We study single-site stochastic and deterministic transforma- tions of one-dimensional Gibbs measures in the uniqueness regime with infinite-range interactions. We prove conservation of Gibbsianness and give quantitative estimates on the decay of the transformed potential. As examples, we consider exponentially decaying potentials, and potentials decaying as a power-law.
We show that nontrivial bi-infinite polymer Gibbs measures do not exist in typical environments in the inverse-gamma (or log-gamma) directed polymer model on the planar square lattice. The precise technical result is that, except for measures supported on straight-line paths, such Gibbs measures do not exist in almost every environment when the weights are independent and identically distributed inverse-gamma random variables. The proof proceeds by showing that when two endpoints of a point-to-point polymer distribution are taken to infinity in opposite directions but not parallel to lattice d…
We consider the ferromagnetic n.n Ising model on Cayley trees in absence of external fields submitted to a modified majority rule transformation with overlapping cells already known to lead to non-Gibbsian measures. We describe the renormalized measures within the Generalized Gibbs framework and prove that they are Almost Gibbs at any temperature.
We consider a one-dimensional lattice system of unbounded, real-valued spins with arbitrary strong, quadratic, finite-range interaction. We show the equivalence of correlations of the grand canonical (gce) and the canonical ensemble (ce). As a corollary we obtain that the correlations of the ce decay exponentially plus a volume correction term. Then, we use the decay of correlation to verify a conjecture that the infinite-volume Gibbs measure of the ce is unique on a one-dimensional lattice. For the equivalence of correlations, we modify a method that was recently used by the authors to show t…
We study Gibbsian models of unbounded integer-valued spins on trees which possess a symmetry under height-shift. We develop a theory relating boundary laws to gradient Gibbs measures, which applies also in cases where the corresponding Gibbs measures do not exist. Our results extend the classical theory of Zachary beyond the case of normalizable boundary laws, which implies existence of Gibbs measures, to periodic boundary laws. We provide a construction for classes of tree-automorphism invariant gradient Gibbs measures in terms of mixtures of pinned measures, whose marginals to infinite paths…
We prove that at any inverse temperature $β$ and on any transitive amenable graph, the automorphism-invariant Gibbs states of the ferromagnetic Ising model are convex combinations of the plus and minus states. This is obtained for a general class of interactions, that is automorphism-invariant and irreducible coupling constants. The proof uses the random current representation of the Ising model. The result is novel when the graph is not $\mathbb{Z}^d$, or when the graph is $\mathbb{Z}^d$ but endowed with infinite-range interactions, or even $\mathbb{Z}^2$ with finite-range interactions. Among…
Consider the radial nonlinear wave equation $-\partial_t^2 u + Δu = u^3$, $u :\mathbb{R}_t \times \mathbb{R}_x^3 \to \mathbb{R}$, $u(t,x) = u(t,|x|)$. In this paper, we construct a Gibbs measure for this system and prove its invariance under the flow of the NLW. In particular, we are in the infinite volume setting. For the finite volume analogue, specifically on the unit ball with zero boundary values, an invariant Gibbs measure was constructed by Burq, Tvetkov, and de Suzzoni as a Borel measure on super-critical Sobolev spaces. In this paper, we advocate that the finite volume Gibbs measure b…
We provide a new proof of the existence of Gibbs point processes with infinite range interactions, based on the compactness of entropy levels. Our main existence theorem holds under two assumptions. The first one is the standard stability assumption, which means that the energy of any finite configuration is super-linear with respect to the number of points. The second assumption is the so-called intensity regularity, which controls the long range of the interaction via the intensity of the process. This assumption is new and introduced here since it is well adapted to the entropy approach. As…
We define a potential-weighted connective constant that measures the effective strength of a repulsive pair potential of a Gibbs point process modulated by the geometry of the underlying space. We then show that this definition leads to improved bounds for Gibbs uniqueness for all non-trivial repulsive pair potentials on $\mathbb R^d$ and other metric measure spaces. We do this by constructing a tree-branching collection of densities associated to the point process that captures the interplay between the potential and the geometry of the space. When the activity is small as a function of the p…
We derive thermodynamic functionals for spatially inhomogeneous magnetization on a torus in the context of an Ising spin lattice model. We calculate the corresponding free energy and pressure (by applying an appropriate external field using a quadratic Kac potential) and show that they are related via a modified Legendre transform. The local properties of the infinite volume Gibbs measure, related to whether a macroscopic configuration is realized as a homogeneous state or as a mixture of pure states, are also studied by constructing the corresponding Young-Gibbs measures.
Consider a statistical physical model on the $d$-regular infinite tree $T_{d}$ described by a set of interactions $Φ$. Let $\{G_{n}\}$ be a sequence of finite graphs with vertex sets $V_n$ that locally converge to $T_{d}$. From $Φ$ one can construct a sequence of corresponding models on the graphs $G_n$. Let $\{μ_n\}$ be the resulting Gibbs measures. Here we assume that $\{μ_{n}\}$ converges to some limiting Gibbs measure $μ$ on $T_{d}$ in the local weak$^*$ sense, and study the consequences of this convergence for the specific entropies $|V_n|^{-1}H(μ_n)$. We show that the limit supremum of $…
We study equilibrium states of an infinite system of interacting particles in a Euclidean space. The particles bear `unbounded' spins with a given symmetric a priori distribution. The interaction between the particles is pairwise and splits into position-position and spin-spin parts. The position-position part is described by a superstable potential, and the spin-spin part is attractive and of finite range. Thermodynamic states of the system are defined as tempered Gibbs measures on the space of marked configurations. We derive sufficient conditions of the existence and uniqueness of these Gib…
We present general existence and uniqueness results for marked models with pair interactions, exemplified through Gibbs point processes on path space. More precisely, we study a class of infinite-dimensional diffusions under Gibbsian interactions, in the context of marked point configurations: the starting points belong to $\mathbb{R}^d$, and the marks are the paths of Langevin diffusions. We use the entropy method to prove existence of an infinite-volume Gibbs point process and use cluster expansion tools to provide an explicit activity domain in which uniqueness holds.
This paper generalizes a recent existence result for infinite-volume marked Gibbs point processes. We try to use the existence theorem for two models from stochastic geometry. First, we show the existence of Gibbs facet processes in $\mathbb{R}^d$ with repulsive interactions. We also prove that the finite-volume Gibbs facet processes with attractive interactions need not exist. Afterwards, we study Gibbs-Laguerre tessellations of $\mathbb{R}^2$. The mentioned existence result cannot be used, since one of its assumptions is not satisfied for tessellations, but we are able to show the existence …
In this paper, we prove the existence of infinite Gibbs Delaunay Potts tessellations for marked particle configurations. The particle systems has two types of interaction, a so-called \emph{background potential} ensures that small and large triangles are excluded in the Delaunay tessellation, and is similar to the so-called hardcore potential introduced in \cite{Der08}. Particles carry one of $q$ separate marks. Our main result is that for large activities and high \emph{type interaction} strength the model has at least $ q$ distinct translation-invariant Gibbs Delaunay Potts tessellations. Th…
Mathematical models in equilibrium statistical mechanics describe physical systems with many particles interacting with an external force and with one another. Gibbs measure is a fundamental concept in this theory. In existing literature infinite-volume models are constructed as limits of finite models and existence of Gibbs measure for them is proven through DLR formalism. The general existence proofs are quite complicated and involve topology and cluster expansion. In this paper we develop a more transparent and more constructive proof of existence of infinite Gibbs measure for a particular …
We present a simple algorithm that perfectly samples configurations from the unique Gibbs measure of a spin system on a potentially infinite graph $G$. The sampling algorithm assumes strong spatial mixing together with subexponential growth of $G$. It produces a finite window onto a perfect sample from the Gibbs distribution. The run-time is linear in the size of the window.
We study a model of spatial random permutations over a discrete set of points. Formally, a permutation $σ$ is sampled proportionally to the weight $\exp\{-α\sum_x V(σ(x)-x)\},$ where $α>0$ is the temperature and $V$ is a non-negative and continuous potential. The most relevant case for physics is when $V(x)=\|x\|^2$, since it is related to Bose-Einstein condensation through a representation introduced by Feynman in 1953. In the context of statistical mechanics, the weights define a probability when the set of points is finite, but the construction associated to an infinite set is not trivial a…
We complete the investigation of the Gibbs properties of the fuzzy Potts model on the d-dimensional torus with Kac interaction which was started by Jahnel and one of the authors. As our main result of the present paper, we extend the previous sharpness result of mean-field bounds to cover all possible cases of fuzzy transformations, allowing also for the occurrence of Ising classes. The closing of this previously left open Ising-gap involves an analytical argument showing uniqueness of minimizing profiles for certain non-homogeneous conditional variational problems.
We study the decimation to a sublattice of half the sites, of the one-dimensional Dyson-Ising ferromagnet with slowly decaying long-range pair interactions of the form $\frac{1}{{|i-j|}^α}$, in the phase transition region (1< $α\leq$ 2, and low temperature). We prove non-Gibbsianness of the decimated measure at low enough temperatures by exhibiting a point of essential discontinuity for the finite-volume conditional probabilities of decimated Gibbs measures. Thus result complements previous work proving conservation of Gibbsianness for fastly decaying potentials ($α$ > 2) and provides an examp…
