We compute the one-loop scalar massless pentagon integral I_5^{6-2 eps} in D=6-2\eps dimensions in the limit of multi-Regge kinematics. This integral first contributes to the parity-odd part of the one-loop N=4 five-point MHV amplitude m_5^{(1)} at O(eps). In the high energy limit defined, the pentagon integral reduces to double sums or equivalently two-fold Mellin-Barnes integrals. By determining the O(eps) contribution to I_5^{6-2 eps}, one therefore gains knowledge of m_5^{(1)} through to O(eps^2) which is necessary for studies of the iterative structure of N=4 SYM amplitudes beyond one-loop. One immediate application is the extraction of the one-loop gluon-production vertex through to O(eps^2) and the iterative construction of the two-loop gluon-production vertex through to finite terms which is described in a companion paper. The analytic methods we have used for evaluating the pentagon integral in the high energy limit may also be applied to the hexagon integral and may ultimately give information on the form of the remainder function.
We address the near-collinear expansion of multiparticle NMHV amplitudes, namely, the heptagon and octagons in the dual language of null polygonal super Wilson loops. In particular, we verify multiparticle factorization of charged pentagon transitions in terms of pentagons for single flux-tube excitations within the framework of refined operator product expansion. We find a perfect agreement with available tree and one-loop data.
We compute the two-loop result for the null pentagonal Wilson loop with a Lagrangian insertion (normalized by the Wilson loop without insertion) in planar, maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. This finite observable is closely related to the Amplituhedron, and it is reminiscent of finite parts of planar two-loop five-particle scattering amplitudes. We verify that, up to this loop order, the leading singularities are given by the same conformally invariant expressions that appear in all-plus pure Yang-Mills amplitudes. The accompanying weight-four transcendental functions are expressed i…
We present the technique for resummation of flux tube excitations series arising in pentagon operator expansion program for polygonal Wilson loops in N=4 SYM. Here we restrict ourselves with contributions of one-particle effective states and consider as a particular example NMHV 6 particle amplitude at one-loop. The presented technique is also applicable at higher loops for one effective particle contributions and has the potential for generalization for contributions with more effective particles.
We analyze the near-collinear limit of the null polygonal hexagon super Wilson loop in the planar N = 4 superYang-Mills theory. We focus on its Grassmann components which are dual to next-to-maximal helicity-violating (NMHV) scattering amplitudes. The kinematics in question is studied within a framework of the operator product expansion that encodes propagation of excitations on the background of the color flux tube stretched between the sides of Wilson loop contour. While their dispersion relation is known to all orders in 't Hooft coupling from previous studies, we find their form factor cou…
We apply differential equations technique to the calculation of the one-loop massless diagram with one offshell legs. Using reduction to $ε$-form, we managed to obtain a simple one-fold integral representation exact in space-time dimensionality. Expansion of the obtained result in $ε$ and analytical continuation to physical region are discussed.
Loop amplitudes for massless five particle scattering processes contain Feynman integrals depending on the external momentum invariants: pentagon functions. We perform a detailed study of the analyticity properties and cut structure of these functions up to two loops in the planar case, where we classify and identify the minimal set of basis functions. They are computed from the canonical form of their differential equations and expressed in terms of generalized polylogarithms, or alternatively as one-dimensional integrals. We present analytical expressions and numerical evaluation routines fo…
We complete the analytic calculation of the full set of two-loop Feynman integrals required for computation of massless five-particle scattering amplitudes. We employ the method of canonical differential equations to construct a minimal basis set of transcendental functions, pentagon functions, which is sufficient to express all planar and nonplanar massless five-point two-loop Feynman integrals in the whole physical phase space. We find analytic expressions for pentagon functions which are manifestly free of unphysical branch cuts. We present a public library for numerical evaluation of penta…
We initiate the systematic study of \emph{local positive spaces} which arise in the context of the Amplituhedron construction for scattering amplitudes in planar maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. We show that all local positive spaces relevant for one-loop MHV amplitudes are characterized by certain sign-flip conditions and are associated with surprisingly simple logarithmic forms. In the maximal sign-flip case they are finite one-loop octagons. Particular combinations of sign-flip spaces can be glued into new local positive geometries. These correspond to local pentagon integrands t…
We present analytic results for all planar two-loop Feynman integrals contributing to five-particle scattering amplitudes with one external massive leg. We express the integrals in terms of a basis of algebraically-independent transcendental functions, which we call one-mass pentagon functions. We construct them by using the properties of iterated integrals with logarithmic kernels. The pentagon functions are manifestly free of unphysical branch cuts, do not require analytic continuation, and can be readily evaluated over the whole physical phase space of the massive particle production channe…
We study the so-called Descent, or Q-bar, Equation for the null polygonal supersymmetric Wilson loop in the framework of the pentagon operator product expansion. To properly address this problem, one requires to restore the cyclicity of the loop broken by the choice of OPE channels. In the course of the study, we unravel a phenomenon of twist enhancement when passing to a cyclically shifted channel. Currently, we focus on the consistency of the all-order Descent equation for the particular case relating the NMHV heptagon to MHV hexagon. We find that the equation establishes a relation between …
We study Feynman integrals and scattering amplitudes in ${\cal N}=4$ super-Yang-Mills by exploiting the duality with null polygonal Wilson loops. Certain Feynman integrals, including one-loop and two-loop chiral pentagons, are given by Feynman diagrams of a supersymmetric Wilson loop, where one can perform loop integrations and be left with simple integrals along edges. As the main application, we compute analytically for the first time, the symbol of the generic ($n\geq 12$) double pentagon, which gives two-loop MHV amplitudes and components of NMHV amplitudes to all multiplicities. We repres…
The Pentagon Operator Product Expansion represents polygonal Wilson loops in planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang-Mills in terms of a series of flux tube excitations for finite coupling. We demonstrate how to re-sum this series at the one loop level for the hexagonal Wilson loop dual to the six-point MHV amplitude. By summing over a series of effective excitations we find expressions which integrate to logarithms and polylogarithms, reproducing the known one-loop result.
We apply the Landau equations, whose solutions parameterize the locus of possible branch points, to the one- and two-loop Feynman integrals relevant to MHV amplitudes in planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ super-Yang-Mills theory. We then identify which of the Landau singularities appear in the symbols of the amplitudes, and which do not. We observe that all of the symbol entries in the two-loop MHV amplitudes are already present as Landau singularities of one-loop pentagon integrals.
Pentagon Operator Product Expansion provides a non-perturbative framework for analysis of scattering amplitudes in planar maximally supersymmetric gauge theory building up on their duality to null polygonal super Wilson loop and integrability. In this paper, we construct a systematic expansion for the main ingredients of the formalism, i.e., pentagons, at large 't Hooft coupling as a power series in its inverse value. The calculations are tested against relations provided by the so-called Descent Equation which mixes transitions at different perturbative orders. We use leading order results to…
Unitarity cut method has been proved to be very useful in the computation of one-loop integrals. In this paper, we generalize the method to the situation where the powers of propagators in the denominator are larger than one in general. We show how to use the trick of differentiation over masses to translate the problem to the integrals where all powers are just one. Then by using the unitarity cut method, we can find the wanted reduction coefficients of all basis except the tadpole. Using this method, we calculate the reduction of scalar bubble, scalar triangle, scalar box and scalar pentagon…
We study the first non-planar correction to gluon scattering amplitudes in ${\cal N}=4$ SYM theory. The correction takes the form of a double trace partial amplitude and is suppressed by one power of $1/N$ with respect to the leading single trace contribution. We extend the duality between planar scattering amplitudes and null polygonal Wilson loops to the double trace amplitude. The new duality relates the amplitude to the correlation function of two infinite null polygonal Wilson lines that are subject to a quantum periodicity constraint. We test the duality perturbatively at one-loop order …
We study the symbology of planar Feynman integrals in dimensional regularization by considering geometric configurations in momentum twistor space corresponding to their leading singularities (LS). Cutting propagators in momentum twistor space amounts to intersecting lines associated with loop and external dual momenta, including the special line associated with the point at infinity, which breaks dual conformal symmetry. We show that cross-ratios of intersection points on these lines, especially those on the infinity line, naturally produce symbol letters for Feynman integrals in $D=4-2ε$, wh…
We present a compact analytic expression for the leading colour two-loop five-gluon amplitude in Yang-Mills theory with a single negative helicity and four positive helicities. The analytic result is reconstructed from numerical evaluations over finite fields. The numerical method combines integrand reduction, integration-by-parts identities and Laurent expansion into a basis of pentagon functions to compute the coefficients directly from six-dimensional generalised unitarity cuts.
Recently there is an alternative reduction method proposed by Chen in [1,2]. In this paper, using the one-loop scalar integrals with propagators having higher power, we show the power of the improved version of Chen's new method in which we used some tricks to cancel the dimension shift and the terms we do not want. We present the explicit examples of bubble, triangle, box and pentagon with one propagators doubled. With these results, we have completed our previous computations in \cite{wang} with the missed tadpole coefficients.
In previous work, the two-loop five-point amplitudes in $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang-Mills theory and $\mathcal{N}=8$ supergravity were computed at symbol level. In this paper, we compute the full functional form. The amplitudes are assembled and simplified using the analytic expressions of the two-loop pentagon integrals in the physical scattering region. We provide the explicit functional expressions, and a numerical reference point in the scattering region. We then calculate the multi-Regge limit of both amplitudes. The result is written in terms of an explicit transcendental function basis. …
We present a loop-by-loop method for computing the differential equations of Feynman integrals using the recently developed dual form formalism. We give explicit prescriptions for the loop-by-loop fibration of multi-loop dual forms. Then, we test our formalism on a simple, but non-trivial, example: the two-loop three-mass elliptic sunrise family of integrals. We obtain an epsilon-form differential equation within the correct function space in a sequence of relatively simple algebraic steps. In particular, none of these steps relies on the analysis of $q$-series. Then, we discuss interesting pr…
We present the analytic form of the two-loop five-gluon scattering amplitudes in QCD for a complete set of independent helicity configurations of external gluons. These include the first analytic results for five-point two-loop amplitudes relevant for the computation of next-to-next-to-leading-order QCD corrections at hadron colliders. The results were obtained by reconstructing analytic expressions from numerical evaluations. The complexity of the computation is reduced by exploiting physical and analytical properties of the amplitudes, employing a minimal basis of so-called pentagon function…
