In this paper we derive a criterion for the breakdown of classical solutions to the incompressible magnetohydrodynamic equations with zero viscosity and positive resistivity in $\mathbb{R}^3$. This result is analogous to the celebrated Beale-Kato-Majda's breakdown criterion for the inviscid Eluer equations of incompressible fluids. In $\mathbb{R}^2$ we establish global weak solutions to the magnetohydrodynamic equations with zero viscosity and positive resistivity for initial data in Sobolev space $H^1(\mathbb{R}^2)$.
We investigate the zero kinematic viscosity-magnetic diffusion limit of the incompressible viscous magnetohydrodynamic equations with Navier boundary conditions in a smooth bounded domain $Ω\subset\mathbb{R}^3$. We obtain the uniform regularity of solutions with respect to the kinematic viscosity coefficient and the magnetic diffusivity coefficient. These solutions are uniformly bounded in a conormal Sobolev space and $W^{1,\infty}(Ω)$ which allow us to take the zero kinematic viscosity-magnetic diffusion limit. Moreover, we also get the rates of convergence.
We deal with the equations of a planar magnetohydrodynamic compressible flow with the viscosity depending on the specific volume of the gas and the heat conductivity proportional to a positive power of the temperature. Under the same conditions on the initial data as those of the constant viscosity and heat conductivity case ([Kazhikhov (1987)], we obtain the global existence and uniqueness of strong solutions which means no shock wave, vacuum, or mass or heat concentration will be developed in finite time, although the motion of the flow has large oscillations and the interaction between the …
In this paper, we consider an initial-boundary problem for plane magnetohydrodynamics flows under the general condition on the heat conductivity $κ$ that may depend on both the density $ρ$ and the temperature $θ$ and satisfies $$ κ(ρ,θ)\geqκ_1(1+θ^{q}) \quad \hbox{\rm with constants}~ κ_1>0 ~\hbox{\rm and}~ q>0. $$ We prove the global existence of strong solutions for large initial data and justify the passage to the limit as the shear viscosity $μ$ goes to zero. Furthermore, the value $μ^α$ with any $0<α<1/2$ is established for the boundary layer thickness.
By observing a new relation between the magnetic pressure and the hydrodynamic pressure, global existence of classical solution to the full perfect MHD equations with large data is established, in particular including the case when all the viscosity, heat conductivity and diffusivity coefficients are constant. This can be viewed as an analog of the classical work by Kazhikhov-Shelukhin for the Navier-Stokes equations to the MHD equations. In addition, the vanishing shear viscosity limit is proved.
We are concerned with the uniform regularity estimates and vanishing viscosity limit of solution to two dimensional viscous compressible magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations with transverse background magnetic field. When the magnetic field is assumed to be transverse to the boundary and the tangential component of magnetic field satisfies zero Neumann boundary condition, even though the velocity is imposed the no-slip boundary condition, the uniform regularity estimates of solution and its derivatives still can be achieved in suitable conormal Sobolev spaces in the half plane $\mathbb{R}^2_+$…
In this brief note we study the $n$-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic equations with hyper-viscosity and zero resistivity. We prove global regularity of solutions when the hyper-viscosity is sufficiently strong.
We study several mathematical aspects of a system of equations modelling the interaction between short waves, described by a nonlinear Schrödinger equation, and long waves, described by the equations of magnetohydrodynamics for a compressible, heat conductive fluid. The system in question models an aurora-type phenomenon, where a short wave propagates along the streamlines of a magnetohydrodynamic medium. We focus on the one dimensional (planar) version of the model and address the problem of well posedness as well as convergence of the sequence of solutions as the bulk viscosity tends to zero…
In this paper we consider the global well-posedness of compressible magnetohydrodynamic system in $\R^d$ with $d\geq2$, in the framework of the critical Besov spaces. We can show that if the initial data, the shear viscosity and the magnetic diffusion coefficient are small comparing with the volume viscosity, then compressible magnetohydrodynamic system has a unique global solution.
Global well-posedness and exponential decay of 2D nonhomogeneous Navier-Stokes and magnetohydrodynamic equations with density-dependent viscosity and vacuum
We consider viscous free-boundary magnetohydrodynamics(MHD) under vacuum in $\mathbb{R}^3$, especially when vacuum magnetic field is identically zero. It is a central problem in mathematics to perform vanishing viscosity limit to get a solution of hyperbolic inviscid system. However, boundary layer behavior happens near the free-boundary, so existence time $T^{\varepsilon} \rightarrow 0$ as kinematic viscosity $\varepsilon\rightarrow 0$ in standard sobolev space. Inspired by \cite{NMFR1}, we use sobolev conormal space to derive uniform regularity in viscosity $\varepsilon$. Finally, we get a s…
Singular vorticty solutions of the incompressible 3D-Euler equation are constructed which satisfy the BKM criterion (cf. [2]). The construction is done by inviscid limits of vorticity solutions of transformed incompressible Navier Stokes type equations with a damping potential term, where the latter equations admit a global regular solution for positive viscosity. The inviscid limit vorticity solution of the incompressible Euler vorticity equation becomes singular at a point of the boundary of a finite domain.

Global weak solutions and incompressible limit of two-dimensional isentropic compressible magnetohydrodynamic equations with ripped density and large initial data
This paper studies the Cauchy problem of the incompressible magnetohydrodynamic systems with or without viscosity $ν$. Under the assumption that the initial velocity field and the displacement of the initial magnetic field from a non-zero constant are sufficiently small in certain weighted Sobolev spaces, the Cauchy problem is shown to be globally well-posed for all $ν\geq 0$ and all space dimension $n \geq 2$. Such a result holds true uniformly in nonnegative viscosity parameter. The proof is based on the inherent strong null structure of the systems which was first introduced for incompressi…

We prove the non-uniqueness of weak solutions to 3D magnetohydrodynamic (MHD for short) equations. The constructed weak solutions do not conserve the magnetic helicity and can be close to any given smooth, divergence-free and mean-free velocity and magnetic fields. Furthermore, we prove that the weak solutions constructed by Beekie-Buckmaster-Vicol [2] for the ideal MHD can be obtained as a strong vanishing viscosity and resistivity limit of a sequence of weak solutions to MHD equations. This shows that, in contrast to the weak ideal limits, Taylor's conjecture does not hold along the vanishin…
We construct and study global solutions for the 3-dimensional incompressible MHD systems with arbitrary small viscosity. In particular, we provide a rigorous justification for the following dynamical phenomenon observed in many contexts: the solution initially behaves like non-dispersive waves and the shape of the solution persists for a very long time (proportional to the Reynolds number), thereafter, the solution will be damped due to the long-time accumulation of the diffusive effects, eventually, the total energy of the system becomes extremely small compared to the viscosity so that the d…
We are concerned with an initial boundary value problem for the compressible magnetohydrodynamic equations with viscosity depending on the density. It is show that for the initial density away from vacuum, the strong solution to the problem exists globally if the gradient of velocity satisfies $\|\nabla\mathbf{u}\|_{L^{2}(0,T;L^\infty)}<\infty$. Our method relies upon the delicate energy estimates and elliptic estimates.
We show local existence and uniqueness of plasma(fluid)-vaccum free boundary problem of magnetohydrodynamic flow in three-dimensional space with infinite depth setting when magnetic field is zero on the free boundary. We use Sobolev-Slobodetskii space which was used in usual free boundary problem in [3,5,6,7,8,9]. We also show that this solution can be extended as long as we want for sufficiently small initial data. Using the result of this paper we will get a unique solution of (kinematic inviscid) - (magnetic non diffusive) free boundary magnetohydrodynamics problem via (kinematic viscosity)…
In one-dimensional unbounded domains, we consider the equations of a planar compressible magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow with constant viscosity and heat conductivity. More precisely, we prove the global existence of strong solutions to the MHD equations with large initial data satisfying the same conditions as those of Kazhikhov's theory in bounded domains (Kazhikhov 1987 Boundary Value Problems for Equations of Mathematical Physics (Krasnoyarsk)). In particular, our result generalizes the Kazhikhov's theory for the initial boundary value problem in bounded domains to the unbounded case.
Global weak solutions and incompressible limit to the isentropic compressible magnetohydrodynamic equations in 2D bounded domains with ripped density and large initial data
In this paper, we consider two Approximate Deconvolution Magnetohydrodynamics models which are related to Large Eddy Simulation. We first study existence and uniqueness of solutions in the double viscous case. Then, we study existence and uniqueness of solutions of the Approximate Deconvolution MHD model with magnetic diffusivity, but without kinematic viscosity. In each case, we give the optimal value of regularizations where we can prove global existence and uniqueness of the solutions. The second model includes the Approximate Deconvolution Euler Model as a particular case. Finally, an asym…
We are concerned with the uniform regularity estimates of solutions to the two dimensional compressible non-resistive magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations with the no-slip boundary condition on velocity in the half plane. Under the assumption that the initial magnetic field is transverse to the boundary, the uniform conormal energy estimates are established for the solutions to compressible MHD equations with respect to small viscosity coefficients. As a direct consequence, we proved the inviscid limit of solutions from viscous MHD systems to the ideal MHD systems in $L^\infty$ sense. It shows…
In this paper, the 3-D compressible MHD equations with initial vacuum or infinity electric conductivity is considered. We prove that the $L^\infty$ norms of the deformation tensor $D(u)$ and the absolute temperature $θ$ control the possible blow-up (see [5][18][20]) for strong solutions, which means that if a solution of the compressible MHD equations is initially regular and loses its regularity at some later time, then the formation of singularity must be caused by losing the bound of $D(u)$ and $θ$ as the critical time approaches. The viscosity coefficients are only restricted by the physic…
We prove the non-uniqueness of weak solutions to 3D hyper viscous and resistive MHD in the class $L^γ_tW^{s,p}_x$, where the exponents $(s,γ,p)$ lie in two supercritical regimes. The result reveals that the scaling-invariant Ladyženskaja-Prodi-Serrin (LPS) condition is the right criterion to detect non-uniqueness, even in the highly viscous and resistive regime beyond the Lions exponent. In particular, for the classical viscous and resistive MHD, the non-uniqueness is sharp near the endpoint $(0,2,\infty)$ of the LPS condition. Moreover, the constructed weak solutions admit the partial regular…
This paper studies the Cauchy problem for three-dimensional viscous, compressible, and heat conducting magnetohydrodynamic equations with vacuum as far field density. We prove the global existence and uniqueness of strong solutions provided that the quantity $\|ρ_0\|_{L^\infty}+\|b_0\|_{L^3}$ is suitably small and the viscosity coefficients satisfy $3μ>λ$. Here, the initial velocity and initial temperature could be large. The assumption on the initial density do not exclude that the initial density may vanish in a subset of $\mathbb{R}^3$ and that it can be of a nontrivially compact support. O…
This paper is concerned with the initial-boundary value problem to 2D magnetohydrodynamics-Boussinesq system with the temperature-dependent viscosity, thermal diffusivity and electrical conductivity. First, we establish the global weak solutions under the minimal initial assumption. Then by imposing higher regularity assumption on the initial data, we obtain the global strong solution with uniqueness. Moreover, the exponential decay estimate of the solution is obtained.
In this paper, we study the barotropic compressible magnetohydrodynamic equations with the shear viscosity being a positive constant and the bulk one being proportional to a power of the density in a general two-dimensional bounded simply connected domain. For initial density allowed to vanish, we prove that the initial-boundary-value problem of 2D compressible MHD system admits the global strong and weak solutions without any restrictions on the size of initial data provided the shear viscosity is a positive constant and bulk one is $λ=ρ^β$ with $β>4/3$. As we known, this is the first result …
In this paper, we prove the global well-posedness for the three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations with zero viscosity and axisymmetric initial data. First, we analyze the problem corresponding to the Sobolev regularities $ H^s\times H^{s-2}$, with $ s>5/2$. Second, we address the same problem but for the Besov critical regularities $ B_{p,1}^{3/p+1}\times B_{1,p}^{3/p-1}$, $2\leq p\leq \infty$. This case turns out to be more subtle as the Beale-Kato-Majda criterion is not known to be valid for rough regularities.
We obtain the global well-posedness to the 3D incompressible magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations in Besov space with negative index of regularity. Particularly, we can get the global solutions for a new class of large initial data. As a byproduct, this result improves the corresponding result in \cite{HHW}. In addition, we also get the global result for this system in $\mathcalχ^{-1}(\R^3)$ originally developed in \cite{LL}. More precisely, we only assume that the norm of initial data is exactly smaller than the sum of viscosity and diffusivity parameters.

Inspired by an approach proposed previously for the incompressible Navier-Stokes (NS) equations, we present a general framework for the a posteriori analysis of the equations of incompressible magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) on a torus of arbitrary dimension d; this setting involves a Sobolev space of infinite order, made of C^infinity vector fields (with vanishing divergence and mean) on the torus. Given any approximate solution of the MHD Cauchy problem, its a posteriori analysis with the method of the present work allows to infer a lower bound on the time of existence of the exact solution, and …
