We study the beta-deformation of N=4 SYM on S^3 with chemical potentials for the U(1)_R as well as the two global U(1) symmetries. The one-loop effective potential at weak coupling is computed for both the Coulomb and Higgs branches. At near critical chemical potential and small finite temperature, we find a metastable state at the origin of moduli space. On the Higgs branch, this has the interpretation in terms of deconstruction as an extra-dimensional torus which becomes metastable for infinite size and decays to zero size through quantum tunnelling and thermal activation. At strong coupling, the theory is described by its gravitational dual. The relevant background is found by performing a TsT-transformation on the solution describing an AdS_5 black hole spinning in S^5. A probe-brane calculation, using giant gravitons as probes, reveals qualitative agreement with the weak coupling results.
We study the \cal{N}=1 SU(N) SYM theory which is a marginal deformation of the \cal{N}=4 theory, with a complex deformation parameter β. We consider the large N limit and study perturbatively the conformal invariance condition. We find that finiteness requires reality of the deformation parameter β.
We study the beta-deformed matrix models using the method of refined topological string theory. The refined holomorphic anomaly equation and boundary conditions near the singular divisors of the underlying geometry fix the refined amplitudes recursively. We provide exact test of the quantum integrality conjecture in the Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit. We check the higher genus exact formulae with perturbative matrix model calculations.
We study the conformal invariance of non-planar beta-deformed N=4 SYM theory using the coupling constant reduction (CCR) formalism. We show that up to order g^10, differently from the planar case, we can remove the scheme dependence in the definition of the theory without reducing to the real beta case. We also compute the gauge beta function up to four loops and see that the generalized finiteness theorems proposed in [hep-th: 0705.1483] still hold.
We claim that if by a choice of the couplings the theory can be made conformally invariant (vanishing of the beta functions) it is automatically finite and vice versa. This is demonstrated by explicit example in supersymmetric gauge theory. The formalism is then applied to the beta deformed ${\cal N}=4$ SYM theory and it is shown that the requirement of conformal invariance = finiteness can be achieved for any complex parameter of deformations.
We study a marginal deformation of N=4 Yang-Mills, with a real deformation parameter beta. This beta-deformed model has only N=1 supersymmetry and a U(1)xU(1) flavor symmetry. The introduction of a new superspace star-product allows us to formulate the theory in N=4 light-cone superspace, despite the fact that it has only N=1 supersymmetry. We show that this deformed theory is conformally invariant, in the planar approximation, by proving that its Green functions are ultra-violet finite to all orders in perturbation theory.
We compute perturbative worldsheet S-matrix of beta-deformed AdS/CFT in the strong and weak `t Hooft coupling limit to compare with exact S-matrix. For the purpose we take near BMN limit of TsT-transformed AdS_5 x S^5 with the twisted boundary condition and compute the S-matrix on worldsheet using light-cone gauge fixed Lagrangian. For the weak coupling side, we compute the S-matrix in the SU(3) sector by applying coordinate Bethe ansatz method to the one-loop dilatation operator obtained from the deformed super Yang-Mills theory. These analysis support the conjectured exact S-matrix in the le…
We study the spectrum of one single magnon in the superconformal beta-deformed N=4 SYM theory in the planar limit. We compute the anomalous dimensions of one-impurity operators O_{1,L}= tr(phi Z^{L-1}), including wrapping contributions at their critical order L.
We review the general procedure for the field-theoretical computation of wrapping effects in standard and beta-deformed N=4 super Yang-Mills by means of N=1 superspace techniques. In the undeformed theory, these methods allowed to find explicit results at four and five loops for two-impurity operators. In the deformed case, a general expression for the finite-size correction to the anomalous dimension of single-impurity operators at the critical order was obtained.
We study various configurations of rotating and wound D1-brane in AdS_5\times S^5 background and in its beta deformed version. We find giant magnon and spike solutions on the world-volume of D1-brane in AdS_5\times S^5 background. We also analyse the equations of motion of D1-brane in beta-deformed background. We show that in the limit of large electric flux on world-volume of D1-brane they reduce to the equations that describe collection of large number of fundamental strings. We also construct rotating and wound D1-brane solution that has two equal spins on S^5_γ.
We show how the perturbation theory results recently obtained by F.Fiamberti, A.Santambrogio, C.Sieg and D.Zanon for operator anomalous dimensions of beta-deformed Super-Yang-Mills theory can be reproduced from the AdS5/CFT4 Y-system proposed by N.G., V.Kazakov and P.Vieira. To do this, we obtain the general twisted asymptotic solution of this Y-system of functional equations. We show that existence of an additional parameter beta in the deformed theory allows to extract rich information about the perturbation theory integrals directly from Y-system. Using this method we found a simple generat…
We study finite size effects for composite operators in the SU(2) sector of the superconformal beta-deformed N=4 SYM theory. In particular we concentrate on the spectrum of one single magnon. Since in this theory one-impurity states are non BPS we compute their anomalous dimensions including wrapping contributions up to four loops and discuss higher order effects.
In this paper we derive both the leading order finite size corrections for twist-2 and twist-3 operators and the next-to-leading order finite-size correction for twist-2 operators in beta-deformed SYM theory. The obtained results respect the principle of maximum transcendentality as well as reciprocity. We also find that both wrapping corrections go to zero in the large spin limit. Moreover, for twist-2 operators we studied the pole structure and compared it against leading BFKL predictions.
We calculate the one loop beta function for the would-be marginal coupling on the world sheet of the k deformed sigma models associated to a quantum group with q=exp(i pi/k). This includes the bosonic principal chiral models and symmetric space sigma models but also the k deformed semi-symmetric space sigma model describing strings in a deformation of AdS_5 x S^5. The world sheet sigma model is a current-current deformation of the gauged WZW model for the supergroup PSU(2,2|4) with level k. In the string theory context the beta function is shown to vanish because of the vanishing of the Killin…
We consider a class of super-conformal beta-deformed N=1 gauge theories dual to string theory on $AdS_5 \times X$ with fluxes, where $X$ is a deformed Sasaki-Einstein manifold. The supergravity backgrounds are explicit examples of Generalised Calabi-Yau manifolds: the cone over $X$ admits an integrable generalised complex structure in terms of which the BPS sector of the gauge theory can be described. The moduli spaces of the deformed toric N=1 gauge theories are studied on a number of examples and are in agreement with the moduli spaces of D3 and D5 static and dual giant probes.
We propose that certain twists of the su(2|2) S-matrix elements describe the beta-deformation of N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. We compute the perturbative four-loop anomalous dimension of the Konishi operator of the deformed gauge theory from the Luscher formula based on these twisted S-matrix elements. The result agrees exactly with the perturbative gauge theory computations.
We present tree-level scattering amplitudes in beta-deformed super Yang-Mills theory in terms of new generating functions, derived by construction of a phase operator and application thereof to the N = 4 superamplitudes. The technique is explicitly illustrated for the MHV and NMHV sectors. Along these lines we propose a phase representation of the N = 4 superconformal algebra realized on deformed amplitudes in the planar limit. Validity of the MHV vertex expansion is proven and a connection to non-planar multi-loop unitarity cuts is established. Our derivations are also compatible with the rel…
We compute both classical and quantum finite-size corrections at leading order in the strong coupling limit for the (dyonic) giant magnon in the Lunin-Maldacena background. Based on the exact S-martix conjectured for the deformed theory, we generalize the Luscher formula to include twisted boundary conditions and show that the results match with those derived both by finite-size classical solutions of the giant magnon and by algebraic curve analysis.
We study rigidly rotating strings in $β$-deformed $AdS_5\times S^5$ background with one spin along AdS$_5$ and two angular momenta along $S^5$. We find the spiky string solutions and present the dispersion relation among various charges in this background. We further generalize the result to the case of four angular momenta along $AdS_5 \times S_γ^5$.
Fluxbrane-like backgrounds obtained from flat space by a sequence of T-dualities and shifts of polar coordinates (beta deformations) provide an interesting class of exactly solvable string theories. We compute the one-loop partition function for various such deformed spaces and study their spectrum of D-branes. For rational values of the B-field these models are equivalent to Z_N \times Z_N orbifolds with discrete torsion. We also obtain an interesting new class of time-dependent backgrounds which resemble localized closed string tachyon condensation.
We consider the AdS/CFT correspondence between the beta-deformed supersymmetric gauge theory and the type IIB string theory on the Lunin-Maldacena background. Guided by gauge theory results, we modify and extend the supergravity solution of Lunin and Maldacena in two ways. First we make it to be doubly periodic in the deformation parameter, beta -> beta+1 and beta -> beta+tau_0, to match the beta-periodicity property of the dual gauge theory. Secondly, we reconcile the SL(2,Z) symmetry of the gauge theory, which acts on the constant parameters tau_0 and beta, with the SL(2,Z) invariance of the…
We study string theory on the analytically continued $β$ deformed background proposed in hep-th/0509036. This non-static model provides a solvable conformal field theory which describes time-dependent twisted string dynamics. With the mini-superspace approach, we examine disk one-point correlators of D-branes and compute the winding string pair production rate. We find that these results are consistent with the CFT computation.
We compute two-point functions of lowest weight operators at the next-to-leading order in the couplings for the beta-deformed N=4 SYM. In particular we focus on the CPO Tr(Phi_1^2) and the operator Tr(Phi_1 Phi_2) not presently listed as BPS. We find that for both operators no anomalous dimension is generated at this order, then confirming the results recently obtained in hep-th/0506128. However, in both cases a finite correction to the two-point function appears.
Several calculations of 2- and 3-point correlation functions in the deformed theory are presented. The central charge in the Lunin-Maldacena gravity dual is shown to be independent of the deformation parameter. Calculations show that 2- and 3-point functions of chiral primary operators have no radiative corrections to lowest order in the interactions. Correlators of the operator tr(Z_1Z_2), which has not previously been identified as chiral primary, also have vanishing lowest order corrections.
This work is the result of the ideas developed by Ken Yoshida about the possibility of extending the range of applications of the matrix model approach to the computation of the holomorphic superpotential of the beta-deformed N=4 super Yang-Mills theory both in the presence of a mass term and in the massless limit. Our formulae, while agreeing with all the existing results we can compare with, are valid also in the case of spontaneously broken gauge symmetry. We dedicate this paper to the memory of Ken, an unforgettable friend for all of us and a great scientist.
We study extended objects in the gravity dual of the N=1 beta-deformation of N=4 Super Yang-Mills theory. We identify probe brane configurations corresponding to giant gravitons and Wilson loops. In particular we identify a new class of objects, given by D5-branes wrapped on a two-torus with a world-volume gauge field strength turned on along the torus. These appear when the deformation parameter assumes a rational value and the gauge theory spectrum has additional branches of vacua. We give an interpretation of the new D5-brane dual giant gravitons in terms of rotating vacuum expectation valu…
The beta-deformation is one of the two superconformal deformations of the N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory. At the planar level it shares all of its properties except for supersymmetry, which is broken to the minimal amount. The tree-level amplitudes of this theory exhibit new features which depart from the commonly assumed properties of gauge theories with fields in the adjoint representation. We analyze in detail complete one-loop amplitudes and a nonplanar two-loop amplitude of this theory and show that, despite having only N=1 supersymmetry, two-loop amplitudes have a further-improved ultraviol…
An attempt is made to formulate Gaiotto's S-duality relations in an explicit quantitative form. Formally the problem is that of evaluation of the Racah coefficients for the Virasoro algebra, and we approach it with the help of the matrix model representation of the AGT-related conformal blocks and Nekrasov functions. In the Seiberg-Witten limit, this S-duality reduces to the Legendre transformation. In the simplest case, its lifting to the level of Nekrasov functions is just the Fourier transform, while corrections are related to the beta-deformation. We calculate them with the help of the mat…
In this work we study the cusp anomalous dimension of the marginally deformed N=4 sYM theory. We find the expression of the cusp anomalous dimension both at the weak and strong coupling limits. On the gravity side we partially map the system of equations to that of undeformed N=4 sYM, by defining in the internal space an effective angle Δθ_{eff} which depends on the deformation parameter. The cusp anomalous dimension then can be read from that of the N=4 sYM theory, by using this effective angle instead of the usual angle of the undeformed 5-sphere. In the weak coupling regime we find no beta …
We consider non-perturbative effects in the beta-deformed N=4 supersymmetric gauge theory in the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence. We concentrate on the correlators of the Yang-Mills operators which correspond to the lowest Kaluza-Klein modes propagating on the dual supergravity background found by Lunin and Maldacena in hep-th/0502086. In particular, we calculate all multi-instanton contributions to these correlators in the beta-deformed SYM and find a compelling agreement with the results expected in supergravity.
We consider the half-genus expansion of the resolvent function in the $β$-deformed matrix model with three-Penner potential under the AGT conjecture and the $0d-4d$ dictionary. The partition function of the model, after the specification of the paths, becomes the DF conformal block for fixed $c$ and provides the Nekrasov partition function expanded both in $g_s = \sqrt{-ε_1 ε_2}$ and in $ε= ε_1+ε_2$. Exploiting the explicit expressions for the lower terms of the free energy extracted from the above expansion, we derive the first few $ε$ corrections to the Seiberg-Witten prepotential in terms o…
In this note we give evidence for an equality of the spectra, including wrapping, of the SU(2)-sector spin chain for real deformations beta and beta+1/L, in marginally beta-deformed N=4 Yang-Mills, which appears after relaxing the cyclicity constraint. Evidence for the equality is given by evaluating the first wrapping correction to the energy of the undeformed magnon of momentum pi, and the beta=1/2, physical magnon, for several spin chain lengths L. We also show that the term of maximal transcendentality coincides for both magnons to all L. As a by-product we provide an expression for the fi…
In N=2 superconformal field theories the Kahler potential is known to be tree level exact. The beta-deformation of N=4 SU(N) SYM reduces the amount of supersymmetry to N=1, allowing for non-trivial, superconformal loop corrections to the Kahler potential. We analyse the two-loop corrections on the Coulomb branch for a complex deformation. For an arbitrary chiral field in the Cartan subalgebra we reduce the problem of computing the two-loop Kahler potential to that of diagonalising the mass matrix, we then present the result in a manifestly superconformal form. The mass matrix diagonalisation i…
We discuss an analog of the AGT relation in five dimensions. We define a q-deformation of the beta-ensemble which satisfies q-W constraint. We also show a relation with the Nekrasov partition function of 5D SU(N) gauge theory with N_f=2N.
Within the background field approach, all two-loop sunset vacuum diagrams, which occur in the Coulomb branch of N = 2 superconformal theories(including N = 4 SYM), obey the BPS condition m_3 = m_1 + m_2, where the masses are generated by the scalars belonging to a background N = 2 vector multiplet. These diagrams can be evaluated exactly, and prove to be homogeneous quadratic functions of the one-loop tadpoles J(m_1^2), J(m_2^2) and J(m_3^2), with the coefficients being rational functions of the squared masses. We demonstrate that, if one switches on the beta-deformation of the N = 4 SYM theor…
We consider a series of massive scaling limits m_1 -> infty, q -> 0, lim m_1 q = Lambda_{3} followed by m_4 -> infty, Lambda_{3} -> 0, lim m_4 Lambda_{3} = (Lambda_2)^2 of the beta-deformed matrix model of Selberg type (N_c=2, N_f=4) which reduce the number of flavours to N_f=3 and subsequently to N_f=2. This keeps the other parameters of the model finite, which include n=N_L and N=n+N_R, namely, the size of the matrix and the "filling fraction". Exploiting the method developed before, we generate instanton expansion with finite g_s, epsilon_{1,2} to check the Nekrasov coefficients (N_f =3,2 c…
We study supersymmetry breaking metastable vacua arising from beta deformed quiver gauge theories. The relation between the bounds on metastability and the deformation are discussed. Metastable supersymmetry breaking vacua are found in the IR of beta deformed cascading quivers with vector-like field content. Furthermore the limiting case of massive Nf=Nc SQCD appears in the IR of gauge theories with chiral-like field content. We comment on the field theory origin of the deformation and on possible applications in AdS/CFT.
We determine the missing finite-size corrections to the asymptotic one-loop dilatation operator of the real $β$-deformed $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM theory for the gauge groups $U(N)$ and $SU(N)$ in the 't Hooft limit. In the $SU(N)$ case, the absence of the $U(1)$ field components leads to a new kind of finite-size effect, which we call prewrapping. We classify which states are potentially affected by prewrapping at generic loop orders and comment on the necessity to include it into the integrability-based description. As a further result, we identify classes of $n$-point correlation functions which …
Virasoro irregular conformal block is presented as the expectation value of Jack-polynomials of the beta-deformed Penner-type matrix model and is compared with the inner product of Gaiotto states with arbitrary rank. It is confirmed that there are non-trivial modifications of the Gaiotto states due to the normalization of the states. The relation between the two is explicitly checked for rank 2 irregular conformal block.
We propose a definition of the Wilson loop operator in the N=1 beta-deformed supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. Although the operator is not BPS, it has a finite expectation value at least up to order (g^2 N)^2. This does not happen generally for a generic non-BPS Wilson loop whose expectation value is UV divergent. For this reason we call this a near-BPS Wilson loop and conjecture that its exact expectation value is finite. We derive the general form of the boundary condition satisfied by the dual string worldsheet and find that it is deformed. Finiteness of the expectation value of the Wilson…
We observe that, at beta-deformed matrix models for the four-point conformal block, the point q=0 is the point where the three-Penner type model becomes a pair of decoupled two-Penner type models and where, in the planar limit, (an array of) two-cut eigenvalue distribution(s) coalesce into (that of) one-cut one(s). We treat the Dotsenko-Fateev multiple integral, with their paths under the recent discussion, as perturbed double-Selberg matrix model (at q=0, it becomes a pair of Selberg integrals) to construct two kinds of generating functions for the q-expansion coefficients and compute some. A…
We study the embedding of spacetime filling D7-branes in beta-deformed backgrounds which, according to the AdS/CFT dictionary, corresponds to flavoring beta-deformed N=4 super Yang-Mills. We consider supersymmetric and more general non-supersymmetric three parameter deformations. The equations of motion for quadratic fluctuations of a probe D7-brane wrapped on a deformed three-sphere exhibit a non-trivial coupling between scalar and vector modes induced by the deformation. Nevertheless, we manage to solve them analytically and find that the mesonic mass spectrum is discrete, with a mass gap an…
We consider gluon and gluino scattering amplitudes in large N beta-deformed N=4 SYM with real beta. A direct inspection of the planar diagrams shows that the scattering amplitudes to all orders in perturbation theory are the same as in the undeformed N=4 SYM theory. Using the dual sigma-model description, we find the same equality at strong coupling to all orders in the sigma-model loop expansion. Finally, we show that the same analysis holds for gluon scattering amplitudes in a three-parameter deformation of planar N=4 SYM that breaks all the supersymmetry.
We show that in a deformed ${\rm AdS}_5$ model with an explicit infrared cutoff included in the logarithmic correction $-c_0\log[(z_{IR}-z)/z_{IR}]$, the heavy quark Cornell potential can be fitted very well, the corresponding beta-function agrees with the QCD beta-function at 2-loop level reasonably well, and its dual dilaton potential is bounded from below in infrared. The results are compared with those in the Andreev-Zakharov model and the Pirner-Galow model.
We study rigid string solutions rotating on the S^3 subspace of the beta-deformed AdS_5xS^5 background found by Lunin and Maldacena. For particular values of the parameters of the solutions we find the known giant magnon and single spike strings. We present a single spike string solution on the deformed S^3 and find how the deformation affects the dispersion relation. The possible relation of this string solution to spin chains and the connection of the solutions on the undeformed S^3 to the sine-Gordon model are briefly discussed.
We analyze the supersymmetry conditions for a class of SU(2) structure backgrounds of Type IIB supergravity, corresponding to a specific ansatz for the supersymmetry parameters. These backgrounds are relevant for the AdS/CFT correspondence since they are suitable to describe mass deformations or beta-deformations of four-dimensional superconformal gauge theories. Using Generalized Complex Geometry we show that these geometries are characterized by a closed nowhere-vanishing vector field and a modified fundamental form which is also closed. The vector field encodes the information about the sup…
We compute the one-loop effective action in \N=1 conformal SU(N) gauge theory which is an exactly marginal deformation of the \N=4 SYM theory. We consider an abelian background of constant \N = 1 gauge field and single chiral scalar. While for finite N the effective action depends non-trivially on the deformation parameter β, this dependence disappears in the large N limit if the parameter βis real. This conclusion matches the strong-coupling prediction coming from the form of a D3-brane probe action in the dual supergravity background: for the simplest choice of the D3-brane position the prob…
Motivated by the recent work of Hofman and Maldacena we construct a classical string solution on the beta-deformed AdS_5 \times \tilde{S}^5 background. This string solution is identified with a magnon state of the integrable spin chain description of the N=1 supersymmetric beta-deformed gauge theory. The string solution carries two angular momenta, an infinite J_1 and a finite J_2 which classically can take arbitrary values. It corresponds to the magnon of charge J_2 propagating on an infinite spin chain. We derive an exact dispersion relation for this magnon from string theory.
We elucidate the connection between the N=1 beta-deformed SYM theory and noncommutativity. Our starting point is the T-duality generating transformation involved in constructing the gravity duals of both beta-deformed and noncommutative gauge theories. We show that the two methods can be identified provided that a particular submatrix of the O(3,3,R) group element employed in the former case, is interpreted as the noncommutativity parameter associated with the deformation of the transverse space. It is then explained how to construct the matrix in question, relying solely on information extrac…
We stude the \textit{holographic} QCD model which contains a quadratic term $ -σz^2$ and a logarithmic term $-c_0\log[(z_{IR}-z)/z_{IR}]$ with an explicit infrared cut-off $z_{IR}$ in the deformed ${\rm AdS}_5$ warp factor. We investigate the heavy quark potential for three cases, i.e, with only quadratic correction, with both quadratic and logarithmic corrections and with only logarithmic correction. We solve the dilaton field and dilation potential from the Einstein equation, and investigate the corresponding beta function in the G{ü}rsoy -Kiritsis-Nitti (GKN) framework. Our studies show tha…
We study perturbative amplitudes in a large class of theories obtained by marginal deformations of the N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills. We find that planar amplitudes in the deformed theories are closely related to planar amplitudes in the original N=4 SYM. For some classes of deformations the amplitudes essentially coincide with the N=4 amplitudes to all orders in planar perturbation theory. For more general classes of marginal deformations, the equivalence holds at up to four loops, and at five loops it is likely to break down. This implies that the iterative structure of planar MHV amplitudes…
In this paper we study the solitonic string solutions of magnon and single spike type in the beta-deformed AdS_4 x CP3 background. We find the dispersion relations which are supposed to give the anomalous dimension of the gauge theory operators.
We study the quantization of Hitchin systems in terms of beta-deformations of generalized matrix models related to conformal blocks of Liouville theory on punctured Riemann surfaces. We show that in a suitable limit, corresponding to the Nekrasov-Shatashvili one, the loop equations of the matrix model reproduce the Hamiltonians of the quantum Hitchin system on the sphere and the torus with marked points. The eigenvalues of these Hamiltonians are shown to be the epsilon1-deformation of the chiral observables of the corresponding N=2 four dimensional gauge theory. Moreover, we find the exact wav…
We study finite-size corrections to the magnon dispersion relation in three models which differ from string theory on AdS5 x S5 in their boundary conditions. Asymptotically, this is accomplished by twisting the transfer matrix in a way which manifestly preserves integrability. In model I all world-sheet fields are periodic, whereas model II represents a particular orbifold of AdS5 x S5 and model III is a beta-deformed theory. For models I and II we construct the one-particle TBA equations and use them to determine the leading finite-size correction to the asymptotic Bethe equation. We also mak…
We study the beta-ensemble that represents conformal blocks of Liouville theory on the sphere. This quantity is related through AGT conjecture to the Nekrasov instanton partition function of 4d $\mathcal{N}=2$ SU(2) gauge theory with four flavors. We focus on the large N limit, equivalent to the Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit where one of the Omega-background deformation parameters is vanishing. A quantized Seiberg-Witten differential form is defined perturbatively in h-bar as the singular part of the beta-ensemble resolvent. Using the Dyson collective field action, we show that the free energy ob…
We study the structure constants of the ${\cal N}=1$ beta deformed theory perturbatively and at strong coupling. We show that the planar one loop corrections to the structure constants of single trace gauge invariant operators in the scalar sector is determined by the anomalous dimension Hamiltonian. This result implies that 3 point functions of the chiral primaries of the theory do not receive corrections at one loop. We then study the structure constants at strong coupling using the Lunin-Maldacena geometry. We explicitly construct the supergravity mode dual to the chiral primary with three …
We consider a full Leigh-Strassler deformation of the ${\cal N}=4$ SYM theory and look for conditions under which the theory would be conformally invariant and finite. Applying the algorithm of perturbative adjustments of the couplings we construct a family of theories which are conformal up to 3 loops in the non-planar case and up to 4 loops in the planar one. We found particular solutions in the planar case when the conformal condition seems to be exhausted in the one loop order. Some of them happen to be unitary equivalent to the real beta-deformed ${\cal N}=4$ SYM theory, while others are …
We apply Zeilberger summation to derive a closed formula for the wrapping correction to one-impurity states in the su(2) sector of the beta-deformed N=4 SYM theory at beta=1/2. As an application depending heavily on the result, we compute the large volume expansion of the wrapping correction.
We apply the Lunin--Maldacena construction of gravity duals to beta-deformed gauge theories to a class of Type IIB backgrounds with U(1)^3 global symmetry, which include the multicenter D3-brane backgrounds dual to the Coulomb branch of N=4 super Yang-Mills and the rotating D3-brane backgrounds dual to the theory at finite temperature and chemical potential. After a general discussion, we present the full form of the deformed metrics for three special cases, which can be used for the study of various aspects of the marginally-deformed gauge theories. We also construct the Penrose limits of the…
