We derive new results about existence and uniqueness of local and global solutions for nonlinear Schrodinger equation, including self-similar global solutions. Our analysis is performed in the framework of Marcinkiewicz spaces.
We prove that the multidimensional Schrödinger equation is exactly controllable in infinite time near any point which is a finite linear combination of eigenfunctions of the Schrödinger operator. We prove that, generically with respect to the potential, the linearized system is controllable in infinite time. Applying the inverse mapping theorem, we prove the controllability of the nonlinear system.
We prove new well-posedness results for energy-critical nonlinear Schrödinger equations in modulation spaces. This covers initial data with infinite mass and energy. The proof is carried out via bilinear refinements and adapted function spaces.
In this work, we explain in what sense the generic level set of the constants of motion for the periodic nonlinear Schrodinger equation is an infinite dimensional torus on which each generalized nonlinear Schrodinger flow is reduced to straight line almost periodic motion, and describe how neighboring generic infinite dimensional tori are connected.
In this paper we prove the existence of infinitely many small energy solution of a semilinear Schrodinger equation via the dual form of the generalized fountain theorem. This equation is with periodic potential and concave-convex nonlinearities.
In this paper, we study the problem of controllability of Schrödinger equation. We prove that the system is exactly controllable in infinite time to any position. The proof is based on an inverse mapping theorem for multivalued functions. We show also that the system is not exactly controllable in finite time in lower Sobolev spaces.
In this note we construct mixed dimensional infinite soliton trains, which are solutions of nonlinear Schrödinger equations whose asymptotic profiles at time infinity consist of infinitely many solitons of multiple dimensions. For example infinite line-point soliton trains in 2D space, and infinite plane-line-point soliton trains in 3D space. This note extends the works of Le Coz, Li and Tsai [5, 6], where single dimensional trains are considered. In our approach, spatial $L^\infty$ bounds for lower dimensional trains play an essential role.
We study the Cauchy problem for the generalized KdV and one-dimensional fourth-order derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations, for which the global well-posedness of solutions with the small rough data in certain scaling limit of modulation spaces is shown, which contain some data with infinite $L^{2}$ norm.
We consider the Cauchy problem for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation on $\mathbb{R}^d$, where the initial data is in $\dot{H}^1(\mathbb{R}^d)\cap L^p(\mathbb{R}^d)$. We prove local well-posedness for large ranges of $p$ and discuss some global well-posedness results.
In this article, we consider the infinite dimensional vector-valued resonant nonlinear Schrödinger system, which arises from the study of the asymptotic behavior of the defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation on "wave guide" manifolds like $\mathbb{R}^2\times \mathbb{T}$ in [7]. We show global well-posedness and scattering for this system by long time Strichartz estimates and frequency localized interaction Morawetz estimates. As a by-product, our results make the arguments of scattering theory in [7] closed as crucial ingredients for compactness of the critical elements.
We consider the initial value problem for the fractional nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a fractional dissipation. Global existence and scattering are proved depending on the order of the fractional dissipation.
We study *infinite soliton trains* solutions of nonlinear Schrödinger equations (NLS), i.e. solutions behaving at large time as the sum of infinitely many solitary waves. Assuming the composing solitons have sufficiently large relative speeds, we prove the existence and uniqueness of such a soliton train. We also give a new construction of multi-solitons (i.e. finite trains) and prove uniqueness in an exponentially small neighborhood, and we consider the case of solutions composed of several solitons and kinks (i.e. solutions with a non-zero background at infinity).
We obtain global existence results for the Cauchy problem associated to the Schrodinger-Debye system for a class of data with infinite mass (L2-norm). A smallness condition on data is assumed. Our results include data such as singular-homogeneous functions and some types of data blowing up at finitely many points. We also study the asymptotic stability of the solutions. Our analysis is performed in the framework of weak-Lp spaces.
In this paper, we address the long time behaviour of solutions of the stochastic Schrodinger equation in $\mathbb{R}^d$. We prove the existence of an invariant measure and establish asymptotic compactness of solutions, implying in particular the existence of an ergodic measure.
We consider the following nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equation $$ (-Δ)^su+u=K(|x|)u^p,\ \ u>0 \ \ \hbox{in}\ \ R^N, $$ where $K(|x|)$ is a positive radial function, $N\ge 2$, $0<s<1$, $1<p<\frac{N+2s}{N-2s}$. Under some asymptotic assumptions on $K(x)$ at infinity, we show that this problem has infinitely many non-radial positive solutions, whose energy can be made arbitrarily large.
We look for solutions to generic nonlinear Schrödinger equations build upon solitons and kinks. Solitons are localized solitary waves and kinks are their non localized counter-parts. We prove the existence of infinite soliton trains, i.e. solutions behaving at large time as the sum of infinitely many solitons. We also show that one can attach a kink at one end of the train. Our proofs proceed by fixed point arguments around the desired profile. We present two approaches leading to different results, one based on a combination of dispersive estimates and Strichartz estimates, the other based on…
We study in this paper the well-posedness and stability for two linear Schrödinger equations in $d$-dimensional open bounded domain under Dirichlet boundary conditions with an infinite memory. First, we establish the well-posedness in the sens of semigroup theory. Then, a decay estimate depending on the smoothness of initial data and the arbitrarily growth at infinity of the relaxation function is established for each equation with the help of multipliers method.
We prove the existence of least energy nodal solution for a class of Schrödinger-Poisson system in a bounded domain $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^3$ with nonlinearity having a subcritical growth.
The paper studies existence of ground states for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a general external magnetic field. In particular, no lattice periodicity or symmetry of the magnetic field, or presence of external electric field is required.
We prove the existence of non-trivial solutions for a fractional Schr$\ddot{o}$dinger-Poisson equation in $\mathbb{R}^{3}$. The proof is based on the perturbation method and the mountain pass theorem.
We study the stability issue for the inverse problem of determining a coefficient appearing in a Schrödinger equation defined on an infinite cylindrical waveguide. More precisely, we prove the stable recovery of some general class of non-compactly and non periodic coefficients appearing in an unbounded cylindrical domain. We consider both results of stability from full and partial boundary measurements associated with the so called Dirichlet-to-Neumann map. To the best of our knowledge, our results are the first results of stable recovery of such class of coefficients for an elliptic equation …
In dimensions $d\geq 4$, we prove that the Schrödinger map initial-value problem admits global (in time) solutions for smooth data with small norm in the critical Sobolev space.
We will first review known results on multi-solitons of dispersive partial differential equations, which are special solutions behaving like the sum of many weakly-interacting solitary waves. We will then describe our recent joint work with Dong Li on nonlinear Schrödinger equations: Assuming the composing solitons have sufficiently large relative speeds, we prove the existence and uniqueness of a soliton train which is a multi-soliton composed of infinitely many solitons. In the 1D case, we can add to the infinite train an additional half-kink, which is a solution with a non-zero background a…
In this paper a nonlinear coupled Schrodinger system in the presence of mixed cubic and superlinear power laws is considered. Focus are made on the steady state solutions of the continuous system for existence and uniqueness by minimizing problem on some associated Nehari manifold.
We study the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with initial data in $\mathcal{Z}^s_p(\mathbb{R}^d)=\dot{H}^s(\mathbb{R}^d)\cap L^p(\mathbb{R}^d)$, where $0<s<\min\{d/2,1\}$ and $2<p<2d/(d-2s)$. After showing that the linear Schrödinger group is well-defined in this space, we prove local well-posedness in the whole range of parameters $s$ and $p$. The precise properties of the solution depend on the relation between the power of the nonlinearity and the integrability $p$. Finally, we present a global existence result for the defocusing cubic equation in dimension three for initial data with infini…
The paper considers the Schrodinger-Maxwell system with supercritical nonlinearitie. We prove the existence of at least one non-trivial weak solution. This result is already known for the subcritical case. In this paper, we extend it to the supercritical values of p as well. We use a new variational principle to prove our result.
We study the time of existence of the solutions of the following Schrödinger equation $$iψ_t = (-Δ)^s ψ+f(|ψ|^2)ψ, x \in \mathbb S^d, or x\in\T^d$$ where $(-Δ)^s$ stands for the spectrally defined fractional Laplacian with $s>1/2$ and $f$ a smooth function. We prove an almost global existence result for almost all $s>1/2$.
We study a class of nonlinear schrödinger system with external sources terms as perturbations in order to obtain existence of multiple solutions, this system arises from Bose-Einstein condensates etc..As these external sources terms are positive functions and small in some sense, we use Nehari manifold to get the existence of a positive ground state solution and a positive bound state solution.
In this paper, we construct for every $α>0$ and $λ\in {\mathbb C}$ a space of initial values for which there exists a local solution of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} iu_t + Δu + λ|u|^αu= 0 \\ u(0,x) = u_0 \end{cases} \end{equation*} on ${\mathbb R}^N $. Moreover, we construct for every $α>\frac {2} {N}$ a class of (arbitrarily large) initial values for which there exists a global solution that scatters as $t\to \infty $.
We consider some nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equations with magnetic field and involving continuous nonlinearities having subcritical, critical or supercritical growth. Under a local condition on the potential, we use minimax methods to investigate the existence and concentration of nontrivial weak solutions.
We investigate the existence of multiple bound state solutions, in particular sign-changing solutions. By using the method of invariant sets of descending flow, we prove that this system has infinitely many sign-changing solutions. In particular, the nonlinear term includes the power-type nonlinearity $f(u)=|u|^{p-2}u$ for the well-studied case $p\in(4,6)$, and the less-studied case $p\in(3,4)$, and for the latter case few existence results are available in the literature.
We consider the minimizing problem for the energy functional with prescribed mass constraint related to the fractional nonlinear Schrödinger equation with periodic potentials. Using the concentration-compactness principle, we show a complete classification for the existence and non-existence of minimizers for the problem. In the mass-critical case, under a suitable assumption of the potential, we give a detailed description of blow-up behavior of minimizers once the mass tends to a critical value.
We consider the Cauchy problem for the defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger equations (NLS) on the real line with a special subclass of almost periodic functions as initial data. In particular, we prove global existence of solutions to NLS with limit periodic functions as initial data under some regularity assumption.
Mountain pass in a suitable Orlicz space is employed to prove the existence of soliton solutions for a quasilinear Schrödinger equation involving critical exponent in ${\BR}^N$. These equations contain strongly singular nonlinearities which include derivatives of the second order. Such equations have been studied as models of several physical phenomena. The nonlinearity here corresponds to the superfluid film equation in plasma physics.
We obtain existence and multiplicity results for the solutions of a class of coupled semilinear bi-harmonic Schrödinger equations. Actually, using the classical Mountain Pass Theorem and minimization techniques, we prove the existence of critical points of the associated functional constrained on the \emph{Nehari manifold}. Furthermore, we show that using the so-called \emph{fibering method} and the \emph{Lusternik-Schnirel'man theory} there exist infinitely many solutions, actually a countable family of critical points, for such a semiliner bi-hamonic Schrödinger system under study in this wo…
In this article we study the existence and concentration behavior of bound states for a nonlinear Schrödinger-Poisson system with a parameter $\varepsilon>0$. Under some suitable conditions on the potential functions, we prove that for $\varepsilon$ small the system has a positive solution that concentrates at a point which is a global minimum of the minimax function associated to the related autonomous problem.
This paper is devoted to the following class of nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equations: \begin{equation*} (-Δ)^{s} u + V(x)u = f(x,u) + λg(x,u), \quad \text{in}\: \mathbb{R}^N, \end{equation*} where $s\in (0,1)$, $N>2s$, $(-Δ)^{s}$ stands for the fractional Laplacian, $λ\in \mathbb{R}$ is a parameter, $V\in C(\mathbb{R}^N,R)$, $f(x,u)$ is superlinear and $g(x,u)$ is sublinear with respect to $u$, respectively. We prove the existence of infinitely many high energy solutions of the aforementioned equation by means of the Fountain theorem. Some recent results are extended and sharply improved…
We establish some existence results for Schrödinger $p(x)$-Laplace equations in $\mathbb{R}^N$ with various potentials and critical growth of nonlinearity that may occur on some nonempty set, although not necessarily the whole space $\mathbb{R}^N$. The proofs are mainly based on concentration-compactness principles in a suitable weighted variable exponent Sobolev space and its imbeddings.
This paper considers the fractional Schrödinger equation \begin{equation}\label{abstract} (-Δ)^s u + V(|x|)u-u^p=0, \quad u>0, \quad u\in H^{2s}(\R^N) \end{equation} where $0<s<1$, $1<p<\frac{N+2s}{N-2s}$, $V(|x|)$ is a positive potential and $N\geq 2$. We show that if $V(|x|)$ has the following expansion: \[ V(|x|)=V_0 + \frac{a}{|x|^m} + o\left(\frac{1}{|x|^m}\right) \qquad \mbox{as} \ |x| \rightarrow +\infty, \] in which the constants are properly assumed, then (\ref{abstract}) admits infinitely many non-radial solutions, whose energy can be made arbitrarily large. This is the first result …
This paper provides a small data global existence result for a class of quadratic derivative nonlinear Schrödinger systems in two space dimensions. This is an extension of the previous results by Li [Discrete Contin. Dyn. Syst., 32 (2012), 4265--4285] and Ikeda--Katayama--Sunagawa [Ann. H. Poincaré 16 (2015), 535--567].
This paper is concerned with the quasilinear Schrödinger equation \begin{equation*} -Δu+V(x)u- Δ(u^2)u =h(u), \ \ \mbox{in} \ \mathbb{R}^N, \end{equation*} where $N\geq 3$. Under appropriate assumptions on $V$ and $h$, we establish the existence of positive solutions. The main novelty is that, unlike most other papers on this problem, we do not assume $h$ is 4-superlinear at infinity.
We consider the Cauchy problem for a family of semilinear defocusing Schrödinger equations with monomial nonlinearities in one space dimension. We establish global well-posedness and scattering. Our analysis is based on a four-particle interaction Morawetz estimate giving \emph{a priori} $L^8_{t,x}$ spacetime control on solutions.
In this paper we establish the orbital stability of standing wave solutions associated to the one-dimensional Schrödinger-Kirchhoff equation. The presence of a mixed term gives us more dispersion, and consequently, a different scenario for the stability of solitary waves in contrast with the corresponding nonlinear Schrödinger equation. For periodic waves, we exhibit two explicit solutions and prove the orbital stability in the energy space.
We study the inverse problem of determining the magnetic field and the electric potential entering the Schrödinger equation in an infinite 3D cylindrical domain, by Dirichlet-to-Neumann map. The cylindrical domain we consider is a closed waveguide in the sense that the cross section is a bounded domain of the plane. We prove that the knowledge of the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map determines uniquely, and even Hölder-stably, the magnetic field induced by the magnetic potential and the electric potential. Moreover, if the maximal strength of both the magnetic field and the electric potential, is atta…
In this paper, we investigate the existence of positive solution for the following class of elliptic equation $$ - ε^{2}Δu +V(x)u= f(u) \,\,\,\, \mbox{in} \,\,\, \mathbb{R}^{N}, $$ where $ε>0$ is a positive parameter, $f$ has a subcritical growth and $V$ is a positive potential verifying some conditions.
In the present paper, we establish the existence and orbital instability results of cnoidal periodic waves for the quintic Klein-Gordon and nonlinear Schrödinger equations. The spectral analysis for the corresponding linearized operator is established by using the Floquet theory. The orbital instability is determined by applying an abstract result due to Shatah and Strauss.
We study the Cauchy problem for the $1$-d periodic fractional Schrödinger equation with cubic nonlinearity. In particular we prove local well-posedness in Sobolev spaces, for solutions evolving from rough initial data. In addition we show the existence of global-in-time infinite energy solutions. Our tools include a new Strichartz estimate on the torus along with ideas that Bourgain developed in studying the periodic cubic NLS.
In this paper we investigate the existence of the positive solutions for the following nonlinear Schrödinger equation $$ -\triangle u+V(x)u=K(x)|u|^{p-2}u\ {in}\ \mathbb{R}^N $$ where $V(x)\sim a|x|^{-b}$ and $K(x)\sim μ|x|^{-s}$ as $|x|\rightarrow\infty$ with $0<a,μ<+\infty$, $b<2,$ $ b\neq0$, $ 0<\frac{s}{b}<1$ and $p=2(N-2s/b)/(N-2).$
In this paper, we consider the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with the super critical power of nonlinearity in the attractive case. We give a sufficient condition and a necessary condition to obtain global or blowing up solutions. These conditions coincide in the critical case, thereby extending the results of Weinstein. Furthermore, we improve a blow-up condition.
In this article we use the variational method developed by Szulkin \cite{szulkin} to prove the existence of a positive solution for the following logarithmic Schrödinger equation $$ \left\{ \begin{array}{lc} -ε^2Δu+ V(x)u=u \log u^2, & \mbox{in} \quad \mathbb{R}^{N}, \\ %u(x)>0, & \mbox{in} \quad \mathbb{R}^{N} \\ u \in H^1(\mathbb{R}^{N}), & \; \\ \end{array} \right. $$ where $ε>0, N \geq 1$ and $V$ is a saddle-like potential.
We study a derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation, allowing non-integer powers in the nonlinearity, $|u|^{2σ} u_x$. Making careful use of the energy method, we are able to establish short-time existence of solutions with initial data in the energy space, $H^1$. For more regular initial data, we establish not just existence of solutions, but also well-posedness of the initial value problem. These results hold for real-valued $σ\geq 1,$ while prior existence results in the literature require integer-valued $σ$ or $σ$ sufficiently large ($σ\geq 5/2$), or use higher-regularity function spaces.
In this paper, we consider the following Schrödinger-Poisson system with $p$-laplacian \begin{equation} \begin{cases} -Δ_{p}u+V(x)|u|^{p-2}u+ϕ|u|^{p-2}u=f(u)\qquad&x\in\mathbb{R}^{3},\newline -Δϕ=|u|^{p}&x\in\mathbb{R}^{3}. \end{cases}\notag \end{equation} We investigate the existence of multiple sign-changing solutions. By using the method of invariant sets of descending flow, we prove that this system has infinitely many sign-changing solutions. This system is new one coupled by Schrödinger equation of $p$-laplacian with a Poisson equation. Our results complement the study made by Zhaoli Liu…
We consider the standing-wave problem for a nonlinear Schrödinger equation, corresponding to the semilinear elliptic problem \begin{equation*} -Δu+V(x)u=|u|^{p-1}u,\ u\in H^1(\mathbb{R}^2), \end{equation*} where $V(x)$ is a uniformly positive potential and $p>1$. Assuming that \begin{equation*} V(x)=V_\infty+\frac{a}{|x|^m}+O\Big(\frac{1}{|x|^{m+σ}}\Big),\ \text{as}\ |x|\rightarrow+\infty, %\tag{$V2$} \end{equation*} for instance if $p>2$, $m>2$ and $σ>1$ we prove the existence of infinitely many positive solutions. If $V(x)$ is radially symmetric, this result was proved in \cite{WY-10}. The p…
We consider non-gauge-invariant cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equations in one space dimension. We show that initial data of size $\varepsilon$ in a weighted Sobolev space lead to solutions with sharp $L_x^\infty$ decay up to time $\exp(C\varepsilon^{-2})$. We also exhibit norm growth beyond this time for a specific choice of nonlinearity.
In this paper, we study the existence of vortices for two kinds of nonlinear Schrödinger equations arising from the Bose-Einstein condensates and geometric optics arguments, respectively. For the Gross-Pitaevskii equation from Bose-Einstein condensates arguments, we introduce the weighted Sobolev space on which the corresponding functional is coercive. By using the variational methods, we prove the existence of positive and radially symmetric solutions under different types of boundary condition. And we study another equation arising from geometric optics arguments by constrained minimization …
