In this paper, we investigate the existence and local uniqueness of normalized peak solutions for a Schrödinger-Newton system under the assumption that the trapping potential is degenerate and has non-isolated critical points.
First we investigate the existence and local uniqueness of normalized single-peak solutions for the Schrödinger-Newton system. Precisely, we give the precise description of the chemical potential $μ$ and the attractive interaction $a$. Then we apply the finite dimensional reduction method to obtain the existence of single-peak solutions. Furthermore, using various local Pohozaev identities, blow-up analysis and the maximum principle, we prove the local uniqueness of single-peak solutions by precise analysis of the concentrated points and the Lagrange multiplier. Finally, we also prove the nonexistence of multi-peak solutions for the Schrödinger-Newton system, which is markedly different from the corresponding Schrödinger equation. The nonlocal term results in this difference.
The main difficulties come from the estimates on Lagrange multiplier, the different degenerate rates along different directions at the critical point of $P(x)$ and some complicated estimates involved by the nonlocal term. To our best knowledge, it may be the first time to study the existence and local uniqueness of solutions with prescribed $L^{2}$-norm for the Schrödinger-Newton system.
For a class of Kirchhoff functional, we first give a complete classification with respect to the exponent $p$ for its $L^2$-normalized critical points, and show that the minimizer of the functional, if exists, is unique up to translations. Secondly, we search for the mountain pass type critical point for the functional on the $L^2$-normalized manifold, and also prove that this type critical point is unique up to translations. Our proof relies only on some simple energy estimates and avoids using the concentration-compactness principles. These conclusions extend some known results in previous p…
We are concerned with the following Schrödinger-Newton problem \begin{equation} -\varepsilon^2Δu+V(x)u=\frac{1}{8π\varepsilon^2} \big(\int_{\mathbb R^3}\frac{u^2(ξ)}{|x-ξ|}dξ\big)u,~x\in \mathbb R^3. \end{equation} For $\varepsilon$ small enough, we show the uniqueness of positive solutions concentrating at the nondegenerate critical points of $V(x)$. The main tools are a local Pohozaev type of identity, blow-up analysis and the maximum principle. Our results also show that the asymptotic behavior of concentrated points to Schrödinger-Newton problem is quite different from those of Schrödinger…
We study the flow of two immiscible fluids located on a solid bottom, where the lower fluid is Newtonian and the upper fluid is a non-Newtonian Ellis fluid. Neglecting gravitational effects, we consider the formal asymptotic limit of small film heights in the two-phase Navier--Stokes system. This leads to a strongly coupled system of two parabolic equations of fourth order with merely Hölder-continuous dependence on the coefficients. For the case of strictly positive initial film heights we prove local existence of strong solutions by abstract semigroup theory. Uniqueness is proved by energy m…
A General and Unified Method to prove the Uniqueness of Ground State Solutions and the Existence/Non-existence, and Multiplicity of Normalized Solutions with applications to various NLS
Existence, regularity and uniqueness of weak solutions for a class of incompressible generalized Navier-Stokes system with slip boundary conditions in $\mathbb{R}^3_+$
We prove existence and uniqueness of strong solutions to the Cucker--Smale flocking model coupled with an incompressible viscous non-Newtonian fluid, with the stress tensor of a power--law structure for $p\geq\frac{11}{5}$. The coupling is performed through a drag force on a periodic spatial domain $T^3$.
This paper concerns value functions of time-dependent tug-of-war games. We first prove the existence and uniqueness of value functions and verify that these game values satisfy a dynamic programming principle. Using the arguments in the proof of existence of game values, we can also deduce asymptotic behavior of game values when $T \to \infty$. Furthermore, we investigate boundary regularity for game values. Thereafter, based on the regularity results for value functions, we deduce that game values converge to viscosity solutions of the normalized parabolic $p$-Laplace equation.
In this paper, we study normalized solutions to the Chern-Simons-Schrödinger system, which is a gauge-covariant nonlinear Schöridnger system with a long-range electromagnetic field, arising in nonrelativistic quantum mechanics theory. The solutions correspond to critical points of the underlying energy functional subject to the $L^2$-norm constraint. Our research covers several aspects. Firstly, in the mass subcritical case, we establish the compactness of any minimizing sequence to the associated global minimization problem. As a by-product of the compactness of any minimizing sequence, the o…
The uniqueness of the positive ground state solutions of fractional Shrodinger equations with a harmonic potential has not been covered by the breakthrough method developed in [1, 2]. It has remained an open question for years. [3] and [5] were quite recently able to prove the existence of the ground state solutions and to derive important properties but they failed to address the uniqueness. [3] left it as an open question, and [5] run numerical simulations that were in favor of the uniqueness. Very recently, the authors of this note developed a general and unified method to prove the uniquen…
We give a new method to prove the existence, non-existence, multiplicity, orbital stability/instability of standing waves for NLS with partial confinement without the subcritical hypothesis, even in the reduction equation. Using this method, we give an affirmative answer for an open problem proposed by [7, Remark 1.10] where the authors conjectured the existence of more than a normalized solution. We also establish uniqueness results of the ground state solutions depending on the bifurcation parameters. We explain that when the effect of partial confinement is strong, a dimension reduction app…
We study the problem of existence and uniqueness of strong solutions to a degenerate quasilinear parabolic non-Newtonian thin-film equation. Originating from a non-Newtonian Navier--Stokes system the equation is derived by lubrication theory and under the assumption that capillarity is the only driving force. The fluid's shear-thinning rheology is described by the so-called Ellis constitutive law. For flow behaviour exponents $α\geq 2$ the corresponding initial boundary value problem fits into the abstract setting of [4,Thm. 12.1]. Due to a lack of regularity this is not true for flow behaviou…
We study ($p$-harmonic) singular functions, defined by means of upper gradients, in bounded domains in metric measure spaces. It is shown that singular functions exist if and only if the complement of the domain has positive capacity, and that they satisfy very precise capacitary identities for superlevel sets. Suitably normalized singular functions are called Green functions. Uniqueness of Green functions is largely an open problem beyond unweighted $\mathbf{R}^n$, but we show that all Green functions (in a given domain and with the same singularity) are comparable. As a consequence, for $p$-…
