Let ${\mathcal X}$ be a doubling metric measure space. If ${\mathcal X}$ has the $δ$-annular decay property for some $δ\in (0,\,1]$, the authors then establish the boundedness of the Lusin-area function, which is defined via kernels modeled on the semigroup generated by the Schrödinger operator, from localized spaces ${\rm BMO}_ρ({\mathcal X})$ to ${\rm BLO}_ρ({\mathcal X})$ without invoking any regularity of considered kernels. The same is true for the $g^\ast_\labda$ function and unlike the Lusin-area function, in this case, ${\mathcal X}$ is not necessary to have the $δ$-annular decay property. Moreover, for any metric space, the authors introduce the weak geodesic property and the monotone geodesic property, which are proved to be respectively equivalent to the chain ball property of Buckley. Recall that Buckley proved that any length space has the chain ball property and, for any metric space equipped with a doubling measure, the chain ball property implies the $δ$-annular decay property for some $δ\in (0,1]$. Moreover, using some results on pointwise multipliers of ${\rm bmo}({\mathbb R})$, the authors construct a counterexample to show that there exists a nonnegative function which is in ${\rm bmo}({\mathbb R})$, but not in ${\rm blo}({\mathbb R})$; this further indicates that the above boundedness of the Lusin-area and $g^\ast_λ$ functions even in ${\mathbb R}^d$ with the Lebesgue measure or the Heisenberg group also improves the existing results.
Lusin Area Function and Molecular Characterizations of Musielak-Orlicz Hardy Spaces and Their ApplicationsLet $φ: \mathbb R^n\times [0,\infty)\to[0,\infty)$ be a growth function such that $φ(x,\cdot)$ is nondecreasing, $φ(x,0)=0$, $φ(x,t)>0$ when $t>0$, $\lim_{t\to\infty}φ(x,t)=\infty$, and $φ(\cdot,t)$ is a Muckenhoupt $A_\infty(\mathbb{R}^n)$ weight uniformly in $t$. In this paper, the authors establish the Lusin area function and the molecular characterizations of the Musielak-Orlicz Hardy space $H_φ(\mathbb{R}^n)$ introduced by Luong Dang Ky via the grand maximal function. As an applicatio…
Given a Radon measure $μ$ on $R^d$, which may be non doubling, we introduce a space of type BMO with respect to this measure. It is shown that many properties that hold when $μ$ is doubling remain valid for the space BMO introduced in this paper, without assuming $μ$ doubling. For instance, Calderon-Zygmund operators which are bounded in $L^2$ are bounded from $L^\infty$ into the new BMO space. Moreover, a John-Nirenberg inequality is satisfied, and the predual of BMO is an atomic space $H^1$. Using a sharp maximal function it is proved that operators bounded from $L^\infty$ into BMO and from …
Let ${\mathcal X}$ be a metric space with doubling measure, $L$ a nonnegative self-adjoint operator in $L^2({\mathcal X})$ satisfying the Davies-Gaffney estimate, $ω$ a concave function on $(0,\infty)$ of strictly lower type $p_ω\in (0, 1]$ and $ρ(t)={t^{-1}}/ω^{-1}(t^{-1})$ for all $t\in (0,\infty).$ The authors introduce the Orlicz-Hardy space $H_{ω,L}({\mathcal X})$ via the Lusin area function associated to the heat semigroup, and the BMO-type space ${\mathop\mathrm{BMO}_{ρ,L}(\mathcal X)}$. The authors then establish the duality between $H_{ω,L}({\mathcal X})$ and $\mathrm{BMO}_{ρ,L}({\mat…
Let $\mathcal{X}$ be a metric space with doubling measure and $L$ a nonnegative self-adjoint operator in $L^2(\mathcal{X})$ satisfying the Davies-Gaffney estimates. Let $φ:\,\mathcal{X}\times[0,\infty)\to[0,\infty)$ be a function such that $φ(x,\cdot)$ is an Orlicz function, $φ(\cdot,t)\in A_{\infty}(\mathcal{X})$ (the class of Muckenhoupt weights) and its uniformly critical lower type index $i(φ)\in(0,1]$. In this paper, the authors introduce a Musielak-Orlicz Hardy space $H_{φ,\,L}(\mathcal{X})$ by the Lusin area function associated with the heat semigroup generated by $L$, and a Musielak-Or…
A theorem of Lusin states that every Borel function on $R$ is equal almost everywhere to the derivative of a continuous function. This result was later generalized to $R^n$ in works of Alberti and Moonens-Pfeffer. In this note, we prove direct analogs of these results on a large class of metric measure spaces, those with doubling measures and Poincaré inequalities, which admit a form of differentiation by a famous theorem of Cheeger.
Consider a non-doubling manifold with ends $M = \mathfrak{R}^{n}\sharp\, {\mathbb R}^{m}$ where $\mathfrak{R}^n=\mathbb{R}^n\times \mathbb{S}^{m-n}$ for $m> n \ge 3$. We say that an operator $L$ has a generalised Poisson kernel if $\sqrt{ L}$ generates a semigroup $e^{-t\sqrt{L}}$ whose kernel $p_t(x,y)$ has an upper bound similar to the kernel of $e^{-t\sqrtΔ}$ where $Δ$ is the Laplace-Beltrami operator on $M$. An example for operators with generalised Gaussian bounds is the Schrödinger operator $L = Δ+ V$ where $V$ is an arbitrary non-negative locally integrable potential. In this paper, our…
We give an extension to certain \textit{RD-space} $\X$, i.e space of homogeneous type in the sense of Coifman and Weiss, which has the reverse doubling property, of the definition and various properties of the product of functions in $\BMO(\X)$ and $\H^{1}(\X)$, and functions in Lipschitz space $Λ_{\frac{1}{p}-1}(\X)$ and $\H^{p}(\X)$ for $p\in(\frac{\n}{\n+θ},1]$, where $\n$ and $θ$ denote respectively the "dimension" and the order of $\X$
The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the behaviour of fractional integral operators associated to a measure on a metric space satisfying just a mild growth condition, namely that the measure of each ball is controlled by a fixed power of its radius. This allows, in particular, non--doubling measures. It turns out that this condition is enough to build up a theory that contains the classical results based upon the Lebesgue measure on euclidean space and their known extensions for doubling measures. We start by analyzing the images of the Lebesgue spaces associated to the measure. Th…
Under the assumption that the underlying measure is a non-negative Radon measure which only satisfies some growth condition and may not be doubling, we define the product of functions in the regular $BMO$ and the atomic block $\H^{1}$ in the sense of distribution, and show that this product may be split into two parts, one in $L^{1}$ and the other in some Hardy-Orlicz space.
This paper studies functions of bounded mean oscillation (BMO) on metric spaces equipped with a doubling measure. The main result gives characterizations for mappings that preserve BMO. This extends the corresponding Euclidean results by Gotoh to metric measure spaces. The argument is based on a generalizations Uchiyama's construction of certain extremal BMO-functions and John-Nirenberg's lemma.
We study minimal integrability conditions via Luxemburg-type expressions with respect to generalized oscillations that imply the membership of a given function $f$ to the space BMO. Our method is simple, sharp and flexible enough to be adapted to several different settings, like spaces of homogeneous type, non doubling measures on $\mathbb{R}^n$ and also BMO spaces defined over more general bases than the basis of cubes.
Let $Γ$ be a graph with the doubling property for the volume of balls and $P$ a reversible random walk on $Γ$. We introduce $H^1$ Hardy spaces of functions and $1$-forms adapted to $P$ and prove various characterizations of these spaces. We also characterize the dual space of $H^1$ as a $BMO$-type space adapted to $P$. As an application, we establish $H^1$-$H^1$ and $H^1$-$L^1$ boundedness of the Riesz transform.
We prove that the intrinsic square functions including Lusin area integral and Littlewood-Paley $g^{\ast}_λ$-function as defined by Wilson, are bounded in a class of function spaces include weighted Morrey spaces. The corresponding commutators generated by $BMO$ functions are also considered.
Let $\mathcal X$ be an RD-space, which means that $\mathcal X$ is a space of homogeneous type in the sense of Coifman-Weiss with the additional property that a reverse doubling property holds in $\mathcal X$. The aim of the present paper is to study the product of functions in $BMO$ and $H^1$ in this setting. Our results generalize some recent results in \cite{Feu} and \cite{LP}.
In this paper, we will study the boundedness properties of intrinsic square functions including the Lusin area integral, Littlewood-Paley $g$-function and $g^*_λ$-function on the weighted Morrey spaces $L^{p,κ}(w)$ for $1<p<\infty$ and $0<κ<1$. The corresponding commutators generated by $BMO(\mathbb R^n)$ functions and intrinsic square functions are also discussed.
In this paper, we will study the strong type and weak type estimates of intrinsic square functions including the Lusin area integral, Littlewood-Paley $g$-function and $g^*_λ$-function on the generalized Morrey spaces $L^{p,Φ}$ for $1\le p<\infty$, where $Φ$ is a growth function on $(0,\infty)$ satisfying the doubling condition. The boundedness of the commutators generated by $BMO(\mathbb R^n)$ functions and intrinsic square functions is also obtained.
An RD-space ${\mathcal X}$ is a space of homogeneous type in the sense of Coifman and Weiss with the additional property that a reverse doubling condition holds in ${\mathcal X}$. Let $ρ$ be an admissible function on RD-space ${\mathcal X}$. The authors first introduce the localized spaces $\mathrm{BMO}_ρ({\mathcal X})$ and $\mathrm{BLO}_ρ({\mathcal X})$ and establish their basic properties, including the John-Nirenberg inequality for $\mathrm{BMO}_ρ({\mathcal X})$, several equivalent characterizations for $\mathrm{BLO}_ρ({\mathcal X})$, and some relations between these spaces. Then the author…
In this paper, local Tb theorems are studied both in the doubling and non-doubling situation. We prove a local Tb theorem for the class of upper doubling measures. With such general measures, scale invariant testing conditions are required (L^{\infty} or BMO). In the case of doubling measures, we also modify the general non-homogeneous method of proof to yield a new proof of the local Tb theorem with L^2 type testing conditions.

In this paper, we establish sufficient conditions for a singular integral $T$ to be bounded from certain Hardy spaces $H^p_L$ to Lebesgue spaces $L^p$, $0< p \le 1$, and for the commutator of $T$ and a BMO function to be weak-type bounded on Hardy space $H_L^1$. We then show that our sufficient conditions are applicable to the following cases: (i) $T$ is the Riesz transform or a square function associated with the Laplace-Beltrami operator on a doubling Riemannian manifold, (ii) $T$ is the Riesz transform associated with the magnetic Schrödinger operator on an Euclidean space, and (iii) $T = g…
Let $(X,d,μ)$ be a metric measure space satisfying a $Q$-doubling condition, $Q>1$, and an $L^2$-Poincaré inequality. Let $\mathscr{L}=\mathcal{L}+V$ be a Schrödinger operator on $X$, where $\mathcal{L}$ is a non-negative operator generalized by a Dirichlet form, and $V$ is a non-negative Muckenhoupt weight that satisfies a reverse Hölder condition $RH_q$ for some $q\ge (Q+1)/2$. We show that a solution to $(\mathscr{L}-\partial_t^2)u=0$ on $X\times \mathbb{R}_+$ satisfies the Carleson condition, $$\sup_{B(x_B,r_B)}\frac{1}{μ(B(x_B,r_B))} \int_{0}^{r_B} \int_{B(x_B,r_B)} |t\nabla u(x,t)|^2 \fr…
Let $(M,ρ,μ)$ be a metric measure space satisfying the doubling, reverse doubling and non-collapsing conditions, and $\mathscr{L}$ be a self-adjoint operator on $L^2 (M, dμ)$ whose heat kernel $p_t (x,y)$ satisfy the small-time Gaussian upper bound, Hölder continuity and Markov property. In this paper, we give characterizations of inhomogeneous "classical" and "non-classical" Besov and Triebel-Lizorkin spaces associated to $\mathscr{L}$ in terms of continuous Littlewood-Paley and Lusin area functions defined by the heat semigroup, for complete range of indices. This extends related classical r…
Let $μ$ be a Radon measure on $R^d$, which may be non doubling. The only condition that $μ$ must satisfy is $μ(B(x,r))\leq C r^n$, for all $x,r$ and for some fixed $0<n\leq d$. Recently we introduced spaces of type $BMO(μ)$ and $H^1(μ)$ which proved to be useful to study the $L^p(μ)$ boundedness of Calderón-Zygmund operators without assuming doubling conditions. In this paper a characterization of the new atomic space $H^1(μ)$ in terms of a grand maximal operator $M_Φ$ is given. It is shown that $f$ belongs to $H^1(μ)$ iff $f\in L^1(μ)$, $\int f dμ=0$ and $M_Φ(f)\in L^1(μ)$, as in the usual do…
Let $L$ be the divergence form elliptic operator with complex bounded measurable coefficients, $ω$ the positive concave function on $(0,\infty)$ of strictly critical lower type $p_\oz\in (0, 1]$ and $ρ(t)={t^{-1}}/ω^{-1}(t^{-1})$ for $t\in (0,\infty).$ In this paper, the authors study the Orlicz-Hardy space $H_{ω,L}({\mathbb R}^n)$ and its dual space $\mathrm{BMO}_{ρ,L^\ast}({\mathbb R}^n)$, where $L^\ast$ denotes the adjoint operator of $L$ in $L^2({\mathbb R}^n)$. Several characterizations of $H_{ω,L}({\mathbb R}^n)$, including the molecular characterization, the Lusin-area function characte…
Let $φ: {\mathbb R^n}\times [0,\infty)\to[0,\infty)$ be such that $\vz(x,\cdot)$ is nondecreasing, $φ(x,0)=0$, $φ(x,t)>0$ when $t>0$, $\lim_{t\to\infty}φ(x,t)=\infty$ and $\vz(\cdot,t)$ is a Muckenhoupt $A_\infty({\mathbb R^n})$ weight uniformly in $t$. Let $ϕ: [0,\infty)\to[0,\infty)$ be nondecreasing. In this article, the authors introduce the Musielak-Orlicz Morrey space $\mathcal M^{φ,ϕ}(\mathbb R^n)$ and obtain the boundedness on $\mathcal M^{φ,ϕ}(\mathbb R^n)$ of the intrinsic Lusin area function $S_α$, the intrinsic $g$-function $g_α$, the intrinsic $g_λ^*$-function $g^\ast_{λ, α}$ and …
Let $({\mathcal X},\,d,\,μ)$ be a metric measure space satisfying the upper doubling condition and the geometrically doubling condition in the sense of T. Hytönen. In this paper, the authors prove that the $L^p(μ)$ boundedness with $p\in(1,\,\infty)$ of the Marcinkiewicz integral is equivalent to either of its boundedness from $L^1(μ)$ into $L^{1,\infty}(μ)$ or from the atomic Hardy space $H^1(μ)$ into $L^1(μ)$. Moreover, the authors show that, if the Marcinkiewicz integral is bounded from $H^1(μ)$ into $L^1(μ)$, then it is also bounded from $L^\infty(μ)$ into the space ${\mathop\mathrm{RBLO}}…
In this paper, the boundedness properties of commutators generated by $b$ and intrinsic square functions in the endpoint case are discussed, where $b\in BMO(\mathbb R^n)$. We first establish the weighted weak $L\log L$-type estimates for these commutator operators. Furthermore, we will prove endpoint estimates of commutators generated by $BMO(\mathbb R^n)$functions and intrinsic square functions in the weighted Morrey spaces $L^{1,κ}(w)$ for $0<κ<1$ and $w\in A_1$, and in the generalized Morrey spaces $L^{1,Θ}$, where $Θ$ is a growth function on $(0,+\infty)$ satisfying the doubling condition.
Let $(\mathcal{X},d,μ)$ be a metric measure space satisfying the so-called upper doubling condition and the geometrically doubling condition. Let $T$ be a Calderón-Zygmund operator with kernel satisfying only the size condition and some Hörmander-type condition, and $b\in\rm{\widetilde{RBMO}(μ)}$ (the regularized BMO space with the discrete coefficient). In this paper, the authors establish the boundedness of the commutator $T_b:=bT-Tb$ generated by $T$ and $b$ from the atomic Hardy space $\widetilde{H}^1(μ)$ with the discrete coefficient into the weak Lebesgue space $L^{1,\,\infty}(μ)$. The b…
Hardy Spaces Associated with Non-Negative Self-Adjoint Operators and Ball Quasi-Banach Function Spaces on Doubling Metric Measure Spaces and Their Applications
Let $f:=(f_n)_{n\in \mathbb{Z}_+}$ and $g:=(g_n)_{n\in \mathbb{Z}_+}$ be two martingales related to the probability space $(Ω,\mathcal F,\mathbb P)$ equipped with the filtration $(\mathcal F_n)_{n\in \mathbb{Z}_+}.$ Assume that $f$ is in the martingale Hardy space $H_1$ and $g$ is in its dual space, namely the martingale $\rm BMO.$ Then the semi-martingale $f\cdot g:=(f_ng_n)_{n\in \mathbb{Z}_+}$ may be written as the sum $$f\cdot g=G(f, g)+L( f,g).$$ Here $L( f,g):=(L( f,g)_n)_{n\in\mathbb{Z}_+}$ with $L( f,g)_n:=\sum_{k=0}^n(f_k-f_{k-1})(g_k-g_{k-1)})$ for any $n\in\mathbb{Z}_+$, where $f_{-…
Let $α\in\mathbb R$, $q\in(0,\infty]$, $p\in(0,\infty)$, and $W$ be an $A_p(\mathbb{R}^n,\mathbb{C}^m)$-matrix weight. In this article, the authors characterize the matrix-weighted Triebel-Lizorkin space $\dot{F}_{p}^{α,q}(W)$ via the Peetre maximal function, the Lusin area function, and the Littlewood-Paley $g_λ^{*}$-function. As applications, the authors establish the boundedness of Fourier multipliers on matrix-weighted Triebel-Lizorkin spaces under the generalized Hörmander condition. The main novelty of these results exists in that their proofs need to fully use both the doubling property…
In this paper we introduce a class of BMO spaces which interpolate with $L_p$ and are sufficiently large to serve as endpoints for new singular integral operators. More precisely, let $(Ω, Σ, μ)$ be a $σ$-finite measure space. Consider two filtrations of $Σ$ by successive refinement of two atomic $σ$-algebras $Σ_\mathrm{a}, Σ_\mathrm{b}$ having trivial intersection. Construct the corresponding truncated martingale BMO spaces. Then, the intersection seminorm only leaves out constants and we provide a quite flexible condition on $(Σ_\mathrm{a}, Σ_\mathrm{b})$ so that the resulting space interpol…
It was well known that geometric considerations enter in a decisive way in many questions of harmonic analysis. The main purpose of this paper is to provide the criterion of the boundedness for singular integrals on the Hardy spaces and as well as on its dual, particularly on $\bmo$ for spaces of homogeneous type $(X, d,μ)$ in the sense of Coifman and Weiss, where the quasi-metric $d$ may have no regularity and the measure $μ$ satisfies only the doubling property. We make no additional geometric assumptions on the quasi-metric or the doubling measure and thus, the results of this paper extend …
Adapting the recently developed randomized dyadic structures, we introduce the notion of spline function in geometrically doubling quasi-metric spaces. Such functions have interpolation and reproducing properties as the linear splines in Euclidean spaces. They also have Hölder regularity. This is used to build an orthonormal basis of Hölder-continuous wavelets with exponential decay in any space of homogeneous type. As in the classical theory, wavelet bases provide a universal Calderón reproducing formula to study and develop function space theory and singular integrals. We discuss the example…
In this paper we establish the characterization of the weighted BMO via two weight commutators in the settings of the Neumann Laplacian $Δ_{N_+}$ on the upper half space $\mathbb{R}^n_+$ and the reflection Neumann Laplacian $Δ_N$ on $\mathbb{R}^n$ with respect to the weights associated to $Δ_{N_+}$ and $Δ_{N}$ respectively. This in turn yields a weak factorization for the corresponding weighted Hardy spaces, where in particular, the weighted class associated to $Δ_{N}$ is strictly larger than the Muckenhoupt weighted class and contains non-doubling weights. In our study, we also make contribut…
Calderón-Zygmund theory has been traditionally developed on metric measure spaces satisfying additional regularity properties. In the lack of good metrics, we introduce a new approach for general measure spaces which admit a Markov semigroup satisfying purely algebraic assumptions. We shall construct an abstract form of "Markov metric" governing the Markov process and the naturally associated BMO spaces, which interpolate with the Lp-scale and admit endpoint inequalities for Calderón-Zygmund operators. Motivated by noncommutative harmonic analysis, this approach gives the first form of Calderó…

Assume that the growth function $φ:\ \mathcal{X}\times[0,\infty) \to[0,\infty)$ satisfies that $φ(x,\cdot)$ is an Orlicz function and $φ(\cdot,t)\in {\mathbb A}_{\infty}(\mathcal{X})$ (the class of uniformly Muckenhoupt weights). Let $H_{φ,\,L}(\mathcal{X})$ be the Musielak-Orlicz-Hardy space defined via the Lusin area function associated with the heat semigroup of $L$. In this article, the authors characteri…
Let $\mathcal{X}$ be a metric space with doubling measure and $L$ a one-to-one operator of type $ω$ having a bounded $H_\infty$-functional calculus in $L^2(\mathcal{X})$ satisfying the reinforced $(p_L, q_L)$ off-diagonal estimates on balls, where $p_L\in[1,2)$ and $q_L\in(2,\infty]$. Let $φ:\,\mathcal{X}\times[0,\infty)\to[0,\infty)$ be a function such that $φ(x,\cdot)$ is an Orlicz function, $φ(\cdot,t)\in {\mathbb A}_{\infty}(\mathcal{X})$ (the class of uniformly Muckenhoupt weights), its uniformly critical upper type index $I(φ)\in(0,1]$ and $φ(\cdot,t)$ satisfies the uniformly reverse Höl…
This is a revised version of the doctoral dissertation of the same title, written under the supervision of Professor Krzysztof Stempak in 2019. For general (possibly nondoubling) metric measure spaces various properties of the associated maximal operators, centered $\mathcal{M}^{\rm c}$ and noncentered $\mathcal{M}$, are investigated. Chapter 1 is the introduction to the topic. In Chapter 2 the classification of possible interrelations between the occurrences of strong, weak, and restricted weak type inequalities for both $\mathcal{M}^{\rm c}$ and $\mathcal{M}$ simultaneously is given. In Chap…
