Uniqueness of normalized homeomorphic solutions to nonlinear Beltrami equations

Variation of quasiconformal mappings on lines

We obtain improved regularity of homeomorphic solutions of the reduced Beltrami equation, as compared to the standard Beltrami equation. Such an improvement is not possible in terms of Holder or Sobolev regularity; instead, our results concern the generalized variation of restrictions to lines. Specifically, we prove that the restriction to any line segment has finite p-variation for all p>1 but not necessarily for p=1.

The Hodge Star Operator and the Beltrami Equation

An essentially unique homeomorphic solution to the Beltrami equation was found in the 1960s using the theory of Calderón-Zygmund and singular integral operators in $L^p(\mathbb C)$. We will present an alternative method to solve the Beltrami equation using the Hodge star operator and standard elliptic PDE theory. We will also discuss a different method to prove the regularity of the solution. This approach is partially based on work by Dittmar.

Toward the theory of Dirichlet problem for the degenerate Beltrami equations

In this article, first we give a general lemma on the existence of regular homeomorphic solutions $f$ with the hydrodynamic normalization $f(z)=z+o(1)$ as $z\to\infty$ to the degenerate Beltrami equations $\overline{\partial}f=μ\,\partial f$ in $\mathbb C$ whose complex coefficients $μ$ have compact supports. On compactness of one class of solutions of the Dirichlet problem

We consider the Dirichlet problem for the Beltrami equation in some simply connected domain. We consider the class of all homeomorphic solutions of such a problem with a normalization condition and set-theoretic constraints on their complex characteristics. We have proved the compactness of this class in terms of prime ends for an arbitrary continuous function in the Dirichlet condition.

Consider an $L^2$-normalized Laplace-Beltrami eigenfunction $e_λ$ on a compact, boundary-less Riemannian manifold with $Δe_λ= -λ^2 e_λ$. We consider the inverse problem to determine a smooth compact Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$ from a restriction of the source-to-solution operator, $Λ_{\mathcal{S,R}}$, for the wave equation on the manifold. Here, $\mathcal{S}$ and $\mathcal{R}$ are open sets on $M$, and $Λ_{\mathcal{S,R}}$ represents the measurements of waves produced by smooth sources supported on $\mathcal{S}$ and observed on $\mathcal{R}$.
