We relate the version of rational Symplectic Field Theory for exact Lagrangian cobordisms introduced in [5] with linearized Legendrian contact homology. More precisely, if $L\subset X$ is an exact Lagrangian submanifold of an exact symplectic manifold with convex end $Λ\subset Y$, where $Y$ is a contact manifold and $Λ$ is a Legendrian submanifold, and if $L$ has empty concave end, then the linearized Legendrian contact cohomology of $Λ$, linearized with respect to the augmentation induced by $L$, equals the rational SFT of $(X,L)$. Following ideas of P. Seidel, this equality in combination with a version of Lagrangian Floer cohomology of $L$ leads us to a conjectural exact sequence which in particular implies that if $X=\C^{n}$ then the linearized Legendrian contact cohomology of $Λ\subset S^{2n-1}$ is isomorphic to the singular homology of $L$. We outline a proof of the conjecture and show how to interpret the duality exact sequence for linearized contact homology of [6] in terms of the resulting isomorphism.
Positive loops of Legendrian embeddings are examined from the point of view of Floer homology of Lagrangian cobordisms. This leads to new obstructions to the existence of a positive loop containing a given Legendrian, expressed in terms of the Legendrian contact homology of the Legendrian submanifold. As applications, old and new examples of orderable contact manifolds are obtained and discussed. We also show that contact manifolds admitting a filling of a Liouville domain with non-zero symplectic homology is strongly orderable in the sense of Liu.
We prove that the LOSS and GRID invariants of Legendrian links in knot Floer homology behave in certain functorial ways with respect to decomposable Lagrangian cobordisms in the symplectization of the standard contact structure on $\mathbb{R}^3$. Our results give new, computable, and effective obstructions to the existence of such cobordisms.
In this note, we observe that the hat version of the Heegaard Floer invariant of Legendrian knots in contact three-manifolds defined by Lisca-Ozsvath-Stipsicz-Szabo can be combinatorially computed. We rely on Plamenevskaya's combinatorial description of the Heegaard Floer contact invariant.
Let $Λ, Λ'$ be a pair of closed Legendrian submanifolds in a closed contact manifold $(Y, ξ= Ker(α))$ related by a Legendrian cobordism $W\subset (\mathbb{C}\times Y, \tildeξ=Ker(-y dx +α))$. In this note, we show that in the hypertight setting, if $Λ$ intersects a closed, weakly exact or monotone pre-Lagrangian $P\subset Y$ for reasons of Floer homology, then so does $Λ'$.
We give a construction of embedded contact homology (ECH) for a contact $3$-manifold $Y$ with convex sutured boundary and a pair of Legendrians $Λ_+$ and $Λ_-$ contained in $\partial Y$ satisfying an exactness condition. The chain complex is generated by certain configurations of closed Reeb orbits of $Y$ and Reeb chords of $Λ_+$ to $Λ_-$. The main ingredients include: a general Legendrian adjunction formula for curves in $\mathbb{R} \times Y$ with boundary on $\mathbb{R} \times Λ$; a relative writhe bound for curves in contact $3$-manifolds asymptotic to Reeb chords; and a Legendrian ECH inde…
We extend the sutured framework to the case of Legendrians with boundary. Using ideas from Lagrangian Floer theory, we define the cylindrical and the wrapped sutured Legendrian homologies of a pair of sutured Legendrians. They fit together into an exact sequence, and the exact triangle is invariant along an Legendrian isotopy fixed at the boundary. For a single Legendrian, we also define a wrapped version of its Chekanov-Eliashberg dga. Our main example of sutured Legendrian is obtained via the unit conormal construction : a submanifold $N \subset M$, such that $\partial N \subset \partial M$ …
By examining knot Floer homology, we extend a result of Ozsváth and Stipsicz and show further infinitely many Legendrian and transversely non-simple knot types among two-bridge knots. We give sufficient conditions of Legendrian and transverse non-simplicity on the continued fraction expansion of the corresponding rational number.
We present the first examples of elements in the fundamental group of the space of Legendrian links in the standard contact 3-sphere whose action on the Legendrian contact DGA is of infinite order. This allows us to construct the first families of Legendrian links that can be shown to admit infinitely many Lagrangian fillings by Floer-theoretic techniques. These families include the first known Legendrian links with infinitely many fillings that are not rainbow closures of positive braids, and the smallest Legendrian link with infinitely many fillings known to date. We discuss how to use our e…
In this paper, we study contact surgeries along Legendrian links in the standard contact 3-sphere. On one hand, we use algebraic methods to prove the vanishing of the contact Ozsváth-Szabó invariant for contact $(+1)$-surgery along certain Legendrian two-component links. The main tool is a link surgery formula for Heegaard Floer homology developed by Manolescu and Ozsváth. On the other hand, we use contact-geometric argument to show the overtwistedness of the contact 3-manifolds obtained by contact $(+1)$-surgeries along Legendrian two-component links whose two components are linked in some sp…

Let $S$ be a closed orientable spin manifold. Let $K \subset S$ be a submanifold and denote its complement by $M_K$. In this paper we prove that there exists an isomorphism between partially wrapped Floer cochains of a cotangent fiber stopped by the unit conormal $\varLambda_K$ and chains of a Morse theoretic model of the based loop space of $M_K$, which intertwines the $A_\infty$-structure with the Pontryagin product. As an application, we restrict to codimension 2 spheres $K \subset S^n$ where $n = 5$ or $n\geq 7$. Then we show that there is a family of knots $K$ so that the partially wrappe…
We develop the gluing theory of contact instantons in the context of open strings and in the context of closed strings \emph{with vanishing charge}, for example in the symplectization context. This is one of the key ingredients for the study of (virtually) smooth moduli space of (bordered) contact instantons needed for the construction of contact instanton Floer cohomology and more generally for the construction of Fukaya-type category of Legendrian submanifolds in contact manifold $(M,ξ)$. As an application, we apply the gluing theorem to give the construction of (cylindrical) Legendrian cont…
We construct a product on the Floer complex associated to a pair of Lagrangian cobordisms. More precisely, given three exact transverse Lagrangian cobordisms in the symplectization of a contact manifold, we define a map $\mathfrak{m}_2$ by a count of rigid pseudo-holomorphic disks with boundary on the cobordisms and having punctures asymptotic to intersection points and Reeb chords of the negative Legendrian ends of the cobordisms. More generally, to a $(d+1)$-tuple of exact transverse Lagrangian cobordisms we associate a map $\mathfrak{m}_d$ such that the family $(\mathfrak{m}_d)_{d\geq1}$ ar…
We define an invariant of contact structures in dimension three from Heegaard Floer homology. This invariant takes values in the set $\mathbb{Z}_{\geq0}\cup\{\infty\}$. It is zero for overtwisted contact structures, $\infty$ for Stein fillable contact structures, non-decreasing under Legendrian surgery, and computable from any supporting open book decomposition. As an application, we obstruct Stein fillability on contact 3-manifolds with non-vanishing Ozsváth-Szabó contact class.
We recently defined an invariant of contact manifolds with convex boundary in Kronheimer and Mrowka's sutured monopole Floer homology theory. Here, we prove that there is an isomorphism between sutured monopole Floer homology and sutured Heegaard Floer homology which identifies our invariant with the contact class defined by Honda, Kazez and Matić in the latter theory. One consequence is that the Legendrian invariants in knot Floer homology behave functorially with respect to Lagrangian concordance. In particular, these invariants provide computable and effective obstructions to the existence …
We define a unital $A_\infty$-category whose objects are exact Lagrangian cobordisms in the symplectization of $Y=P\times\mathbb{R}$, with negative cylindrical ends over Legendrians equipped with augmentations. The morphism spaces are given in terms of Floer complexes $Cth_+(Σ_0,Σ_1)$ which are versions of the Rabinowitz Floer complex defined by Symplectic Field Theory (SFT) techniques.
We establish new examples of augmentations of Legendrian twist knots that cannot be induced by orientable Lagrangian fillings. To do so, we use a version of the Seidel-Ekholm-Dimitroglou Rizell isomorphism with local coefficients to show that any Lagrangian filling point in the augmentation variety of a Legendrian knot must lie in the injective image of an algebraic torus with dimension equal to the first Betti number of the filling. This is a Floer-theoretic version of a result from microlocal sheaf theory. For the augmentations in question, we show that no such algebraic torus can exist.
This is the first of two papers devoted to showing how the rich algebraic formalism of Eliashberg-Givental-Hofer's symplectic field theory (SFT) can be used to define higher algebraic structures on the symplectic cohomology of open symplectic manifolds. Using the SFT of Hamiltonian mapping tori we show how to define a homotopy extension of the well-known Lie bracket on symplectic cohomology. Apart from discussing applications to the existence of closed Reeb orbits, we outline how the $L_{\infty}$-structure is conjecturally related via mirror symmetry to the extended deformation theory of compl…
Lagrangian cobordisms between Legendrian knots arise in Symplectic Field Theory and impose an interesting and not well-understood relation on Legendrian knots. There are some known "elementary" building blocks for Lagrangian cobordisms that are smoothly the attachment of $0$- and $1$-handles. An important question is whether every pair of non-empty Legendrians that are related by a connected Lagrangian cobordism can be related by a ribbon Lagrangian cobordism, in particular one that is "decomposable" into a composition of these elementary building blocks. We will describe these and other combi…
