Spatially periodic complex-valued solutions of the Burgers and KdV-Burgers equations are studied in this paper. It is shown that for any sufficiently large time T, there exists an explicit initial data such that its corresponding solution of the Burgers equation blows up at T. In addition, the global convergence and regularity of series solutions is established for initial data satisfying mild conditions.
We are interested in the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV), the Burgers, and the Whitham limit for a spatially periodic Boussinesq model with non-small contrast. We prove estimates between the KdV, the Burgers, and the Whitham approximation and true solutions of the original system which guarantee that these amplitude equations make correct predictions about the dynamics of the spatially periodic Boussinesq model over the natural time scales of the amplitude equations. The proof is based on Bloch wave analysis and energy estimates. The result is the first justification result of the KdV, the Burgers, an…
Evaluation of analytical solutions of non-linear partial differential equations (both classical and fractional) is a rising subject in Applied Mathematics because its applications in Physical biological and social sciences. In this paper we have used generalized Tanh method to find the exact solution of KP-Burger equation and coupled KdV equation. The fractional Sub-equation method has been used to find the solution of fractional KP-Burger equation and fractional coupled KdV equations. The exact solution obtained by fractional sub-equation method reduces to classical solution when order of fra…
We consider the KdV-Burgers equation and its linear version in presence of a delay feedback. We prove well-posedness of the models and exponential decay estimates under appropriate conditions on the damping coefficients. Our arguments rely on a Lyapunov functional approach combined with a step by step procedure and semigroup theory.
This work is concerned about the Cauchy problem for the following generalized KdV- Burgers equation \begin{equation*} \left\{\begin{array}{l} \partial_tu+\partial_x^3u+L_pu+u\partial_xu=0, u(0,\,x)=u_0(x). \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} where $L_p$ is a dissipative multiplicator operator. Using Besov-Bourgain Spaces, we establish a bilinear estimate and following the framework developed in Molinet, L. & Vento, S. (2011) we prove sharp global well-posedness in the Sobolev spaces $H^{-p/2}(I\!\!R)$ and sharp ill-posedness in $H^s(I\!\!R)$ when $s<-p/2$ with $p \geq 2$.
We take a closer look at the Riemann-Hilbert problem associated to one-gap solutions of the Korteweg-de Vries equation. To gain more insight, we reformulate it as a scalar Riemann-Hilbert problem on the torus. This enables us to derive deductively the model vector-valued and singular matrix-valued solutions in terms of Jacobi theta functions. We compare our results with those obtained in recent literature.
We study the complex-valued modified Korteweg-de Vries equation (mKdV) on the circle. We first consider the real-valued setting and show global well-posedness of the (usual) renormalized mKdV equation in the Fourier-Lebesgue spaces. In the complex-valued setting, we observe that the momentum plays an important role in the well-posedness theory. In particular, we prove that the complex-valued mKdV equation is ill-posed in the sense of non-existence of solutions when the momentum is infinite, in the spirit of the work on the nonlinear Schrödinger equation by Guo-Oh (2018). This non-existence res…
We study the well-posedness of the complex-valued modified Korteweg-de Vries equation (mKdV) on the circle at low regularity. In our previous work (2019), we introduced the second renormalized mKdV equation, based on the conservation of momentum, which we proposed as the correct model to study the complex-valued mKdV outside of $H^\frac12(\mathbb{T})$. Here, we employ the method introduced by Deng-Nahmod-Yue (2019) to prove local well-posedness of the second renormalized mKdV equation in the Fourier-Lebesgue spaces $\mathcal{F}L^{s,p}(\mathbb{T})$ for $s\geq \frac12$ and $1\leq p <\infty$. As …
We study well-posedness of the complex-valued modified KdV equation (mKdV) on the real line. In particular, we prove local well-posedness of mKdV in modulation spaces $M^{2,p}_{s}(\mathbb{R})$ for $s \ge \frac14$ and $2\leq p < \infty$. For $s < \frac 14$, we show that the solution map for mKdV is not locally uniformly continuous in $M^{2,p}_{s}(\mathbb{R})$. By combining this local well-posedness with our previous work (2018) on an a priori global-in-time bound for mKdV in modulation spaces, we also establish global well-posedness of mKdV in $M^{2,p}_{s}(\mathbb{R})$ for $s \ge \frac14$ and $…
In this note we discuss the diffusive, vector-valued Burgers equations in a three-dimensional domain with periodic boundary conditions. We prove that given initial data in $H^{1/2}$ these equations admit a unique global solution that becomes classical immediately after the initial time. To prove local existence, we follow as closely as possible an argument giving local existence for the Navier--Stokes equations. The existence of global classical solutions is then a consequence of the maximum principle for the Burgers equations due to Kiselev and Ladyzhenskaya (1957). In several places we encou…
We consider a class of dispersive and dissipative perturbations of the inviscid Burgers equation, which includes the fractional KdV equation of order $α$, and the fractal Burgers equation of order $β$, where $α, β\in [0,1)$, and the Whitham equation. For all $α, β\in [0,1)$, we construct solutions whose gradient blows up at a point, and whose amplitude stays bounded, which therefore display a "shock-like" singularity. We moreover provide an asymptotic description of the blow-up. To our knowledge, this constitutes the first proof of gradient blow-up for the fKdV equation in the range $α\in [2/3…
The recursion operators admitted by different operator Burgers equations, in the framework of the study of nonlinear evolution equations, are here con- sidered. Specifically, evolution equations wherein the unknown is an operator acting on a Banach space are investigated. Here, the mirror non-Abelian Burgers equation is considered: it can be written as $r_t = r_{xx} + 2r_x r$. The structural properties of the admitted recursion operator are studied; thus, it is proved to be a strong symmetry for the mirror non-Abelian Burgers equation as well as to be the hereditary. These results are proved v…
We present a rigorous theory of a unified and simple inverse scattering transform (IST) for both focusing and defocusing real nonlocal (reverse-space-time) modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equations with non-zero boundary conditions (NZBCs) at infinity. The IST problems for the nonlocal equations with NZBCs are more complicated then ones for the local equations with NZBCs. The suitable uniformization variable is introduced in order to make the direct and inverse problems be established on a complex plane instead of a two-sheeted Riemann surface. The direct scattering problem establishes the a…
We study a rather general class of optimal "ballistic" transport problems for matrix-valued measures. These problems naturally arise, in the spirit of \emph{Y. Brenier. Comm. Math. Phys. (2018) 364(2) 579-605}, from a certain dual formulation of nonlinear evolutionary equations with a particular quadratic structure reminiscent both of the incompressible Euler equation and of the quadratic Hamilton-Jacobi equation. The examples include the ideal incompressible MHD, the template matching equation, the multidimensional Camassa-Holm (also known as the Hdiv geodesic equation), EPDiff, Euler-alpha, …
