenario from infinite-variate $L^2$-approximation. Suppose that the embedding of a reproducing kernel Hilbert space of univariate functions with reproducing kernel $1+k$ into $L^2(Ω, μ)$ is compact. We provide a simple criterion fo…
We consider the linear Dirac operator with a (-1)-homogeneous locally periodic potential that varies with respect to a small parameter. Using the notation of G-convergence for positive self-adjoint operators in Hilbert spaces we prove G-compactness in the strong resolvent sense for families of projections of Dirac operators. We also prove convergence of the corresponding point spectrum in the spectral gap.
We characterise the Kato property of a sectorial form $\mathfrak{a}$, defined on a Hilbert space $V$, with respect to a larger Hilbert space $H$ in terms of two bounded, selfadjoint operators $T$ and $Q$ determined by the imaginary part of $\mathfrak{a}$ and the embedding of $V$ into $H$, respectively. As a consequence, we show that if a bounded selfadjoint operator $T$ on a Hilbert space $V$ is in the Schatten class $S_p(V)$ ($p\geq 1$), then the associated form $\mathfrak{a}_T(\cdot, \cdot) := \langle (I+iT)\cdot ,\cdot\rangle_V$ has the Kato property with respect to every Hilbert space $H$ …
In this paper we show that every conjugation $C$ on the Hardy-Hilbert space $H^{2}$ is of type $C=T^{*}C_{1}T$, where $T$ is an unitary operator and $C_{1}f\left(z\right)=\overline{f\left(\overline{z}\right)}$, with $f\in H^{2}$. In the sequence, we extend this result for all separable Hilbert space $\mathcal H$ and we prove some properties of complex symmetry on $\mathcal H$. Finally, we prove some relations of complex symmetry between the operators $T$ and $\left|T\right|$, where $T =U\left|T\right|$ is the polar decomposition of bounded operator $T\in\mathcal L\left(\mathcal H\right)$ on th…
In this note, we highlight some properties of the metric projection onto a closed convex in a Hilbert space. In particular, we use some recent results on fixed points of nonexpansive potential operators.
\begin{abstract} In this manuscript, we answer a list of longstanding open problems on weak phase retrieval including: (1) A complete classification of the vectors $\{x_i\}_{i=1}^2$ in $\RR^3$ that do weak phase retrieval; (2) We show that frames doing weak phase retrieval in $\RR^n$ must span $\RR^n$; (3) We give an example of a set of vectors doing phase retrieval but their orthogonal complement hyperplanes fail weak phase retrieval; (4) We give a classification of weak phase retrievable frames - which makes clear the difference between phase retrieval and weak phase retrieval; (5) We classi…
In this note, we describe the backward shift invariant subspaces for a large class of reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. This class includes in particular de Branges-Rovnyak spaces (the non-extreme case) and the range space of co-analytic Toeplitz operators.
Let $H$ be a real Hilbert space. In this short note, using some of the properties of bounded linear operators with closed range defined on $H$, certain bounds for a specific convex subset of the solution set of infinite linear complementarity problems, are established.
In this note we discuss an abstract framework for standard boundary value problems in divergence form with maximal monotone relations as "coefficients". A reformulation of the respective problems is constructed such that they turn out to be unitary equivalent to inverting a maximal monotone relation in a Hilbert space. The method is based on the idea of "tailor-made" distributions as provided by the construction of extrapolation spaces, see e.g. [Picard, McGhee: Partial Differential Equations: A unified Hilbert Space Approach. DeGruyter, 2011]. The abstract framework is illustrated by various …
In this note, following the theory of discrete frame perturbations in a complex Hilbert space, we examine perturbation of rank $n$ continuous frame, rank $n$ continuous Bessel family and rank $n$ continuous Riesz family in a non-commutative setting, namely in a right quaternionic Hilbert space.
In this note we settle some technical questions concerning finite rank quasi-free Hilbert modules and develop some useful machinery. In particular, we provide a method for determining when two such modules are unitarily equivalent. Along the way we obtain representations for module maps and study how to determine the underlying holomorphic structure on such modules.
In this note, following the complex theory, we examine discrete controlled frames, discrete weighted frames and frame multipliers in a non-commutative setting, namely in a left quaternionic Hilbert space. In particular, we show that the controlled frames are equivalent to usual frames under certain conditions. We also study connection between frame multipliers and weighted frames in the same Hilbert space.
