In this short note, we show a uniqueness result of the energy solutions for the Cauchy problem of Schrodinger flow in the whole space $R^n$ provided there is a smooth solution in the energy class.
We establish the uniqueness of a smooth generalized bi-Schrödinger flow from the one-dimensional flat torus into a compact locally Hermitian symmetric space. The governing equation, which is satisfied by sections of the pull-back bundle induced from the flow, is a fourth-order nonlinear dispersive partial differential equation with loss of derivatives. To show the uniqueness, we adopt an extrinsic approach to compare two solutions via an isometric embedding into an ambient Euclidean space. We introduce an energy modifying the classical $H^2$-energy for the difference of two solutions, the deta…
Our paper deals with three-dimensional nonsteady Navier-Stokes equations for non-Newtonian compressible fluids. It contains a~derivation of the relative energy inequality for the weak solutions to these equations. We show that the standard energy inequality implies the relative energy inequality. Consequently, the relative energy inequality allows us to achieve a weak-strong uniqueness result. In other words, we present that the weak solution of the Navier-Stokes system coincides with the strong solution emanated from the same initial conditions as long as the weak solution exists.
In this paper a nonlinear coupled Schrodinger system in the presence of mixed cubic and superlinear power laws is considered. Focus are made on the steady state solutions of the continuous system for existence and uniqueness by minimizing problem on some associated Nehari manifold.
We establish the uniqueness of ground states of some coupled nonlinear Schrodinger systems in the whole space. We firstly use Schwartz symmetrization to obtain the existence of ground states for a more general case. To prove the uniqueness of ground states, we use the radial symmetry of the ground states to transform the systems into an ordinary differential system, and then we use the integral forms of the system. More interestingly, as an application of our uniqueness results, we derive a sharp vector-valued Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality.
We give a sharp upper bound on the vanishing order of solutions to Schrodinger equation with C^1 electric and magnetic potentials on a compact smooth manifold. Our method is based on quantitative Carleman type inequalities developed by Donnelly and Fefferman. It also extends the first author's previous work to the magnetic potential case.
We prove that the solutions to the initial-value problem for 2-dimensional Schrödinger maps are unique in $C_tL_x^{\infty} \cap L_t^{\infty} (\dot{H}^1_x\cap \dot{H}^2_x)$. For the proof, we follow McGahagan's argument with improving its technical part, combining Yudovich's argument.
We are concerned with the following Schrödinger-Newton problem \begin{equation} -\varepsilon^2Δu+V(x)u=\frac{1}{8π\varepsilon^2} \big(\int_{\mathbb R^3}\frac{u^2(ξ)}{|x-ξ|}dξ\big)u,~x\in \mathbb R^3. \end{equation} For $\varepsilon$ small enough, we show the uniqueness of positive solutions concentrating at the nondegenerate critical points of $V(x)$. The main tools are a local Pohozaev type of identity, blow-up analysis and the maximum principle. Our results also show that the asymptotic behavior of concentrated points to Schrödinger-Newton problem is quite different from those of Schrödinger…
We study global uniqueness in an inverse problem for the fractional semilinear Schrödinger equation $(-Δ)^{s}u+q(x,u)=0$ with $s\in (0,1)$. We show that an unknown function $q(x,u)$ can be uniquely determined by the Cauchy data set. In particular, this result holds for any space dimension greater than or equal to $2$. Moreover, we demonstrate the comparison principle and provide a $L^\infty$ estimate for this nonlocal equation under appropriate regularity assumptions.
The manuscript is concerned with uniqueness and stability for inverse source problem of determining spatially varying factor $f(x)$ of a source term given by $R(t)f(x)$ with suitable given $R(t)$ in the right hand side of the Schrödinger equation with time independent coefficients. In order to establish these results we provide a simple proof of a logarithmic conditional stability of the Cauchy problem for the Schrödinger equation with time-independent coefficients and the zero Dirichlet boundary conditions on the whole boundary and a proof of uniqueness of solution to the Cauchy problem for t…
We study the Cauchy problem for the $1$-d periodic fractional Schrödinger equation with cubic nonlinearity. In particular we prove local well-posedness in Sobolev spaces, for solutions evolving from rough initial data. In addition we show the existence of global-in-time infinite energy solutions. Our tools include a new Strichartz estimate on the torus along with ideas that Bourgain developed in studying the periodic cubic NLS.
We study the problem of unconditional uniqueness of solutions to the cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We introduce a new strategy to approach this problem on bounded domains, in particular on rectangular tori. It is a known fact that solutions to the cubic NLS give rise to solutions of the Gross-Pitaevskii hierarchy, which is an infinite-dimensional system of linear equations. By using the uniqueness analysis of the Gross-Pitaevskii hierarchy, we obtain new unconditional uniqueness results for the cubic NLS on rectangular tori, which cover the full scaling-subcritical regime in high dimen…
In this paper we study global Poincare inequalities on balls in a large class of sub-Riemannian manifolds satisfying the generalized curvature dimension inequality introduced by F.Baudoin and N.Garofalo. As a corollary, we prove the uniqueness of solutions for the subelliptic heat equation. Our results apply in particular to CR Sasakian manifolds with Tanaka-Webster-Ricci curvature bounded from below and Carnot groups of step two.
In this paper, we investigate the existence and local uniqueness of normalized peak solutions for a Schrödinger-Newton system under the assumption that the trapping potential is degenerate and has non-isolated critical points. First we investigate the existence and local uniqueness of normalized single-peak solutions for the Schrödinger-Newton system. Precisely, we give the precise description of the chemical potential $μ$ and the attractive interaction $a$. Then we apply the finite dimensional reduction method to obtain the existence of single-peak solutions. Furthermore, using various local …
In this paper we consider the linear Schrodinger equation (LSE) on a regular tree with the last generation of edges of infinite length and analyze some unique continuation properties. The first part of the paper deals with the LSE on the real line with a piece-wise constant coefficient and uses this result in the context of regular trees. The second part treats the case of a LSE with a real potential in the framework of a star-shaped graph.
We derive a singular version of the Sphere Covering Inequality which was recently introduced in [42], suitable for treating singular Liouville-type problems with superharmonic weights. As an application we deduce new uniqueness results for solutions of the singular mean field equation both on spheres and on bounded domains, as well as new self-contained proofs of previously known results, such as the uniqueness of spherical convex polytopes first established in [56]. Furthermore, we derive new symmetry results for the spherical Onsager vortex equation.
We prove the uniqueness for the positive solutions of the following elliptic systems: \begin{eqnarray*} \left\{\begin{array}{ll} - \lap (u(x)) = u(x)^αv(x)^β - \lap (v(x)) = u(x)^β v(x)^α \end{array} \right. \end{eqnarray*} Here $x\in R^n$, $n\geq 3$, and $1\leq α, β\leq \frac{n+2}{n-2}$ with $α+β=\frac{n+2}{n-2}$. In the special case when $n=3$ and $α=2, β=3$, the systems come from the stationary Schrodinger system with critical exponents for Bose-Einstein condensate. As a key step, we prove the radial symmetry of the positive solutions to the elliptic system above with critical exponents.
We prove that if a solution of the discrete time-dependent Schrödinger equation with bounded real potential decays fast at two distinct times then the solution is trivial. For the free Shrödinger operator and for operators with compactly supported time-independent potentials a sharp analog of the Hardy uncertainty principle is obtained, using an argument based on the theory of entire functions. Logarithmic convexity of weighted norms is employed in the case of general real-valued time-dependent bounded potentials. In the latter case the result is not optimal.
We prove that radial, monotonic, superexponentially decaying potentials in R^n, n greater than or equal to 1 odd, are determined by the resonances of the associated semiclassical Schrodinger operator among all superexponentially decaying potentials in R^n.
We are concerned with the focusing $L^2$-critical nonlinear Schrödinger equations in $\mathbb{R}^d$ for $d=1,2$. The uniqueness is proved for a large energy class of multi-bubble blow-up solutions, which converge to a sum of $K$ pseudo-conformal blow-up solutions particularly with low rate $(T-t)^{0+}$, as $t\to T$, $1\leq K<\infty$. Moreover, we also prove the uniqueness in the energy class of multi-solitons which converge to a sum of $K$ solitary waves with convergence rate $(1/t)^{2+}$, as $t\to \infty$. The uniqueness class is further enlarged to contain the multi-solitons with even lower …
We consider the time local and global well-posedness for the fourth order nonlinear Schrodinger type equation (4NLS) on the torus. The nonlinear term of (4NLS) contains the derivatives of unknown function and this prevents us to apply the classical energy method. To overcome this difficulty, we introduce the modified energy and derive an a priori estimate for the solution to (4NLS).
In this article we present various uniqueness and existence results for Q-curvature type equations with a Paneitz operator on $\s^n$ in axially symmetric function spaces. In particular, we show uniqueness results for $n=6, 8$ and improve the best constant of Beckner's inequality in these dimensions for axially symmetric functions under the constraint that their centers of mass are at the origin. As a consequence, the associated first Szegö limit theorem is also proven for axially symmetric functions.
This result will be published as part of my PhD thesis after some streamlining. This manuscript contains the proof of the claim, but is not peer-reviewed. We prove uniqueness and stability for the inverse problem of the 2D Schrödinger equation in the case that the potentials give well posed direct problems and are in W^{ε,p}(Ω), ε>0, p>2. The idea of the proof is to use Bukhgeim's oscillating exponential solutions. By Alessandrini's identity and stationary phase we get information about the difference of the potentials from the difference of the Dirichlet-Neumann maps. Using interpolation, we …
Uniqueness of the strong positive solution for a general quasilinear elliptic problem with variable exponents and homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions using a generalization of the $p(x)$-Díaz-Saa inequality
Kolesnikov-Milman [9] established a local $L_p$-Brunn-Minkowski inequality for $p\in(1-c/n^{\frac{3}{2}},1).$ Based on their local uniqueness results for the $L_p$-Minkowski problem, we prove in this paper the (global) $L_p$-Brunn-Minkowski inequality. Two uniqueness results are also obtained: the first one is for the $L_p$-Minkowski problem when $p\in (1-c/n^{\frac{3}{2}}, 1)$ for general measure with even positive $C^α$ density, and the second one is for the Logarithmic Minkowski problem when the density of measure is a small $C^α$ even perturbation of the uniform density.
We prove that the spectrum of an n-dimensional semiclassical radial Schrödinger operator determines the potential within a large class of potentials for which we assume no symmetry or analyticity. Our proof is based on the first two semiclassical trace invariants and on the isoperimetric inequality.
We consider the 3d cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLS) with a strong 2d harmonic potential. The model is physically relevant to observe the lower-dimensional dynamics of the Bose-Einstein condensate, but its ground state cannot be constructed by the standard method due to its supercritical nature. In Bellazzini-Boussaïd-Jeanjean-Visciglia \cite{BBJV}, the authors constructed a proper ground state introducing a constrained energy minimization problem. In this paper, we further investigate the properties of the ground state. First, we show that as the partial confinement is increased, the…
We show the relative energy inequality for the compressible Navier-Stokes system driven by a stochastic forcing. As a corollary, we prove the weak-strong uniqueness property (pathwise and in law) and convergence of weak solutions in the inviscid-incompressible limit. In particular, we establish a Yamada-Watanabe type result in the context of the compressible Navier-Stokes system, that is, pathwise weak--strong uniqueness implies weak--strong uniqueness in law.
We show that the knowledge of the set of the Cauchy data on the boundary of a bounded open set in $\R^n$, $n\ge 3$, for the magnetic Schrödinger operator with $L^\infty$ magnetic and electric potentials determines the magnetic field and electric potential inside the set uniquely. The proof is based on a Carleman estimate for the magnetic Schrödinger operator with a gain of two derivatives.
Let P be the operator $-Δ+V$ on R^d, where $V$ is a real potential with several inverse square singularities. The usual non-trapping type high-frequency inequality on the truncated resolvent of $P$ is shown, using semi-classical measures. This inequality implies local smoothing effect on the corresponding Schrodinger equation.
Under some assumptions on the vectors $a_{1},..,a_{n} \in\mathbb{R}^{k}$ and the function $B : \mathbb{R}^{n} \to \mathbb{R}$ we find the sharp estimate of the expression $\int_{\mathbb{R}^{k}} B(u_{1}(a_{1}\cdot x),..., u_{n}(a_{n}\cdot x))dx$ in terms of $\int_{\mathbb{R}}u_{j}(y)dy, j=1,...,n.$ In some particular case we will show that these assumptions on $B$ imply that there is only one Brascamp--Lieb inequality.
In this paper we study the gradient estimate for positive solutions of Schrodinger equations on locally finite graph. Then we derive Harnack's inequality for positive solutions of the Schrodinger equations. We also set up some results about Green functions of the Laplacian equation on locally finite graph. Interesting properties of Schrodinger equation are derived.
In this manuscript two $BMO$ estimates are obtained, one for Linear Elasticity and one for Nonlinear Elasticity. It is first shown that the $BMO$-seminorm of the gradient of a vector-valued mapping is bounded above by a constant times the $BMO$-seminorm of the symmetric part of its gradient, that is, a Korn inequality in $BMO$. The uniqueness of equilibrium for a finite deformation whose principal stresses are everywhere nonnegative is then considered. It is shown that when the second variation of the energy, when considered as a function of the strain, is uniformly positive definite at such a…
In this paper our goal is to define a renormalised dissipative measure--valued (rDMV) solution of compressible Navier--Stokes system for fluids with non-monotone pressure--density relation. We prove existence of rDMV solutions and establish a suitable relative energy inequality. Moreover we obtain the Weak (Measure-valued)-Strong uniqueness property of this rDMV solution with the help of relative energy inequality.
We show the existence of weak solutions in the extended sense of the Cauchy problem for the cubic fourth order nonlinear Schrödinger equation with initial data $u_{0}\in X$, where $X\in\{M_{2,q}^{s}(\mathbb R), H^σ(\mathbb T), H^{s_{1}}(\mathbb R)+H^{s_{2}}(\mathbb T)\}$ and $q\in[1,2]$, $s\geq0$, or $σ\geq0$, or $s_{2}\geq s_{1}\geq0$. Moreover, if $M_{2,q}^{s}(\mathbb R)\hookrightarrow L^{3}(\mathbb R)$, or if $σ\geq\frac16$ or if $s_{1}\geq\frac16$ and $s_{2}>\frac12$ we show that the Cauchy problem is unconditionally wellposed in $X$. Similar results hold true for all higher order nonlinea…
In this paper, our goal is to define a measure valued solution of compressible Navier--Stokes--Fourier system for a heat conducting fluid with Dirichlet boundary condition for temperature in a bounded domain. The definition is based on the weak formulation of entropy inequality and ballistic energy inequality. Moreover, we obtain the weak(measure valued)-strong uniqueness property of this solution with the help of relative energy.
The purpose of this note is to provide a summary of the recent work of the authors on two variations of the pointwise convergence problem for the solutions to the fractional Schrödinger equations; convergence along a tangential line and along a set of lines, as exhibiting some new results in each setting. For the former case, we make a simple observation on a path along a tangential curve of exponential order. We discuss counterexamples for the latter case that show some of the known smooth regularities are essentially optimal.
This paper deals with the Schr{ö}dinger equation $i\partial_s u({\bf z},t;s)-\cal L u({\bf z}, t;s)=0,$ where $\cal L$ is the sub-Laplacian on the Heisenberg group. Assume that the initial data $f$ satisfies $| f({\bf z},t)| \leq C q_a({\bf z},t),$ where $q_s$ is the heat kernel associated to $\cal L.$ If in addition $ |u({\bf z},t;s_0)|\leq C q_b({\bf z},t),$ for some $s_0\in \R^*,$ then we prove that $u({\bf z},t;s)=0$ for all $s\in \R $ whenever $ab<s_0^2.$ This result also holds true on $H$-type groups.
The paper studies the existence of minimizers for Rayleigh quotients $μ_Ω=\inf\frac{\int_Ω|\nabla u|^2}{\int_ΩV{|u|^2}} $, where $Ω$ is a domain in $\mathbb{R}^N$, and $V$ is a nonzero nonnegative function that may have singularities on $\partialΩ$. As a model for our results one can take $Ω$ to be a Lipschitz cone and $V$ to be the Hardy potential $V(x)=\frac{1}{|x|^2} $.
We consider the $\mathbb{T}^{4}$ cubic NLS which is energy-critical. We study the unconditional uniqueness of solution to the NLS via the cubic Gross-Pitaevskii hierarchy, an uncommon method, and does not require the existence of solution in Strichartz type spaces. We prove $U$-$V$ multilinear estimates to replace the previously used Sobolev multilinear estimates, which fail on $\mathbb{T}^{4}$. To incorporate the weaker estimates, we work out new combinatorics from scratch and compute, for the first time, the time integration limits, in the recombined Duhamel-Born expansion. The new combinato…
We relax the regularity condition on potentials of the Schrödinger equation in uniqueness results on the inverse boundary value problem which were recently proved in [11] and [5].
We use a Carleman type inequality of Koch and Tataru to obtain quantitative estimates of unique continuation for solutions of second order elliptic equations with singular lower order terms. First we prove a three sphere inequality and then describe two methods of propagation of smallness from sets of positive measure.
In this paper, we present the result of maximum regularity of the mild solution of the fractional Cauchy problem. As our main result, we investigate the uniqueness of mild solutions for time-fractional Navier-Stokes equations in class $C\left([0,\infty);L^{N}\left( \mathbb{R}^{N}\right)^{N}\right)$ by means of the estimates $L^{p}-L^{q}$ of Giga-Shor inequality and the Gronwall inequality.
We analyze the Ericksen-Leslie system equipped with the Oseen-Frank energy in three space dimensions. Recently, the author introduced the concept of measure-valued solutions to this system and showed the global existence of these generalized solutions. In this paper, we show that suitable measure-valued solutions, which fulfill an associated energy inequality, enjoy the weak-strong uniqueness property, i. e. the measure-valued solution agrees with a strong solution if the latter exists. The weak-strong uniqueness is shown by a relative energy inequality for the associated nonconvex energy func…
We show global uniqueness in an inverse problem for the fractional Schrödinger equation: an unknown potential in a bounded domain is uniquely determined by exterior measurements of solutions. We also show global uniqueness in the partial data problem where the measurements are taken in arbitrary open, possibly disjoint, subsets of the exterior. The results apply in any dimension $\geq 2$ and are based on a strong approximation property of the fractional equation that extends earlier work. This special feature of the nonlocal equation renders the analysis of related inverse problems radically d…
We construct an extremizer for the kinetic energy inequality (except the endpoint cases) developing the concentration-compactness technique for operator valued inequality in the formulation of the profile decomposition. Moreover, we investigate the properties of the extremizer, such as the system of Euler-Lagrange equations, regularity and summability. As an application, we study a dynamical consequence of a system of nonlinear Schrödinger equations with focusing cubic nonlinearities in three dimension when each wave function is restricted to be orthogonal. Using the critical element of the ki…
In this paper, we study a nonlinear interaction problem between compressible viscous fluids and plates. For this problem, we introduce relative entropy and relative energy inequality for the finite energy weak solutions (FEWS). First, we prove that for all FEWS, the structure displacement enjoys improved regularity by utilizing the dissipation effects of the fluid onto the structure and that all FEWS satisfy the relative energy inequality. Then, we show that all FEWS enjoy the weak-strong uniqueness property, thus extending the classical result for compressible Navier-Stokes system to this flu…
In this paper, the existence, uniqueness and regularity properties, Strichartz type estimates for solution of multipoint Cauchy problem for linear and nonlinear Schrödinger equations with general elliptic leading part is obtained.
We derive new results about existence and uniqueness of local and global solutions for nonlinear Schrodinger equation, including self-similar global solutions. Our analysis is performed in the framework of Marcinkiewicz spaces.
