We study a Gibbs measure over Brownian motion with a pair potential which depends only on the increments. Assuming a particular form of this pair potential, we establish that in the infinite volume limit the Gibbs measure can be viewed as Brownian motion moving in a dynamic random environment. Thereby we are in a position to use the technique of Kipnis and Varadhan and to prove a functional central limit theorem.
We consider Gibbs measures relative to Brownian motion of Feynman-Kac type, with single site potential V. We show that for a large class of V, including the Coulomb potential, there exist infinitely many infinite volume Gibbs measures.
Motivated by applications to quantum field theory we consider Gibbs measures for which the reference measure is Wiener measure and the interaction is given by a double stochastic integral and a pinning external potential. In order properly to characterize these measures through DLR equations, we are led to lift Wiener measure and other objects to a space of configurations where the basic observables are not only the position of the particle at all times but also the work done by test vector fields. We prove existence and basic properties of such Gibbs measures in the small coupling regime by m…
We prove existence of infinite volume Gibbs measures relative to Brownian motion. We require the pair potential W to fulfill a uniform integrability condition, but otherwise our restrictions on the potentials are relatively weak. In particular, our results are applicable to the massless Nelson model. We also prove an upper bound for path fluctuations under the infinite volume Gibbs measures.
Consider N Brownian bridges B_i:[-N,N] -> R, B_i(-N) = B_i(N) = 0, 1 <= i <= N, conditioned not to intersect. The edge-scaling limit of this system is obtained by taking a limit as N -> infinity of these curves scaled around (0,2^{1/2} N) horizontally by a factor of N^{2/3} and vertically by N^{1/3}. If a parabola is added to each limit curve, an x-translation invariant process sometimes called the multi-line Airy process is obtained. We prove the existence of a version of this process (which we call the Airy line ensemble) in which curves are a.s. everywhere continuous and non-intersecting. T…
We give a new sufficient condition of the quasi-Gibbs property. This result is a refinement of one given in a previous paper (\cite{o.rm}), and will be used in a forth coming paper to prove the quasi-Gibbs property of Airy random point fields (RPFs) and other RPFs appearing under soft-edge scaling. The quasi-Gibbs property of RPFs is one of the key ingredients to solve the associated infinite-dimensional stochastic differential equation (ISDE). Because of the divergence of the free potentials and the interactions of the finite particle approximation under soft-edge scaling, the result of the p…
We consider a system of real-valued spins interacting with each other through a mean-field Hamiltonian that depends on the empirical magnetization of the spins via a general potential. The system is subjected to a stochastic dynamics where the spins perform independent Brownian motions. As in \cite{FedHoMa13}, which considers the Curie-Weiss model with Ising spins interacting via a quadratic potential and subjected to independent spins flips, we follow the program outlined in \cite{vEFedHoRe10}. We show that in the thermodynamic limit the system is non-Gibbs at time $t \in (0,\infty)$ if and o…
We are interested in the analysis of Gibbs measures defined on two independent Brownian paths in $\mathbb R^d$ interacting through a mutual self-attraction. This is expressed by the Hamiltonian $\int\int_{\mathbb R^{2d}} V(x-y) μ(d x)ν(d y)$ with two probability measures $μ$ and $ν$ representing the occupation measures of two independent Brownian motions. We will be interested in class of potentials $V$ which are {\it{singular}}, e.g., Dirac or Coulomb type interactions in $\mathbb R^3$, or the correlation function of the parabolic Anderson problem with white noise potential. The mutual intera…
Consider a branching random walk on the real line. Madaule showed the renormalized trajectory of an individual selected according to the critical Gibbs measure converges in law to a Brownian meander. Besides, Chen proved that the renormalized trajectory leading to the leftmost individual at time $n$ converges in law to a standard Brownian excursion. In this article, we prove that the renormalized trajectory of an individual selected according to a supercritical Gibbs measure also converges in law toward the Brownian excursion. Moreover, refinements of this results enables to express the probab…
Consider the supercritical branching random walk on the real line in the boundary case and the associated Gibbs measure $ν_{n,β}$ on the $n^\text{th}$ generation, which is also the polymer measure on a disordered tree with inverse temperature $β$. The convergence of the partition function $W_{n,β}$, after rescaling, towards a nontrivial limit has been proved by A\"ıdékon and Shi in the critical case $β= 1$ and by Madaule when $β>1$. We study here the near-critical case, where $β_n \to 1$, and prove the convergence of $W_{n,β_n}$, after rescaling, towards a constant multiple of the limit of the…
We study a stochastic perturbation of the Nosé-Hoover equation (called the Nosé-Hoover equation under Brownian heating) and show that the dynamics converges at a geometric rate to the augmented Gibbs measure in a weighted total variation distance. The joint marginal distribution of the position and momentum of the particles in turn converges exponentially fast in a similar sense to the canonical Boltzmann-Gibbs distribution. The result applies to a general number of particles interacting through wide class of potential functions, including the usual polynomial type as well as the singular Lenn…
Dobrushin and Tirozzi [14] showed that, for a Gibbs measure with the finite-range potential, the Local Central Limit Theorem is implied by the Integral Central Limit Theorem. Campanino, Capocaccia, and Tirozzi [7] extended this result for a family of Gibbs measures for long-range pair potentials satisfying certain conditions. We are able to show for a family of Gibbs measures for long-range pair potentials not satisfying the conditions given in [7], that at sufficiently high temperatures, if the Integral Central Limit Theorem holds for a given sequence of Gibbs measures, then the Local Central…
Special case of a Gibbsian facet process on a fixed window with a discrete orientation distribution and with increasing intensity of the underlying Poisson process is studied. All asymptotic moments for interaction U-statistics are calculated and using the method of moments the central limit theorem is derived.
We explore the geometric meaning of the so-called zeta-regularized determinant of the Laplace-Beltrami operator on a compact surface, with or without boundary. We relate the $(-c/2)$-th power of the determinant of the Laplacian to the appropriately regularized partition function of a Brownian loop soup of intensity $c$ on the surface. This means that, in a certain sense, decorating a random surface by a Brownian loop soup of intensity $c$ corresponds to weighting the law of the surface by the $(-c/2)$-th power of the determinant of the Laplacian. Next, we introduce a method of regularizing a L…
We prove that the grand canonical Gibbs state of an interacting quantum Bose gas converges to the Gibbs measure of a nonlinear Schrödinger equation in the mean-field limit, where the density of the gas becomes large and the interaction strength is proportional to the inverse density. Our results hold in dimensions $d \leq 3$. For $d > 1$ the Gibbs measure is supported on distributions of negative regularity and we have to renormalize the interaction. More precisely, we prove the convergence of the relative partition function and of the reduced density matrices in the $L^r$-norm with optimal ex…
We consider Canonical Gibbsian ensembles of Euler point vortices on the 2-dimensional torus or in a bounded domain of R 2 . We prove that under the Central Limit scaling of vortices intensities, and provided that the system has zero global space average in the bounded domain case (neutrality condition), the ensemble converges to the so-called Energy-Enstrophy Gaussian random distributions. This can be interpreted as describing Gaussian fluctuations around the mean field limit of vortices ensembles. The main argument consists in proving convergence of partition functions of vortices and Gaussia…
We investigate the construction of diffusions consisting of infinitely numerous Brownian particles moving in $\mathbb{R}^d$ and interacting via logarithmic functions (two-dimensional Coulomb potentials). These potentials are very strong and act over a long range in nature. The associated equilibrium states are no longer Gibbs measures. We present general results for the construction of such diffusions and, as applications thereof, construct two typical interacting Brownian motions with logarithmic interaction potentials, namely the Dyson model in infinite dimensions and Ginibre interacting Bro…
The problem of the description of finite factor representations of the infinite-dimensional unitary group, investigated by Voiculescu in 1976, is equivalent to the description of all totally positive Toeplitz matrices. Vershik-Kerov showed that this problem is also equivalent to the description of the simplex of central (i.e. possessing a certain Gibbs property) measures on paths in the Gelfand-Tsetlin graph. We study a quantum version of the latter problem. We introduce a notion of a q-centrality and describe the simplex of all q-central measures on paths in the Gelfand-Tsetlin graph. Conject…
We prove a central limit theorem for functionals of two independent $d$-dimensional fractional Brownian motions with the same Hurst index $H$ in $(\frac{2}{d+1},\frac{2}{d})$ using the method of moments.
We prove a central limit theorem for an additive functional of the $d$-dimensional fractional Brownian motion with Hurst index $H\in(\frac{1}{2+d},\frac{1}{d})$, using the method of moments, extending the result by Papanicolaou, Stroock and Varadhan in the case of the standard Brownian motion.
We use a Stochastic Differential Equation satisfied by Brownian motion taking values in the unit sphere $S_{n-1}subsetmathbb{R}^{n}$ and we obtain a Central Limit Theorem for a sequence of such Brownian motions. We also generalize the results to the case of the $n$-dimensional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes.
We propose in this work a fractional stochastic differential equation (FSDE) model consistent with the over-damped limit of the generalized Langevin equation model. As a result of the `fluctuation-dissipation theorem', the differential equations driven by fractional Brownian noise to model memory effects should be paired with Caputo derivatives, and this FSDE model should be understood in an integral form. We establish the existence of strong solutions for such equations and discuss the ergodicity and convergence to Gibbs measure. In the linear forcing regime, we show rigorously the algebraic …
The purpose of this note is to prove a central limit theorem for the $L^3$-modulus of continuity of the Brownian local time using techniques of stochastic analysis. The main ingredients of the proof are an asymptotic version of Knight's theorem and the Clark-Ocone formula for the $L^3$-modulus of the Brownian local time.
In this paper, we prove some central and non-central limit theorems for renormalized weighted power variations of order q>=2 of the fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter H in (0,1), where q is an integer. The central limit holds for 1/(2q)<H<= 1-1/(2q), the limit being a conditionally Gaussian distribution. If H<1/(2q), we show the convergence in L^2 to a limit which only depends on the fractional Brownian motion, and if H> 1-1/(2q), we show the convergence in L^2 to a stochastic integral with respect to the Hermite process of order q.
We study the overlap distribution of two particles chosen under the Gibbs measure at two temperatures for the branching Brownian motion. We first prove the convergence of the overlap distribution using the extended convergence of the extremal process obtained by Bovier and Hartung. We then prove that the mean overlap of two points chosen at different temperatures is strictly smaller than in Derrida's random energy model. The proof of this last result is achieved with the description of the decoration point process obtained by Aïdékon, Berestycki, Brunet and Shi. To our knowledge, it is the fir…
The purpose of this note is to prove a central limit theorem for the $L^2$-modulus of continuity of the Brownian local time obtained in \cite{CLMR}, using techniques of stochastic analysis. The main ingredients of the proof are an asymptotic version of Knight's theorem and the Clark-Ocone formula for the $L^2$-modulus of the Brownian local time.
It is shown how the central limit theorem for U-statistics of spatial Poisson point processes can help to derive the central limit theorem for U-statistics of a Gibbs facet process from stochastic geometry. A full-dimensional submodel enables a simpler approach to the investigation. Finally the general situation is studied and the asymptotics with increasing intensity is described.
We prove the central limit theorem of random variables induced by distances to Brownian paths and Green functions on the universal cover of Riemannian manifolds of finite volume with pinched negative curvature. We further provide some ergodic properties of Brownian motions and an application of the central limit theorem to the dynamics of geodesic flows in pinched negative curvature.
We prove a central limit theorem for an additive functional of the $d$-dimensional fractional Brownian motion with Hurst index $H\in(\frac{1}{1+d},\frac{1}{d})$, using the method of moments, extending the result by Papanicolaou, Stroock and Varadhan in the case of the standard Brownian motion.
We obtain some approximation results for the weights appearing in the exchangeable partition probability function identifying Gibbs partition models of parameter $α\in (0,1)$, as introduced in Gnedin and Pitman (2006). We rely on approximation results for central and non-central generalized Stirling numbers and on known results for conditional and unconditional $α$ diversity. We provide an application to an approximate Bayesian nonparametric estimation of discovery probability in species sampling problems under normalized inverse Gaussian priors.
We consider Gibbs measures on the configuration space $S^{\mathbb{Z}^d}$, where mostly $d\geq 2$ and $S$ is a finite set. We start by a short review on concentration inequalities for Gibbs measures. In the Dobrushin uniqueness regime, we have a Gaussian concentration bound, whereas in the Ising model (and related models) at sufficiently low temperature, we control all moments and have a stretched-exponential concentration bound. We then give several applications of these inequalities whereby we obtain various new results. Amongst these applications, we get bounds on the speed of convergence of…
We rigorously derive non-equilibrium space-time fluctuation for the particle density of a system of reflected diffusions in bounded Lipschitz domains in $\mathbb R^d$. The particles are independent and are killed by a time-dependent potential which is asymptotically proportional to the boundary local time. We generalize the functional analytic framework introduced by Kotelenez [19, 20] to deal with time-dependent perturbations. Our proof relies on Dirichlet form method rather than the machineries derived from Kotelenez's sub-martingale inequality. Our result holds for any symmetric reflected d…
This article presents a weak law of large numbers and a central limit theorem for the scaled realised covariation of a bivariate Brownian semistationary process. The novelty of our results lies in the fact that we derive the suitable asymptotic theory both in a multivariate setting and outside the classical semimartingale framework. The proofs rely heavily on recent developments in Malliavin calculus.
In this paper, we are concerned with the large N limit of linear combinations of the entries of a Brownian motion on the group of N by N unitary matrices. We prove that the process of such a linear combination converges to a Gaussian one. Various scales of time and various initial distribution are concerned, giving rise to various limit processes, related to the geometric construction of the unitary Brownian motion. As an application, we propose a quite short proof of the asymptotic Gaussian feature of the linear combinations of the entries of Haar distributed random unitary matrices, a result…
Let $B=(B^{(1)},B^{(2)})$ be a two-dimensional fractional Brownian motion with Hurst index $α\in (0,1/4)$. Using an analytic approximation $B(η)$ of $B$ introduced in \cite{Unt08}, we prove that the rescaled Lévy area process $(s,t)\to η^{\half(1-4α)}\int_s^t dB_{t_1}^{(1)}(η) \int_s^{t_1} dB_{t_2}^{(2)}(η)$ converges in law to $W_t-W_s$ where $W$ is a Brownian motion independent from $B$. The method relies on a very general scheme of analysis of singularities of analytic functions, applied to the moments of finite-dimensional distributions of the Lévy area.
We prove central and non-central limit theorems for the Hermite variations of the anisotropic fractional Brownian sheet $W^{α, β}$ with Hurst parameter $(α, β) \in (0,1)^2$. When $0<α\leq 1-\frac{1}{2q}$ or $0<β\leq 1-\frac{1}{2q}$ a central limit theorem holds for the renormalized Hermite variations of order $q\geq 2$, while for $1-\frac{1}{2q}<α, β< 1$ we prove that these variations satisfy a non-central limit theorem. In fact, they converge to a random variable which is the value of a two-parameter Hermite process at time $(1,1)$.

In this paper we introduce the \textit{multivariate} Brownian semistationary (BSS) processes and study the joint asymptotic behaviour of its realised covariation using in-fill asymptotics. First, we present a central limit theorem for general stationary multivariate Gaussian processes, which are not necessarily semimartingales. Then, we show weak laws of large numbers, central limit theorems and feasible results for BSS processes. An explicit example based on the so-called gamma kernels is also provided.
We study asymptotic normality of the randomized periodogram estimator of quadratic variation in the mixed Brownian--fractional Brownian model. In the semimartingale case, that is, where the Hurst parameter $H$ of the fractional part satisfies $H\in(3/4,1)$, the central limit theorem holds. In the nonsemimartingale case, that is, where $H\in(1/2,3/4]$, the convergence toward the normal distribution with a nonzero mean still holds if $H=3/4$, whereas for the other values, that is, $H\in(1/2,3/4)$, the central convergence does not take place. We also provide Berry--Esseen estimates for the estima…
We prove functional central and non-central limit theorems for generalized variations of the anisotropic $d$-parameter fractional Brownian sheet (fBs) for any natural number $d$. Whether the central or the non-central limit theorem applies depends on the Hermite rank of the variation functional and on the smallest component of the Hurst parameter vector of the fBs. The limiting process in the former result is another fBs, independent of the original fBs, whereas the limit given by the latter result is an Hermite sheet, which is driven by the same white noise as the original fBs. As an applicat…
The standard functional central limit theorem for a renewal process with finite mean and variance, results in a Brownian motion limit. This note shows how to obtain a Brownian bridge process by a direct procedure that does not involve conditioning. Several examples are also considered.
G-Brownian motion has a very rich and interesting new structure which nontrivially generalizes the classical one. Its quadratic variation process is also a continuous process with independent and stationary increments. We prove a self-normalized functional central limit theorem for independent and identically distributed random variables under the sub-linear expectation with the limit process being a G-Browian motion self-normalized by its quadratic variation. To prove the self-normalized central limit theorem, we also establish a new Donsker's invariance principle.
A quenched central limit theorem is derived for the super-Brownian motion with super-Brownian immigration, in dimension $d\geq 4$. At the critical dimension $d=4$, the quenched and annealed fluctuations are of the same order but are not equal.
We determine the possible scaling limits in the quantum central limit theorem with respect to the Gibbs state, for a growing distance-regular graph that has so-called classical parameters with base unequal to one. We also describe explicitly the corresponding weak limits of the normalized spectral distribution of the adjacency matrix. We demonstrate our results with the known infinite families of distance-regular graphs having classical parameters and with unbounded diameter.
We prove a non-central limit theorem for the symmetric weighted odd-power variations of the fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter H< 1/2. As applications, we study the asymptotic behavior of the trapezoidal weighted odd-power variations of the fractional Brownian motion and the fractional Brownian motion in Brownian time Z_t:= X_{Y_t}, t >= 0, where X is a fractional Brownian motion and Y is an independent Brownian motion.
We consider a class of Gibbs measures defined with respect to increments $\{ω(t)-ω(s)\}_{s<t}$ of $d$-dimensional Wiener measure, with the underlying Hamiltonian carrying interactions of the form $H(t-s,ω(t)-ω(s))$ that are invariant under uniform translations of paths. In such interactions we allow {\it{long-range}} dependence in the time variable (including power law decay up to $t\mapsto (1+t)^{-(2+\varepsilon)}$ for $\varepsilon>0$) and unbounded (singular) interactions (including singularities of the form $x\mapsto 1/|x|^p$ in $d\geq 3$ or $x\mapsto δ_0(x)$ in $d=1$) attached to the space…
In this paper we state and prove a central limit theorem for the finite-dimensional laws of the quadratic variations process of certain fractional Brownian sheets. The main tool of this article is a method developed by Nourdin and Nualart based on the Malliavin calculus.
